Forecasting of load is essential for operating power systems. India recently witnessed one of the worst power crisis with the highest ever power demand of 207 GW on April 29, 2022. The demand in the month of May and June 2022 was estimated to reach 215 GW. The peak demand this year 2023, according to the electricity ministry, is predicted to be around 230 GW from April to June. The inability to meet certain fundamental issues as power can take a toll on any country's economy. Proper prediction helps in proper decision making and planning. The main objective of this paper is to predict day ahead electrical load demand for Assam. Statistical and Machine Learning Algorithms has been studied. The study has been carried out using real-time data for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018. The paper presents a detailed analysis of the different hyper parameters of the deep learning models and their effect is seen on the learning efficiency. A novel stacked forecasting model is proposed using neural networks as base learners and CatBoost as the meta-learner. The performance of the proposed model has been evaluated and compared with individual models in terms of training time and accuracy using different error metrics namely MAE, MSE, RMSE, MAPE and R2 score. A comparison of the proposed prediction model with the prediction models available in literature has been presented. The conclusion states that both the statistical and machine learning algorithms used in this study act as useful tools for daily load forecasting with considerable accuracy; yet machine learning algorithm outperforms the statistical methods. Natural disasters such as earthquakes endanger human lives and infrastructure, particularly in urban areas. With the advancements in science and technology in understanding natural hazards, recent studies have attempted to mitigate them by mapping the risks using geospatial technology. In this paper, we attempt to integrate the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) models, namely the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Criteria Importance Through Inter-criteria Correlation (CRITIC), besides using the artificial neural network (ANN) to assess the seismic risk in the eastern coast of India. The AHP-CRITIC technique is used to evaluate the earthquake coping capacity and vulnerability and has been further used to generate a training base for earthquake probability mapping by ANN. The earthquake probability and spatial intensity information are used to develop the hazard map. Following that, integrating vulnerability, hazard and coping capacity spatial information assessed earthquake risk. Our results indicate that approximately 5% of the study area is at high risk, whilst more than 11% of the population is at high risk due to seismic induced hazards. The area under the curve of the receiver operating characteristic curve is 0.85, which indicates reliable results. The results of this study may help various agencies involved in planning, development and disaster mitigation to develop seismic hazard mitigation methods by better understanding their impacts on the eastern coastal region of India., (© 2024. Artificial Intelligence is quickly emerging as a technological solution for the agriculture industry to surmount its classical challenges. Artificial Intelligence is facilitating farmers to refine their products and alleviate unfavourable impacts due to the environment. The central concern of this paper is predictive analytics to develop a machine learning model to identify and predict crop yield based on multiple environmental factors. In this paper, a hybrid learner 'RaNN' is proposed that combines the feature sampling and majority voting technique of Random Forest in-combination with the multilayer Feedforward Neural Network to predict the crop yield. Research has also ascertained the essential features responsible for accurate yield prediction. The proposed model works for rice yield prediction, one of the chief grains of India. The region chosen for the work is Punjab, which is among the largest producer states of India for rice. The dataset consists of 15 attributes comprising the weather and agriculture data collected from the Indian Meteorological Department Pune, and Punjab Environment Information System (ENVIS) Center, Government of India. The study has also made a comparative assessment of 'RaNN' with machine learning methods like Multiple Linear Regression, Random Forest, Decision Tree, Boosting Regression, Support Vector Machine Regression, Ensemble Learner, and Artificial Neural Network. Our model RaNN has listed a better prediction accuracy with minimal error among the other techniques providing a 98% correlation between the actual and the predicted yield. Pregnancy and fetus development is an incredibly intricate biological process that can go wrong when the health of fetus or the mother gets worse. Currently, India has the highest number of stillbirths, with an estimated 5,92,100 deaths per year, and a WHO estimated rate of 22 per 1000 total births. Cardiotocography is one procedure used to check whether the fetus is growing as expected. This diagnostic procedure