Ferroelectric polarization induced by the magnetic field is one of the properties reported in honeycomb antiferromagnetic linear magnetoelectrics (LME) belonging to the A4M2O9P 3 ¯ c1 class of corundum compounds with A = Co, Fe, and Mn and M = Nb or Ta. Among them, Mn4Nb2O9 exhibits the highest TN of 108 K. We show that it can even be increased by substituting partly Mn by Fe. The study of Mn4−xFexNb2O9 allows one to reach a TN up to 126 K at x = 1.5. This beneficial effect, confirmed also for Fe substituted Mn4Ta2O9, is compared to substitutions by Co or by Zn, both cations inducing a TN decrease. The linear decrease in the unit cell volume with x in Mn4−xFexNb2O9 shows that the cation size effect only cannot be inferred to explain the TN(x) curve. Furthermore, the spin flop magnetic field of Mn4Nb2O9 decreases, thanks to the Fe for Mn substitution, a LME effect is evidenced at 10 K, ΔP(9T)10K = 11 μC/m2. Background: Androgenetic alopecia, the most common cause of non-scarring hair loss, is a consequence of the gradual miniaturization of the hair follicles. In the majority of male androgenetic alopecia cases, a patient's history and clinical evaluation may be sufficient to establish the diagnosis, while for women, they should be supplemented with trichoscopy. Methods: The PubMed and Scopus databases were used to collate published studies and to analyze the most typical trichoscopic findings in patients diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia. A total of 34 articles were retrieved after exclusion. Results: The most common features identified using trichoscopy included hair diameter variability (94.07% of patients), vellus hairs (66.45%) and the peripilar sign (43.27%). Others, such as the honeycomb pattern, yellow and white dots, were less relevant. Conclusions: We concluded that hair diameter variability, vellus hairs and the peripilar sign represented valuable indicators for the diagnosis of androgenetic alopecia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The membrane-type structure that can achieve excellent sound insulation characteristics under lightweight conditions is widely concerned, but it generally involves a small mass block attached to a thin membrane. Although this kind of design can obtain better acoustic insulation performance, the mass block will cause installation and manufacturing issues in industrial applications. This paper presents a multilayer honeycomb membrane-type acoustic metamaterial with an interlayer structure. Similar to the mass block, the interlayer structure makes less sound energy transmitted by varying the eigenmode characteristics of the membrane. Considering the integrated design of the interlayer structure, the issues of installation and manufacturing are solved and the sound transmission loss is enhanced on the fixed overall dimension and small additional mass. The results indicate that the design of interlayer structures can break the bottleneck of ultrathin and lightweight requirements. Meanwhile, the symmetry of interlayer position can lead to the shift in transmission loss valley to a higher frequency, achieving high sound insulation in a wide frequency range. We consider four common defects that appear in an infinite single-layer graphene lattice, i.e. single vacancy V 1 (5 − 9) , Stone-Wales SW (55 − 77) , and double vacancies V 2 (5 − 8 − 5) and V 2 (555 − 777). Investigating the honeycomb pattern of the graphene, we make use of the concept of shortest closed paths (periodic orbits) in the underlying topological structure. This study explores the design and performance of axisymmetric hexachiral honeycombs, utilizing the hexachiral honeycomb framework and axisymmetric design method. Four axisymmetric hexachiral honeycombs with distinct arrangements were developed: left–right symmetry hexachiral honeycomb (LSHH), up–down symmetry hexachiral honeycomb (USHH), central symmetry hexachiral honeycomb (CSHH), and subunits symmetry hexachiral honeycomb (SSHH). The deformation patterns and compression behaviors of these honeycombs were comprehensively examined through experimental and numerical simulations, and comparisons were made with a non-symmetric hexachiral honeycomb (NHH). The results indicate that symmetrically designed honeycombs exhibit a larger mean plateau stress than the asymmetrically designed the NHH during low-velocity impacts. The study further discusses deformation patterns, specific energy absorption, and the negative Poisson's ratio effect across the five honeycombs under different parameters. Notably, symmetrically designed honeycombs demonstrate superior specific energy absorption, and the negative Poisson's ratio effect becomes evident at an impact velocity of 10 m/s. However, the advantages of axisymmetric honeycombs diminish at higher impact velocities of 50 m/s and 100 m/s. The Poisson's ratio effects of symmetric honeycombs weaken with an increase in the circular ligament r of the honeycomb. Composites of honeycomb-structured high-chromium cast iron matrix reinforced with zirconia-toughened alumina particles (ZTAP) were successfully fabricated by a non-pressure infiltration casting process. Different preform hole patterns were designed in this study, following the principle of keeping the same area of the honeycomb holes with the same outline size. The hardness and modulus continuously increased from the high-chromium cast iron matrix through the interfacial layer to the ZTA ceramic particle. The residual thermal stress in the samples with the circle hole pattern was the lowest at 389.7 ± 20.2 MPa. In this work, we examine the topological phases of the spring-mass lattices when the spatial inversion symmetry of the system is broken and prove the existence of edge modes when two lattices with different topological phases are glued together. In particular, for the one-dimensional lattice consisting of an infinite array of masses connected by springs, we show that the Zak phase of the lattice is quantized, only taking the value 0 or π. We also prove the existence of an edge mode when two semi-infinite lattices with distinct Zak phases are connected. For the two-dimensional honeycomb lattice, we characterize the valley Chern numbers of the lattice when the masses on the lattice vertices are uneven. The existence of edge modes is proved for a joint honeycomb lattice formed by gluing two semi-infinite lattices with opposite valley Chern numbers together. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A theoretical model has been developed to express the longitudinal and transverse piezoelectric effects in ferro/piezoelectrets. This model is an extension of the classic model based on layer-dielectric structures that focuses on the longitudinal piezoelectric effect. The improved model reveals that the relation between the longitudinal piezoelectric d33 coefficient and the transverse piezoelectric d31 coefficient is associated with Poisson's ratio μ13 (or μ31) and Young's moduli Y1 and Y3. The polarity of the two coefficients is opposite for materials with a positive Poisson's ratio as normally observed in conventional piezoelectric materials, and the same for materials with a negative Poisson's ratio, i.e., auxetic materials. The experimental results available in the literature and obtained from ferroelectret metamaterials with a honeycomb cross-sectional structure and two-dimensional (2D) symmetric structure, called 2D ferroelectret metamaterials, designed and prepared in this study reasonably agree with theoretical predictions. This study not only extends the scope of the metamaterials by inducing the concept of ferroelectret metamaterials but also provides a strategy for designing ferroelectrets with designable properties. This study aims to explore the potential application of hollow glass beads (HGB) compounded with graphene oxide (GO, HGB@GO) to improve the mechanical properties of rigid polyurethane foam (RPUF). This HGB@GO/RPUF composite is considered a potential filler for reinforcing aluminum honeycomb (AH). A characterization of the chemical structure and surface morphology of HGB@GO was conducted, as well as the analysis of its effect on the compression properties of the foam. The compressive strength of HGB@GO/RPUF (4 wt. %) is 146.17% higher than that of pure RPUF. This study also compared the deformation modes of AH and foam-filled honeycomb (F-AH) structure under axial crushing. The interaction effects between the foam and AH were also analyzed. The results indicated that the RPUF improves the compressive capacity and deformation stability of the AH through its good compression properties and interaction with the aluminum foil. The use of HGB@GO/RPUF further enhances the energy absorption characteristics of the F-AH. In comparison with the pure RPUF-AH, the total and specific energy absorption of the HGB@GO/RPUF (4 wt. %)-AH increase by 74.65% and 44.98%, respectively. The primary reason for the decrease in power output from the PV array is partial shading. During partial shading conditions (PSCs) PV modules experience a mismatch in current and voltage generated. Also, the power voltage (P–V) characteristics of the PV array possess multiple peaks under PSCs. To mitigate the effects caused by PSCs, the configuration of the PV array is the finest solution. This paper proposes a novel Reduced Cross Tied (RCT) configuration to enhance maximum power output from a symmetrical PV array under PSCs. The RCT configuration has fewer cross-ties compared to the TCT configuration and is applicable to a square array of any size. The proposed RCT configuration along with conventional configurations such as Total Cross Tied (TCT), Series–Parallel, Bridge-Link, and Honey-Comb are validated in simulation and hardware for 7 × 7 and 8 × 8 symmetrical PV arrays under Short and Narrow (SN), Short and Wide (SW), Long and Narrow (LN) and Long and Wide (LW) shading patterns. A comparative analysis is done between the proposed configuration and conventional configurations in terms of mismatch loss (ML), fill factor, efficiency (η ), Wiring Loss, and Global Maximum PowerPoint (GMPP). The proposed RCT configuration is able to achieve GMPP equal to the TCT configuration under the LN shading pattern and on par with the TCT configuration under SN, SW, and LW shading patterns. RCT-configured PV array possesses a minimum reduction of 25% in wiring loss for any array size. A simple in-situ method was proposed to synthesize surface coating of SiC nanowhiskers on cordierite honeycombs by aluminothermic, silicothermic, and carbothermic reduction reactions. The surface coating of SiC nanowhiskers was synthesized by controlling the partial pressure of SiO gas on the surface of honeycombs, based on the pore-forming process using aluminium(Al) agent. Increasing the porosity of the honeycombs provided aisles to volatilize SiO gas, and the growth of SiC nanowhiskers changed from inside the honeycomb wall to on the honeycomb surface. SEM and TEM observations revealed that the relatively high porosity (≥45%) and sintering temperature (1250–1300 °C) were necessary for obtaining surface coating of SiC nanowhiskers, and the nanowhisker-coating having the smooth morphology and a thickness of ∼150 µm was obtained at 1250 °C. Compared with cordierite honeycombs without SiC nanowhiskers, SiC nanowhiskers inside the honeycomb walls could improve the compressive strength and thermal conductivity with increasing rates of 121% and 123%, respectively, and the surface coating of SiC nanowhiskers increased the specific surface area of the honeycombs by 241 times. Due to their high load-bearing capacity and excellent energy dissipation properties, metal honeycomb lightweight sandwich panels are commonly utilized as highly efficient weight-saving components in the automotive, aerospace, and military industries. Especially the auxetic honeycomb sandwich panels have higher yield strength, more robust shear modulus, fracture toughness, less fatigue expansion, and higher vibration and energy absorption. In this paper, the ballistic resistance and energy absorption mechanisms of a novel re-entrant auxetic honeycomb (RSH) sandwich panel are investigated. The ballistic limits and energy absorption of the re-entrant star-shaped honeycomb (RSH), star-shaped honeycomb (SSH), and re-entrant star-shaped honeycomb (RH) sandwich panels are compared and analyzed, as well as the deformation mechanism during projectile penetration. The results show that the RSH sandwich panel has the best in-plane ballistic performance among the three types of honeycomb sandwich panels. For the same relative density, the ballistic limit of the RSH sandwich panel is 17.4% and 7.1% higher than that of the SSH and RH sandwich panels respectively. In addition, the effects of different design parameters on the ballistic resistance of RSH sandwich panels are investigated by changing the panel thickness, the relative density of the core layer, the cell angle and the cell size. It can be concluded that increasing the thickness of the face sheet is more effective in improving the ballistic limit (perforation energy) of the RSH with a thinner core layer. However, increasing the relative density of the core layer is more effective in enhancing the ballistic limit (perforation energy) for thicker core layers. In this study, the pore structure of carboxymethyl chitosan aerogel (CCSA) was modulated by adjusting the concentration of carboxymethyl chitosan (CCS) in combination with targeted freezing. The hierarchically porous structures were obtained by the freeze-drying process. The results show that the CCSAs prepared by directional freezing have excellent broadband acoustic absorption properties, and also expand the scope of application of CCSAs in practical applications due to the excellent thermal and mechanical properties of the prepared CCSAs. Since the CCSAs prepared by directional freezing still has excellent antimicrobial properties, it also provides a new strategy for aerogels with acoustic properties to be used in medical industry applications. Meniscus tears, a prevalent knee joint injury, can significantly hinder joint functionality. Thus, the control of meniscus tears holds significant importance in preserving the joint's regular functionality. A non-invasive approach involves the recommendation of off-loading insoles; which therapists often prescribe based on their clinical experience. Based on the variety of meniscus tear types, it is essential to assess the effectiveness of different insoles when interacting with these distinct tears. This evaluation can be achieved through biomechanical investigations. To address this requirement, the present study utilized medical imaging to establish the precise lower limb geometry. To refine the acquired geometry, both longitudinal and radial tears were applied to the meniscus's geometry. The subsequent phase entails reconstructing the design of three off-loading insole models currently available in the Iranian market. The outcomes of these models demonstrate that the three-layer insole without honeycombs leads to a stress reduction of 1.1% at the apex of the radial tear. When dealing with a longitudinal tear situated on the inner meniscus, the application of a three-layer insole equipped with a honeycomb structure results in a 15% stress reduction. Utilizing a single layer silicone insole results in an 8% decrease in stress on the external meniscus during longitudinal tears. Hence, the three-layer insole incorporating a honeycomb design is effective for managing longitudinal tears on the inner meniscus. Moreover, the research outcomes indicate that, when comparing the two tear types, longitudinal