Ancillary service provision and peak shaving (PS) play essential roles in the current day‐to‐day power system operation, which is challenged by the increasing renewable generation penetration. Providing these critical services using classical approaches such as peak load generators has been limited due to high operational costs and environmental impacts. The use of battery energy storage systems (BESS) is another popular method that is limited by high initial investment costs and high degradation rates. In this work, a novel approach to utilize industrial loads and BESS to provide multiple power system services in different stages is proposed. Industrial loads such as aluminium crushers are known for their intensive electricity consumption. Nevertheless, when applied in frequency regulation (FR), they perform poorly due to their discrete nature in operation. This drawback and the aforementioned BESS shortcomings are addressed by combining on‐site BESS with plant machinery to provide FR services and recover BESS related costs. Later, depending on the optimal capacity distribution, BESS usage is extended into the energy arbitrage market to provide PS services. This approach resulted in higher earnings for participating customers and network operators, as well as in less CO2${\rm {CO}}_{2}$ emissions, and minimal BESS degradations. Cooling equipment is widely used in industry, commerce and households. Due to their widespread use, they are responsible for the consumption of a significant amount of electricity. They are subject to degradation and various types of damage. Most often, their energy efficiency decreases and electricity consumption increases. Practice shows that even a specialist service is unable to diagnose damage at an early stage of its development. The paper presents a comparison of continuous monitoring of the temperature of the cooling chamber as a utility standard, with constant monitoring of the temperature of the cooling chamber and electricity consumption of a professional refrigeration cabinet with a built-in condensing unit. The comparative analysis was intended to confirm the thesis about unconscious waste resulting from assessing the correct operation of the device based on limited information. The experiment showed an increase in daily electricity consumption on average by over 30% during the period of unconscious exploitation of the device in a state of failure and an increase in daily electricity consumption on average above 300% during the period of conscious exploitation of the device in a state of failure, but still at an acceptable level of temperature of cooling chamber. Electricity consumption of mining enterprises depends on many factors. The influence of factors on the process of electricity consumption is complex and diverse, and it is impossible to describe it within the framework of deterministic methods, due to the uncertainty of the conditions that determine the influence of factors. The objective of this paper is to investigate the nonlinear relationship between ICT and CO2 emissions by controlling for economic growth, foreign direct investment, energy consumption, and trade openness. Using data from 16 Middle East and North African (MENA) countries over the period 1990–2019, we apply the Panel Smooth Transition Regression (PSTR) model, as introduced by (González A, Teräsvirta T, vanDijk D (2005) Panel smooth transition regression models. SEE/EFI Working Paper Series in Economics and Finance, No. 604), to study the potential regime-switching behavior of the relationship between the variables. The results reveal the existence of a strong regime-switching effect between ICT and CO2 emissions. It was found that after reaching a certain threshold, ICT use and penetration starts to significantly mitigate environmental degradation. Our results show that high levels of ICT not only improve environmental quality but can also be part of the solution to combat the environmental challenges that the MENA region has faced over the past decades. In addition, to account for the potential endogeneity bias, we also develop and estimate a PSTR model with instrumental variables (IV-PSTR) using the approach of (Fouquau et al., Econ Model 25:284–299, 2008). In this study we test if electricity consumption has asymmetric effects on carbon dioxide emissions in Kuwait, over the period 1971–2018. The study applied the recently developed nonlinear autoregressive distributed lags model of Shin et al. (Festschrift in honor of Peter Schmidt. Springer, New York, 2014) that allows for estimating asymmetric long-and short-run effects. The asymmetric effect was introduced via decomposing the electricity consumption into positive and negative changes. The findings of the nonlinear autoregressive distributed lags model show evidence of asymmetric long-run effect, where the long-run effect of the electricity consumption increase was significantly positive, but the long-run effect of the electricity consumption decrease was not significant. Furthermore, asymmetric short-run effect was found as well. In addition, the modified method of the Granger causality test; namely Toda and Yamamoto (Journal of Econometrics 66:225–250, 1995), shows bidirectional causality between carbon dioxide emissions and both electricity consumption increase and decrease. In view of the empirical outcomes, some policy implications have been drawn. One suggested important implication is moving to use more clean energy sources (wind, solar, hydropower) in electricity production, given that Kuwait has sufficient economic and technological capacity to develop and promote new energy sources. Considering Africa's increasing electricity demands and the pivotal role of electricity in socioeconomic development, this study addresses a research gap in understanding the stochastic properties of per capita electricity consumption in African contexts. Through examining