Students' seating selection is a significant physical variable that has implications for both teachers and students. These seating preferences have been linked to students' personalities, motivation, and academic performance. However, there is limited knowledge regarding the cultural influences on these preferences. In this exploratory qualitative study, we aim to investigate the cultural factors that influence the seating choices of undergraduate students. The study participants were recruited using purposive sampling. Face-to-face interviews and scenario simulation surveys were utilized to collect data, which was analyzed using thematic analysis. The study's findings suggest that seating preferences are largely a function of individual differences and personal preferences, which often stem from personal and cultural factors. These factors are discussed under five primary themes: course academic value, gaining positive experiences, avoiding negative experiences, modesty and humility, and social belonging. These findings have implications for teaching and learning and for instructors, especially those from foreign cultures.

Self-efficacy, perceived social support, and resilience in caregivers of first-stroke patients are closely related, while the interaction mechanism remains unclear. This research explores the mediation effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between perceived social support and resilience in caregivers of first-stroke patients in China. Convenience sampling was designed and used to recruit participants from the General Hospital of Northern Theater in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China, from February to October 2022, in which 207 self-reported participants completed the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and General Self Efficacy Scale (GSES). In addition, the mediation effect of self-efficacy between perceived social support and resilience was determined by the PROCESS macro for SPSS. Among the 207 caregivers of patients with first-stroke, the mean CD-RISC, MSPPS and GSES scores were (72.17 ± 11.28), (71.17 ± 8.99), and (29.64 ± 5.03) respectively. Caregivers' self-efficacy was positively correlated with perceived social support (r = 0.439, p < 0.01) and resilience (r = 0.730, p < 0.01). Self-efficacy served a mediation function partially between perceived social support and resilience, whose effect accounted for 52.90% of the total. Both simple and mediation roles of perceived social support and self-efficacy are established in the relationship of resilience among caregivers of first-stroke patients. Positive social support and self-efficacy are two important targets for future interventional studies, and interventions on them may synergistically improve resilience. Hence, the nurses and community workers should correctly evaluate social support and self-efficacy, confirm the health education requirements, and implement counseling intervention to protect and improve the health of first-stroke patients and their families. Marital concerns can trigger emotional stress, especially among long‐term hospitalised individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, significantly affecting their treatment and recovery. Unfortunately, rehabilitation programs tend to overlook the marital needs of individuals with diagnosed schizophrenia. This research aimed to investigate the content related to marital concerns of Chinese individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia who were undergoing extended hospitalisation. Fifteen participants diagnosed with schizophrenia were recruited through purposive sampling for face‐to‐face semi‐structured interviews. The gathered data were analysed using Colaizzi's method, revealing three themes: (1) manifestations of marriage‐related concerns, (2) effects of marriage on disease progression, and (3) the need for support from family and the hospital. This study offers new insights into marital concerns among long‐term schizophrenia inpatients and underscores the significance of screening and intervention for such concerns. Objective: To explore the clinical epidemiological characteristics of oral lichen planus (OLP) and risk factors for erosive/ulcerative OLP. Materials and Methods: Patients diagnosed with OLP from 11 different hospitals were included in the study. Descriptive statistical methods were used to explore the clinical epidemiological characteristics and logistic regression, sensitivity analysis, and subgroup analysis were utilized to explore the risk factors for erosive/ulcerative OLP. Results: The average age of patients was 49.2 ± 13.3 years, and 61.4% of the patients were women. The ratios of patients with reticular, hyperemic/erythematous, and erosive/ulcerative lesions were 47.9%, 27.8%, and 24.2%, respectively. Analysis of risk factors for erosive/ulcerative OLP identified the following variables: age, course of disease of 12 months or more, II°–III° dental calculus, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease, as well as regions of habitation. Subgroup analysis showed significant differences in risk factors for erosive/ulcerative OLP in patients with and without risk behaviors. Conclusion: The clinical epidemiological characteristics of patients with OLP in the Chinese population in this study are basically consistent with existing reports in developed countries. This paper studies the impacts of geographic proximity and investment connection on the outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) decisions by Chinese multinational firms, including both greenfield investment and cross‐border merger and acquisition. We model firms' OFDI expansion with the lagged spatial structure, and collect outward FDI data of 3479 Chinese multinational firms from 2002 to 2013 whose investment destination covers more than 160 countries. We find that the spatial expansion of firms' existing OFDI play an important role in shaping their future investment decisions. Firstly, firms tends to invest in destinations that are closer to China, and expand further into destinations that are geographically closer to their existing OFDI locations. This is the geographic network effect. Secondly, we also find that firms are more likely to invest in countries with more intense FDI from China, and extend their OFDI networks to destinations with stronger investment connections with their existing subsidiary locations. Objectives: The molecular characteristics of oral lichen planus (OLP) are still unclear, and it is not possible to distinguish the clinical outcome of OLP patients in a short period of time for follow‐up. Here, we investigate the molecular characteristics of lesions in patients with stable lichen planus (SOLP) and recalcitrant erosive oral lichen planus (REOLP). Methods: Our clinical follow‐up cohort was split into SOLP and REOLP groups based on the follow‐up clinical data. The core modules associated with the clinical information were identified by weighted gene co‐expression network analysis (WGCNA). The OLP cohort samples were divided into two groups by molecular typing, and a prediction model for OLP was created by training neural networks with the neuralnet package. Results: We screened 546 genes in five modules. After doing a molecular type of OLP, it was determined that B cells might have a significant impact on the clinical outcome of OLP. In addition, by means of machine learning, a prediction model was developed to predict the clinical regression of OLP with greater accuracy than the existing clinical diagnostic. Background: Returning to work (RTW) has always been regarded as one of the important indicators to evaluate the therapeutic effect of patients with schizophrenia. The existing studies on RTW in patients with schizophrenia are mostly focused on intervention measures, and the qualitative research on RTW is very limited. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the experience of the RTW after treatment in patients with schizophrenia. Method: A longitudinal qualitative study was conducted involving 24 patients with schizophrenia in China. The interviews were held at three time-points during their RTW process, (1) when patients had improved and were close to discharge, (2) within 1 month post-discharge, and (3) 6 months post-discharge. The interview recordings were transcribed by the research team, and transcripts were independently analyzed by two independent coders using reflexive thematic analysis. Results: A total of 24 patients with schizophrenia participated in 72 personal interviews. The thematic framework based on the experience of patients with schizophrenia reveals a three-phases of the process of RTW: improved, being at a loss, and job crisis. The study identified one theme of the first phase: the expectation and optimism. Two themes in the second phase: (1) psychological distress of upcoming work; (2) expectation of assistance pre-work. And four themes in the third phase: (1) tremendous pressure of RTW; (2) lack of medical and social support; (3) social status and interpersonal relationships change; and (4) high level of financial pressure. Conclusion: The experience of RTW is a dynamic process with great challenges in each phase, patients with schizophrenia have been deeply affected by what they have experienced. There is an urgent need to ensure that existing community and social support is integrated into daily care to support patients with schizophrenia to RTW successful. The findings of this study also suggest relevant departments and employers should be aware of the barriers to RTW for patients with schizophrenia, and take certain measures to change the current situation. Background: Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum are closely related protozoan parasites that are considered important causes of abortion in livestock, causing huge economic losses. Hunan Province ranks 12th in the production of beef and mutton in China. However, limited data are available on the seroprevalence, risk factors and molecular characterization of T. gondii and N. caninum in beef cattle and goats in Hunan province, China. Methods: Sera of 985 beef cattle and 1147 goats were examined for the presence of specific antibodies against T. gondii using indirect hemagglutination test (IHAT) and anti-N. caninum IgG using competitive-inhibition enzyme-linked immunoassay assay (cELISA). Statistical analysis of possible risk factors was performed using PASW Statistics. Muscle samples of 160 beef cattle and 160 goats were examined for the presence of T. gondii DNA (B1 gene) and N. caninum DNA (Nc-5 gene) by nested PCR. The B1 gene-positive samples were genotyped at 10 genetic markers using the multilocus nested PCR-RFLP (Mn-PCR-RFLP). Results: Specific IgG against T. gondii were detected in 8.3% (82/985) and 13.3% (153/1147) and against N. caninum in 2.1% (21/985) and 2.0% (23/1147) of the beef cattle and goats, respectively. Based on statistical analysis, the presence of cats, semi-intensive management mode and gender were identified as significant risk factors for T. gondii infection in beef cattle. Age was a significant risk factor for T. gondii infection in goats (P < 0.05), and age > 3 years was a significant risk factor for N. caninum infection in beef cattle (P < 0.05). PCR positivity for T. gondii was observed in three beef samples (1.9%; 3/160) and seven chevon samples (4.4%; 7/160). Genotyping of PCR positive samples identified one to be ToxoDB#10. The N. caninum DNA was observed in one beef sample (0.6%; 1/160) but was negative in all chevon samples. Conclusions: To our knowledge, this is the first large-scale serological and molecular investigation of T. gondii and N. caninum and assessment of related risk factors in beef cattle and goats in Hunan Province, China. Chinese migrants face numerous socioeconomic disadvantages. Little is understood about their vulnerability to consumer financial fraud, which can impede their integration into urban China and hamper the national priority of continued urbanization. This study utilizes nationally representative data from 2015 China Household Finance Survey to investigate migrants' risk factors for consumer financial fraud across two stages: fraud exposure and victimization. Results reveal a distinct pattern of fraud risks based on migrant status and stages of fraud, partially supporting theories of disadvantaged consumer and routine activity. After adjusting for other factors, urban migrants exhibit a 28.2% higher likelihood of encountering fraud than urban residents, with rural migrants having a 57.3% higher probability of overall victimization. Recent movers face a higher risk. Market and digital engagement emerge as key factors influencing fraud exposure. These results underscore the necessity for targeted policy interventions aimed at fostering inclusive urbanization and promoting rural-urban integration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Jilin clawed salamander (Onychodactylus zhangyapingi) is an endemic, endangered, and level‐two protected amphibian species of China. In the context of serious threats to amphibians worldwide, conservation studies of this endangered species are urgently needed. In this study, mitogenomic conservation genetics and species distribution modeling analyses were performed for O. zhangyapingi. Sixty‐three samples were collected from nine different locations, and the complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced. Population genetic analyses revealed that O. zhangyapingi exhibits only one genetic structure with extremely low nucleotide diversity. Late Pleistocene climate cooling may have led to a reduction in effective population size and extremely low mitogenomic nucleotide diversity in this salamander, and the subsequent temperature increase (~20 kya to present) provided the opportunity for rapid population growth. The continuous highly suitable region for O. zhangyapingi is only approximately 3000 km2 on the southeastern boundary of Jilin Province, China. Fortunately, there are three large forested national nature reserves within the distribution of O. zhangyapingi that can effectively protect endangered species. Our findings suggest that O. zhangyapingi is a vulnerable species with a narrow distribution and extremely low genetic diversity, and we should pay more attention to the conservation management of this species. As internet privacy concern (IPC) keeps spiking, it is imperative to reexamine privacy concern among social media users in a cross-cultural context. Using the purposive sampling method, this study recruited 1,340 social media users aged 18–82 in the United State and China. It integrates medium theory and cultural perspectives to study IPC by analyzing the technological antecedents of social media use among young users who grew up with social media and their "digital immigrant" parents who did not. U.S. and Chinese respondents were concerned about IPC regardless of their genders. Young people reported a lower IPC level than elder users. IPC was negatively related to social media power use, but not to social media habitual use. Some cultural differences were revealed. Among those aged 18–25, U.S. users had significantly lower IPC than their Chinese counterparts. In those aged 50+, little difference concerning IPC existed between U.S. and Chinese users. This study represents the first attempt of integrating both technology and cultural perspectives to examine internet privacy concern. The findings, including one's cultural background moderating the association between social media power use and IPC, should contribute to a better understanding of privacy concerns in a cross-cultural setting. Research Findings: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Puhui early education services (PEES) policy in China from the triangulated perspectives of stakeholders using a developed and validated scale. First, applying a stratified cluster sampling method, the Puhui Early Education Services Policy Effectiveness Scale (PE) was developed and validated with 85 principals, 909 kindergarten teachers, and 4,128 parents. Second, the psychometric properties indicated that the PE was a reliable and valid scale with three constructs: accessibility, affordability, and quality. Third, descriptive statistics found that Chinese stakeholders submitted a positive evaluation of the PEES policy effectiveness, with the construct of quality ranked the highest and that of affordability the lowest. Fourth, parents have fewer positive evaluations compared to principals and teachers, while stakeholders from Puhui private kindergartens have more positive evaluations compared to those from public kindergartens. Last, hierarchical regression analysis found that kindergarten type and rating were critical positive predictors after controlling for demographic and urbanicity factors. Practice or Policy: These findings indicate that it is necessary to understand parents' policy expectations and improve the financial distribution to ensure sustainable and high-quality development of the PEES. The flow duration curve (FDC) is the cumulative distribution function, which represents the relationship between the frequency and magnitude of streamflow, and the precipitation duration curves (PDC) follows the same principle. Nowadays, the correlation between