tears carry a greater risk than radial tears, exhibiting an increased likelihood of worsening. SiC honeycomb ceramics were prepared by recrystallization sintering using α-SiC powders of different particle sizes (0.5, 25, 38, and 45 µm) as raw materials. The effects of the particle gradation on the micro-morphology, pore size distribution, and leading physical properties of the recrystallized silicon carbide (R-SiC) were investigated. The results show that: (1)after sintering at 2 200 °C for 1 h, compared with the honeycomb ceramics with only 25 and 0.5 µm SiC, those with the gradual introduction of 38 and 45 |jm SiC have similar sintered density, larger average sintered neck area between R-SiC coarse particles, higher median aperture size, more concentrated pore size distribution, and fist increased and then declined cold compressive strength; (2) the mechanical properties of R-SiC honeycomb ceramics are the optimal when the particle gradation is 25, 0.5, and 38 |jm, with the cold compressive strength, bulk density, and apparent porosity of 18.0 MPa, 1.81 g · cm-3, and 40.8% respectively. A honeycomb structure is a sandwich structure widely used in fuselage, among which the hexagonal honeycomb core is the most widely used. The energy absorption characteristics and impedance ability of the structure are the main reasons that directly affect the energy absorption characteristics of the honeycomb sandwich structure. Therefore, it is necessary to study the out-of-plane mechanical properties of the composite honeycomb sandwich structure. Based on the numerical simulation results, the energy absorption characteristics of several composite honeycomb sandwich structures are verified by drop hammer impact experiments. The research shows that the transient energy absorption characteristics of the composite honeycomb sandwich structure are mainly related to the cell size of the honeycomb structure. The smaller the size of the front cell, the stronger the overall impact resistance; the strength of the composite honeycomb sandwich structure exceeds that of 7075 aluminum alloy-NOMEX and carbon fiber-NOMEX honeycomb sandwich structures. In this paper, the energy absorption characteristics of composite honeycomb sandwich structures under different impact energy are compared and studied. The displacement, force and energy curves of energy absorption characteristics related to time variables are analyzed. The difference in protective performance between the composite honeycomb sandwich structure and existing airframe structure is compared and studied. The optimal structural design parameters of composite honeycomb sandwich under low-speed impact of drop hammer are obtained. The maximum energy absorption per unit volume of the designed honeycomb sandwich structure is 171.7% and 229.8% higher than that of the NOMEX-AL and NOMEX-C structures. The 6.4 mm and 3 mm cell sizes show good characteristics in high-speed buffering and crashworthiness. The composite honeycomb sandwich airframe structure can improve the anti-damage performance of the UAV airframe structure, ensure the same thickness and lightweight conditions as the existing honeycomb sandwich airframe structure, and improve the single-core bearing mode of the existing airframe structure. Sharp-bending waveguide is a key element for ultra-compact and densely integrated photonic devices, which is promising to enlarge the capability of modern information processing in a single chip. Topological photonics manifest the nature of robust propagation against sharp bending and such robustness has been experimentally demonstrated in topological integrated interfaces. It is important to quantify the bending loss of topological interface but has remained exclusive. In this work, we report on the characterization of sharp-bending robustness in the integrated topological interface of valley photonic crystals (VPCs) by experimentally quantifying the ultralow bending loss. The VPCs are designed on a standard silicon-on-insulator platform with the inversion-symmetry broken in honeycomb lattice, and four types of topological interfaces can be constructed by two topologically-distinct VPCs. As one of the representative cases, zigzag-AA interface is applied to demonstrate the robust propagation along sharp bending. In experiment, we fabricate a series of VPC interfaces with different turn number and the same transmission distance, which perform the ultralow bending loss less than 0.02 dB per 120-deg turning. Furthermore, we experimentally characterize the propagation loss in the integrated interfaces. Our approach not only shows the ability of VPC topological interfaces to suppress backscattering stemming from sharp bending, but also paves the way for topological nanophotonic dense integration. Sandwich structures are often used as protective structures on ships. To further improve the energy-absorbing characteristics of traditional honeycomb sandwich structures, an energy-absorbing mechanism is proposed based on the gradient folding deformation of lotus root nodes and a leafy stem vein homogenizing load mechanism. A honeycomb sandwich structure is then designed that combines lotus root nodes and leafy stem veins. Four types of peak-nest structures, traditional cellular structure (TCS), lotus root honeycomb structure (LRHS), leaf vein honeycomb structure (LVHS), and lotus root vein combined honeycomb structure (LRVHS), were prepared using 3D printing technology. The deformation modes and energy absorption characteristics of the four honeycomb structures under quasistatic action were investigated using a combination of experimental and simulation methods. It was found that the coupling design improved the energy absorption in the structural platform region of the LRHS by 51.4% compared to that of the TCS due to its mechanical mechanism of helical twisting and deformation. The leaf vein design was found to enhance the peak stress of the structure, resulting in a 4.84% increase in the peak stress of the LVHS compared to that of the TCS. The effects of the number, thickness, and position of the leaf vein plates on the honeycomb structure were further explored. The greatest structural SEA effect of 1.28 J/g was observed when the number of leaf vein plates was four. The highest SEA of 1.36 J/g was achieved with a leaf vein plate thickness of 0.6 mm, representing a 7.3% improvement compared to that of the 0.2 mm thickness. In response to the shortcomings of concentrated stress, difficult forming, and short service life of commonly used honeycomb ceramic thermal storage materials with square lattice holes, the author has developed a new type of low stress honeycomb ceramic thermal storage material by studying the structure, forming mold, and extrusion forming material of the thermal storage body. The author introduced the changes in specific surface area and porosity of heat storage materials with different geometric structures, and analyzed and compared the structural characteristics of two types of heat storage materials, namely heat storage balls and honeycomb bodies, under the premise of equal heat storage capacity. The trajectory of air-flow in the heat storage chamber was simulated using CFD software, and the pressure loss and centerline velocity changes of different shapes of honeycomb were analyzed. The flow characteristics, pressure distribution, and heat transfer performance of gas inside different shapes of honeycomb were calculated. The experimental results showed that the closer to the circular shape, the smaller the pressure loss of the centerline. The larger the equivalent diameter, the smaller the resistance along the path. From the perspective of cold pressure loss alone, regular quadrilateral holes and regular circular holes are the best choices for the shape of honeycomb openings. The centerline