This paper uses affective computing and mood measures to calculate the negative emotional status of college students during school closures. The psychological data of university students at the University of H were counted using the affective computing model and psychometric methods, the frequency of their negative emotion words was mined, and the changes of each psychometric index were analyzed in terms of the time dimension, stressor, anxiety status, and emotional state, respectively. The epidemic closure period had a great negative impact on students. From January 20 to December 20, 2021, college students’ positive mood characteristic value declined. The negative mood characteristic value increased, and the negative mood characteristic value was always higher than the positive mood characteristic value. Finally, the negative mood characteristic value of 0.27 was much higher than the positive mood characteristic value of 0.07, and there were various discomforts such as about 40% of people were nervous, depressed, lacked motivation, and had diminished interest; at the same time, feelings of difficulty in accomplishing goals, failure, fear, anxiety, and frustration emerged. The epidemic closure greatly impacted students’ psychology, and students’ psychological problems need to be taken seriously and receive timely guidance.

Forest microclimates can contrast substantially from the macroclimate outside forests. These microclimates regulate understory biodiversity and ecosystem functions. Studies have quantified the global patterns and driving factors of forest understory temperature offsets, but data from China were almost missing, making the global assessment incomplete. To fill this knowledge gap, we quantitatively synthesized 494 paired observations from China extracted from 91 publications to quantify mean (Tmean), maximum (Tmax) and minimum temperature offsets (Tmin). Results showed that (1) forest canopies significantly buffered understory Tmean and Tmax against macroclimatic temperature, with average offsets of 1.0 and 1.5°C, respectively, while understory Tmin offsets were not significantly different from zero; (2) forest type (broadleaved, mixed, vs. coniferous) and forest location (rural vs. urban) did not affect Tmean, Tmax or Tmin offsets, but climate zone and season showed significant impacts; and (3) macroclimatic temperature, wind speed, tree height and canopy density also impacted temperature offsets, although their effects varied among Tmean, Tmax and Tmin. Our results complement the global assessment of forest buffering capacity, and reiterate the necessity for incorporating microclimatic variability into future bioclimatic modelling of species demography and distributions. Objective: This study explores the correlation between life satisfaction and ADHD symptoms. It also discusses whether resilience mediates the correlation between ADHD symptoms and life satisfaction. Method: We surveyed 297 dental students. A total of 291 completed a self-report scale consisting of the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale, Wender Utah Rating Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale, and Conner–Davidson Resilience Scale. The study used hierarchical linear regression analysis, resampling, and asymptotic strategies for data processing. Results: The ADHD screening results of the self-report scale were positive for 6.87% of the students. This positive rate differed among participants of diverse ages and varying paternal education levels. ADHD symptoms were negatively correlated with life satisfaction and resilience. Life satisfaction was observably positively associated with resilience. Resilience serves as a mediating role between life satisfaction and the two symptoms of ADHD. Conclusion: Resilience intervention programs can enhance the life satisfaction of dental students, especially those with positive ADHD symptoms screening. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Defensin-like proteins are conserved in multicellular organisms and contribute to innate immune responses against fungal pathogens. In rice, defensins play a novel role in regulating cadmium (Cd) efflux from the cytosol. However, whether the antifungal activity of defensins correlates with Cd-efflux function remains unknown. In this study, we isolated an endophytic Fusarium , designed Fo 10, by a comparative microbiome analysis of rice plants grown in a paddy contaminated with Cd. Fo 10 is tolerant to high levels of Cd, but is sensitive to the defensin-like protein OsCAL1, which mediates Cd efflux to the apoplast. We found that Fo 10 symbiosis in rice is regulated by OsCAL1 dynamics, and Fo 10 coordinates multiple plant processes, including Cd uptake, vacuolar sequestration, efflux to the environment, and formation of Fe plaques in the rhizosphere. These processes are dependent on the salicylic acid signaling pathway to keep Cd levels low in the cytosol of rice cells and to decrease Cd levels in rice grains without any yield penalty. Fo 10 also plays a role in Cd tolerance in the poaceous crop maize and wheat, but has no observed effects in the eudicot plants Arabidopsis and tomato. Taken together, these findings provide insights into the mechanistic basis underlying how a fungal endophyte and host plant interact to control Cd accumulation in host plants by adapting defense responses to promote the establishment of a symbiosis that permits adaptation to high-Cd environments. This study identifies an endophytic Fusarium Fo 10 that interacts reciprocally with the defensin-like protein OsCAL1 to reduce cytosolic Cd levels in rice. The terrible shuttling of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) is a major obstacle for commercializing lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries as high‐performance energy storage systems. In this study, a carbon‐based interlayer with effective suppression capability on the shuttle effect is developed by simply coating a well‐dispersed mixture of soybean protein isolate/MXene onto the acidified carbon paper (ACP). The resultant composite interlayer (SM@ACP) is able to synergistically diminish the shuttle effect through chemical adsorption and physical blocking. Meanwhile, this interlayer displays excellent conductivity and facilitates the diffusion of Li ions due to the composite coating to promote both electron/ion conduction as well as the porous structure of ACP. Benefiting from the unique properties of the composite interlayer, the as‐assembled Li–S batteries with SM@ACP interlayers