the shape of PDC and FDCs, their respective physical control factors including human activities, and their fitting conditions in unmeasured catchments across China have not been fully understood. In this paper, daily precipitation and streamflow data with 30 years records from 224 hydrological stations in the middle and lower Yangtze River basin were chosen to fit PDC and FDCs through gamma distribution. Framework was proposed for modelling FDCs to analyse the relationship, similarity, regional patterns and response mechanism of fitting parameters between PDC and FDCs, dividing the streamflow time series into fast and base flow and stations into three categories in consideration of human activities to attribute the shapes of PDC and FDCs to catchment meteorological and geographical characteristics and physical processes under natural conditions. Results indicate that the parameters of PDC and certain FDCs (TFDC, FFDC, SFDC) share similar spatial patterns but vary for the different duration and interactions of the processes. The climate and catchment characteristics such as extreme properties of precipitation, base flow index (BFI), Pmax*αp and concentration ratio index (CIM) will influence the shape of PDC and FDCs. The relationship between BFI and SFDC/TFDC can be better reflected in "Regulated watersheds", while CIM/Pmax*αp and PDC/FFDC in "watersheds in the mainstream" are more related. This paper provides a deeper understanding and more accurate way of the application of these parameters in describing and predicting hydrological processes and estimation of PDC and FDCs in unmeasured catchments, and can be applied to more future research about processes based on catchment rainfall‐runoff responses and physical controls. This study pivots from the broadly beneficial view of servant leadership and focuses on its negative effects on leaders themselves. Combining the constructionist approach with the job demands–resources (JD‐R) model, we propose the mutualism and parasitism paths and argue that servant leadership behaviors and followers' responses co‐construct leaders' emotional exhaustion. Specifically, we hypothesize that servant leadership influences followers' job demands and resources and, thus, predicts team taking charge and team dependence on leader. In turn, the two factors influence leaders' job demands and resources and, consequently, impact leaders' emotional exhaustion. Using two‐wave data of 385 employees from 83 teams, our results support the hypothesized model. Overall, our model and findings help explain the dark side of servant leadership. Guangzhou is located in the southern part of China, near the South China Sea, belongs to Guangdong Province. It serves as China's southern gateway to the world and was historically called "The Southern Treasure of the Emperor", playing a crucial role in China's maritime trade history. Throughout Chinese history, Guangzhou underwent several cycles of "closure" and "opening", policies that severely impacted trade. However, foreign merchants never ceased to request permission from the Chinese government to engage in trade. In 1757, Emperor Qianlong decreed Guangzhou as the only one official port for foreign trade. This edict led to the establishment of the one port trading system in Guangzhou, as the Qing government aimed to counter foreign influences and local uprisings while maintaining a self-sufficient small-scale agricultural economy. Western nations and their traders sought opportunities within this system, aspiring to expand trade to other regions of China, even the inland areas. The exclusive status of Guangzhou as China's only one trading port persisted until 1842, following the defeat of the Qing government in the Opium War against Britain, the Nanjing Treaty was signed. This treaty opened Guangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, Fuzhou, and Xiamen as trading ports, bringing an end to the one port trading system. The reasons and impacts of the establishment of this system have not been comprehensively analyzed to date. Therefore, this paper based on historical archives, analyzes both the direct and underlying reasons behind Emperor Qianlong's decision and elucidates the system's diverse impacts on various aspects of Qing-era China. Purpose: The benefits of physical activity (PA) are widely recognized, but the intensity of PA in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients with varying disease activity levels remains controversial. We aimed to investigate the relationship between PA levels, fatigue, and other health-related quality of life (QoL) in Chinese IBD patients.Patients and Methods: The study is a cross-sectional investigation conducted at a comprehensive IBD diagnosis and treatment facility in East China, spanning from August 2022 to February 2023. A total of 245 participants were initially enrolled, and after excluding individuals with incomplete data about crucial exposure and outcome variables, the final sample size amounted to 237. Participants were provided with a questionnaire encompassing sociodemographic factors, clinical information, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI-20), and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ). Correlation analysis was employed to assess the relationship between variables.Results: A majority of participants (144) exhibited low levels of PA. Furthermore, 40.5% of all participants reported experiencing fatigue. Individuals with low levels of PA had an average MIF-20 score of 62.9± 16.0. Correlation analysis showed that PA was significantly and negatively associated with fatigue (r = − 0.224, p < 0.001). Additionally, PA was also negatively correlated with anxiety (r = − 0.150, p < 0.05) and depression (r = − 0.242, p < 0.001). On the other hand, PA was positively correlated with quality of life (QoL) (r = 0.171, p < 0.01). Furthermore, our analysis indicated that sleep disorders were positively associated with both anxiety (r = 0.349, p < 0.01) and depression (r = 0.354, p < 0.001).Conclusion: The levels of PA are significantly low, and there is a high prevalence of fatigue among individuals with IBD. The Zijinshan district, Fujian Province, southeastern China, is a globally renowned Cu Au orefield and hosts a wide variety of ore deposits within the Zijinshan granite complex and surrounding volcano-sedimentary rocks. We performed Fe S isotope analysis on pyrite separates from the Zijinshan high-sulfidation epithermal deposit, Yueyang intermediate-sulfidation epithermal deposit, Wuziqilong transition-type (from high-sulfidation epithermal to porphyry) deposit, and Jintonghu porphyry Cu Mo deposit, aiming to understand the formation process of Fe-sulfides and the evolution of ore-forming fluids in different deposits. Pyrites from the Jintonghu porphyry Cu Mo deposit show variations in δ56Fe and δ34S from −0.15 ‰ to 0. 45 ‰, and from 1.81 ‰ to 2.70 ‰, respectively. In contrast, pyrites from epithermal-type deposits (i.e., Zijinshan, Yueyang, and Wuziqilong) show a negatively shifted Fe isotopic composition from −1.74 ‰ to 0.45 ‰. The combination of Fe isotopic data from the Jintonghu porphyry Cu Mo deposit with published minerals-fluid fractionation factors and the use of a Rayleigh fractionation model allowed us to determine the δ56Fe range of regional ore-forming fluids (−1.00 ‰ to −0.40 ‰), which is consistent with the previous "light fluid" hypothesis, suggesting that pyrite of porphyry Cu Mo deposits has isotopic compositions reflecting the isotopic value of the hydrothermal fluids. For the epithermal deposits, pyrite Fe isotopic composition is the result of a complex interaction of Rayleigh fractionation, rapid precipitation and kinetic fractionation, and δ56Fe values of the initial fluids is difficult to estimate. Integrating the Fe and S isotope data for pyrite of different genesis, we found that porphyry Cu Mo deposits (δ56Fe: −0.9 ‰ to 0.46 ‰; δ34S: −4.06 ‰ to 3.9 ‰) can be distinguished from a non-magmatic/low-temperature region, while the transitional area of which may be a porphyry-related hydrothermal deposit (i.e., epithermal deposit). In general, we suggest that the Fe and S isotopic signatures of pyrite can effectively distinguish porphyry-type deposits from their associated hydrothermal deposits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Marine ecological restoration is not only an important means to ensure the continuous delivery of ecosystem services by marine ecosystems, but also a socioeconomic process of economic investment and value recovery. Identifying the links to the benefits accrued to society from ecological restoration is of significant importance for achieving