velocity of the equilateral triangle hole is the largest, indicating that the smaller the equivalent diameter is, the greater the average velocity at the outlet is. The resistance along the path of the round hole is the smallest, the regular quadrilateral hole is slightly larger, and the pressure loss of the equilateral triangle hole is the largest, which exceeds the round hole by nearly 1/3. Taking into account factors such as heat storage, specific surface area, flow characteristics, and heat transfer characteristics, quadrilateral honeycomb cells are the best choice. A fatal weakness in flexible electrodes is mechanical fracture of conductive layer that occurs during repetitive stretching and bending deformation. Thereby, suppression of cracks development is crucially important for maintaining the properties of flexible electronics. Herein, topology optimization and structure design methods are utilized to greatly enhance mechanical properties of the existing island-bridge (I-B) structure. The flexible electrodes, with inner-concave honeycomb negative Poisson's ratio (I-CHNPR) structure and I-B structure, are designed and fabricated via screen-printed process, and conductivity is thoroughly investigated. The research demonstrates that the maximum stretching and bending stress of flexible electrodes with I-CHNPR structure-C are decreased by 30% and 28%, respectively, relative to the I-B structure. Fatigue life is enhanced by 18-fold. In addition, flexible electrode has advantages of better self-recovery and excellent conductivity. The flexible electrode proposed in this article is further applicated to realize the collection of ECG signals which has the advantages of wide application, reusable and high accuracy. Previous studies used to take the regular configuration as the element of the cellular structures, then carry out geometric optimization on the initial structures. Nowadays, more and more bionic metamaterial have been studied for their unique properties, such as bionic honeycomb tubular nested structure, bionic sinusoidal honeycomb, butterfly honeycomb, bamboo and beetle forewing thin-walled structures. Here, we report a novel gardenia-shaped honeycomb (GSH) by observing the gardenia from nature. Two valuable mechanical properties within GSH were explored in this study, which can simultaneously provide good deformability and zero Poisson's ratio effect. To understand the mechanical properties of GSH, we show by theoretical, numerical, and experimental methods where is a good agreement. The developed theoretical models for calculating the in-plane elastic modulus are based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theorem and energy principle. The numerical and experimental tensile process at coincident strain were captured to strongly show the deformability of GSH. In this study, the graded hierarchical hexagonal honeycomb (GHHH) integrating gradient design and hierarchical design was fabricated using the 3D-printing technique, and its in-plane elastic properties were investigated theoretically, experimentally, and numerically. Theoretical solutions were developed based on the Euler beam theory to predict the effective elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio of GHHH, and theoretical values were in good agreement with the experimental and numerical results. The effect of gradient design and hierarchical design on the in-plane elastic properties of GHHH was also analyzed and compared. Results showed that the hierarchical design has a more significant effect on Poisson's ratio and adjusting the internal forces of GHHH compared with the gradient design. In addition, it was found that GHHH exhibited higher stiffness compared with regular hexagonal honeycomb (RHH), graded hexagonal honeycomb (GHH), and vertex-based hierarchical hexagonal honeycomb (VHHH) under the constraint of the same relative density, respectively. Specifically, the effective elastic modulus of GHHH can be enhanced by 119.82% compared to that of RHH. Downhole drilling tool vibration measurement is crucial for drilling exploration safety, so real-time monitoring of vibration data is required. In this research, a honeycomb triboelectric nanogenerator (H-TENG) capable of adapting to various downhole environments is proposed. It can measure the frequency of downhole drilling equipment's vibrations and transfer mechanical energy to electrical energy for use in powering other low power downhole meters. In order to preliminarily verify the possibility of sensors used for vibration measurement of downhole drilling tools, we built a simulated vibration platform to test the sensing performance and vibration energy collection performance of H-TENG. According to the testing results, the measurement range of vibration frequency and amplitude are 0 to 11 Hz and 5 to 25 mm, respectively, and the corresponding measurement errors are less than 5% and 6%, respectively. For vibrational energy harvesting, when four sensors are wired in series with a 107 resistance, the maximum power is approximately 1.57 μW. Compared to typical methods for measuring downhole vibration, the honeycomb triboelectric nanogenerator does not need an external power source, it has greater reliability and output power, and it can vary its shape to adapt to the complicated downhole environment. In addition, the H-TENG can be combined freely according to the diameter of the drill string, and even if one sensor unit is damaged, the other units can still be used normally. In order to further study the cushioning performance of concave hexagonal cores (CHCs) and expand their application range, the in-plane finite element model of CHCs is established in this paper. A dynamic cushioning coefficient method was proposed to characterize the cushioning performance of CHCs. The dynamic cushioning coefficient curve and minimum dynamic cushioning coefficient (MDCC) of CHCs with different impact velocities and structural parameters are obtained. The influence rules of structural parameters and impact velocities on the MDCC are analyzed; the deformation mode and transformation empirical formula are also obtained. The results show that when other parameters are constant, the MDCC of CHCs decreases with the increase of impact velocity, increases with the increase of wall thickness and side length ratio, and decreases with the increase of expansion angle. The theoretical analysis is consistent with the finite element results, which further verifies the reliability of the model. Recent studies have revealed the potential of 2D moiré superlattices as a condensed matter quantum simulator. The realization of different lattice model Hamiltonians in moiré superlattices has become the focus of researches. Here, it shows that, compared to bilayer moiré superlattices where there is only one interface, the interference between moiré patterns at different interfaces in 2D multilayer structures allows the physical realization of more complicated lattice models. The concept is demonstrated by trilayer moiré superlattices (TMSLs) of MoS2, where it finds that isolated flat moiré bands appear near the valence band edge, and they can be described by the honeycomb lattice ionic Hubbard model. More importantly, the hopping strength, the on‐site Coulomb repulsion, and the staggered potential in the TMSLs are highly tunable through the control of the twist angle, the dielectric environment, and the perpendicular electric field. It is possible to achieve various transitions between distinct quantum phases in the TMSLs, spanning from weak to strong correlation regimes. In contrast to short helical peptides, constrained peptides, and foldamers, the design and fabrication of crystalline 3D frameworks from the β-sheet peptides are rare because of their high self-aggregation propensity to form 1D architectures. Herein, we