measures the mother's uterine contractions and the fetus' heartbeat, usually in the third trimester of pregnancy when the fetus heart is fully developed. This paper aims to classify the results into one of three states (physiological, suspicious or abnormal) based on cardiotocographic data using machine learning algorithms and compare the accuracies of different ML classification models such as logistic regression, k-nearest neighbor, decision tree, random forest classifier and support vector machine. The state of India was situated on fertile land and river deltas with appropriate agricultural land. In 2019, agricultural fields, primarily cropland, occupy more than 40% of the country's total surface area. Moreover, agricultural industry revenues less than 3% of the country's Gross Provincial Product (GPP). While manufacturing has become the country's major financial activity, accounting countries represent half of GPP's revenues. The objective of the study is to find a way to improve the financial profitability and efficiency of farming supply chain networks as follows: (1) Fixation of national-level targets for zonal-level groups information after assessment and forecasts that affect production and distribution of agriculture. This paper explores the different insider employee-led cyber frauds (IECF) based on the recent large-scale fraud events of prominent Indian banking institutions. Examining the different types of fraud and appropriate control measures will protect the banking industry from fraudsters. In this study, we identify and classify Cyber Fraud (CF), map the severity of the fraud on a scale of priority, test the mitigation effectiveness, and propose optimal mitigation measures. The identification and classification of CF losses were based on a literature review and focus group discussions with risk and vigilance officers and cyber cell experts. The CF was analyzed using secondary data. We predicted and prioritized CF based on machine learning-derived Random Forest (RF). An efficient fraud mitigation model was developed based on an offender-victim-centric approach. Mitigation is advised both before and after fraud occurs. Through the findings of this research, banks and fraud investigators can prevent CF by detecting it quickly and controlling it on time. This study proposes a structured, sustainable CF mitigation plan that protects banks, employees, regulators, customers, and the economy, thus saving time, resources, and money. Early-stage prediction of a disease is an important and challenging task. The application of machine learning techniques is playing an important role in this era. Thyroid is one of the chronic endocrine diseases, and approximately 42 million people in India are affected by this disease. This paper presents a comprehensive investigation into the enhancement of classification performance through the novel 'FeatureBoostThyro' (FBT) model. The study evaluates various machine learning algorithms, including stochastic gradient descent (SGD), K nearest neighbor (KNN), logistic regression (LR), naive bayes (NB), and support vector machine (SVM), in conjunction with diverse feature selection methods. The research systematically explores the impact of feature selection techniques such as information gain, relief F, chi-square, gini index, forward selection, backward selection, recursive feature elimination, and LASSO on model performance across the chosen algorithms. The analysis reveals notable variations in performance metrics, including accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, providing valuable insights into the interplay between algorithm and feature selection. One main contribution of this research is the introduction of the FBT model, which consistently outperforms other models across various feature selection methods, making it a promising tool for addressing complex classification tasks. The findings contribute to a broader understanding of model selection and optimization in machine learning applications. Text classification involves organizing textual information into predefined classes, a task which is particularly useful in domains like sentiment analysis, spam detection, and content labeling. In India, where a massive amount of information is generated daily through newspapers and social media, Hindi is one of the most widely used and spoken languages. However, there is limited research on Hindi text classification and, particularly, regarding Hindi news classification. This paper presents a research study to classify Hindi news articles published in Hindi-language newspapers in India by using and comparing various Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) algorithms. To prepare the textual news data for classification, pre-processing and feature engineering techniques, such as count vectorizer, Tf-Idf vectorizer and Doc2Vec, were used and applied to convert texts into vectors. This pre-processing step on the textual data was very challenging due to the presence of multimodal words, conjunctions, punctuation, and special characters in Hindi texts. The study considered Hindi news headlines from predetermined categories (Science, Sports, Entertainment and Business) and, among the different ML and DL models tested and evaluated, Linear Regression with Doc2Vec vectorizer and SGD classifier with Tf-Idf vectorizer produced best accuracies of 97.04% and 96.59%, respectively. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for breast cancer classification using optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. As the incidence of breast cancer in India continues to rise, early detection is essential for increasing survival rates. For precise classification, an efficient classifier model is required. Due to the variety of datasets and performance metrics, a single classifier may not be sufficient. Thus, we propose an efficient ensemble classifier based on Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) integrated with the Crow Search Algorithm (CSA). TOPSIS, a technique for Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), ranks and selects the ensemble's base classifiers. The CSA fine-tunes the weights of the base classifiers. In addition, we employ SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) values to visualize feature attributions at the observation level, thereby facilitating model interpretation and comprehension. The proposed classifier performs admirably on the experimental testing dataset, with values of 0.921, 0.921, 0.923, 0.921, 0.846 and 0.846 for precision, recall, F1-score, Kappa, and MCC, respectively. Motivated by the growing significance of solar energy, the paper presents the findings of the maiden study on the long-term seasonal performance assessment of three PV module technologies—monocrystalline (m-Si), polycrystalline (p-Si), and amorphous silicon (a-Si) housed in a 1 MW solar plant installed at a local steppe climate in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India using the key performance indicators (KPIs), daily power generation, final yield (Y f), reference yield (Y r), total energy loss (T EL) and performance ratio (PR). Notably, the am-Si PV modules were found to be the best performing technology, with an average PR of 71.26% and the lowest average total energy loss of 631 h during the monitored period. Moreover, PV systems have become more popular as a source of green, clean energy; yet, they have low base-load energy sustainability. Explainable AI (XAI) aids in understanding predictions made by the machine learning models. The importance of XAI lies in the comprehension and trust which is embedded into the results of machine learning algorithms. Therefore, the present work builds a comprehensive XAI model for predicting KPIs and assesses the performance of several learning algorithms using R-value, MAE, the number of iterations, and execution time. The Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm predicts the KPIs for p-Si, am-Si, and m-Si with prediction accuracies of 98.63%, 98.58%, and 90.09%, respectively. Mining is one of the most daunting occupations gain the sector since it entails risk at any point in the operation. In its operation, the main focus is on slope stability. To avoid slope failures, work should be performed in line with both the regulations and the safety criteria. Slope stability is essential in mining activities owing to slope failure putting productivity and safety at risk. Prediction of slope failure is difficult because of the complexity of traditional engineering techniques. Through study, recent technologies have helped mining companies predict slope problems quickly and effectively. In this current research, an ensemble of machine learning intelligence algorithms was used to estimate and assess the Factor of Safety (FOS). In Ostapal Chromicte Mine, India, 79 experimental and failure slope occurrences were tracked to gather in-the-moment field data. The available data were split into training and testing sets at random to build algorithms. The five influenced factors such as the unit weight, the friction angle, the cohesiveness, the mining depth, as well as the slope angle used as input variables to estimate the FOS. Selected machine learning techniques such as Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), Decision Tree, Random Forest (RF), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and ensemble hybrid model combining eXtreme Gradient Boosting and Random Forest (XGBoost-RF) were developed to evaluate the FOS. The validity and efficiency of created models can be evaluated using standard evaluation parameters such as coefficient of determination (R2), root mean square error (RMSE), mean square error (MSE), normalized root mean square error (NRMSE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and mean absolute deviation (MAD). The most precise model to assess the FOS across all models was discovered to be the XGBOOST-RF ensemble model, which had a high R² of 0.931, MSE of 0.009, NRMSE of 0.069, MAD of 0.037, MAPE of 3.581 and an RMSE of 0.098. Sugarcane is one of the leading commercial crops grown in India. The prevailing weather during the various crop-growth stages significantly impacts sugarcane productivity and the quality of its juice. The objective of this study was to predict the yield of sugarcane during different growth periods