successful conservation outcomes and guiding financial investments in ecological restoration. This paper aims to analyze the action mechanism of marine ecological restoration on ecological, economic and social benefits in China. The research hypothesis of ecological, economic, and social benefits generated by marine ecological restoration was first proposed from a theoretical research perspective. On this basis, a structural equation model was employed to validate theoretical assumptions and quantitatively analyze the mechanism of ecological, economic, and social benefits generated by marine ecological restoration in China. We find that marine ecological restoration can improve the level of marine ecosystem services and have a significant positive impact on promoting economic and social development. The results indicate that marine ecological restoration has the greatest impact on social benefits, followed by ecological benefits, and finally on economic benefits, and this result is consistent with the original intention of marine ecological restoration, which aims to directly improve the ecosystem services and social welfare level and indirectly drive economic development. Interpreting regulatory documents or building codes into computer-processable formats is essential for the intelligent design and construction of buildings and infrastructures. Although automated rule interpretation (ARI) methods have been investigated for years, most of them are highly dependent on the early and manual filtering of interpretable clauses from a building code. While few of them considered machine interpretability, which represents the potential to be transformed into a computer-processable format, from both clause- and document-level. Therefore, this research aims to propose a novel approach to automatically evaluate and enhance the machine interpretability of single clauses and building codes. First, a few categories are introduced to classify each clause in a building code considering the requirements for rule interpretation, and a dataset is developed for model training. Then, an efficient text classification model is developed based on a pretrained domain-specific language model and transfer learning techniques. Finally, a quantitative evaluation method is proposed to assess the overall interpretability of building codes. Experiments show that the proposed text classification algorithm outperforms the existing CNN- or RNN-based methods, by improving the F1-score from 72.16% to 93.60%. It is also illustrated that the proposed classification method can enhance downstream ARI methods with an improvement of 4%. Furthermore, analysis of more than 150 building codes in China showed that their average interpretability is only 34.40%, which implies that it is still difficult to fully transform an entire regulatory document into computer-processable formats. It is also argued that the interpretability of building codes should be further improved both from the human side (considering certain constraints when writing building codes) and the machine side (developing more powerful algorithms, tools, etc.). This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Gekko coil system in treating intracranial aneurysms (IAs) in clinical practice. A prospective multicenter randomized open-label parallel positive control noninferiority trial was conducted by 11 centers in China. Patients with a target IA were randomized 1:1 to coiling with either Gekko or Axium coils. The primary outcome was successful aneurysm occlusion at 6 months postoperative follow-up, whereas the secondary outcomes included the successful occlusion aneurysm rate in the immediate postoperative period, recanalization rate at the 6 months follow-up, and technical success and security. Between May 2018 and September 2020, 256 patients were enrolled and randomized. Per-protocol analysis showed that the successful aneurysm occlusion rate at 6 months was 96.08% for the Gekko coil group compared with 96.12% in the Axium coil group, with a difference of –0.04% (P = 0.877). The successful immediate aneurysm occlusion rates were 86.00% and 77.45% in the Gekko coil group and the Axium coil group, respectively, showing no significant difference between the 2 groups (P = 0.116), whereas the recanalization rates during the 6 months follow-up were 2.02% and 1.96% in the Gekko and Axium coil groups, respectively, which was not statistically significant (P = 1.000). This trial showed that the Gekko coil system was noninferior to the Axium coil system in terms of efficacy and safety for IA embolization. Coal is the primary fossil fuel in China's energy sector. As the amount of mining continues to increase, the high concentration of dust generated poses a severe threat to equipment and frontline workers. The coupling influence of HCl and temperature on the structure and wettability of coal were conducted by experiments. The phenomenon indicates that the contact angle between coal treated with HCl of different temperatures and water is reduced, the settling distance in an aqueous solution is longer, and the effect is significant with the increase of temperature, demonstrating the acid-thermal coupling solution improves the wettability of coal. Secondly, detailed analysis of coal functional groups and surface element, shows that the percentage of hydrophilic groups increased, such as OH⋯O, free –OH, and hydrophobic groups were destroyed, such as the asymmetric deformation vibration of adjacent H. The L, 'C' , and DOC show an increasing trend, while I first increase and then decrease by analyzing the trends of IR indices of coal. The conclusions prove that the degree of coal deterioration changed after treatment with acid-thermal coupling conditions. • Evaporative fraction increased by 16–49 % on cloudy days compared with clear days. • Clearness index controlled evaporative fraction through direct and indirect paths. • High NDVI reduced evaporative fraction response to cloudiness. Cloudiness influences gross primary productivity and evapotranspiration in terrestrial ecosystems by increasing diffuse radiation and improving the photosynthesis of shaded leaves. However, the effect of cloudiness on energy partitioning in terrestrial ecosystems is not well understood. Using latent heat (LE) and sensible heat (H) datasets observed by the eddy covariance systems and meteorological variables, the regulation of biophysical factors on energy partitioning under different sky conditions was investigated at 6 plantation ecosystems (2 deciduous broadleaf and 4 coniferous plantations) in eastern China from 2019 to 2021. The averages of evaporative fraction (EF) during the growing season were 0.34±0.06–0.50±0.04. The EF values increased by 16−49% on cloudy days, which was attributed to the lower decrease in LE compared to H. On the half-hourly scale, EF was mainly driven by air temperature (T a), relative extractable soil water (REW) and clearness index (CI) (i.e., a metric to quantify cloudiness). For plantation ecosystems, CI had an indirect effect on EF mainly through net radiation (R n). Moreover, the positive effect of cloudy sky conditions on EF was higher under low T a , vapor pressure deficit (VPD) and REW conditions. The increment of EF on cloudy days was weaker at high normalized difference vegetation index, which may be explained by higher T a and VPD limiting canopy transpiration during the mid-growing season. Cloudiness can also influence energy partitioning by regulating stomatal behavior in plantation ecosystems. Background: B-type natriuretic peptide or N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide is the only blood biomarker in established risk calculators for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Profiling systemic-originated plasma immunoglobulin G (IgG) N-glycans, which reflect different components of the pathophysiology of PAH including immune dysregulation and inflammation, may improve PAH risk assessment., Objectives: This study sought to identify plasma IgG N-glycan biomarkers that predict survival in PAH to improve risk assessment., Methods: This cohort study examined 622 PAH patients from 2 national centers (Beijing [discovery] cohort: n = 273; Shanghai [validation] cohort: n = 349). Plasma IgG N-glycomes were profiled by a robust mass spectrometry-based method. Prognostic IgG N-glycan traits were identified and validated in the 2 cohorts using Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier survival analyses. The added value of IgG N-glycan traits to previously established risk models was assessed using Harrell C-indexes and survival analysis., Results: Plasma IgG fucosylation was found to predict