At the beginning of the twenty-first century, a generation of children crossed the border from the United States to begin their lives anew in Mexico. While all were international migrants, their roots spread far and wide. Some were migrant returnees born in Mexico; others had only ever known a life in the United States. Distinguishing returnees from new arrivals seems simple, but defining these youths'affiliations in their new homes in Mexico is much more complex and yields new insights that enrich our contemporary understanding of inclusion and belonging. This book is the product of twenty-five years'worth of fruitful interdisciplinary dialogue and research on these children's trajectories, tracing their journeys and studying integration—or lack thereof—into Mexican society and institutions.

14. Mechanism of Ferulic Acid in PI3K/AKT Pathway and Research in Glioblastoma.

- Abstract
Phenolic acids and their analogues in nature exist in many diseases of oxidative stress with beneficial effects on human health (such as cancer). Phenolic acids possess a variety of pharmacological activities, with anti-inflammatory, anticancer and cytotoxic, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, insecticidal and other biological activities. Numerous in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that because phenolic acids have antioxidant capacity, they can reflect their strong anticancer potential by regulating cell growth and metastasis and promoting cancer cell death. Studies have shown that the consumption of natural polyphenols can significantly reduce the risk of cancer metastasis. A combination of phenolic acids with traditional chemoradiation or other polyphenols may be effective in reducing cancer spread.Ferulic acid is ubiquitous, and widely found in plants, such as angelica, chuanxiong, cohote, three, edge, reed root, tomato, sweet corn, and rice are produced by the metabolism of phenylalanine and tyrosine. It is the most abundant hydroxyl cassia bark-acid acid in the plant kingdom, with anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anticancer and antioxidant activity, and polyphenols composed of hydroxyl cassia bark-acid derivatives, flavone-3-alcohol and flavonol retain non-cancer-cells-and-significantly-inhibit glioblastoma viability in a dose-dependent manner, which deserves further investigation as potential anticancer drugs. This paper summarizes the role of ferulic acid in the PI3K / AKT pathway and its mechanism in glioblastoma resistance.

15. Faculty perception of resident promotion and prevention associated behaviors in the operating room to facilitate intra-operative learning.

- Abstract
Background: Previous work has demonstrated that residents are able to accurately perceive the intraoperative motivational style of faculty. Additionally, alignment of motivational style between residents and faculty has been demonstrated to enhance resident intraoperative autonomy. This study evaluated if faculty perception of resident behaviors aligned with resident self-perception in order to identify ways of enhancing intraoperative learning., Methods: General surgery residents were asked to complete a self-assessment evaluating their own intraoperative behaviors. Conversely, faculty rated how strongly the residents exhibited these behaviors in the operating room., Results: Of the 10 intraoperative behaviors that were evaluated, eight demonstrated no correlation between resident self-perception and faculty perception of resident behavior. Similarly, inconsistent correlations emerged when behaviors were assessed according to the self-reported gender and race of the resident., Conclusion: Faculty are not able to accurately perceive the motivational style of residents. 16. ChatGPT Responses to Common Questions About Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Are Frequently Satisfactory.

- Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate ChatGPT responses to common questions patients have regarding anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction., Methods: Ten frequently asked questions regarding ACL tears and ACL reconstruction were chosen from the frequently asked questions found on the websites of major institutions. These were presented to ChatGPT and responses were rated as "excellent response not requiring clarification," "satisfactory requiring minimal clarification," "satisfactory requiring moderate clarification," or "unsatisfactory requiring substantial clarification.", Results: Four responses were satisfactory, requiring minimal clarification, 3 were satisfactory, requiring moderate clarification, 2 were unsatisfactory, and 1 was excellent, requiring no clarification., Conclusions: As hypothesized, ChatGPT provided generally accurate information to common questions around ACL reconstruction. 17. Exploring the Potential Link between Aluminum-Containing Deodorants/Antiperspirants and Breast Cancer: A Comprehensive Review.

