In this study, the settling performance of lateritic nickel ores in the Counter Current Decantation (CCD) thickeners following the High-Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) process was investigated in detail. The samples used within the scope of the study were obtained from the overflow of the 2nd CCD thickener under the condition that Manisa-Gördes and Eskişehir-Karaçam lateritic nickel ores were fed to the plant at different times. A series of settling tests were performed for both ores using anionic, cationic, and nonionic flocculants of various ionicity and molecular weight. Sedimentation performance was evaluated based on parameters such as settling time, clarity, and compression. To determine the optimum conditions for the tests, a preliminary test was performed, and the pulp solids content was determined as 7% and the flocculant dosage as 850 g/t. According to the test results, nonionic and very low anionic flocculants gave better results. It was found that flocculation was negatively affected with increasing anionicity, and results could be obtained only with very low anionicity flocculants. It was determined that the settling rate was very fast with cationic flocculants, but the amount of compression was not favorable, especially for Gördes ore. However, it is envisaged that the amount of consumption can be reduced if cationic flocculants are used especially for Karaçam ore. When a comparison was made between the ores, similar results were obtained in general and only for Karaçam ore, thickener underflow density gave a successful result for all flocculant performances. On the other hand, it was concluded that variable ore structures and unstable process parameters influence the flocculant adsorption mechanisms and thus on the settling behavior. Background: The matrix effect is accepted as one of the critical factors that affect trueness, and it is especially important in the analysis of critical compounds, such as drugs, toxins and pesticides, in complex matrices. Ceftiofur (CEF) is a leading drug used in dairy industry for pulmonary infections. Because milk has a complex matrix, which is rich in fats, proteins and many other compounds, the determination of CEF in milk products deals with issues of trueness. On the other hand, pharmaceuticals also have a complex composition as they contain not only the active pharmaceutical ingredient but also many excipients, such as preservatives and pH modifiers. Due to its frequent use, its residues can be found in meat products or exist as an excreted compound in urine, milk and so on., Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different calibration methods on quantitative estimation of CEF in milk and pharmaceutical samples., Methods: CEF was analysed using a new HPLC method, in which separation was achieved on a C 18 bonded fused-core silica particle column by using isocratic elution; the method was optimized by testing different chromatographic conditions and validated according to the ICH Q2(R1) and United States Pharmacopeia guidelines., Results: Interestingly, it was found that CEF signals in milk samples were higher than the ones at the same level prepared in calibration solutions with a ratio of 11.28:1., Conclusion: This finding reveals the necessity of matrix-matched calibration for accurate quantitative determination of CEF in milk samples. Purpose: The first year of life is known as the "Oral Stage" in psychosexual development theory. We investigated the impact of psychosexual development theory-based breastfeeding education on primiparous mothers' feeding attitudes and behaviors., Design and Methods: We conducted this randomized controlled study at a baby-friendly hospital between December 2022 and July 2023. Participants were randomized to intervention (n = 21) and control (n = 19) groups. All participants received the same standard discharge education in the hospital, and the intervention group received additional psychosexual development theory-based breastfeeding education. Data collection for both groups involved conducting face-to-face and telephone interviews, utilizing the Personal Information Form, IOWA Infant Feeding Attitude Scale (IIFAS), Breastfeeding Form, and Psychosexual Theory and Breastfeeding Knowledge Form. The study was recorded in the Clinicaltrials.gov PRS system (ID: NCT06009120)., Results: The mean IIFAS score of mothers in the intervention group was 76.23 ± 4.10, while mothers in the control group was 66.31 ± 5.72, which was statistically significant (p < .001). Significant interobserver variabilities exist for Bethesda category III: atypia of undetermined significance (AUS) of The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (TBSRTC). Thus, subcategorization of AUS including AUS "nuclear" and AUS "other" is proposed in the recent 3rd edition of TBSRTC. This study investigated the impact of the nuclear features/architectural features/nuclear score (NS) (3-tiered)/subcategories and subgroups on risk of malignancy (ROM) in thyroid fine-needle aspirations (FNA). 