survival independent of age and sex in the discovery cohort (HR: 0.377; 95% CI: 0.168-0.845; P = 0.018) with confirmation in the validation cohort (HR: 0.445; 95% CI: 0.264-0.751; P = 0.005). IgG fucosylation remained a robust predictor of mortality in combined cohorts after full adjustment and in subgroup analyses. Integrating IgG fucosylation into previously established risk models improved their predictive capacity, marked by an overall elevation in Harrell C-indexes. Schistosomiasis remains a formidable challenge to global public health. This study aims to predict the spatial distribution of schistosomiasis seropositive rates in Hunan Province, pinpointing high-risk transmission areas and advocating for tailored control measures in low-endemic regions. Six machine learning models and their corresponding hybrid machine learning-Kriging models were employed to predict the seropositive rate. The optimal model was selected through internal and external validations to simulate the spatial distribution of seropositive rates. Our results showed that the hybrid machine learning-Kriging model demonstrated superior predictive performance compared to basic machine learning model and the Cubist-Kriging model emerged as the most optimal model for this study. The predictive map revealed elevated seropositive rates around Dongting Lake and its waterways with significant clustering, notably in the central and northern regions of Yiyang City and the northeastern areas of Changde City. The model identified gross domestic product, annual average wind speed and the nearest distance from the river as the top three predictors of seropositive rates, with annual average daytime surface temperature contributing the least. In conclusion, our research has revealed that integrating the Kriging method significantly enhances the predictive performance of machine learning models. We developed a Cubist-Kriging model with high predictive performance to forecast the spatial distribution of schistosomiasis seropositive rates. Background: Schistosomiasis is a global public health issue. In China, while the seroprevalence of Schistosomiasis japonica has currently reduced to a relatively low level, risk of infection still exists in certain areas. However, there has been a lack of comprehensive research on the long-term trends of national seroprevalence, changes across age groups, and characteristics in spatial distribution, which is crucial for effectively targeting interventions and achieving the goal of eliminating schistosomiasis by 2030. Our study aimed to address this gap by analyzing the long-term trends of Schistosomiasis japonica seroprevalence in China from 1982 to 2020 based on the data from diverse sources spanning a period of 39 years., Methodology: Seroprevalence data were collected from literature databases and national schistosomiasis surveillance system. Meta-analysis was conducted to estimate the seroprevalence. Joinpoint model was used to identify changing trend and inflection point. Inverse distance weighted interpolation was used to determine the spatial distribution of seroprevalence., Principal Findings: The seroprevalence decreased from 34.8% in 1982 to 2.4% in 2020 in China. Before 2006, the seroprevalence was higher in the middle age group, and a pattern of increasing with age was observed afterwards. The areas with high seroprevalence existed in Dongting Lake, Poyang Lake, Jianghan Plain, the Anhui branch of the Yangtze River and some localized mountainous regions in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces., Conclusions/significance: There was a significant decline in the seroprevalence of Schistosomiasis japonica from 1982 to 2020 in China. Background: Academic pressure and frustration stimulation are significant stressors in college students, and response to the prolonged stimuli would cause adverse mental and physical outcomes. However, more is needed to know about the stress response and its predictors among undergraduate nursing students retaking failed course under the background of the abolition of the Final Supplementary Examination in China. This study aimed to investigate the stress response and its predictive factors of nursing student repeaters who are retaking at least one failed course., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted, utilizing convenience sampling to recruit 120 nursing student repeaters from four 4-year undergraduate medical universities in China between September 2020 and May 2021. Data collection instruments included a general information questionnaire, a stress response questionnaire, the Connor-Davidson resilience scale, a self-control scale, and a academic self-efficacy questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and multiple linear regression., Results: The average scores of the total stress response, emotional response, physical response, and behavioral response were 58.07 ± 26.72, 86.97 ± 17.12, 57.69 ± 9.75, 67.16 ± 9.22, respectively. Stress response was predicted by psychological resilience, self-control ability, academic self-efficacy and the number of retaking courses., Conclusions: The stress response among nursing student repeaters is relatively active. Higher psychological resilience, self-control ability, and academic self-efficacy predict lower levels of stress response. In order to help nursing students with failing and repeating course release their psychological stress and maintain well-being, nursing educators could adopt self-control promotion strategies and emphasize the cultivation of psychological resilience and academic self-efficacy as parts of health promotion programs for this particular student group., (© 2024. Sorghum ratooning, a time and labor-saving cultivation practice, is increasingly being adopted by farmers in Southwest China as an alternative. Efficient N fertilizer management is critical for economical production of sorghum and the long-term protection of the environment. To investigate the impact of N management on grain yield and nitrogen use efficiencies (NUEs) of ratoon sorghum system, a three-year field experiment was conducted for Jinyunuo3 (a hybrid cultivar) and Guojiaohong1 (an inbred cultivar) using 12 combinations of N rates and splitting ratios. The results showed that increasing N rate and splitting application times led to improvements in various growth parameters such as dry matter weight, crop growth rate (CGR), leaf area index (LAI), and photosynthetic potential (PP). The main, ratoon, and annual yields increased with N rate increase, but there was no significant difference between 225 and 150 kg N ha -1 in the ratoon and annual yields. Splitting the application of N fertilizer enhanced grain yield compared to a single dose application method, especially three-split applications yielded higher than two-split applications. Compared with N rates of 225 and 150 kg ha -1 , N rate of 75 kg ha -1 increased apparent recovery rate of applied nitrogen (RE N ), agronomic efficiency of applied nitrogen (AE N ), and partial factor productivity from applied nitrogen (PFP N ) in both main season and whole year. But through splitting application methods at high N rates could achieve similar or even higher levels of NUEs compared to all applied as basal fertilizer at low N rates. Therefore, it could be recommended that applying 150 kg N ha -1 with a basal-jointing-heading fertilizer ratio of 2:4:4 represented an efficient N management practice to synchronously obtain high grain yield and NUEs in ratoon sorghum system in Southwest China., (© 2024. Schistosomiasis is a significant public health threat, and Oncomelania hupensis is the only intermediate host for schistosoma japonicum. We conducted 12-year monthly repeated surveys to explore the interactive and lag effects of environmental factors on snail density and to monitor their long-term and seasonal trends in a bottomland around the Dongting Lake region in China. Relevant environmental data were obtained from multiple sources. A Bayesian kernel machine regression model and a Bayesian temporal model combined with a distributed lag model were constructed to analyze interactive and lag effects of environmental factors on snail density. The results indicated the average annual snail density in the study site exhibited an increasing and then decreasing trend, peaking in 2013. Snail densities were the highest in October and the lowest in January in a year. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and water level were the most effective predictors of snail density, with potential interactions among temperature, precipitation, and NDVI. The mean minimum temperature in January, water level, precipitation and NDVI were positively correlated with snail density at lags ranging from 1 to 4 months. These findings could serve as references for relevant authorities to monitor the changing trend of snail density and implement control measures, thereby reducing the occurrence of schistosomiasis., (© 2024. Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common, chronic, recurrent inflammatory skin disease. To date, no meta-analysis have been conducted on the prevalence and risk factors of AD in children aged 1-7 years in Mainland China., Methods: We conducted a meta-analysis of the prevalence and risk factors of AD among children aged 1-7 years in China. Chinese and English publications were searched in Chinese and English databases on AD epidemiology published between 1999 and 2023. Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted the data, and evaluated their quality. A meta-analysis was performed using a random-effects model (I 2 > 50%) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the forest plots. Data were processed using the RevMan 5.3., Results: Nineteen studies (data from 127,660 samples) met the inclusion criteria. The pooled prevalence of AD in Chinese children aged 1-7 years was 8%. Over the last decade, the prevalence of AD has increased. The prevalence of AD among children in southern China was higher than that in northern China and was the highest at the provincial level in Zhejiang, Shanxi, and Anhui. The prevalence of AD was dependent on the family history of allergy, passive smoking, households with pets, plush toys, and residential area., Discussion: The prevalence of AD in children (age 1-7 years) in China has increased. Further studies are needed to monitor the prevalence of AD in Chinese children. BACKGROUND There are many factors that affect human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)-related deaths, and different antiretroviral therapy (ART) strategies may affect HIV/AIDS-related fatality rates. However, studies on this area are very limited. This study aimed to evaluate the factors associated with HIV/AIDS-related mortality and the impact of different ART strategies in Lu'an City, Anhui Province, China, 1999-2023. MATERIAL AND METHODS Data of HIV/AIDS cases were downloaded from the China HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Response Information Management System, and were assessed to evaluate the impact of different ART strategies on the related fatality rate using interrupted time series (ITS). RESULTS We found that age at diagnosis of 15 years, 25 years, 40 years, and 60 years, as well as receiving ART, were protective factors against death (with P below 0.05), while lower CD4 count at the last CD4 count and the year of diagnosis before 2007 and between 2007 and 2016 were risk factors (with P below 0.05). ITS analysis revealed that in the year of the introduction of free ART in 2006, the fatality rate decreased by 38.60% (P=0.015). The fatality rate trend from 2006 to 2015 was -1.1%, which was not statistically significant (P=0.434). The fatality rate trend from 2016 to 2023 was -0.33%, indicating a decreasing trend (P=0.000). CONCLUSIONS Children under 15 years old and elderly patients had a higher risk of death. The main reasons for the decrease in HIV/AIDS-related fatality rate were ART, especially the "early treatment" strategy.

Objective: To explore the relationships between gestational hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, antiviral therapy, and pregnancy outcomes., Methods: We retrospectively selected hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive pregnant women hospitalized for delivery at Fujian Medical University Affiliated Hospital from October 1, 2016 to October 1, 2020. The control group included randomly selected healthy pregnant women hospitalized for delivery during the same time., Results: Overall, 1115 participants were enrolled and grouped into control (n = 380) and HBsAg-positive groups (n = 735), which were further divided into groups I (n = 407; low viral load), II (n = 207; high viral load without antiviral therapy), and III (n = 121; high viral load with antiviral therapy). Pregnant women with HBV were positively correlated with the incidence of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 5.1, 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.62-9.92, P < 0.001), neonatal jaundice (aOR 10.56, 95% CI 4.49-24.83, P < 0.001), and neonatal asphyxia (aOR 5.03, 95% CI 1.46-17.27, P = 0.01). Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) greater than the upper limit of normal (ULN) was an independent risk factor for increased ICP incidence (aOR 3.49, 95% CI 1.26-9.67, P = 0.019). Antiviral therapy considerably reduced HBV DNA and improved liver function. High viral load and antiviral therapy did not correlate significantly with adverse pregnancy outcomes (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Pregnant women with HBV have significantly elevated incidence of ICP, neonatal jaundice, and neonatal asphyxia not significantly correlated with viral load. AST greater than ULN independently increases the risk of ICP. Purpose: In China, the application of nitinol Tubridge flow diverter (TFD) has become popular for treating intracranial aneurysms (IAs). In this study, we investigated the safety outcomes of the application of TFD for treating IAs in real-world scenarios., Methods: We retrospectively analyzed aneurysms treated with TFD in 235 centers throughout China between April 2018 and April 2020. The primary endpoint was the event-free survival rate at 12 months, defined as the occurrence of morbidity (spontaneous rupture, intraparenchymal hemorrhage (IPH), ischemic stroke, and permanent cranial neuropathy) or death. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to assess the risk factors. A good outcome was defined as a modified Rankin Score (mRS) of 0-2., Results: We included 1281 unruptured aneurysms treated with TFD. The overall neurological morbidity and death rates after 12 months were 5.4 and 2.8%, respectively. Ischemic strokes were the most common complication (4.2%, P < 0.001). Cranial neuropathy, IPH, and spontaneous rupture occurred in 0.3%, 0.3%, and 0.5% of aneurysms, respectively. Univariate and multivariate analyses indicated that the male gender, older age, larger aneurysm diameter, and aneurysm located on BA were the independent risk factors for neurologic events. Aneurysm located on BA was the independent risk factor for ischemic strokes. Most patients (1222) had access to the mRS, and 93.2% of them achieved good outcomes., Conclusion: Treatment of IAs with TFD was associated with low morbidity and mortality, most of which were ischemic events. Background: Positive lifestyle adjustments have become effective methods in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Utilizing short video platforms to encourage GERD patients for effective self-disease management is a convenient and cost-effective approach. However, the quality of GERD-related videos on short video platforms is yet to be determined, and these videos may contain misinformation that patients cannot recognize. This study aims to assess the information quality of GERD-related short videos on TikTok and Bilibili in China., Methods: Search and filter the top 100 GERD-related videos on TikTok and Bilibili based on comprehensive rankings. Two independent gastroenterologists conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the video quality using the Global Quality Score and the modified DISCERN tool. Simultaneously, the content of the videos was analyzed across six aspects: definition, symptoms, risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes., Results: A total of 164 GERD-related videos were collected in this study, and videos from non-gastrointestinal health professionals constitute the majority (56.71%), with only 28.66% originating from gastroenterology health professionals. The overall quality and reliability of the videos were relatively low, with DISCERN and GQS scores of 2 (IQR: 2-3) and 3 (IQR: 2-3), respectively. Relatively speaking, videos from gastrointestinal health professionals exhibit the highest reliability and quality, with DISCERN scores of 3 (IQR: 3-4) and GQS scores of 3 (IQR: 3-4), respectively., Conclusion: Overall, the information content and quality of GERD-related videos still need improvement. Background: To comprehensively elucidate the genomic and mutational features of lung cancer cases, and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), it is imperative to conduct ongoing investigations into the genomic landscape. In this study, we aim to analyze the somatic mutation profile