- Abstract
The potential association between aluminum-containing deodorants/antiperspirants and breast cancer has been investigated and debated. This paper comprehensively analyzes existing literature to examine the evidence and provide insights into this relationship. This comprehensive review discusses aspects related to the absorption and distribution of aluminum compounds, its effects on the induction of oxidative stress, the estrogenic activity of aluminum, and potential disruption of hormonal pathways, and the potential role in breast cancer induction. Currently, available research, consisting of epidemiological studies as well as clinical trials, together with meta-analyses and previously published reviews conducted on identifying the relationship between aluminum-containing deodorants/antiperspirants and the risk of breast cancer were also analyzed and discussed. Societal factors, personal hygiene considerations, and lifestyle changes contribute to the increased usage of antiperspirants, but they do not establish a direct causal connection with breast cancer. Further research employing larger-scale studies and rigorous methodologies must validate the existing findings and explore the underlying mechanisms involved. 18. Estimated number of spine surgeries and related deaths in Japan from 2014 to 2020.

- Abstract
Background: The total number of spine surgeries per year and their related deaths in Japan has not been adequately estimated in the literature., Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups of Japan (NDB) between April 2014 to March 2021, which covers 99.9 % of health insurance claim receipts by general practitioners. The annual number of surgeries was counted using K codes, a procedure classification unique to Japan, and classified into the following six categories; percutaneous vertebroplasty, endoscopic surgery, open discectomy, laminoplasty/laminectomy, instrumentation surgery, and others. The data distribution was also summarized by sex and age. Additionally, by reviewing DPC database-related papers for evaluation of the mortality rate after spine surgery in Japan, the number of spine surgery-related deaths was calculated., Results: The NDB showed that the number of spine surgeries analyzed in this study increased from 170,081 in 2014 to 193,903 in 2019, with a slight decrease in 2020. The ratio of instrumentation surgery increased from 33.0 % in 2014 to 37.9 % in 2020. The rate of patients aged 75 or older increased 31.6 % to 39.6 %. Combining these findings with DPC data showing a mortality rate of 0.1 % to 0.4 % revealed that the estimated number of deaths related to spine surgery in Japan ranged from 200 to 800 per year., Conclusions: Approximately 200,000 spine surgeries and 200 to 800 spine surgery-related inpatient deaths were estimated to have occurred in Japan around 2020., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest No benefits in any form have been or will be received from a commercial party related directly to the subject of this manuscript. - Abstract
Background: Prostate cancer (PC) is the second most common cancer in men worldwide. It's the second leading cause cancer men in death. Prognostic tests based on molecular and biomarker analysis of tumor tissue may improve risk stratification of prostate cancer 2., Materials and Methods: After a search on Pubmed for PC biomarkers, 72 papers responded to the objectives and will be included in the review., Results: A plethora of biomarkers are predictive for the prognosis of PC and its response to certain therapies, while others, once thought to be indicative of prognosis in PC, were not., Conclusions: This study can help in the development of diagnostic and prognostic tests of PC and contribute to the ongoing research into already existing tests.

- Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) has truly revolutionized many fields, including healthcare. In radiation oncology, AI has emerged as a powerful tool for improving the speed, accuracy and overall quality of radiotherapy treatments. The radiotherapy workflow involves complex processes that require coordination between healthcare professionals with diverse skills. AI and deep learning methods offer unprecedented potential to transform this workflow by leveraging imaging modalities, digital data processing and advanced software algorithms. Despite the revolutionary potential, challenges remain in seamlessly integrating AI into clinical workflows. Ethical considerations, data privacy, and algorithm interpretability necessitate cautious implementation. Additionally, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between AI experts and radiation oncologists is imperative to harness the technology's full potential. This paper explores the impact of AI in four key areas of radiotherapy: automated segmentation, dosimetric and machine quality assurance, adaptive radiation therapy, and clinical outcome prediction.