6940 FNAs were evaluated. 1224 (17.6%) cases diagnosed as AUS were reviewed, and 240 patients (initial FNAs of 260 nodules and 240 thyroidectomies) were included. Subcategories and subgroups were defined according to TBSRTC 2nd and 3rd editions. Histological diagnostic groups included nonneoplastic disease, benign neoplasm, low-risk neoplasm, and malignant neoplasm. Overall, ROM was 30.7%. ROM was significantly higher in FNAs with nuclear overlapping (35.5%), nuclear molding (56.9%), irregular contours (42.1%), nuclear grooves (74.1%), chromatin clearing (49.4%), and chromatin margination (57.7%), and these features were independent significant predictors for malignancy. FNAs with NS3 had significantly higher ROM (64.2%). Three-dimensional groups were significantly more frequent in malignant neoplasms (35.7%). ROM was significantly higher in AUS-nuclear subcategory (48.2%) and in AUS-nuclear and architectural subcategory (38.3%). The highest ROM was detected in AUS-nuclear1 subgroup (65.2%). ROM was significantly higher in the group including AUS-nuclear and AUS-nuclear and architectural subcategories, namely "high-risk group" than the group including other subcategories, namely "low-risk group" (42.0%vs 13.9%). In conclusion, subcategorization may not be the end point, and nuclear scoring and evaluation of architectural patterns according to strict criteria may provide data for remodeling of TBSRTC categories., (© 2024. (1) Introduction: The impact of multifocality/bilaterality on the prognosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is a matter of debate. In order to clarify this debate, several studies have attempted to identify additional parameters associated with poor prognosis, including total tumor diameter (TTD), in the context of multifocal PTCs. In this context, this study was carried out to investigate the impact of TTD on tumor recurrence and lymph node metastasis (LNM) in PTCs. (2) Materials and Methods: The sample of this single-center retrospective study consisted of 706 patients diagnosed with PTC. TTD was calculated as the sum of the largest diameters of tumor foci in multifocal tumors. The resulting TTDs were grouped into TTDs ≤ 10 mm, TTDs > 10 mm, TTDs ≤ 20 mm, and TTDs > 20 mm, using 10 mm and 20 mm as cutoff values. (3) Results: There was no significant difference between multifocal papillary microcarcinomas (PTMCs) with a TTD of >10 mm and unifocal PTCs with a primary tumor diameter (PTD) of >10 mm except for advanced age and lymphovascular invasion (LVI). In addition, perineural invasion (PNI) and TTD > 10 mm were found to be significant risk factors for LNM, and PNI, TTD > 10 mm, TTD > 20 mm, and bilaterality were found to be significant risk factors for recurrence. LVI, and TTD > 10 mm were found to be independent significant predictors for recurrence, and LVI and extrathyroidal extension (ETE) were found to be independent significant predictors for LNM. (4) Conclusions: Considering TTD > 10 mm in recurrence risk categorization models and adopting a clinical approach that takes into account multifocal PTMCs with TTD > 10 mm along with unifocal PTCs with PTD > 10 mm may be more useful in terms of clinical management of the disease.

Patients with migraine with aura are at an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. There are limited data on arterial stiffness in migraine patients with aura. The present study evaluated arterial stiffness in these patients using the cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI). This prospective study included 50 patients with migraine with aura (43 female, mean age 38.9 ± 9.9 years). The patient group was matched for age and gender with 50 healthy individuals with no history of migraine (43 female, mean age 39.3 ± 10.3 years). All patients and control subjects underwent a comprehensive clinical evaluation by an experienced neurologist and were interviewed about their headache histories. There was no significant difference in baseline demographic characteristics and echocardiographic parameters between migraine with aura patients and the control group. Both right and left CAVI values were significantly higher in the patients with migraine with aura (6.5 ± 1.2 vs 6.1 ± 0.7, P = .043 and 6.6 ± 1.2 vs 6.1 ± 0.7, P = .009, respectively). Arterial stiffness is an important mediator of cardiovascular diseases.