and assessed the significance of these informative genes utilizing a retrospective LUAD cohort., Methods: A total of 247 Chinese samples were analyzed to exhibit the tumor somatic genomic alterations in patients with LUAD. The Cox regression analysis was employed to identify prognosis-related genes and establish a predictive model for stratifying patients with LUAD., Results: In the Dianjiang People's Hospital (DPH) cohort, the top five frequent mutated genes were (Epidermal growth factor receptor) EGFR (68%), TP53 (30%), RBM10 (13%), LRP1B (9%), and KRAS (9%). Of which, EGFR is a mostly altered driver gene, and most mutation sites are located in tyrosine kinase regions. Oncogene pathway alteration and mutation signature analysis demonstrated the RTK-RAS pathway alteration, and smoking was the main carcinogenic factor of the DPH cohort. Furthermore, we identified 34 driver genes in the DPH cohort, including EGFR (68%), TP53 (30.4%), RBM10 (12.6%), KRAS (8.5%), LRP1B (8.5%), and so on, and 45 Clinical Characteristic-Related Genes (CCRGs) were found to closely related to the clinical high-risk factors. We developed a Multiple Parameter Gene Mutation (MPGM) risk model by integrating critical genes and oncogenic pathway alterations in LUAD patients from the DPH cohort. Based on publicly available LUAD datasets, we identified five genes, including BRCA2, Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), BRAF, EGFR, and Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Alpha (PDGFRA), according to the multivariable Cox regression analysis. The MPGM-low group showed significantly better overall survival (OS) compared to the MPGM-high group (p < 0.0001, area under the curve (AUC) = 0.754). The robust performance was validated in 55 LUAD patients from the DPH cohort and another LUAD dataset. Immune characteristics analysis revealed a higher proportion of primarily DCs and mononuclear cells in the MPGM-low risk group, while the MPGM-high risk group showed lower immune cells and higher tumor cell infiltration., Conclusion: This study provides a comprehensive genomic landscape of Chinese LUAD patients and develops an MPGM risk model for LUAD prognosis stratification. This study aimed to explore and develop data mining models for adult age estimation based on CT reconstruction images from the sternum. Maximum intensity projection (MIP) images of chest CT were retrospectively collected from a modern Chinese population, and data from 2700 patients (1349 males and 1351 females) aged 20 to 70 years were obtained. A staging technique within four indicators was applied. Several data mining models were established, and mean absolute error (MAE) was the primary comparison parameter. The intraobserver and interobserver agreement levels were good. Within internal validation, the optimal data mining model obtained the lowest MAE of 9.08 in males and 10.41 in females. For the external validation (N = 200), MAEs were 7.09 in males and 7.15 in females. In conclusion, the accuracy of our model for adult age estimation was among similar studies. MIP images of the sternum could be a potential age indicator. However, it should be combined with other indicators since the accuracy level is still unsatisfactory., (© 2024. Objective: The impact of thrombus migration (TM) prior to endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) on clinical outcomes and revascularisation rates remains unknown. We aimed to examine whether preinterventional TM modifies the treatment effects of direct EVT versus bridging EVT in acute large vessel occlusion patients., Methods: All patients undergoing catheter angiography in the Direct Intra-arterial thrombectomy in order to Revascularise acute ischaemic stroke patients with large vessel occlusion Efficiently in Chinese Tertiary hospitals: A Multicentre randomised clinical Trial were included. TM was determined by radiologists unaware of the study by analysing discrepancies between computed tomographic angiography at baseline and first-run digital subtraction angiography before EVT. The primary outcome was the score on the modified Rankin scale (mRS) assessed at 90 days., Results: Of 627 included patients, the TM rate was 11.3% (71/627). In the multivariable logistic regression model, baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score (adjusted OR 0.956, 95% CI 0.916 to 0.999; p=0.043) and intravenous thrombolysis (adjusted OR 2.614, 95% CI 1.514 to 4.514; p<0.001) were independently associated with TM. The patients with TM were less likely to be completely recanalised than those without TM (21.27% vs 36.23%, p=0.040). The interaction of TM and the EVT treatment effect did not significantly affect mRS shift analysis (p=0.687) or mRS scores of 0 to 1 (p=0.436)., Conclusion: Preinterventional TM does not modify the treatment effects of direct versus bridging EVT on functional outcomes in patients with acute ischaemic stroke with anterior large vessel occlusion. Construction and demolition waste (CDW) landfills around the city have caused serious damage to the ecological environment and menaced the public health. Restoration of closed CDW landfills is critical to compensate for the degraded ecosystem and ensure safety in further development and utilization. Vegetation restoration is an essential part of the restoration of CDW landfills, in which the use of spontaneous plants is the foundation of the nature-based strategy. In this study, Fenghuangshan CDW landfill in Suzhou, China, was selected as the research site, and the species composition and diversity of the spontaneous plants were analyzed. Moreover, the types of habitats and growth indexes of 8 species with high frequency and 18 species with medium frequency in the CDW landfill were investigated, and a comprehensive evaluation of growth rate and expansion capacity of the 26 species was conducted. The results showed that, herbs were the main type of the spontaneous plants in the CDW landfill. The species and quantities of the spontaneous plants in the CDW landfill were obviously fewer than those in the surrounding areas of the CDW landfill, and the Shannon-Wiener index and Pielou index of the spontaneous plants were lower compared with the surrounding areas of the CDW landfill. Meanwhile, the differences of dominant families and the distribution of origins, life forms and growth types between these two fields were insignificant. The heliophilous and drought tolerance species were widely distributed in the CDW landfill while the shade-tolerant or hygrophilous species were few. The relatively large comprehensive evaluation indexes of Elymus dahuricus, Daucus carota, Sonchus asper, Geranium carolinianum, Rumex acetosa, Metaplexis japonica, Carex breviculmis, Erigeron canadensis, Trigonotis peduncularis, Lamium amplexicaule reflected their high growth rates and strong expansion capacity, demonstrating their great potentiality in the vegetation restoration of CDW landfills as indispensable components of the nature-based solution., (© 2024. Two Gram-positive, rod-shaped, endospore-forming strains, YIM B05601 and YIM B05602 T , were isolated from soil sampled at Hamazui hot spring, Tengchong City, Yunnan Province, PR China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences suggested that the two strains fell within the genus Paenibacillus , appearing most closely related to Paenibacillus alkalitolerans YIM B00362 T (96.9 % sequence similarity). Genome-based phylogenetic analysis confirmed that strains YIM B05601 and YIM B05602 T formed a distinct phylogenetic cluster within the genus Paenibacillus . The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values of strains YIM B05601 and YIM B05602 T with the related species P. alkalitolerans YIM B00362 T were within the ranges of 74.43-74.57 % and 12.1-18.5 %, respectively, which clearly indicated that strains YIM B05601, YIM B05602 T represented a novel species. Strains YIM B05601 and YIM B05602 T exhibited 99.6 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. The ANI and dDDH values between the two strains were 99.8 and 100 %, respectively, suggesting that they belong to the same species. Optimum growth for both strains occurred at pH 7.0 and 45 °C. The diagnostic diamino acid in the cell-wall peptidoglycan of strains YIM B05601 and YIM B05602 T was meso -diaminopimelic acid. MK-7 was the predominant menaquinone. The polar lipids of strain YIM B05602 T were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine, four unidentified glycolipids, an unidentified polarlipid and phosphatidylinositol mannoside. The major fatty acids of the two stains were iso-C 15 : 0 and anteiso-C 15 : 0 . Based on phylogenomic and phylogenetic analyses coupled with phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characterizations, strains YIM B05601 and YIM B05602 T could be classified as a novel species of the genus Paenibacillus , for which the name Paenibacillus thermotolerans sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is YIM B05602 T (=CGMCC 1.60051 T =KCTC 43460 T =NBRC 115924 T ).