demonstrate the formation of a 3D porous honeycomb framework through the silver coordination of a minimal β-sheet forming a peptide having terminal metal coordinated 4- and 3-pyridyl ligands. Materials properties are determined by their compositions and structures. In ABO3 oxides different cation orderings lead to mainly perovskite‐ or corundum like derivatives with exciting physical properties. Sometimes, a material can be stabilized in more than one structural modification, providing a unique opportunity to explore structure‐properties relationship. Here, CoVO3 obtained in both ilmenite‐(CoVO3‐I) and LiNbO3‐type (CoVO3‐II) polymorphs at moderate (8–12 GPa) and high pressures (22 GPa), respectively are presented. Their distinctive cation distributions affect drastically the magnetic properties as CoVO3‐II shows a cluster‐glass behavior while CoVO3‐I hosts a honeycomb zigzag magnetic structure in the cobalt network. First principles calculations show that the influence of vanadium is crucial for CoVO3‐I, although it is previously considered as non‐magnetic in a dimerized spin‐singlet state. Contrarily, CoVO3‐II shows two independent interpenetrating antiferromagnetic Co‐ and ferromagnetic V‐hcp sublattices, which intrinsically frustrate any possible magnetic order. CoVO3‐II is also remarkable as the first oxide crystallizing with the LiNbO3‐type structure where both metals contain free d electrons. Through the method of numerical simulation, the detection rules of different defect characteristics and the detection effect of detection process parameters on different defects were explored. The optimal detection process parameters for GFRP/NOMEX honeycomb sandwich structure specimens with delaminating, debonding, water accumulation, and glue plugging defects were obtained. Experimental research was carried out to verify its detection effect for actual tests. The result is that the technology under this parameter can get better defect detection effect. Head impacts in bicycle accidents are typically oblique to the impact surface and transmit both normal and tangential forces to the head, causing linear and rotational head kinematics, respectively. Traditional expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam bicycle helmets are effective at preventing many head injuries, especially skull fractures and severe traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) (primarily from normal contact forces). However, the incidence of concussion from collisions (primarily from rotational head motion) remains high, indicating need for enhanced protection. An elastomeric honeycomb helmet design is proposed herein as an alternative to EPS foam to improve TBI protection and be potentially reusable for multiple impacts, and tested using a twin-wire drop tower. Small-scale normal and oblique impact tests showed honeycomb had lower oblique strength than EPS foam, beneficial for diffuse TBI protection by permitting greater shear deformation and had the potential to be reusable. Honeycomb helmets were developed based on the geometry of an existing EPS foam helmet, prototypes were three-dimensional-printed with thermoplastic polyurethane and full-scale flat and oblique drop tests were performed. In flat impacts, honeycomb helmets resulted in a 34% higher peak linear acceleration and 7% lower head injury criteria (HIC15) than EPS foam helmets. In oblique tests, honeycomb helmets resulted in a 30% lower HIC15 and 40% lower peak rotational acceleration compared to EPS foam helmets. This new helmet design has the potential to reduce the risk of TBI in a bicycle accident, and as such, reduce its social and economic burden. Objective: To compare the detection rate and diagnostic accuracy of cardia polyps using endoscopy with blue laser imaging (BLI) and white‐light imaging (WLI). Methods: Patients were randomly divided into the BLI group and WLI group according to the endoscopic procedures. BLI followed by WLI was conducted in the BLI group, whereas WLI followed by BLI examination was conducted in the WLI group. The number, size, microstructure, and microvascular patterns of cardia polyps detected were recorded. Biopsy of the polyps was then performed. Results: The detection rate of cardia polyps in the BLI group was higher than that in the WLI group (7.87% vs 4.22%, P = 0.018). The rate of overlooked lesions in the BLI group was lower than in the WLI group (0.64% vs 3.38%, P = 0.003). The diagnostic coincidence rate between magnifying BLI and histopathology was 88.16%. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value for the diagnosis of neoplastic lesions by magnifying endoscopy with BLI were 90.91%, 87.69%, 55.56%, and 98.28%, respectively. The most remarkable patterns for predicting inflammatory polyps were the prolonged and fine network patterns (sensitivity 71.43%, specificity 93.75%). Small round combined with honeycomb patterns were the most common among fundic gland polyps (sensitivity 80.00%, specificity 98.48%). Neoplastic lesions presented as villous or ridge‐like combined with core vascular or unclear pattern for both microvascular and microstructure patterns. Conclusion: BLI is more effective than WLI in the detection and diagnosis of cardia polyps, and magnifying endoscopy with BLI may help diagnose such lesions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to improve the impact resistance of sandwich panels under low-velocity impact, the lotus leaf vein is selected as a biological prototype to design a bio-inspired honeycomb (BIH) sandwich panel. ABAQUS is used to establish and effectively verify the finite element (FE) model of the BIH sandwich panel. To systematically compare and study the mechanical properties of BIH and conventional hexagonal honeycomb sandwich panels under low-velocity impact, the maximum displacement of face-sheets, the deformation mode, the plastic energy consumption and the dynamic response curve of the impact end are presented. At the same time, the performance differences between them are revealed from the perspective of an energy absorption mechanism. Furthermore, the influence of the circumscribed circle diameter ratio of the BIH trunk to branch (γ), the thickness ratio of the trunk to branch (K) and the impact angle (θ) on impact resistance is studied. Finally, the BIH sandwich panel is further optimized by using the response surface method. It can be concluded that, compared to conventional hexagonal honeycomb sandwich panels, the addition of walls in the BIH sandwich panel reduces the maximum deformation of the rear face-sheet by 10.29% and increases plastic energy consumption by 8.02%. A potential solution to environmental problems associated to the use of fossil fuels and the exploitation of natural resources for energy production is the development of renewable energies with greater capacity, adaptability and integration, as well as their use for the improvement of this systems. Researchers turned their attention to biological and natural processes such as honeycombs at a structural level to increase the mechanical properties of various technologies. This investigation shows the results of the thermal analysis of a novel solar collector designed based on a Honey-Comb conjecture studied under different connections. Several structures were proposed considering a serial and parallel connections. Each one was designed and simulated in SolidWorks® software Flow Simulation. The study considers different boundary conditions as mass flow and solar radiation on the surface of the collectors. In the analysis, the maximum temperature was achieved at the highest solar radiation of 1050 W / m 2 and the lowest flow mass of 0.052 kg/s. On the other hand, the peak performance of the heat thermal parameter in the whole study was achieved at solar radiation of 1050 W / m 2 and the maximum mass