The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of training in multiple functions, communication of strategy, and feedback on performance on competitive advantage while assessing the mediating role of corporate image. A cross-sectional survey design was used in this study. Three hundred and one permanent employees working in different organizations in the Ghanaian telecommunication service sector were sampled for this study. The respondents' responses were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (structural equation modeling partial least squares) with the aid of IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 26.0) and Smart PLS (Version 4.0). The results revealed that training in multiple functions, communication of strategies, and feedback on performance does not significantly relate to competitive advantage. Further, the results established that corporate image mediated the relationship between both communication of strategy and training in multiple functions and competitive advantage. However, corporate image did not mediate the link between feedback on performance and competitive advantage. These results imply that human resource managers should devise strategies to rapidly respond to situations in this current, competitive and ever-changing business environment. There is a global call for religious cooperation and tolerance, and it is a nonnegotiable necessity for Ghana, through a collective responsibility. This study thus investigated the perspectives of Ghanaians on the religious situation in Ghana. It looked at whether or not Ghana is a “one religion” State, by exploring the existence of several religions in Ghana. The global advocacy for religious cooperation motivated this study to explore some challenges hindering religious cooperation in Ghana, and ways for improvement. Using a mixed methodology of quantitative and qualitative designs, the study sampled 225 individuals ethically from the Faculty of Social Sciences in KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana. Primary data was obtained through questionnaires and interviews. The findings revealed that Christianity, Islam and African Traditional Religion are the three main religions amongst others in Ghana. A majority of 179 respondents indicated that Ghana has plural religions and is not a “one religion” State, hence, a non-negotiable advocacy for religious cooperation. The majority of these advocates are youth within the age brackets of 15-25 years, followed by adults within 36-45 years. Despite challenges hindering religious cooperation in Ghana such as religious, social, cultural and political barriers, the practice of respect, tolerance and value toward one another and interfaith relations, could guarantee some improvement. Therefore, whether Christians, Muslims, Traditionalists or the Other, one has to be and behave religiously inclusive, tolerant, and humble toward the other. Magnolol (MG) and Brucea javanica (L.) Merr. oil (BJO) possess synergetic anti-tumor effects, but have poor water solubility and stability, which results in low oral bioavailability. The MG loaded self-microemulsion drug delivery system (MG-SMDDS) with BJO as oil phase component was utilized to improve the cellular uptake and synergetic anti-tumor effects. Compatibility study and pseudoternary phase diagram (PTPD) were respectively employed to screen for the composition and proportion of oil phase in the formulation. Central composite design-effect surface method was applied to optimize proportion of each formulation condition. The droplet size, ζ-potential, colloid stability, encapsulation rate (ER) and in vitro dissolution rate of MG-SMDDS were evaluated. Furthermore, cellular uptake and cytotoxicity of the microemulsion on HepG2 cells were assessed. The optimal composition of MG-SMDDS was: MG (9.09%), castor oil (7.40%), BJO (2.47%), Cremophor EL 35 (54.04%) and 1, 2-propanediol (27.01%). The MG-SMDDS exhibited satisfactory droplet size, ζ-potential, colloid stability and ER, as well as faster dissolution rate than free MG. More importantly, SMEDDS containing BJO could enhance the cellular uptake and cytotoxicity of free BJO and free MG on tumor cells. This study examines authentic and empowering leadership as antecedents of work-family enrichment while assessing the moderating role of supportive work-family culture. Data was retrieved from 328 employees from small-sized hotels in Ghana and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that authentic and empowering leadership positively and significantly influence work-family enrichment, further demonstrating that supportive work-family culture moderates the infuence of authentic and empowering leadership on work-family enrichment. BACKGROUND: Astaxanthin (AST) is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a safe dietary supplement for humans. As a potent lipid‐soluble keto‐carotenoid, it is widely used in food, cosmetics, and the pharmaceutical industry. However, its low solubility limits its powerful biological activity and its application in these fields. This study aims to develop a delivery system to address the low solubility and bioavailability of AST and to enhance its antioxidant capacity. RESULTS: Astaxanthin‐loaded composite micelles were successfully prepared via coaxial electrospray technology. Astaxanthin existed in the amorphous state in the electro‐sprayed formulation with an approximate particle size of 186.28 nm and with a polydispersity index of 0.243. In this delivery system, Soluplus and copovidone (PVPVA 64) were the main polymeric matrix for AST, which then released the drug upon contact with aqueous media, resulting in an overall increase in drug solubility and a release rate of 94.08%. Meanwhile, lecithin, and Polyethylene glycol‐grafted Chitosan (PEG‐g‐CS) could support the absorption of AST in the gastrointestinal tract, assisting transmembrane transport. The relative bioavailability reached about 308.33% and the reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging efficiency of the formulation was 44.10%, which was 1.57 times higher than that of free astaxanthin (28.10%) when both were at the same concentration level based on astaxanthin. CONCLUSION: Coaxial electrospray could be applied to prepare a composite micelles system for the delivery of poorly water‐soluble active ingredients in functional food, cosmetics, and medicine. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry. AbstractHerein, a high-sensitive electrochemical sensor based upon a multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified screen-printed carbon electrode (MWCNTs-SPCE) was constructed for the determination of isoliquiritigenin (ISL). The electrochemical properties of ISL on the MWCNTs-SPCE were investigated systematically and a fast and cost-effective method for the determination of ISL was successfully established. A clear irreversible oxidation peak of the ISL was observed at 0.3 V (versus Ag/AgCl) on the MWCNTs-SPCE. The oxidation of ISL on MWCNTs-SPCE was an adsorption reaction accompanied by diffusion. Using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), we observed that the oxidation peak current of the ISL in phosphate buffer (pH 7) showed a linear relationship from 0.50 to 100 µg/mL and a detection limit of 0.10 µg/mL. This method displayed good repeatability and stability, as well as exhibited excellent selectivity for ISL. Also, we successfully applied the method to determine ISL in Chinese herbal medicine licorice. Validation of the analyses via spike assays showed a recovery rate ranging from 95.39 to 101.00%, which was consistent with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