the integration properties of per capita electricity consumption across 19 African countries, the research determines whether 'shocks' yield transitory or permanent effects, aiding policy formulation and future demand forecasting. Annual electric power consumption data (1971 – 2014) (kWh per capita) from the WDI across 19 African countries are used. Our methodology starts with formally testing for cross-sectional dependence (CSD) using various tests to avoid potential size distortions. Subsequently, we employ the novel panel stationarity test of Nazlioglu and Karul (2017), a Fourier KPSS panel stationarity test. The robustness of the analysis is enriched by incorporating the Hadri and Kurozumi (2011) panel stationarity test and Nazlioglu et al. (2021) new panel stationary tests. The CSD test results reveal mutual dependency in electricity consumption among the sampled African countries, underscoring the need for a panel testing methodology that accommodates CSD. The results of the panel stationarity tests that allow CSD and structural breaks—specifically, the Nazlioglu and Karul (2017) test, which models structural breaks as a gradual process—reject the null hypothesis of trend stationarity for both single frequencies, i.e., k =1, and 2. Similarly, all new, complementary panel stationarity tests from Nazlioglu et al. (2021) reject the null hypothesis of stationarity for both frequencies. Collectively, the outcomes from various panel stationarity tests present strong evidence of nonstationary per capita electricity consumption within the sampled African countries. Additionally, the Nazlioglu and Karul panel stationarity test enables an analysis of the individual Fourier KPSS test for cross-sectional units in the panel. Of the 19 countries, only Togo does not reject the null hypothesis of stationarity for both frequencies. These individual country results align with the panel outcomes, providing compelling evidence for the nonstationarity of the per capita electricity consumption series across the investigated African nations. Accordingly, shocks to electricity consumption will have permanent effects, indicating that per capita electricity consumption will not return to its pre-shock equilibrium path. In the application of new energy consumption system engineering, in order to evaluate the contribution of electric power industry expansion, an evaluation model of electric power industry expansion contribution considering the influencing factors of new energy consumption is constructed. In the process of power industry expansion, the growth of new energy installed capacity, power system regulation ability, power grid interconnection and electricity demand are the core factors that affect the change of power contribution to power industry expansion. Using the characteristic extraction method of power consumption behavior of users with industrial expansion, after extracting two characteristics, namely, the utilization hours of user's industrial expansion capacity and the proportion of new energy load put into operation under the change of four major factors, the monthly industrial expansion power consumption of typical users is predicted by the monthly industrial expansion power consumption forecasting method of users considering industrial expansion capacity, and then the growth curve of user's industrial expansion power consumption is drawn. Based on the forecast method of monthly industry expansion electricity generated by industry expansion quantity, the industry expansion quantity of typical individual users is calculated, and the industry expansion quantity is input into RBF network model trained by particle swarm optimization algorithm to complete the forecast of monthly industry expansion electricity; Finally, the contribution ratio of each influencing factor is calculated, and the evaluation of power industry expansion contribution considering the influencing factors of new energy consumption is completed. Adoption of clean electric energy depends not only on administrative regulations, but also on public support, in particular, the public is willing to pay for environmental improvements. However, the increase of solar photovoltaic power generation willingness to pay (WTP) associated with higher education attainment and the identification of their causality has been missing. Present paper used the enactment of the Compulsory Schooling Law as an instrumental variable to solve the causal relationship between education and willingness to pay for photovoltaic power generation. The results are as follows:Heckman two-stage model and instrumental variable both confirmed that higher education has a positive impact on WTP for solar photovoltaic power generation. For each level of public education in the east, the WTP of photovoltaic power generation will increase by 7.540 CNY, 8.343 CNY and 8.343 CNY respectively, the central public will increase by 9.637 CNY, 10.775 CNY and 11.758 CNY, and the western public will increase by 12.723 CNY, 15.740 CNY and 17.993 CNY respectively. The positive influence of education level is smaller among the people who know the ladder price better, but it is bigger among the people who are male, older than 45 years old, healthier, higher income and stronger awareness of safe electricity use. Investing in renewable energy is of utmost importance, especially in the context of addressing climate change. However, while numerous studies have explored the role of renewable energy in achieving carbon neutrality, there is a noticeable gap in the literature regarding how uncertainties affect the impact of renewable energy on electric power CO2. To bridge this gap, the present study employs recently developed nonparametric techniques, namely multivariate quantile-on-quantile regression (MQQR) and time-varying quantile causality (TVQC), to investigate the relationship between renewable energy and electric power CO2 in