Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a prevalent chronic inflammatory skin disorder characterized by pruritic and eczematous lesions. Current treatment modalities often focus on symptomatic relief through topical moisturizers to restore impaired skin barrier function. Bioactive glasses, such as 45S5 and 59S compositions, have gained attention for their potential therapeutic applications in dermatological conditions due to their biocompatibility, bioactivity, and ability to promote wound healing. In this study, we explore the feasibility and efficacy of utilizing electrospun polyvinyl butyral (PVB) fibrous patches infused with bioactive glass particles as a novel approach for moisturizing therapy in AD. The electrospun PVB fibrous patches were fabricated through a simple and scalable electrospinning technique, incorporating bioactive glass particles. Physicochemical properties, including morphology, mechanical strength, and bioactive properties, were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tensile testing, and in- vitro bioactivity. Additionally, the protein absorption kinetics of the fibrous patches were evaluated. Furthermore, in-vitro hemocompatibility, cell viability studies and live/dead assay were conducted to assess the biocompatibility of the bioactive glass-infused PVB fibrous patches. The modern healthcare system strives to provide patients with more comfortable and less invasive experiences, focusing on noninvasive and painless diagnostic and treatment methods. A key priority is the early diagnosis of life-threatening diseases, which can significantly improve patient outcomes by enabling treatment at earlier stages. While most patients must undergo diagnostic procedures before beginning treatment, many existing methods are invasive, time-consuming, and inconvenient. To address these challenges, electrochemical-based wearable and point-of-care (PoC) sensing devices have emerged, playing a crucial role in the noninvasive, continuous, periodic, and remote monitoring of key biomarkers. Due to their numerous advantages, several wearable and PoC devices have been developed. In this focused review, we explore the advancements in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs)-based wearable and PoC devices. MOFs are porous crystalline materials that are cost-effective, biocompatible, and can be synthesized sustainably on a large scale, making them promising candidates for sensor development. However, research on MOF-based wearable and PoC sensors remains limited, and no comprehensive review has yet to synthesize the existing knowledge in this area. This review aims to fill that gap by emphasizing the design of materials, fabrication methodologies, sensing mechanisms, device construction, and real-world applicability of these sensors. Additionally, we underscore the importance and potential of MOF-based wearable and PoC sensors for advancing healthcare technologies. In conclusion, this review sheds light on the current state of the art, the challenges faced, and the opportunities ahead in MOF-based wearable and PoC sensing technologies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Various finger dimensions of interdigitated electrodes in TiO2-B2O3 nanocomposite sensors were proposed in this study. To study the silver diffusement effect on the hydrogen sensing characteristics at different operating temperatures. The result showed that some of the silver particles diffused to the surface of the TiO2-B2O3 nanocomposite sensor after the annealing process at 500°C. The amount of silver particles diffused into the TiO2-B2O3 surface was contributed by the finger dimension of the interdigitated electrode used in the nanocomposite sensor. The results revealed that the structure of interdigitated electrodes in T65 nanocomposite sensor enhanced the performance at low hydrogen concentrations with response values were approximately 4.78, 11.47, 14.47, 16.58, and 20.00 for 100 ppm, 300 ppm, 500 ppm, 700 ppm, and 1000 ppm, respectively, at the optimum operating temperature of 200°C. The activation energy for all nanocomposite sensors was approximately in the range of 40–70 kJ/mol. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