using machine learning techniques viz., random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), stepwise multiple linear regression (SMLR) and artificial neural networks (ANN). The performance of different yield forecasting models was assessed based on the coefficient of determination (R2), root mean square error (RMSE), normalized root mean square error (nRMSE) and model efficiency (EF). Among the models, ANN model was able to predict the yield at different growth stages with higher R2 and lower nRMSE during both calibration and validation. The performance of models across the forecasts was ranked based on the model efficiency as ANN > RF > SVM > SMLR. Assessing the dynamics and patterns of Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) and its transformation is an important practice of urban planners and environmentalists for a variety of applications, including land management, urban climate modeling, and sustainability of any urban region. Monitoring changes in LULC using geospatial techniques can help to identify areas at risk for indefensible land use, low-grade environment, and especially for sustainable urban planning. This study aims to analyze the changing pattern, dynamics, and alteration of LULC using Google Earth Engine (GEE) and Machine Learning Applications for the years 1991, 2001, 2011, and 2022 in the Varanasi City Development Region (VCDR). The LULC classification was divided into seven classes using random forest classification, and Landsat-5(TM) and 9(OLI-2) satellite data were used. Saga GIS has been utilized for the detection of LULC change during the 1991-2022 period. For validation of classification results, accuracy assessment was estimated using error matrices and through user, producer, and overall accuracy estimation. The Kappa statistics were applied for the reliability of the accuracy assessment result. As a result, the built-up area increased by 507.8 percent, and other classes like agricultural, barren, fallow land, and vegetation cover rapidly declined and altered into concrete areas over the period. Water bodies and river sand classes have been slightly converted into different classes. The finding explains that 114.8 km² of fertile agricultural land, 14.81 km² barren land, and 12.93 km2 of vegetation cover transformed into impervious surface, which is unsustainable and causes various problems like food scarcity, environmental degradation, and low quality of urban life. This study can be a useful guide for urban planners, academicians, and policymakers by providing a scientific background for sustainable urban planning and management of VCDR and other cities as well. Purpose: This study aims to analyse the systemic risk emitted by all publicly listed commercial banks in a key emerging economy, India. Design/methodology/approach: The study makes use of the Tobias and Brunnermeier (2016) estimator to quantify the systemic risk (ΔCoVaR) that banks contribute to the system. The methodology addresses a classification problem based on the probability that a particular bank will emit high systemic risk or moderate systemic risk. The study applies machine learning models such as logistic regression, random forest (RF), neural networks and gradient boosting machine (GBM) and addresses the issue of imbalanced data sets to investigate bank's balance sheet features and bank's stock features which may potentially determine the factors of systemic risk emission. Findings: The study reports that across various performance matrices, the authors find that two specifications are preferred: RF and GBM. The study identifies lag of the estimator of systemic risk, stock beta, stock volatility and return on equity as important features to explain emission of systemic risk. Practical implications: The findings will help banks and regulators with the key features that can be used to formulate the policy decisions. Denoising is an integral part of the data pre-processing pipeline that often works in conjunction with model development for enhancing the quality of data, improving model accuracy, preventing overfitting, and contributing to the overall robustness of predictive models. Algorithms based on a combination of wavelet with deep learning, machine learning, and stochastic model have been proposed. The denoised series are fitted with various benchmark models, including long short-term memory (LSTM), support vector regression (SVR), artificial neural network (ANN), and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) models. The effectiveness of a wavelet-based denoising approach was investigated on monthly wholesale price data for three major spices (turmeric, coriander, and cumin) for various markets in India. The predictive performance of these models is assessed using root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), and mean absolute error (MAE). The wavelet LSTM model with Haar filter at level 6 emerged as a robust choice for accurate price predictions across all spices. It was found that the wavelet LSTM model had a significant gain in accuracy than the LSTM model by more than 30% across all accuracy metrics. Imphal Valley, situated in Manipur, India, stands as an