A new 8,17-epoxybriarane, briastecholide O (1), was isolated from an encrusting algae-containing cultured octocoral Briareum stechei. Moreover, wild-type B. stechei collected from Okinawan waters yielded a new 8,17-epoxybriarane, briastecholide P (2), along with two known analogs, namely, briaexcavatins G (3) and X (4). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction was conducted to determine the absolute configurations of 2 – 4 , while the structure of 1 was established by spectroscopic elucidation. Briaranes 1 and 3 were active in enhancing the growth of MG-63 human mesenchymal stem cells. A d10 Cu(I) two‐dimensional (2D) metal–organic framework (MOF) with chemical formulas, {[Cd(L)(tcm)(H2O)]⋅2H2O}n (1) (L = 1,3,5‐tris(4‐pyridylethynyl)benzene; tcm−1 = tricyanomethanide) was synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction method. In 1, the coordination geometry of Cu(I) ion is distorted tetrahedral coordinated to four N atoms from three L and one tcm− ligands. A 2D puckered honeycomb‐like layer is formed via the bridges of Cu(I) ions and L ligands with tris‐monodentate coordination mode. Two 2D layers are mutually interpenetrated via the π–π stacking interaction between benzene ring of L ligand and pyridyl ring of neighboring L ligand to form a two‐fold interpenetrated 2D net and then arranged orderly to construct its 3D supramolecular network. Thermal stability and in‐situ temperature‐dependent structural variations of 1 are performed by TG analysis associated with temperature‐dependent PXRD measurement. The water vapor ad‐/de‐sorption isotherm and CO2 adsorption isotherm of 1 are measured and discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The chemical screening of an algae-containing marine sponge identified as Lendenfeldia species has isolated two 24-homoscalarane sesterterpenoids, including a known compound, felixin A (1) and a new analogue, lendenfeldarane V (2). The structure of 1 , obtained in a previous study, was cited for the first time in this study via single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure of 2 was ascertained via 2D NMR experiments and a literature review. The absolute configurations of 1 and 2 were delineated with DP4+ computation and specific optical rotation. Homoscalarane 1 exhibited cytotoxicity towards MG63 human osteosarcoma cells. C‐shaped ortho‐benzodipyrrole‐based A‐DNBND‐A non‐fullerene acceptors (NFAs), derived from the removal of the A′ thiadiazole moiety in Y6, emerge as a new class of structurally simplified A‐D‐A‐type NFAs. In this work, a selenium‐substitution strategy is applied to the central DNBND ladder‐π‐core, yielding asymmetric CB‐Se and symmetric CB‐2Se. Asymmetric CB‐Se demonstrates a less ordered 3D trapezoid‐like packing structure, which promotes a more favorable intermixed donor‐acceptor morphology with PM6 polymer, achieving a higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 17.87% in organic photovoltaics (OPVs). This value represents the highest reported value among the selenium‐incorporated A‐D‐A‐type NFAs. Symmetric CB‐2Se forms a kaleidoscope‐like 3D single‐crystal structure with enhanced intermolecular interactions. This enables the development of a single‐crystal‐like solution‐processed thin film, which transitions from a kinetically trapped face‐on π–π stacking orientation to a thermodynamically stable edge‐on configuration upon thermal annealing. The CB‐2Se‐based organic field‐effect transistor (OFET) achieved a remarkable electron mobility of 1.18 cm2 V−1 s−1 with exceptional n‐type air stability, which outperformed the corresponding A‐DNA′ND‐A‐type Y6‐based materials by two orders magnitudes and represents the highest reported value for solution‐processed n‐type OFETs utilizing A‐D‐A‐type small molecules. AuCl(PMe 3 ) and AuCl(PEt 3 ) were used to react with quinoline-8-thiolate (8-QNS) to give three Au(I) complexes, i.e., [8-QNS(AuPMe 3 ) 2 ]ClO 4 ( 1 ), [(8-QNS) 2 Ag(AuPMe 3 ) 2 ]ClO 4 ( 2 ), and [8-QNS(AuPEt 3 ) 2 ]ClO 4 ( 3 ), which have been structurally determined by X-ray diffraction to show various intra- and intermolecular metal···metal contacts (i.e., metal = Au(I) or Ag(I)). All complexes displayed solid-state luminescence at 535-568 nm, which is most likely attributed to an intraligand transition of 8-QNS and/or a S → Au(I) charge-transfer transition, possibly modified by Au(I)···Au(I) interactions. Notably, complex 1 ·CH 2 Cl 2 exhibited remarkable mechanochromic luminescence from 535 to 601 nm upon grinding. While immersed in various solvents for the ground powder samples of complex 1 ·CH 2 Cl 2 , the luminescence at 601 nm mostly reverted to the original luminescence. Powder X-ray diffraction measurements indicated that complex 1 ·CH 2 Cl 2 underwent structural transformation from a crystalline to an amorphous phase upon grinding, and it can be restored to the original crystalline phase upon immersion in various solvents. Additionally, the reversible experiments of complex 1 ·CH 2 Cl 2 for the grinding and immersion actions were performed for up to five cycles. Moreover, the time-dependent luminescence spectra for the crystalline samples of complex 1 ·CH 2 Cl 2 were measured, and they showed a significant luminescence change from 535 to 590 nm within 2 days.