the presence of uncertainties. The study utilizes monthly data spanning from January 1988 to May 2023. The bivariate results reveal that renewable energy and low uncertainties contribute to improving ecological quality by reducing electric power CO2. Furthermore, the multivariate quantile-on-quantile regression results highlight the substantial influence of low uncertainties on the impact of renewable energy in lowering electric power CO2. Additionally, the TVQC analysis demonstrates that both renewable energy and uncertainties possess predictive power regarding electric power sector CO2. The study discoveries showcase that the influence of renewable energy on electric power CO2 is subject to external moderation. Global concern over socioeconomic activities' environmental impact is undeniable, given their implications for climate and human welfare. In our study, we analyze Pakistan's landscape, with emphasis on the effects of electricity generation and consumption (both symmetric and asymmetric), energy trade, and the role of information and communication technology (ICT). We harnessed data from 1993 to 2020, sourced from World Development Indicators, Climate Watch, and the USA EIA. Our analysis involved application of the Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag model and the Autoregressive Distributed Lag bounds testing methods. Our results reveal that electricity consumption, whether experiencing positive or negative shocks, exhibits a tendency to elevate emissions over the long term. Similarly, shocks in electricity generation from fossil fuels, whether positive or negative, have adverse environmental consequences both in the short and long run. A negative shock in electricity generation from renewable and alternative sources triggers environmental degradation. Remarkably, nuclear energy plays a pivotal role in bolstering environmental sustainability in Pakistan. Conversely, we identified factors contributing to ecological degradation, including imports of coal, crude oil, metallurgical coke, and ICT usage, in the long run. Equally, trade and natural resources rent emerge as mitigating factors over time. Ultimately, our study underscores the importance of diversifying the energy mix, with a particular emphasis on expanding the renewable sources for reducing emissions and fostering environmental sustainability in Pakistan. Additionally, our research suggests that leveraging natural resources rent and trade capabilities can pave the way for an eco-friendlier future in the country. This study assesses the environmental impact of electricity generation by source, electricity consumption, energy trade, and ICTs in Pakistan. The findings confirm that both positive and negative shocks in fossil fuel electricity generation and consumption detrimentally affect the environment. Microgrid optimization scheduling, as a crucial part of smart grid optimization, plays a significant role in reducing energy consumption and environmental pollution. The development goals of microgrids not only aim to meet the basic demands of electricity supply but also to enhance economic benefits and environmental protection. In this regard, a multi-objective optimization scheduling model for microgrids in grid-connected mode is proposed, which comprehensively considers the operational costs and environmental protection costs of microgrid systems. This model also incorporates improvements to the traditional particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm by considering inertia factors and particle adaptive mutation, and it utilizes the improved algorithm to solve the optimization model. Simulation results demonstrate that this model can effectively reduce electricity costs for users and environmental pollution, promoting the optimized operation of microgrids and verifying the superior performance of the improved PSO algorithm. Alternative solvents based on aqueous solutions of amino acids have been recently developed as possible substitutes for Mono Ethanol Amine (MEA) for CO2 removal from flue gas streams. The potassium taurate solvent has the advantages of degradation resistance, low toxicity and low energy requirements for its regeneration. With any type of solvent, CO2 removal applied to a power production plant decreases the revenues obtained from selling electricity because of the energy requirements. Operating the CO2 removal section in flexible mode avoids significant effects on the profits of the power plant, while accomplishing environmental regulations. This work is the first journal paper focusing on the application in flexible mode of the potassium taurate system for treating a flue gas stream from a 500 MW coal-fired power plant. Techno-economic evaluations are performed to determine the best operating conditions considering the variation in the electricity demand and its price, and different values of carbon tax. In the summer period, with high electricity prices and demands, carbon tax values between 45 EUR/tCO2 and 60 EUR/tCO2 favor CO2 absorption in the flexible mode, without periods of full CO2 emissions during the day. Non-technical losses (NTL) have been a growing problem over the years, causing significant financial losses for electric utilities. Among the methods for detecting this type of loss, those based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been the most popular. Many works use the electricity consumption profile as an input for AI models, which may not be sufficient to develop a model that achieves a high detection rate for various types of energy fraud that may occur. In this paper, using actual electricity consumption data, additional statistical and temporal features based on these data are used to improve the detection rate of various types of NTL. Electricity consumption in buildings is one of the major causes of energy usage and knowledge of this can help building owners and users increase