show a great improvement in the cycling stability and rate performance, delivering a very low‐capacity decay rate of 0.071% per cycle at 0.5 C even after 800 cycles. • Investigated the impact of industrial robot adoption on GTFP in Chinese cities. • Employed the NDDF-GLPI and Bartik IV approach to estimate GTFP and the penetration of industrial robots. • Utilized a combination of two-way fixed effects models, mechanism analysis models, and quantile regression models for causal identification. • Industrial robot adoption enhances GTFP through energy saving, technological innovation, scale output, and industrial linkage. • The positive effect of industrial robots on GTFP is mitigated in areas with high pollution, while it is reinforced in regions with the development of green finance. This study investigates the impact of industrial robot adoption on Green Total Factor Productivity (GTFP) against the backdrop of increasing demand for both robot proliferation and green development utilizing urban panel data from Chinese cities spanning 2007–2019. Findings reveal that industrial robot adoption significantly improves GTFP, exerting its influence through mechanisms such as energy saving, technological innovation, scale output, and industrial linkages. Certain market factors moderate the influence of industrial robot on GTFP. Initially, regions reliant on high-pollution industries and resource-based cities experience minimal effects, which may diminish or even reverse as GTFP improves. Additionally, the positive influence of industrial robots on GTFP is particularly noticeable in regions with advanced development in green finance. The insufficiency of fresh air throughout deep inner corridor plans has long been highlighted, while the introduction of combined spaces can often result in obvious benefits of natural ventilation. Considering the abundant inner corridor buildings in northern China and the emerging context of global warming, it is therefore important to understand the hidden correlation between space combinations and ventilation performance in inner corridor buildings. Through this study, baseline prototype of L-shape inner corridor together with its representative optimization prototypes of combined space design (multi-bay, through penetrating and duplex) were modelled and examined based on case studies and literature reviews. Employing the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tool, and key evaluation indicators of air velocity and age of air, this work investigated the benefit potentials of natural ventilation through space organization measures among inner corridor buildings from a qualitative and quantitative perspective, respectively. As a result, ventilation enhancement effects have been validated for three combined spaces, with the through penetrating space achieving 15% more the compliance rate of AGE than the multi-bay space. In particular, the duplex space is preferred, not only it shows the best ventilation improvement at the corner, but also it can effectively improve uneven ventilation conditions within and between layers by redistributing air flow (the average wind speed on the leeward side of the inner corridor space can be increased by up to 0.12 m/s). • CFD simulations validating the organization space impact on inner corridor ventilation performed. • The through penetrating space achieving 15% more the compliance rate of AGE than the multi-bay space. • Further benefiting abilities of duplex space coupled through space types conducted. • The duplex space enhances the natural ventilation benefits of the space and reduces airflow distribution gaps. • Optimization strategies for adequate natural ventilation of the combined spaces proposed. Rare coding variants that significantly impact function provide insights into the biology of a gene 1-3 . However, ascertaining their frequency requires large sample sizes 4-8 . Here, we present a catalogue of human protein-coding variation, derived from exome sequencing of 983,578 individuals across diverse populations. 23% of the Regeneron Genetics Center Million Exome data (RGC-ME) comes from non-European individuals of African, East Asian, Indigenous American, Middle Eastern, and South Asian ancestry. This catalogue includes over 10.4 million missense and 1.1 million predicted loss-of-function (pLOF) variants. We identify individuals with rare biallelic pLOF variants in 4,848 genes, 1,751 of which have not been previously reported. From precise quantitative estimates of selection against heterozygous loss-of-function, we identify 3,988 loss-of-function intolerant genes, including 86 that were previously assessed as tolerant and 1,153 lacking established disease annotation. We also define regions of missense depletion at high resolution. Notably, 1,482 genes have regions depleted of missense variants despite being tolerant to pLOF variants. Finally, we estimate that 3% of individuals have a clinically actionable genetic variant, and that 11,773 variants reported in ClinVar with unknown significance are likely to be deleterious cryptic splice sites. The coupling between anammox and nitrate/nitrite-dependent anaerobic methane oxidation (n-DAMO) has been considered a sustainable technology for nitrogen removal from sidestream wastewater and can be implemented in both membrane biofilm reactor (MBfR) and granular bioreactor. However, the potential influence of the accompanying hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) in the anaerobic digestion (AD)-related methane-containing mixture on anammox/n-DAMO remains unknown. To fill this gap, this work first constructed a model incorporating the C/N/S-related bioprocesses and evaluated/calibrated/validated the model using experimental data. The model was then used to explore the impact of H 2 S on the MBfR and granular bioreactor designed to perform anammox/n-DAMO at practical levels (i.e., 0∼5% (v/v) and 0∼40 g/S m 3 , respectively). The simulation results indicated that H 2 S in inflow gas did not significantly affect the total nitrogen (TN) removal of the MBfR under all operational conditions studied in this work, thus lifting the concern about applying AD-produced biogas to power up anammox/n-DAMO in the MBfR. However, the presence of H 2 S in the influent would either compromise the treatment performance of the granular bioreactor at a relatively high influent NH 4 + -N/NO 2 - -N ratio (e.g., >1.0) or lead to increased energy demand associated with TN removal at a relatively low influent NH 4 + -N/NO 2 - -N ratio (e.g., <0.7).