flow of 0.17 kg/s. A honey-comb structure conformed by three collectors (AC1) shows an increase of around 187%, against a single collector (A0), comparing the other structures two collectors in series (AS1) and two collectors in parallel (AP1) connections the total increase in the useful heat obtained with AC1 was 52% and 49% respectively. In this study, a three-rib intersecting composite diamond honeycomb structure is fabricated by interlocking technology. The mechanical properties of the composite interlocked diamond honeycomb (CIDH) and corresponding sandwich structure (CIDHSS) are experimentally tested. The stiffness, strength, and failure characteristics of CIDH and CIDHSS are analyzed. The results show that CIDH has better mechanical properties than the interlocked Kagome and square honeycombs. The edge effect limits the edge compressive strength and stiffness of CIDH. Debonding is the main failure mode that limits both bending and compressive strength of CIDHSS. Honeycomb cores made of phenol resin impregnated paper are widely used in sandwich structures of aircraft. Owing to the rather weak core material, this kind of sandwich is prone to a range of damages as a result of impact loading which may accidentally occur during operation. When employed in aircraft these structures have to be damage tolerant. This means barely visible damages have to be considered in the structural design process. In the standard design process for damage tolerant aircraft structures especially the effect of impacts has to be considered but is mostly investigated on unloaded sandwich components. However, aircraft structures are not completely stress free, even when the aircraft is in parking position. At least the structural weight will cause a permanent static preload. In the literature there are only few investigations dealing with the impact behaviour of preloaded honeycomb sandwich structures. In general, studies on composite structures have shown that tension preloads lead to higher structural impact resistance, while prestressing in compression reduces mechanical properties such as impact strength and stiffness of the structure. For this reason, a compression preload is considered as the more critical load case. In order to evaluate the effect of static compression preloads an experimental study on five different honeycomb sandwich configurations was conducted. The experimental investigations showed that even low preloads cause a higher structural damage area, which results in a lower residual strength of the structure. Triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMSs) have demonstrated significant potential in lattice structure design and have been successfully applied across multiple industrial fields. In this work, a novel lattice structure with tunable anisotropic properties is proposed based on two typical TPMS types, and their mechanical performances are studied both experimentally and numerically after being fabricated using a polymer 3D printing process. Initially, adjustments are made to the original TPMS lattice structures to obtain honeycomb lattice structures, which are found to possess significant anisotropy, by utilizing numerical homogenization methods. Based on this, a continuous self-twisting deformation is proposed to change the topology of the honeycomb lattice structures to largely tune the mechanical properties. Quasi-static compression experiments are conducted with different twisting angles, and the results indicate that self-twisting can affect the mechanical properties in specific directions of the structure, and also enhance the energy absorption capacity. Additionally, it mitigates the risk of structural collapse and failure during compression while diminishing structural anisotropy. The proposed self-twisting strategy, based on honeycomb lattice structures, has been proven valuable in advancing the investigation of lattice structures with largely tunable mechanical properties. Based on the model of magnonic crystals (MCs) with honeycomb structure, we propose another model of two-dimensional MCs with honeycomb–kagome structure that is a periodic magnetic composite system composed of Fe, Co, or Py ferromagnetic cylindrical scatterers arranged in the EuO matrix as the honeycomb–kagome structure. The band structures of magnons in these systems are studied numerically by using the plane-wave expansion method. The results show that the Dirac points of magnons will be generated at the Brillouin region points if the scatterers are close-packed, that is to say, the edges of cylindrical scatterers are in contact with each other. The frequency of Dirac points can be indirectly adjusted by changing the radius ratio of close-packed cylinders. In addition, in the case of a large difference in the radius between the close-packed cylindrical scatterers, there will be a magnonic flat band in the band structure, which is a phenomenon of so-called compact localized states different from the impurity state in the crystal, and it is formed by the highly interference superposition of spin waves in the honeycomb–kagome structure. The research on the generation and modulation of magnonic Dirac points and flat bands not only expands the research content of condensed matter topological physics but also provides a promising platform for the application of artificial MCs in the fabrication of spin-wave topological devices. Reactor design requires safety studies to ensure that the reactors will behave appropriately under incidental or accidental situations. Safety studies often involve multiphysics simulations where several branches of reactor physics are necessary to model a given phenomenon. In those situations, it has been observed that the neutron transport part is still a bottleneck in terms of computational times, with more than 80% of the total time. In the case of hexagonal lattice reactors, transport solvers usually invert the discretised Boltzmann equation by discretising the regular hexagon into lozenges or triangles. In this work, we seek to reduce the computational burden of the neutron transport solver by designing a numerical spatial discretisation scheme that would be more appropriate for honeycomb meshes. In our past research efforts, we have set up interesting discretisation schemes in the finite element setting in 2D, and we wish to extend them to 3D geometries that are prisms with a hexagonal base. In 3D, a rigorous method was derived to shrink the tensor product between 2D and 1D bases to minimum terms. We have applied these functions successfully on a reactor benchmark—Takeda Model 4—to compare and contrast the numerical results in a physical setting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bamboo is an environmentally friendly building structural material. This work investigated the cavity structural characteristics and physical and mechanical properties of honeycomb sandwiches and natural bamboo in the longitudinal direction. The effective elastic parameters of periodically arranged hexagonal bamboo honeycomb cells under in-plane and out-of-plane loads were modeled using analytical and numerical approaches. Then, the effective elastic parameter model of bamboo honeycomb cells was validated by experiments and finite element analysis. The average errors between the calculated and experimental equivalent modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, and shear modulus in the three principal axis directions were 7.43, 4.37, and 8.68%, respectively. The average relativities between the model values of the elastic parameters of the bamboo honeycomb cell and the simulation results in the three directions were 5.46, 5.40, and 6.12%, respectively. The experimental and finite element analysis showed that the constructed effective elastic parameter model of the bamboo honeycomb cell better