A terbium-based metal-organic framework (MOF) with exceptional water stability for highly selective detection of pesticide thiamethoxam (TMX) in aqueous solution is reported. To date, most reported lanthanide metal-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) still exhibit poor water stability, which may limit their practical applications in bio-sensing and detecting pollutants in environmental water samples. In this work, a Tb-MOF [Tb(BDC) 1.5 (DEF)·0.5H 2 O] n (1, BDC = 1,4-benzene dicarboxylate, DEF = N , N -diethylformamide) was prepared by hydrothermal reactions of 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid with the corresponding rare earth ions of Tb 3+ . Impressively, water stability surveys of compound 1 indicated that it maintained at least 90% of its emission intensity after storage in water for several months. This characteristic of long water stability is unusual as compared to other Ln-MOFs, making compound 1 an excellent candidate for sensing applications in the aqueous phase. In particular, the green emission of compound 1 could be quenched by the pesticide thiamethoxam (TMX), which was attributed to both the static and dynamic quenching processes based on an upward-curving Stern-Volmer plot. The quenching mechanism was speculatively attributed to the inner filter effect combined with the complex formation based on the electrostatic interaction of compound 1 and TMX, resulting in the promotion of the quenching efficiency. Three supramolecular architectures, [Cu 2 (dpds) 2 (C 5 O 5 ) 2 (H 2 O) 4 ]·3H 2 O ( 1 ), [Cu(dpds)(C 5 O 5 )]·3H 2 O ( 2 ), and [Cu 2 (dpds) 2 (C 5 O 5 ) 2 ]·9H 2 O·C 2 H 5 OH ( 3 ) (dpds = 4,4'-dipyridyldisulfide and C 5 O 5 2- (croconate) = dianion of 4,5-dihydroxycyclopent-4-ene-1,2,3-trione), have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Compound 1 contains two crystallographically independent Cu(II) ions, which are both distorted octahedral geometry with elongation along the croconate- and H 2 O-bound axial positions and bonded with two N atoms of two dpds, two O atoms of one C 5 O 5 2- , and two H 2 O molecules. Two crystallographically independent dpds ligands, both adopting the bis-monodentate bridging mode, connect two Cu(II) ions to form a one-dimensional zigzag chain-like coordination polymer. In 2 and 3 , there are two and three crystallographically independent Cu(II) ions, respectively, which are all distorted octahedral geometries with elongation along the croconate-bound axial positions six-coordinated and bonded with two N atoms of two dpds ligands in cis- or/and trans-forms and four O atoms of two C 5 O 5 2- ligands. The dpds ligands in 2 and 3 all adopt the bis-monodentate bridging mode, and the C 5 O 5 2- ligands act as bridging ligands with bridging bis-bidentate through three C 5 O 5 2- oxygen atoms in 2 and bridging bis-bidentate through four adjacent C 5 O 5 2- oxygen atoms in 3 , respectively, linking the Cu(II) ions to generate a two-dimensional layered and a three-dimensional metal-organic framework, respectively. The structural diversity and dimensionality observed in 1 - 3 may be attributed to the cis- or/and trans-coordination sphere of Cu(II) centers with two dpds ligands and the coordination modes of croconate ligands. Thermal stability and in situ temperature-dependent structural variations of 1 - 3 have been verified by thermogravimetric analysis and powder X-ray diffraction measurements.
