- Abstract
Introduction: Unlike high-income countries (HICs), there are few early intervention services for psychosis in low-and middle-income countries (LAMICs). In HICs, research spurred the growth of such services. Little is known about the state of EIP research in LAMICs, which we address by examining their research output and collaborations vis-à-vis that of HICs., Methods: We conducted a search in Scopus database for early psychosis publications in scientific journals since 1980. Data from each record, including title, author affiliation, and date, were downloaded. For HIC-LAMIC collaborations, data on first, corresponding and last authors' affiliations, and funding were manually extracted. Descriptive statistics and social network analysis were conducted., Results: Globally, early psychosis publications increased from 24 in 1980 to 1297 in 2022. Of 16,942 included publications, 16.1 % had LAMIC authors. 71.3 % involved authors from a single country (regardless of income level). 21.9 % were collaborations between HICs, 6.6 % between HICs and LAMICs, and 0.2 % among LAMICs. For research conducted in LAMICs and involving HIC-LAMIC collaborations, the first, last, and corresponding authors were LAMIC-based in 71.8 %, 60.7 %, and 63.0 %, respectively. These positions were dominated (80 %) by authors from four LAMICs. 29.4 % of the HIC-LAMIC subset was funded solely by LAMIC funders, predominantly two LAMICs., Conclusions: LAMICs are starkly underrepresented in the otherwise flourishing body of early psychosis research. They have far fewer collaborations and less funding than HICs. Closing these gaps in LAMICs where most of the world's youth live is imperative to generate the local knowledge needed to strengthen early psychosis services that are known to improve outcomes., Competing Interests: Declaration of Competing Interest None., (Copyright © 2024 The Authors. - Abstract
Objective: Describe the landscape of tobacco-related topics, funders and institutional networks in Africa., Data Sources: We searched PubMed, Embase and African Index Medicus for published articles from January 1996 to August 2018 in any language., Study Selection: Two researchers independently reviewed titles and abstracts for a focus on nicotine or tobacco product(s) and describe data or recommendations specific to Africa. Ultimately, 818 articles were identified., Data Extraction: Three independent coders conducted qualitative analyses of articles and extracted funders, study populations, countries of research focus, research topics, tobacco products, study design and data source. A bibliometric analysis estimated coauthorship networks between the countries of authors' primary institutional affiliation., Data Synthesis: All 54 African countries were represented in two or more articles. The coauthorship network included 2714 unique authors representing 90 countries. Most articles employed a cross-sectional study design with primary data collection, focused on cigarettes and studied use behaviour. Few articles examined tobacco farming or interventions for cessation or prevention. The most frequently cited funder was the US National Institutes of Health (27.2%). A range of coauthorship patterns existed between African institutions with some coauthoring with one institution while others coauthored with 761 institutions in other African countries., Conclusions: The literature review identified the need for implementation research for tobacco control interventions and policies, economic and development impacts of tobacco use research, and tobacco industry and tobacco production and farming research. Numbers of research collaborations between institutions in Africa vary, suggesting the need for regional institutional capacity building., Competing Interests: Competing interests: None declared., (© Author(s) (or their employer(s)) 2024. Background: In the Netherlands, university medical centres (UMCs) bear primary responsibility for conducting medical research and delivering highly specialized care. The TopCare program was a policy experiment lasting 4 years in which three non-academic hospitals received funding from the Dutch Ministry of Health to also conduct medical research and deliver highly specialized care in specific domains. This study investigates research collaboration outcomes for all Dutch UMCs and non-academic hospitals in general and, more specifically, for the domains in the non-academic hospitals participating in the TopCare program. Additionally, it explores the organizational boundary work employed by these hospitals to foster productive research collaborations. Methods: A mixed method research design was employed combining quantitative bibliometric analysis of publications and citations across all Dutch UMCs and non-academic hospitals and the TopCare domains with geographical distances, document analysis and ethnographic interviews with actors in the TopCare program. Results: Quantitative analysis shows that, over the period of study, international collaboration increased among all hospitals while national collaboration and single institution research declined slightly. Collaborative efforts correlated with higher impact scores, and international collaboration scored higher than national collaboration. A total of 60% of all non-academic hospitals' publications were produced in collaboration with UMCs, whereas almost 30% of the UMCs' publications were the result of such collaboration. Non-academic hospitals showed a higher rate of collaboration with the UMC that was nearest geographically, whereas TopCare hospitals prioritized