Multiple infections are a key component of HPV pathogenesis and have a direct impact on how an infection turns out. It's crucial to look at the associations between HPV multiple infections and both age and HPV genotypes in the Chinese population, searching for the causative factors of multiple infections with a view to providing new ideas for the treatment and prevention of multiple infections. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the data of HPV infections among outpatients from the 2019 year to the 2021 year of Shandong Maternal and Child Health Hospital. Analyzed the correlation between HPV multiple infections and age using logistic regression. Differences in the percentage of multiple infections between age groups were compared using the chi-square test. The chi-square test compared the differences in the distribution of 15 common HPV genotypes in mono- versus multiple infections. A two-dimensional matrix presented the frequency of HPV genotype combinations. Logistics regression analysis showed that age was significantly associated with the occurrence of multiple infections, with a dominance ratio OR 1.026 (95% CI 1.02-1.04). Interestingly, the proportion of HPV multiple infections among HPV-positive individuals increases with age in people older than 30 years of age. The chi-square test showed there was a difference in the distribution of HPV genotypes between multiple infections and mono- HPV infection (χ 2  = 76.4; p = 0.000), a difference in the composition of HPV genotypes for dual versus single infections (χ 2  = 90.6; p = 0.000) and a difference in HPV genotypes for triple versus single infections (χ 2  = 56.7; p = 0.000). A 2 × 2 matrix showed that the combination of HPV52/HPV58 (30; 6.4%) was the combination of the highest frequency of infection for dual infections; The HPV52/HPV58 (21; 4.8%) combination was the highest frequency of HPV triple infection combination. HPV multiple infections were positively correlated with age; increasing age was positively correlated with the proportion of HPV multiple infections in the total infected population; the distribution of the 15 common genotypes of HPV differed between multiple infections and single infections; and HPV52:58 was a common type of infection combination in the Shandong population., (© 2024. Background: Inequalities in job opportunities and income prompts many Chinese parents to leave rural regions to work in urban regions. Their children are left behind in rural regions, subjected to worse quality of childcare that jeopardizes their development. This study aimed to examine the association between quality of childcare and delayed child development in under-three years children left behind in China., Methods: Cross-sectional national survey was conducted in children left behind in rural China in 2017. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used to develop a quality of childcare index. Mutlilevel analyses determined factors associated with quality of childcare and child development on a province and individual level., Result: The largest population of at-risk children left behind were found in higher-GDP provinces. Children left behind had the lowest mean quality of childcare score. Multilevel analysis found that province level accounted for a great proportion of variance observed., Conclusions: While migration to urban regions for work may improve household income, a trade-off in worse quality of childcare and developmental delays exists. With improving household income often being the greatest contributing factor for parental migration, policies to reduce inequalities in job opportunities and wealth between rural and urban regions are required., Impact: Previous studies identified higher prevalence of developmental delays in children left behind in China. However, quality of childcare has not been examined. Based on WHO's Nurturing Care Framework, we developed a quality of childcare index to assess its association with child development in children left behind. Greatest proportion of children left behind at-risk of developmental delays resided in higher-GDP states, indicating a trade-off in worse quality of childcare and developmental delays. Cancer patients have a high incidence of intraoperative acquired pressure injury (IAPI). Constructing IAPI quality indicators can reduce the incidence of pressure injury, but there are a lack of these indicators targeting cancer patients. Based on this, this study develops a system of quality indicators for IAPI. Thirty-four potential indicators were included based on the literature review. The 26 experts were asked to rate the importance and feasibility of each indicator using three rounds of email survey. The authoritative coefficient ranged from 0.92 to 0.94. After three rounds of Delphi expert consultation, nine nursing quality indicators were identified for IAPI in cancer patients. The mean importance or feasibility ratings ranged from 4.77 to 5.81 on a six-point scale, with variation coefficients ranging from 0.07 to 0.26. The percentage of full score for potential indicators ranged from 23.10% to 80.80%. Over three rounds, the Kendall's W coefficients ranged from 0.157 to 0.354 (P < .01). The absolute and relative importance and feasibility of the nine indicators were identified as potentially valid measures of nursing quality indicators for IAPI in cancer patients. Different recanalization times for endovascular interventions may affect the success of non-acute internal carotid artery occlusion procedures. Nomograms can provide personalized and more accurate risk estimates based on predictive values. Therefore, we developed a nomogram to predict the probability of success of endovascular recanalization procedures for non-acute internal carotid artery occlusion. We performed a single-center retrospective analysis of data collected from patients who underwent endovascular treatment for non-acute internal carotid artery occlusion between January 2015 and December 2022. Multifactorial logistic regression analyses were performed to identify independent predictors affecting the success rate of non-acute internal carotid artery occlusion procedures and to create nomograms. The model was differentiated and calibrated using the area under the ROC curve (AUC-ROC) and calibration plots. Internal validation of the model was performed by using resampling (1000 replications). In total, 46 patients were identified and a total of 39 patients met the study criteria. Predictors in the nomogram included vascular occlusion proximal morphology, reversed flow of the ophthalmic artery, and recanalization time. The model showed good resolution with an ROC area of 0.917 (95% CI: 0.814-0.967). The nomogram can be used to personalize, visualize, and accurately predict the surgical success of endovascular treatment of non-acute internal carotid artery occlusion., (© 2024. Background: Vaccination remains the cornerstone of defense against COVID-19 globally. This study aims to assess the safety and immunogenicity profile of innovative vaccines LYB001., Research Design and Methods: This was a randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled trial, in 100 healthy Chinese adults (21 to 72 years old). Three doses of 30 or 60 µg of SARS-CoV-2 RBD-based VLP vaccine (LYB001), or the SARS-CoV-2 RBD-based protein subunit vaccine (ZF2001, control group) were administered with a 28-day interval. Differences in the incidence of adverse events (AEs) and indicators of humoral and cellular immunity among the different groups were measured., Results: No severe adverse events were confirmed to be vaccine-related, and there was no significant difference in the rate of adverse events between the LYB001 and control group or the age subgroups ( p  > 0.05). The LYB001 groups had significantly higher or comparable levels of seroconversion rates, neutralization antibody, S protein-binding antibody, and cellular immunity after whole vaccination than the control group., Conclusions: Our findings support that LYB001 developed on the VLP platform is safe and well tolerated with favorable immunogenicity for fundamental vaccination in healthy adults. Therefore, further larger-scale clinical studies are warranted., Trial Registration: This trial was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05552573).
