This study aims to assess the implementation of smart campus and the students' learning engagement at Zhongshan College, China. A well-structured questionnaire was developed, and information was collected from 277 students and 377 teachers. The results indicate that both groups of respondents highly agree on the construction levels of the smart campus in terms of security operations, academic technology assistance, public relation services, and stakeholders' experience. Furthermore, respondents emphasized that the level of smart campus construction affects students' learning engagement. Specifically, students' personalized learning engagement is affected by the level of smart campus construction in security operations and public relations services. And the degree of students' use of smart learning resources is significantly related to the smart campus construction levels in all four dimensions. This study fills research gaps and provides valuable guidance for the development of smart campuses.

Engaging the public and community organizations in local health actions greatly assists disease prevention and control. However, it remains unclear how organization-public relationships (OPR) and communication networks within communities contribute to community health actions. To fill this gap, a survey was conducted among community members in Shanghai, China, who were challenged by the Omicron wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Results revealed that integrated connectedness to a storytelling network (ICSN) was a significant predictor of residents' community engagement. Trust, control mutuality, commitment, and ICSN were positively associated with community engagement intentions through the sense of community and organizational efficacy. This work explores China's African public relations and image‐building effort, focusing on Nigeria. Thus, the paper's purpose is twofold: first, to investigate whether China's conduct of public diplomacy through its soft power resource—development assistance—has effectively shaped positive Nigerian public perception of China, and second, to determine the media's role in advancing China's public diplomacy in Nigeria. Specifically, it explores the interaction of economic development assistance, media, and public relations. I do this by comparing China's foreign direct investment (FDI) in Nigeria (2010–2019) with the public's perception of the FDI's influence on the Nigerian economy (2016 and 2020) and the media's role in shaping public support toward the investments. Utilizing a range of datasets, I find that Chinese economic investment alone is insufficient to substantially shape positive Nigerian public perception of China. Within a framework of mediated public diplomacy, I demonstrate that the Chinese image‐building effort in Nigeria would likely enhance when the country links economic investments with public relations to make the investments more visible through effective media representation. How does homeland origin impact the welfare of emigrants (and their US-born descendants) in the US diaspora? Hostilities between governments in places of origin and settlement may trigger xenophobic reactions of the native-born and discriminatory treatments against immigrant-origin Americans tied to antagonistic foreign homelands due to the latter being presumed "guilty by ethnic association." Rising US-China tensions and negative perceptions of China may endanger the lives and livelihoods of Chinese and other Asian Americans. However, the relationship between public perceptions of China and the fate of Americans perceived as being Chinese has been largely anecdotal. Viewed through the prism of US public opinion toward China and US-China relations, this research provides a systematic review of the rise and contours of the perceived "China threat" in American public opinion and how it may impact the welfare of Chinese Americans in specific and Asian Americans in general iii the present day. This research benefits from the availability of several large-scale national public opinion surveys conducted between 2020 and 2023, especially the STAATUS 2023 and SOCA of 2022. We find little relationship between perceived threats from China and people of Chinese descent residing in the US. Our findings refute the idea that there is a necessary relationship between perceived threats by China and assessments of Asian American loyalty and high-tech employment. However, we also show evidence that this does not mean Chinese and other Asian Americans themselves do not feel discriminated against on a daily basis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Can village leaders' performance impact villagers' trust in the central government? Using village leader-villager relations at the village level as the explanatory variable, we examine a previously ignored source of public trust toward the Chinese government: face-to-face interactions with local leaders. We argue that, as the party-state's first point of contact with villagers, villagers use their interactions with village leaders as a proxy to determine the trustworthiness of China's central government. By analyzing the latest Guangdong Thousand Village Survey from 2020, we find that when villagers report better relations with village leaders, they also express greater trust in the Chinese central government. We find additional evidence for this relationship through open-ended interviews of villagers and village leaders. These findings advance our understanding of hierarchical political trust in China. This study, inspired by the Risk Information Seeking and Processing (RISP) model, examines the mechanisms by which perceived hazard characteristics and the informational subjective norms of Chinese youth, aged from 14 to 44 years old, become associated with their intentions to seek cancer risk information online. A sample of 684 Chinese youths was collected from four cities in Mainland China with results revealing that perceived hazard characteristics and informational subjective norms motivate their online cancer risk information seeking intentions. Specifically, perceived probability, perceived severity, and institutional trust are positively related to negative affect, however the relationship between personal control and negative affect is not significant. Institutional trust and personal control are positively related to positive affect while perceived probability and perceived severity have no significant effect on positive affect. Negative affect and informational subjective norms are positively related to perceived information insufficiency, while the relationship between positive affect and perceived information insufficiency is not significant. Negative affect, positive affect, informational subjective norms, and perceived information insufficiency are all positively related to the online cancer risk information seeking intentions of Chinese youth.