expertise over geographical proximity within their specialized domains. Boundary work mechanisms adopted by TopCare hospitals included aligning research activities with organizational mindset (identity), bolstering research infrastructure (competence) and finding and mobilizing strategic partnerships with academic partners (power). These efforts aimed to establish credibility and attractiveness as collaboration partners. Conclusions: Research collaboration between non-academic hospitals and UMCs, particularly where this also involves international collaboration, pays off in terms of publications and impact. The TopCare hospitals used the program's resources to perform boundary work aimed at becoming an attractive and credible collaboration partner for academia. Local factors such as research history, strategic domain focus, in-house expertise, patient flows, infrastructure and network relationships influenced collaboration dynamics within TopCare hospitals and between them and UMCs. Purpose: This paper aims to review corporate fraud, as a concept, and the emerging research trends in corporate fraud research from 1957 to 2022 using bibliometric analysis techniques. Design/methodology/approach: A total of 7,750 publications from the Scopus database were first assessed using performance analysis to explore the descriptive nature of the bibliographic data, and subsequently, citation, co-citation, co-occurrence and bibliographic coupling analyses were conducted using the VOSviewer software. Findings: The results indicate there has been increasing growth in fraud research over the years, especially since the global corporate scandals of 2008. Although fraud is a global issue, the results suggest that most extant studies originate from developed economies, with a high level of collaboration amongst scholars in these countries. In addition, the co-occurrence analysis indicates that research into corporate fraud has largely focused on its determinants and corruption. The determinants identified are further clustered in the paper as individual, organizational and national-level factors. Practical implications: The findings should inform practitioners and policymakers of the state of knowledge on corporate fraud which could be useful in developing strategies and policies to mitigate its occurrence. Social implications: The study points to the need for research collaborations among scholars in developing economies to increase investigations into the occurrences of fraud. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study to holistically assess the intellectual structure of corporate fraud studies from its inception and the trends over time. Implantable medical devices (IMDs) play a crucial role in improving individuals' well-being and ensuring their safety by providing real-time health data monitoring for recovery. The use of energy harvesting (EH) technology has become increasingly popular among researchers because it offers the potential to extend the battery life of IMDs and reduce their weight. This study successfully examined the expansion of EH in the field of IMDs, the distribution of publications across different countries, and the identification of the most influential authors for potential research collaborations. A bibliometric analysis was conducted to evaluate two metrics: performance and science mapping. Data was collected from the Scopus database from the initial publications until October 2023, encompassing 250 articles published in Englishlanguage journals. The titles, keywords, and abstracts of these publications were analyzed and interpreted using VOS Viewer (version 1.6.19). Furthermore, network analysis using VOS Viewer enabled the identification of key research clusters. The findings reveal a continuous increase in EH for research on infectious and parasitic diseases over the 15-year period from 2008 to 2023. The United States and the University of Bern are recognized as the leading contributors to this field, based on their country and institutional contributions, respectively. The author with the most published papers and citations hails from China. Additionally, this study identifies several opportunities for collaboration with countries, institutions, authors, and research hotspots in EH for IMDs that benefit the reader. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study aims to assess the response of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to cleaner production and environmental sustainability, with a specific focus on identifying the leading countries and research networks driving these efforts. Design/methodology/approach: A benchmarking academic journal was chosen, and the journal's archive was comprehensively examined. To construct the data set, a conventional keyword search technique was applied in February 2023 to filter for ASEAN affiliations. The study used hybrid bibliometric analyses and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) to analyze the collected data and address the research purpose. Findings: The data analysis revealed a rising research trend, particularly after 2014. Malaysia had the most publications, followed by Thailand and Singapore, and their publications had the most cumulative citations among ASEAN countries. Research collaborations between Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore were frequent, but participation from other countries was low. The research topics on which ASEAN members focused were also identified, but it became apparent that there was little coordination. A scant few collaborations involving more