intermontane valley of great ecological significance, notably hosting Loktak Lake. This research delves into the Land Use Land Cover Change (LULCC) within the Imphal Valley from 2016 to 2021 and assesses their impact on air quality across distinct land cover types. We used Sentinel‐1 & 2 data, ALOS PALSAR Digital Elevation Model, and applied Random Forest (RF), a machine learning algorithm for effective land use and land cover (LULC) mapping. Additionally, Sentinel‐5P data was utilized to monitor air quality parameters (CO, HCHO, NO2, SO2, Aerosol Index) spanning 2019 to 2021. The overall accuracies for the LULC maps employing a k (k = 3) fold approach for accuracy assessment varied between 88% and 92%, with corresponding Kappa coefficient ranging from 0.85 to 0.90. Noteworthy trends emerged from our analysis, revealing an increase in settlements and horticulture farms and a decline in forested areas and phumdis (floating biomass). Our findings highlight a mean concentration of CO ranging between 0.045 mol/m2 and 0.055 mol/m2 in different land cover types during February and March (2019–2021). Furthermore, we observed maximum mean HCHO, NO2, SO2, and aerosol index concentrations in March. Pollution levels surged during forest fires and shifting agriculture seasons, while aerosol levels declined during the lockdown period. This integrated approach emphasized on the comprehensive analysis of the dynamic interplay between LULCC and air quality in the Imphal Valley. Riverbank erosion is one of the most catastrophic hazards that renders floodplains vulnerable across the world vulnerable. It creates a significant negative impact on the environment and socio-economic life. This paper attempts to assess the landscape ecological vulnerability (LEV) to riverbank erosion in the Middle Brahmaputra floodplains of Assam, India by employing two machine learning models, namely artificial neural network-multilayer perceptron (ANN-MLP) and random forest (RF). Bagging ensembles were created for both ANN-MLP and RF (B-MLP and B-RF) to generate LEV zones. A total of eleven site-specific parameters were considered for the study. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) based area under curve (AUC), accuracy, precision, recall and F1-score were used to validate the models and judge the models' performance. A sensitivity analysis was performed to deduce the most influential LEV parameters. The results revealed that B-MLP was the better-performing model compared to B-RF based on all five validation metrics. The largest area was found under very high vulnerability zone followed by very low, low, high and moderate vulnerability zones, based on both ensemble models. The western part of the floodplains was found to be more vulnerable than the eastern part. Moreover, the southern bank faced more vulnerability in comparison to the northern bank. The factors namely rainfall, soil type, vegetation and land /use land cover (LULC) influenced bank erosion vulnerability. This research provides evidence that the study area is under severe threat to riverbank erosion and urgently requires the implementation of effective mitigation measures. Climate change and other extinction facilitators have caused significant shifts in the distribution patterns of many species during the past few decades. Restoring and protecting lesser-known species may be more challenging without adequate biogeographical information. To address this knowledge gap, the current study set out to determine the global spatial distribution patterns of Indigofera oblongifolia (Forssk) a relatively lesser-known leguminous species. This was accomplished by utilizing three distinct bioclimatic temporal frames (current, 2050, and 2070) and four greenhouse gas scenarios (RCPs 2.6, 4.5, 6.0, and 8.5), in addition to non-climatic predictors such as global livestock population, human modification of terrestrial ecosystems, and global fertilizers application (nitrogen and phosphorus). Furthermore, we evaluate the degree of indigenousness using the geographical area, habitat suitability categories, and number of polygons. This research reveals that climatic predictors outperform non-climatic predictors in terms of improving model quality. Precipitation Seasonality is one of the most important factors influencing this species' optimum habitat suitability up to 150 mm for the current, 2050 RCP 8.5 and 2070-RCPs 2.6, 4.5, and 8.5. Our ellipsoid niche modelling extends the range of precipitation during the wettest quarter and maximum temperature during the warmest month to 637 mm and 26.5–31.80 degrees Celsius, respectively. India has a higher indigenous score in the optimal class than the African region. This findings suggest that the species in question tends to occupy contiguous regions in Africa, while in India, it is dispersed into several smaller meta-populations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Amplitude variation with offset (AVO) analysis is an important tool for identifying natural gas-bearing reservoirs. The changes in seismic amplitudes based on the variation of density and velocity of the rock matrix are captured through the AVO analysis. The current work was performed