reflected the state of the bamboo core when subjected to force. This study provides insights for further research on the mechanical properties of bamboo materials and their application in bamboo-based lightweight and high-strength sandwich structures. The dredging sand taken from riverbeds mixing cement can be a potential solution to construct earth levees against annual floods in the Southern Vietnam. The strength, permeability, and microstructure of the dredging sand sample mixed with the OPC cement (soilcrete) at various cement contents of 200, 250, 300, 350, and 400 kg/m3, respectively, were investigated. The soilcrete strength was tested following the ASTM D2166 standard. The soilcrete hydraulic conductivity was determined using the flexible wall permeameter applying the falling head method according to the ASTM D5084 standard. XRD and SEM–EDS examinations were carried out to observe soilcrete microstructure change. The results indicate that the strength and the permeability of the soilcrete specimens were significantly improved with increasing in curing time and cement contents. The soilcrete strength reached 6.13 MPa at a cement content of 400 kg/m3 at 28 days. The soilcrete hydraulic conductivity varied from 8.07 × 10−8 to 2.3 × 10−11 m/s at the cement contents of 200 to 400 kg/m3. The soilcrere microstructure was denser to compare with the untreated sand. The products of CSH, ettringite, and portlandite were detected in the soilcrete specimens by the XRD and SEM–EDS analysis. These products developed with curing time and cement contents. The cementitious products filled voids and arranged as the frame and honeycomb structure which contribute to increase in strength and decrease in permeability in the soilcrete specimens. Gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) have high safety and excellent electrochemical performance, so applying GPEs in lithium batteries has received much attention. However, their poor lithium ion transfer number, cycling stability, and low room temperature ionic conductivity seriously affect the utilization of gel polymer electrolytes. This paper successfully synthesized flexible poly (vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene)–lithium titanium aluminum phosphate (PVDF-HFP-LATP) gel polymer electrolytes using the immersion precipitation method. The resulting GPE has a porous honeycomb structure, which ensures that the GPE has sufficient space to store the liquid electrolyte. The GPE has a high ionic conductivity of 1.03 ×10−3 S cm−1 at room temperature (25 °C). The GPE was applied to LiFePO4/GPE/Li batteries with good rate performance at room temperature. The discharge specific capacity of 1C was as high as 121.5 mAh/g, and the capacity retention rate was 94.0% after 300 cycles. These results indicate that PVDF-HFP-LATP-based GPEs have the advantage of simplifying the production process and can improve the utility of gel polymer lithium metal batteries. We present a new setup for resonant inelastic hard x-ray scattering at the Bernina beamline of SwissFEL with energy, momentum, and temporal resolution. The compact R = 0.5 m Johann-type spectrometer can be equipped with up to three crystal analyzers and allows efficient collection of RIXS spectra. Optical pumping for time-resolved studies can be realized with a broad span of optical wavelengths. We demonstrate the performance of the setup at an overall ∼180 meV resolution in a study of ground-state and photoexcited (at 400 nm) honeycomb 5d iridate α-Li2IrO3. Steady-state RIXS spectra at the iridium L3-edge (11.214 keV) have been collected and are in very good agreement with data collected at synchrotrons. The time-resolved RIXS transients exhibit changes in the energy loss region <2 eV, whose features mostly result from the hopping nature of 5d electrons in the honeycomb lattice. These changes are ascribed to modulations of the Ir-to-Ir inter-site transition scattering efficiency, which we associate to a transient screening of the on-site Coulomb interaction. Optical properties of two-dimensional bilayer silicon have been explored at midinfrared wavelengths using density functional theory. In this work, progressive atomic structural deformation and the resultant variations in the optical properties of the bilayer silicon films were investigated under external in-plane strain. A phase transformation of the atomic structure has been observed at an applied in-plane tensile strain of 5.17%, at which the atomic lattice is changed from a low buckled to a buckle-free honeycomb structure. Evaluations of the optical properties were carried out by taking into account the inter- and intraband transitions. An abrupt change in the optical refraction index was observed at the phase transition. In addition, the buckle-free honeycomb structure presents a strain-resistive absorption edge pinned at 1.14 μm wavelength. Exceeding a strain threshold of 12.26% results in the development of both direct- and indirect-energy bandgap openings. The direct bandgap induced interband optical transitions, resulting in absorption peaks at midinfrared wavelengths and a drastic increase in the refraction index. Moreover, by adjusting the strain, the optical absorptions can be tuned in a wide range of wavelength at midinfrared from 1.5 to 11.5 μm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

3D printed honeycomb structures constituted by neat polylactic acid (PLA) and conductive PLA (PLAc) with different cell sizes and thicknesses were manufactured through 3D printing technology based on material extrusion (MEX). These structures were arranged into bi‐layer honeycomb structures (BHS) for evaluation of the microwave absorbing properties at the X‐band (8.2–12.4 GHz) and Ku‐band (12.4–18 GHz) frequency ranges. The effects of cell size, sample thickness, layer thickness ratio and the nature of the top layer on the electromagnetic attenuation performance of BHS samples were investigated in terms of reflection loss (RL). The components geometric characteristics and the arrangement of the layers exerted great influence on the RL values and effective absorption bandwidth (EAB). Overall the bilayer structures with 5 mm total thickness presented the best EM response in terms of EAB and minimum RL, where the component with the larger cell size (7.7 mm), PLAc (1 mm) as the top layer and PLA (4 mm) as the bottom layer exhibited the best results with RL values of −41 dB and EAB of 9.5 GHz. The BHS system with 7.7 mm cell size was more efficient in Ku band frequency range, whereas that with 3.5 mm cell size gave better response in the X‐band frequency range. Therefore, RL values and EAB can be adjustable by modifying the building strategy of the printed parts, such as thickness of the sample, cell size and thickness distribution of the conductive and non‐conductive layers. The findings in this work show the importance of the building strategy to fabricate components with controllable BHS and improved properties for microwave absorption application. In this work, the roller-shaped double V-wing honeycomb (DVWH) structure was used as the object, which was designed for forest harvesting machines. The deformation characteristics of its rotation under a specific compression were studied during the feeding process for the steel feeding roller used in the traditional combined harvesting machine for trees, which is prone to damaging the wood. The compression rate (10%–15%) and rotational speed (100 mm/s–320 mm/s) were used to analyze the relationship between compression rate, rotational speed, and deformation characteristics. The deformation characteristics, characterized by equivalent stress, radial displacement sensitivity, and energy absorption efficiency, were analyzed. The results show that the deformation characteristics of the roller-shaped DVWH structure under