than two countries were observed; thus, the MCDA analysis concluded that research leadership was absent in ASEAN countries. Originality/value: This study contributes insights to the existing literature and offers a valuable overview of the research direction and collaboration status of cleaner production and environmental sustainability in the ASEAN region, thus benefiting policymakers. Additionally, this study introduces a novel approach combining bibliometrics analysis with MCDA to assess research collaboration, thus providing a novel methodology for future research policy evaluations. With the increase of studies in the field of university-industry cooperation, the need to integrate studies that have investigated the research process of this interaction has become more apparent. In this regard, the present research analyzed the review and bibliometric studies of the interaction between university and industry using a scoping review. The guide provided by Daudt, Van Mossel and Scott (2013) is the basis for conducting the scoping review. We used international databases, and 2,590 articles were retrieved. After sampling based on the PRISMA diagram and using the JBI institute for the quality of the selected sources, 64 articles were selected for the final analysis. A review of studies analyzing university-industry interaction showed that research publications in this field have grown despite random fluctuations. Various factors account for the growth of studies in this field, including transforming the missions and activities of universities by moving towards entrepreneurship and commercialization of research and the formation of entrepreneurial universities, increasing technology transfer offices, the growth of inventions in universities, and expanding research collaborations. The most crucial obstacle to university-industry alliances is the difference in their goals and missions. Intermediary institutions, especially science parks, and incubators, are essential for effective communication between universities and industry. Some of the most critical topics in University-Industry Interaction are innovation, economic development, sustainable development, science parks and incubators, start-ups, spin-offs, knowledge transfer, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and research commercialization. PHOTOVOLTAIC power generation ,BIBLIOMETRICS ,ELECTRIC power production ,SUSTAINABILITY ,SOLAR technology ,AQUACULTURE ,SUSTAINABLE aquaculture - Abstract
Photovoltaic (PV) aquaculture offers a promising solution for sustainable electricity generation for farm and grid utilization (SEG/FGU). This fusion of solar technology and aquaculture methods is crucial for sustainable food production and eco-friendly power and grid integration. However, there is a significant gap in research, with a lack of comprehensive studies that highlight current advancements, publication patterns, research focal points, key contributors, and future avenues for advancing FGU research. A bibliometric analysis of the SEG/FGU research based on Scopus data revealed a steady rise in publications due to environmental issues, research collaborations, and funding availability. China emerged as the top nation with the most articles published (18 articles and 240 citations) on SEG/FGU growth and development, with Alexander Golberg, Tel Aviv University (Israel), and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) as prolific authors, institutions, and funders, respectively. China's supremacy has been attributed to the availability of funding from significant programs like NSFC. Three prominent research focal points emerged: the integration of solar energy, agriculture, and desalination; the progression of PV technology within the renewable energy sector; and the intersection of aquaculture and ecological stewardship. The current research focus is on enhancing efficiency, developing effective energy storage solutions, and expanding the scope of applications for agricultural practices. However, significant research voids persist in sustainable aquaculture applications, designing and integrating hybrid PV systems, and achieving scalability in PV technology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Child marriage, a stark disruption of the traditional childhood experience, remains a pressing concern, yet the scientific exploration of this complex issue has been surprisingly overlooked in terms of comprehensive analysis and mapping. This study aimed to bridge this gap by conducting an extensive examination and mapping of child marriage literature within peer-reviewed journals. Employing the powerful Scopus database, the study combed through research articles spanning from 1983 to 2022. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were applied to uncover research trends and content patterns. The search string led to the retrieval of 964 relevant documents, revealing a nearly equal distribution between medical and social science subject areas. The analysis yielded several crucial findings. Firstly, it became evident that the current volume of research on child marriage, considering the prevalent rates and impact, falls considerably short of being adequate. A notable surge in research output was detected in the most recent five-year span (2018–2022), likely in response to the global commitment to sustainable development goals. Despite countries with high child marriage rates contributing relatively less to the research landscape, specific nations like India, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Nigeria left a