in the Ghotaru region of the Jaisalmer Sub-basin area, where limited and discrete hydrocarbon discoveries were observed from the Lower Goru Formation during the earlier various exploration campaigns. The discrete nature of the reservoir lithofacies developed challenging scenarios for the successful exploratory campaign. The campaign encountered more difficulties because of limited advanced datasets, which affected the study to capture the extension of hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir lithofacies and its characterization towards a successful exploration campaign. This study shows the way to overcome these challenges using an existing conventional dataset. The study shows the possibility of AVO analysis using a post-stack seismic dataset. A unique conversion method from post-stack to pre-stack seismic is introduced in this study based on the uses of the integrated velocity model. An integrated, robust velocity model was developed with consideration of anisotropy factors. Introducing a machine learning-based algorithm in the petrophysical study, including the conventional approach, provides a robust validation of this work. Intercept (A) and gradient (B) are the basic outcome of AVO analysis. The well-based study and AVO analysis based on intercept (A) and gradient (B) complement each other for finding hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir rock. Cross-plots and AVO analysis show the reservoir's lithofacies extension and fluids. The study reveals the potential of natural gas retained in the Lower Goru Formation, which is composed of patchy sandstone. Two AVO classes (Class I and Class III) of gas-bearing sandstone have been identified in this study. Groundwater recharge is essential for managing surface and subsoil water resources. Not only for supplying people with daily drinking water, groundwater use for agricultural land and people's livelihood is also continuously increasing. As a result, there has been a decline in groundwater supply in various parts of the world, and it is highly desirable to identify the potential groundwater zones for specific sustainable development. This study aims to use an easy-to-use tool package named Landslide Sustainability Mapping Tool pack (LSM tool Pack) for preparing potential groundwater zone based on R and ArcGIS software integration. This tool uses five modules for processing. Among them, the Feature selection (FS) module brings a novel approach, determining the best subset feature for demarcating the groundwater potential zone. As a result, this best factor subset is used as an input of this tool pack. Additionally, PE modules evaluate the performance of proposed models in statistical performance metrics. In addition, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was obtained with the integration of Performance Evaluation (PE) modules and ARC maps, which helps visual interpretation in evaluating models. This study uses the LSM tool Pack in the Rupnarayan river basin to map the potential groundwater zone based on fourteen controlling factors selected through the FS module, which will further help the local government to make a substitute policy. The various methods based on a machine learning-based ensemble model is employed to suggest suitable crops based on soil data, focusing on accuracy and efficiency. The outcome of the developed system shows promise in enhancing input-output efficiency, improving decision-making, and reducing unsuitable crop choices, thereby boosting agricultural productivity and positively impacting India's economy. To resolve this issue, prediction of the extent of Global Warming to name the solutions is needed and the proposed system suggests the same. Purpose: This study aims to examine the technical efficiency of the chemical-free farming system in India using a hybrid combination of data envelopment analysis (DEA) and machine learning (ML) approaches. Design/methodology/approach: The study used a two-stage approach. In the first stage, the efficiency scores of decision-making units' efficiency (DMUs) are obtained using an input-oriented DEA model under the assumption of a variable return to scale. Based on these scores, the DMUs are classified into efficient and inefficient categories. The 2nd stage of analysis involves the identification of the most important predictors of efficiency using a random forest model and a generalized logistic regression model. Findings: The results show that by using their resources efficiently, growers can reduce their inputs by 34 percent without affecting the output. Orchard's size, the proportion of land, grower's age, orchard's age and family labor are the most important determinants of efficiency. Besides, growers' main occupation and footfall of intermediaries at the farm gate also demonstrate significant influence on efficiency. Research limitations/implications: The study used only one output and a limited set of input variables. Incorporating additional variables or dimensions like fertility of the land, climatic conditions, altitude of the land, output quality (size/taste/appearance) and per acre profitability could yield more robust results. Although pineapple