Context: Emphasis on grossing to reporting for the assessment of histopathological parameters predicting outcomes in Wilms tumor. Aims: To analyze various clinicopathological parameters that effect outcomes in treatment naïve and post chemotherapy Wilms tumor specimens. Settings and Design: This was a retrospective observational study. Subjects and Methods: All patients diagnosed with Wilms tumor between 2012 and 2018 at our institute will be included with their clinical findings, laboratory reports, and radiological findings. The patients will be categorized into two groups based on treatment protocol (Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) or the National Wilms Tumor Study Group/Children's Oncology Group (COG) guidelines) used. Details of Grossing and reporting protocols used for the in pre treatment and post treatment specimens will be analyzed. Follow-up till December 2020 will be analyzed. Statistical Analysis Used: Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 36 patients with the diagnosis of Wilms tumor were included in the present study. The mean age of presentation was 3.9 ± 0.7 years, and males were more common than females. Most of them presented as abdominal mass and few with isolated hematuria. Twenty-six (72%) patients were treated under SIOP protocol with preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Ten patients underwent upfront surgery as per COG protocol. In SIOP group patients, the mean tumor size was 9.3cm. Forty percent (n = 10) we mixed histological type followed by blastemal type constituting (32%, n = 8). Regressive and epithelial histological types constituted 16% (n = 4) and 12% (n = 3), respectively. In the SIOP group 72% (n = 19) had no anaplasia and 28% (n = 7) had anaplasia. Fifty seven percent (n = 15) cases were Stage I, followed by 26.9% n = 7) and 11.5% (n = 3) being Stage II and Stage III, respectively. Ten patients underwent upfront surgery as per COG protocol. The mean tumor size among this group was 8 cm ranging from 7 cm to 11 cm. Eight (80%) cases had favorable histology and two cases showed focal anaplasia. Heterologous differentiation is seen in 3 (70%). Out of the 10 cases, one case was Stage I, six were Stage 2, one was Stage III, and two were clinical Stage IV. None of the cases showed either vessel or lymph node metastasis. All the patients received adjuvant chemotherapy postsurgery and were followed up till December 2020 for (at least 3 years). Of 25 patients in the SIOP group, 18 (72%) had complete remission with no radiological evidence of residual disease. Of the 10 patients in the COG group, 6 (70%) had complete remission. Conclusions: Histopathological evaluation of Wilms tumor is a critical aspect in the management of Wilms tumor, as tumor characteristics are different in the tumors treated under SIOP and COG protocols, which will ultimately affect the prognostic risk stratification. This necessitates the knowledge of the important grossing and reporting of these tumors under the two protocols.

Aim: The primary aim of this study was to validate the reliability, sensitivity and safety profile of novel combination of ICG- methylene blue dye as an SN tracer for PeCa. Methods: This is a validation and non-randomised prospective observational study involving 25 patients (50 inguinal basins) who underwent SLNB where in ICG and methylene blue were used for localisation. The patients with clinically node negative groins were recruited in the study. SNs were identified intraoperatively using near infrared fluorescence imaging (NIRF Imaging system, SPY-PHI, Stryker, Sweden) and blue dye. The numbers of SNs identified by each tracer and the rates of complications and nodal recurrence during the followup. Results: Overall 137 SNs were identified intraoperatively. Among the 137 SNs excised fluorescence, blue dye and Combined (blue + green) identified 57(41.6%), 27 (19.7%), and 51 (37.2%), respectively. The average number of SLNs removed per patient was 5 (range, 1–11) with sentinel lymph nodes detection rate at 94% (47/50). Seven patients had malignancy on SLNB and underwent ipsilateral radical inguinal lymphadenectomy. One patient had false negative SN and positive node in modified inguinal lymphadenectomy specimen. No adverse events were observed in all cases. Conclusion: The Novel combination of ICG fluorescence-Methylene blue dye technique is simple, reliable and safe. Moreover, it demonstrates a high SLN detection rate with a low false-negative rate, and it avoids radiation exposure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Interface engineering is the core of device optimization, and this is particularly true for perovskite photovoltaics (PVs). The steady improvement in their performance has been largely driven by careful manipulation of interface chemistry to reduce unwanted recombination. Despite that, PVs devices still suffer from unavoidable open circuit voltage (V OC ) losses. Here, we propose a different approach by creating a photo-ferroelectric perovskite interface. By engineering an ultrathin ferroelectric two-dimensional perovskite (2D) which sandwiches a perovskite bulk, we exploit the electric field generated by external polarization in the 2D layer to enhance charge separation and minimize interfacial recombination. As a result, we observe a net gain in the device V OC reaching 1.21 V, the highest value reported to date for highly efficient perovskite PVs, leading to a champion efficiency of 24%. Modeling depicts a coherent matching of the crystal and electronic structure at the interface, robust to defect states and molecular reorientation. Two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) perovskite heterostructures have played a key role in advancing the performance of perovskite solar cells 1,2 . However, the migration of cations between 2D and 3D layers results in the disruption of octahedral networks, leading to degradation in performance over time 3,4 . We hypothesized that perovskitoids, with robust organic-inorganic networks enabled by edge- and face-sharing, could impede ion migration. We explored a set of perovskitoids of varying dimensionality and found