noticeable imprint. Furthermore, high-income countries, including the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia, demonstrated significant involvement primarily through international research collaborations with scholars in high child marriage rate regions. Equally noteworthy is the revelation that the field of child marriage is a convergence of scholarly efforts from both the social and medical sciences. Notably, the University of California San Diego played a pivotal role in shaping and fostering research in this domain. In conclusion, the urgency of eliminating all detrimental practices against girls necessitates heightened research efforts, deeper collaboration, and a more holistic approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Vaccine hesitancy has emerged as one of the top challenges to global health and has received increasing attention during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study is a descriptive bibliometric analysis of peer-reviewed literature on vaccine hesitancy from a behavioural perspective, covering publications from 2015 to 2022. The study used data retrieved from the Scopus database to examine bibliometric indicators, including publication trends, citation analysis and top-cited articles, the most impactful journals in which vaccine hesitancy articles appear, the most productive and influential countries from which research was produced, international collaborations between countries, leading authors, author collaboration networks and research themes. Predictably, the literature on vaccine hesitancy has increased significantly since 2020. The most impactful journals in which this research appeared are primarily linked to the academic fields of health and behavioural studies, social sciences, health psychology, and health communications. The majority of the extant vaccine hesitancy literature, research collaborations and its authors are associated with the United States and European nations. Furthermore, analysing the most frequently occurring terms in the titles and abstracts of the retrieved 352 articles yielded four research themes. These included analyses of individual predispositions towards vaccination encompassing attitudes, behaviour, risk perceptions, belief, fear, and intentions towards vaccines and vaccination. Other prominent themes included vaccine hesitancy in general and concerning COVID-19 vaccines specifically, child vaccination and interventions to increase vaccine uptake and implications of social media and information with respect to vaccine hesitancy. The findings indicate that research productivity around vaccine hesitancy was greatest in western and high-income countries, revealing the need to invest and conduct further research in low- and middle-income countries to understand its global nuances better. Numerous papers have been published on the microbiota in lung cancer in recent years. However, there is still a lack of bibliometric analysis of the microbiota in lung cancer in this field. Our paper did bibliometric analyses and elucidated the knowledge structure and study hotspots related to the microbiota in lung cancer patients. We screened publications reporting on the microbiota in lung cancer from 2008 to 2023 from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database, and carried out bibliometric analyses by the application of the VOSviewers, CiteSpace and R package "bibliometrix." The 684 documents enrolled in the analysis were obtained from 331 institutions in 67 regions by 4,661 authors and were recorded in 340 journals. Annual papers are growing rapidly, and the countries of China, the United States and Italy are contributing the most to this area of research. Zhejiang University is the main research organization. Science and Cancer had significant impacts on this area. Zhang Yan had the most articles, and the Bertrand Routy had the most co-cited times. Exploring the mechanism of action of the lung and/or gut microbiota in lung cancer and therapeutic strategies involving immune checkpoint inhibitors in lung cancer are the main topics. Moreover, "gut microbiota," "immunotherapy," and "short-chain fatty acids" are important keywords for upcoming study hotspots. In conclusion, microbiota research offers promising opportunities in lung cancer, with pivotal studies exploring the mechanisms that link lung and gut microbiota to therapeutic strategies, particularly through immune checkpoint inhibitors. Moreover, the gut-lung axis emerges as a novel target for innovative treatments. Further research is essential to unravel the detailed mechanisms of this connection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Using bibliometric analysis of large-scale publication data is a simple approach to exploring gender-related trends, especially gender equality in academic publishing. The aim of this study is to investigate gender trends in the fields of bio-economy and rural development sciences in two under develop regions as Latin America and Africa. This study examines gender differences in these fields in order to: (1) recognize the contribution of female researchers in bioeconomy and rural development, (2) explore the relational structure of gender aspects in academic publications, (3) identify trends in female authorship in these scientific research fields over time, and finally (4) identify gender potentials for women to become more visible in these fields of study. To achieve these objectives, we used bibliometric tools to analyses 1891 publication records in bioeconomy and rural development. After cleaning the