is cultivated in all eight northeastern states, the data for the study has been collected from only two states. The production and marketing practices followed by the growers in the remaining six northeastern states and other parts of the country might be different. As the growers do not maintain farm records, their data might suffer from selective retrieval bias. Practical implications: Given the rising demand for organic food, improving the efficiency of chemical-free growers will be a win-win situation for both growers and consumers. The results will aid policymakers in bringing necessary interventions to make chemical-free farming more remunerative for the growers. The business managers can act as a bridge to connect these remote growers with the market by sharing customer feedback and global best practices. Social implications: Although many developments have happened to the DEA technique, the present study used a traditional form of DEA. Therefore, future research should combine ML techniques with more advanced versions like bootstrap and fuzzy DEA. Upcoming research should include more input and output variables to predict the efficiency of the chemical-free farming system. For instance, environmental variables, like climatic conditions, degree of competition, government support and consumers' attitude towards chemical-free food, can be examined along with farm and grower-specific variables. Future studies should also incorporate chemical-free growers from a wider geographic area. Lastly, future studies can also undertake a longitudinal estimation of efficiency and its determinants for the chemical-free farming system. Land use and land cover changes have greatly contributed to global warming and increased urbanization during the last two decades. It is crucial to track alterations of the globe's surface's usage of land as well as cover in order to obtain accurate information about the study region for all development planning scenarios. Land cover categorization is critical for identifying changes, managing development, and tracking and assessing the ground's surface area. Along with RS and GIS methodologies, machine learning algorithms have recently gained popularity in land use and land cover change detection studies. This present study was conducted to detect land use and land cover (LULC) in a heterogeneous landscape of Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India by using different machine learning classifiers, i.e. (i) Random forest. (ii) SmileCart (iii) SmileGradientTreeBoost and (iv) SVM. Overall accuracy and kappa coefficient found for RF, SVM, CART and GTB were (0.98, 0.96), (0.97, 0.95), (0.80, 0.75) and (0.89, 0.80) respectively. Tomatoes, which are extensively grown in Indian agricultural fields, are among the commonly cultivated vegetable crops. The tropical climate in India provides favorable conditions for tomato cultivation. However, various factors, including climatic conditions and other elements, can adversely affect the normal growth of tomato plants. Plant diseases present a significant risk to crop production and can lead to economic losses, adding to the challenges posed by climate conditions and natural disasters. Unfortunately, traditional methods of detecting diseases in tomato crops have proven to be ineffective and time-consuming. This study primarily aims to accurately identify tomato plant leaf diseases that are found using image analysis. Various methods have been applied for extracting the features that have been used to improve the accuracy of classification. Alex Net, InceptionV3, and a CNN (Conv Net) algorithm have been utilized to classify many types of tomato plant diseases. When comparing the results, it is notable that the CNN (Conv Net) classifier outperforms the other two models. Domestic violence, especially intimate partner violence (IPV), is an important issue worldwide, especially in India. Those that experience it may not always be able to come forward or have access to the required social support to act against it. We use National Family Health Survey data (n = 66,013 women) to create machine learning models which can predict IPV instances with a recall of 78%. We use the top 15 best predicting questions that avoid sensitive issues to create a field tool that frontline health workers can use to identify women with a high risk of IPV and provide the support they need. This study investigates how household inflation expectations relate to realized inflation, and uses biased expectations hypothesis (BEH) to understand the association between inflation expectations and realized inflation in the food sector. Household survey data, wholesale price index (WPI), and consumer price index (CPI)-based data on inflation are used in the study and the data was sourced from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Government of India. The obtained results were cross-validated using auto-SARIMAX algorithm in a machine learning (ML) framework. The study finds that expected and realized inflation have significant causal relationships; this further supports BEH and reveals how household inflation expectations impact actual market inflation, and vice versa.