that cation migration within perovskitoid-perovskite heterostructures was suppressed compared with the 2D-3D perovskite case. Increasing the dimensionality of perovskitoids improves charge transport when they are interfaced with 3D perovskite surfaces-this is the result of enhanced octahedral connectivity and out-of-plane orientation. The 2D perovskitoid (A6BfP) 8 Pb 7 I 22 (A6BfP: N-aminohexyl-benz[f]-phthalimide) provides efficient passivation of perovskite surfaces and enables uniform large-area perovskite films. Devices based on perovskitoid-perovskite heterostructures achieve a certified quasi-steady-state power conversion efficiency of 24.6% for centimetre-area perovskite solar cells. We removed the fragile hole transport layers and showed stable operation of the underlying perovskitoid-perovskite heterostructure at 85 °C for 1,250 h for encapsulated large-area devices in ambient air., (© 2024. Key Message: The mechanism of conferring salt tolerance by AtTPS9 involves enhanced deposition of suberin lamellae in the Arabidopsis root endodermis, resulting in reduction of Na + transported to the leaves. Members of the class I trehalose-6-phosphate synthase (TPS) enzymes are known to play an important role in plant growth and development in Arabidopsis. However, class II TPSs and their functions in salinity stress tolerance are not well studied. We characterized the function of a class II TPS gene, AtTPS9, to understand its role in salt stress response and root development in Arabidopsis. The attps9 mutant exhibited significant reduction of soluble sugar levels in the leaves and formation of suberin lamellae (SL) in the endodermis of roots compared to the wild type (WT). The reduction in SL deposition (hydrophobic barriers) leads to increased apoplastic xylem loading, resulting in enhanced Na + content in the plants, which explains salt sensitivity of the mutant plants. Conversely, AtTPS9 overexpression lines exhibited increased SL deposition in the root endodermis along with increased salt tolerance, showing that regulation of SL deposition is one of the mechanisms of action of AtTPS9 in conferring salt tolerance to Arabidopsis plants. Our data showed that besides salt tolerance, AtTPS9 also regulates seed germination and root development. qRT-PCR analyses showed significant downregulation of selected SNF1-RELATED PROTEIN KINASE2 genes (SnRK2s) and ABA-responsive genes in the mutant, suggesting that AtTPS9 may regulate the ABA-signaling intermediates as part of the mechanism conferring salinity tolerance., (© 2024. Defects at the top and bottom interfaces of three-dimensional (3D) perovskite photoabsorbers diminish the performance and operational stability of perovskite solar cells owing to charge recombination, ion migration and electric-field inhomogeneities 1-5 . Here we demonstrate that long alkyl amine ligands can generate near-phase-pure 2D perovskites at the top and bottom 3D perovskite interfaces and effectively resolve these issues. At the rear-contact side, we find that the alkyl amine ligand strengthens the interactions with the substrate through acid-base reactions with the phosphonic acid group from the organic hole-transporting self-assembled monolayer molecule, thus regulating the 2D perovskite formation. With this, inverted perovskite solar cells with double-side 2D/3D heterojunctions achieved a power conversion efficiency of 25.6% (certified 25.0%), retaining 95% of their initial power conversion efficiency after 1,000 h of 1-sun illumination at 85 °C in air., (© 2024. Thermally evaporated C 60 is a near-ubiquitous electron transport layer in state-of-the-art p-i-n perovskite-based solar cells. As perovskite photovoltaic technologies are moving toward industrialization, batch-to-batch reproducibility of device performances becomes crucial. Here, we show that commercial as-received (99.75% pure) C 60 source materials may coalesce during repeated thermal evaporation processes, jeopardizing such reproducibility. We find that the coalescence is due to oxygen present in the initial source powder and leads to the formation of deep states within the perovskite bandgap, resulting in a systematic decrease in solar cell performance. However, further purification (through sublimation) of the C 60 to 99.95% before evaporation is found to hinder coalescence, with the associated solar cell performances being fully reproducible after repeated processing. We verify the universality of this behavior on perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells by demonstrating their open-circuit voltages and fill factors to remain at 1950 mV and 81% respectively, over eight repeated processes using the same sublimed C 60 source material. Notably, one of these cells achieved a certified power conversion efficiency of 30.9%. The properties of layered materials are significantly dependent on their lattice orientations. Thus, the growth of graphene nanowalls (GNWs) on Cu through PECVD has been increasingly studied, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we examined the GNWs/Cu interface and investigated the evolution of their microstructure using advanced Scanning transmission electron microscopy and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (STEM-EELS). GNWs interface and initial root layers of comprise graphitic carbon with horizontal basal graphene (BG) planes that conform well to the catalyst surface. In the vertical section, the walls show a mix of graphitic and turbostratic carbon, while the latter becomes more noticeable close to the top edges of the GMWs film. Importantly, we identified growth process began with catalysis at Cu interface forming BG, followed by defect induction and bending at 'coalescence points' of neighboring BG, which act as nucleation sites for vertical growth. We reported that although classical thermal CVD mechanism initially dominates, growth of graphene later deviates a few nanometers from the interface to form GNWs. Nascent walls are no longer subjected to the catalytic action of Cu, and their development is dominated by the stitching of charged carbon species originating in the plasma with basal plane edges., (© 2024.