database of full names of authors of academic publications relevant to the field studies, we performed a series of statistical analyses in R and SPSS software, such as Lotkas distribution, network analysis, co-authorship analysis and spatial distribution of authors in the study. The results show that the number of male authors is almost three times higher than the number of female authors, suggesting that women are under-represented in the fields studied. Men occupy the most important position of authorship in scientific articles; publications with corresponding male authors were found in 1389 out of 1891 publications related to the bio-economy and rural development. In terms of geographical regions, publications with female authors were more prevalent in European and North American areas, with a small exception in some developing countries such as Argentina and South Africa. In terms of research networks, from the total number of authors evaluated, only 23% are female authors on the map of research influence. This indicates that there is a significant gap to be filled in the promotion of scholarly impact through the sharing of knowledge and expertise among authors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Microorganisms with the ability to dissolve phosphorus have the potential to release this essential nutrient into the soil through natural solubilization processes, which allows for boosting plant growth and development. While literature reviews acknowledge their potential, unexplored territories concerning accessibility, application, and effective integration into sustainable agriculture necessitate further research. This manuscript employed distinct methodologies to execute a bibliometric analysis and a literature review. The combined application of both methodologies enables a holistic understanding of the domain landscape and its innovative facets. For the bibliometric analysis, the propositions of Donthu and Jia were utilized, supplemented by tools, such as Bibliometrix. The literature review adhered to a systematic methodology predicated on Petersen's guidelines to represent the domain accurately, pinpointing trends and gaps that could steer future, more detailed research. This investigation uncovers an escalating interest in studying these microorganisms since the 2000s, emphasizing their significance in sustainable agriculture and the context of phosphorus scarcity. It was also discerned that India and China, nations with notable agricultural sectors and a high demand for phosphorus fertilizers, spearheaded research output on this subject. This signifies their substantial contribution to the progression of this scientific field. Furthermore, according to the research consulted, phosphorus-solubilizing microorganisms play a pivotal role in the symbiotic interaction of soil with plant roots and represent an efficacious strategy to counteract the low availability of phosphorus in the soil and sustainably enhance agricultural systems. Finally, this review contributes to the relevant domain by examining existing empirical evidence with special emphasis on sustainable agriculture, improved understanding of phosphorus solubilization mechanisms, and recognition of various microbial entities. Cell-cultured meat holds significant environmental value as an alternative protein source. Throughout the 21st century, cell-cultured meat has progressively penetrated commercial markets. However, a systematic review encompassing the entire field needs improvement. Employing Citespace, Vosviewer, and R-Bibliometrix software, a bibliometric analysis was used to present the research progress and general development trends of 484 articles on cell-cultured meat from 2000 to 2022 based on countries, authors, institutions, and keywords. This analysis provides ideas for the future development of cell-cultured meat in different countries or regions worldwide. Research on cell-cultured meat from 2000 to 2022 has undergone two phases: fluctuating growth (2000–2013) and rapid growth (2013–2022). Noteworthy contributions to cell-cultured meat studies emerge from author groups in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and China, with influential institutions like the University of Bath significantly impacting pertinent research. Furthermore, over the past two decades, research has leaned towards exploring topics such as "biomaterials", "cultured", "land use", "public opinion", "animal welfare", and "food safety". Furthermore, this study reveals differences in nomenclature between regions and institutions. "Cultured meat" is more popular in some countries than in other forms. Institutions in Asia use "cultured meat" more frequently; however, institutions in the Americas adopt "cultivated meat" and rarely adopt "in vitro meat", and institutions in the European region have no particularly prominent tendency towards a specific nomenclature. Future research should emphasize aligning the labeling of cell-cultured meat with effective management strategies and referencing regulatory policies across various countries. For the first time, we use three different bibliometric methods to analyze temporal and spatial variation in research on cellular meat. The results of this study have a multiplier effect. We provide a theoretical basis and a practical reference for the identification of alternatives in the dual context of "food crisis and food security" and "climate crisis". At the same time, we also provide a reference for the sustainable development of the food system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