driven mode were more sensitive to compression rate and less sensitive to changes in rotational speed. There was a positive correlation between the equivalent stress of the node and the compression rate. The peak equivalent stress of the outermost node at 10% and 15% compression rates were 111.9 MPa and 230.9 MPa. There was a negative correlation between radial displacement–compression sensitivity and compression rate, and a decrease in radial displacement–compression sensitivity from 10% to 15% compression rate at different nodes ranges from 5% to 22%. Inspired by rotating rigid structures, an auxiliary rotating triangular honeycomb structure (ARTH) is designed in this article. The structure has dual platform stress, which can reduce the initial peak stress generated during collisions, reducing injuries to pedestrians and vehicle occupants. The accuracy of the finite element numerical model is verified by experiments, and a series of researches are carried out. The mechanical properties of the structure at different velocities are studied and the classification diagram of deformation modes is obtained. Under low‐speed impact load, ARTH has two deformation stages and two stress plateau regions, in which the stress of the second plateau is more than twice that of the first plateau. Then, a theoretical model based on plastic dissipation theory predicts the stress platform at different deformation stages under quasi‐static conditions. Parametric analysis shows that increasing wall thickness t can significantly improve the stress platform and energy absorption, but the negative Poisson's ratio effect is weakened. The influence of angle θ on the first stage deformation of ARTH is significant. Consider the tight binding model of graphene, sharply terminated along an edge l parallel to a direction of translational symmetry of the underlying period lattice. We classify such edges l into those of "zigzag type" and those of "armchair type", generalizing the classical zigzag and armchair edges. A multi‐edge micro‐tooth longitudinal‐torsional ultrasonic‐assisted milling (LTUAM) model was established based on the hard brittle characteristics of carbon fiber honeycomb composites and the weak strength characteristics of the hole wall interface. The study analyzed the effects of ultrasonic characterization parameters on the cutting force, honeycomb wall width, and surface morphology. The results indicate that using LTUAM significantly reduced the cutting force and decreased the length and height of the burrs at an appropriate ultrasound amplitude. The spindle speed had the least impact on the width of the honeycomb wall, but increased with the longitudinal‐torsional ultrasonic amplitude and feed rate. The maximum error between the simulated and experimental cutting force values was approximately 19%. The longitudinal amplitude and torsional amplitude were 3 and 5 μm, respectively, the length of burrs decreased by 52.7%, and there was less delamination and tearing damage. LTUAM proved to be beneficial in improving cutting performance. Compared with conventional milling (CM), LTUAM resulted in regular fiber fracture morphology and smaller fragments on the honeycomb surface. In addition, the high‐frequency ultrasonic vibration promoted carbon fiber fracture and the surface roughness value under LTUAM was approximately 36.72% smaller than that of CM. The construction of effective conductive networks can enhance the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance of the conductive polymer composites (CPCs). Herein, poly (l‐lactide) (PLLA) micro‐particles were used as a volume‐occupying phase to design and prepare the PLLA/polydimethylsiloxane/multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (PLLA/PDMS/MWCNT) composites with honeycomb‐like conductive networks. The interfacial morphology of the composites was adjusted by changing the surface morphology of the PLLA micro‐particles. The effects of the morphology and particle size of the PLLA phase on the EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) of the composites were investigated in this study. The results indicate that the PLLA micro‐particles with regular shape and rough surface can effectively improve the EMI shielding performance of the PLLA/PDMS/MWCNT composites with the same filler loadings and the particle size of PLLA micro‐particles. Specifically, the EMI SE of the composites with etched 300‐μm spherical micro‐particles with rough surface can achieve 35.1 dB, which is 15% higher than the EMI SE of 30.6 dB for the composites with the 300‐μm irregular micro‐particles. In addition, the R values of the composites with honeycomb‐like conductive networks are below 0.5, indicating absorption dominated shielding mechanism. Highlights: Aligned graphene building blocks take full advantages of the outstanding properties of graphene. Comprehensive review of recent advancements in the utilization of highly aligned graphene aerogels for multifunctional applications. By systematically summarizing the controlled assembly, aligned structural attributes, quantitative characterization methods, anisotropic properties, and multifunctional applications of graphene aerogels, this review enhances understanding of the material's potential for diverse applications, offering tailored properties and novel functionalities. Stemming from the unique in-plane honeycomb lattice structure and the sp2 hybridized carbon atoms bonded by exceptionally strong carbon–carbon bonds, graphene exhibits remarkable anisotropic electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. To maximize the utilization of graphene's in-plane properties, pre-constructed and aligned structures, such as oriented aerogels, films, and fibers, have been designed. The unique combination of aligned structure, high surface area, excellent electrical conductivity, mechanical stability, thermal conductivity, and porous nature of highly aligned graphene aerogels allows for tailored and enhanced performance in specific directions, enabling advancements in diverse fields. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advances in highly aligned graphene aerogels and their composites. It highlights the fabrication methods of aligned graphene aerogels and the optimization of alignment which can be estimated both qualitatively and quantitatively. The oriented scaffolds endow graphene aerogels and their composites with anisotropic properties, showing enhanced electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties along the alignment at the sacrifice of the perpendicular direction. This review showcases remarkable properties and applications of aligned graphene aerogels and their composites, such as their suitability for electronics, environmental applications, thermal management, and energy storage. Peculiarities of sintering of foamy ceramic filters based on submicron aluminum oxide powders with additions of titanium oxide and manganese dioxide nanopowders are considered. The processes of removal of polymeric and binder paraffin material during sintering have been studied. The physical and mechanical properties of the obtained porous permeable filters with a foamy structure were analyzed in details. At a sintering temperature in an air atmosphere of 1350 °C, sufficiently high physical and mechanical properties were obtained, which made it possible to use the developed filters as catalyst carriers for vehicle exhaust gases. Bench comparative tests have shown that ceramic filters with a foamed structure are promising catalysts for afterburning car exhaust gases instead of ceramic honeycomb blocks of catalyst carriers. The developed technology allows reducing the sintering temperature of porous foam ceramic filters to 1350 °C and replacing expensive high-temperature ceramic heaters with cheaper nickel-chromium ones.