energy efficiency and conservation efforts. For Pacific Island countries, building electricity demand data is not readily accessible or available for constructing models to predict electricity demand. This paper starts to fill this gap by studying the case of schools in Fiji. The aim of the paper is to assess the factors affecting electricity demand for grid-connected Fijian schools and use this assessment to build mathematical models (multiple linear regression (MLR) and artificial neural network (ANN)) to predict electricity consumption. The average grid-connected electricity demand in kWh/year was 1411 for early childhood education schools, 5403 for primary schools, and 23,895 for secondary schools. For predicting electricity demand (ED) for all grid-connected schools, the stepwise MLR model shows that taking logarithm transformations on both the dependent variable and independent variables (number of students, lights, and air conditioning systems) yields statistically significant independent variables with an R2 value of 73.3% and RMSE of 0.2248. To improve the predicting performance, ANN models were constructed on both the natural form of variables and transformed variables. The optimum ANN model had an R2 value of 95.3% and an RMSE of 59.4 kWh/year. The findings of this study can assist schools in putting measures in place to reduce their electricity demand, associated costs, and carbon footprint, as well as help government ministries make better-informed policies. Building energy consumption takes up over 30% of global final energy use and 26% of global energy-related emissions. In addition, building operations represent nearly 55% of global electricity consumption. The management of peak demand plays a crucial role in optimizing building electricity usage, consequently leading to a reduction in carbon footprint. Accurately forecasting peak demand in commercial buildings provides benefits to both the suppliers and consumers by enhancing efficiency in electricity production and minimizing energy waste. Precise predictions of energy peaks enable the implementation of proactive peak-shaving strategies, the effective scheduling of battery response, and an enhancement of smart grid management. The current research on peak demand for commercial buildings has shown a gap in addressing timestamps for peak consumption incidents. To bridge the gap, an Energy Peaks and Timestamping Prediction (EPTP) framework is proposed to not only identify the energy peaks, but to also accurately predict the timestamps associated with their occurrences. In this EPTP framework, energy consumption prediction is performed with a long short-term memory network followed by the timestamp prediction using a multilayer perceptron network. The proposed framework was validated through experiments utilizing real-world commercial supermarket data. This evaluation was performed in comparison to the commonly used block maxima approach for indexing. The 2-h hit rate saw an improvement from 21% when employing the block maxima approach to 52.6% with the proposed EPTP framework for the hourly resolution. Similarly, the hit rate increased from 65.3% to 86% for the 15-min resolution. In addition, the average minute deviation decreased from 120 min with the block maxima approach to 62 min with the proposed EPTP framework with high-resolution data. Thanks to various European directives, individuals are empowered to share and trade electricity within Renewable Energy Communities, enhancing the operational efficiency of local energy systems. The digital transformation of the energy market enables the integration of decentralized energy resources using cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence. In order to assess the feasibility of new business models based on data-driven solutions, various electricity consumption time series are necessary at this level of aggregation. Since these are currently not yet available in sufficient quality and quantity, and due to data privacy reasons, synthetic time series are essential in the strategic planning of smart grid energy systems. By enabling the simulation of diverse scenarios, they facilitate the integration of new technologies and the development of effective demand response strategies. Moreover, they provide valuable data for assessing novel load forecasting methodologies that are essential to manage energy efficiently and to ensure grid stability. Therefore, this research proposes a methodology to synthesize electricity consumption time series by applying the Box–Jenkins method, an intelligent sampling technique for data augmentation and a probabilistic forecast model. This novel approach emulates the stochastic nature of electricity consumption time series and synthesizes realistic ones of Renewable Energy Communities concerning seasonal as well as short-term variations and stochasticity. Comparing autocorrelations, distributions of values, and principle components of daily sequences between real and synthetic time series, the results exhibit nearly identical characteristics to the original data and, thus, are usable in designing and studying efficient smart grid systems. The digitization of distribution power systems has revolutionized the way data are collected and analyzed. In this paper, the critical task of harnessing this information to identify irregularities and anomalies in electricity consumption is tackled. The focus is on detecting non-technical losses (NTLs) and energy theft within distribution networks. A comprehensive overview of the methodologies employed to uncover NTLs and energy theft is presented, leveraging measurements of electricity consumption. The most common scenarios and prevalent cases of anomalies and theft among consumers are identified. Additionally, statistical indicators tailored to specific anomalies are proposed. In this research paper, the practical implementation of numerous artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, including the artificial neural network (ANN), ANFIS, autoencoder neural network, and K-mean clustering, is highlighted. These algorithms play a central role in our research, and our primary objective is to showcase their effectiveness in identifying NTLs. Real-world data sourced directly from distribution networks are utilized. Additionally, we carefully assess how well statistical methods work and compare them to AI techniques by testing them with real data. The artificial neural network (ANN) accurately identifies various consumer types, exhibiting a frequency error of 7.62%. In contrast, the K-means algorithm shows a slightly higher frequency error of 9.26%, while the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) fails to detect the initial anomaly type, resulting in a frequency error of 11.11%. Our research suggests that AI can make finding irregularities in electricity consumption even more effective. As global temperatures rise as a result of climate change, there is an urgent need to find ways to keep buildings cool without increasing energy demand, especially in the residential sector. This is especially true in hot climate regions, where demand for air-conditioning drives high household electricity consumption rates, and, in some cases, overburdens the energy supply. This study evaluates the impact of thermal insulation type, thickness, and location on reducing the annual energy consumption in a representative low-rise residential building in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, using the DesignBuilder energy simulation tool. The most effective materials and locations are identified, and the life cycle cost model is used to establish the optimum thickness in each location. Reductions in energy demand, CO2 emissions, and cost savings are also calculated, and these are shown to exceed those made by applying current Saudi building standards. The findings reveal that applying the optimal thickness of thermal insulation to the walls and roof of a two-storey villa significantly enhances its thermal performance and reduces total costs, cutting overall energy consumption, and carbon emissions by up to 42.5% compared with the base case model, with a cost savings of 33% over 30 years, life cycle savings of 86.1 USD/m2, and a payback period of 7.98 years. This study demonstrates the positive impacts of thermal insulation from both an environmental and an economic perspective, with the aim of increasing its application. Its findings are immediately applicable in other hot-arid regions, notably other Gulf states, and its focus on the importance of ensuring that building regulations that mandate thermal insulation are properly enforced gives it wider relevance in other climate regions. Floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems have generated much interest in the literature, due to the potential synergies with existing hydropower reservoirs. This is of particular relevance to Aotearoa New Zealand, where the national grid's heavy reliance on hydro resources has left the country prone to energy shortages during dry years. This paper investigates the potential implications of a 1-gigawatt peak fleet of distributed FPV systems on seven hydro schemes around the country. The results show that an FPV fleet in Aotearoa New Zealand could provide additional electricity generation when the controlled hydropower storage is low. Here, a novel tri‐level energy market model aimed at addressing the challenges posed by demand side management (DSM) in the electricity distribution company (EDC) is introduced. DSM has emerged as a new strategy employed by EDCs to manage and control electricity demand by encouraging end‐users to modify their electricity consumption patterns. This is achieved through the participation of demand response (DR) aggregators, which play a crucial role in assisting end‐users with strategies and technologies to reduce their electricity consumption during peak hours. The proposed tri‐level energy market model consists of four distinct players: EDC, microgrids, aggregators, customers. The interactions between these four actors are modelled within a tri‐level game framework, where the EDC and aggregators act as leaders, and the micro‐grids and customers are followers. This multi‐level and multi‐player game structure allows for a more realistic representation of the complexities involved in DSM programs within the energy market. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model, a real case study is utilized, showing that the new model better resembles real‐life market conditions. The results illustrate how the tri‐level energy market model can significantly reduce demand fluctuations during peak hours, leading to improved efficiency and effectiveness within DSM programs. Decarbonising the energy system requires high shares of variable renewable generation and sector coupling like power to heat. In addition to heat supply, heat pumps can be used in future energy systems to provide flexibility to the electricity system by using the thermal storage potential of the building stock and buffer tanks to shift electricity demand to hours of high renewable electricity production. Bridging the gap between two methodological approaches, we coupled a detailed building technology operation model and the open-source energy system model Balmorel to evaluate the flexibility potential that decentral heat pumps can provide to the electricity system. Austria in the year 2030 serves as an example of a 100% renewable-based electricity system (at an annual national balance). Results show that system benefits from heat pump flexibility are relatively limited in extent and concentrated on short-term flexibility. Flexible heat pumps reduce system cost, CO2 emissions, and photovoltaics and wind curtailment in all scenarios. The amount of electricity shifted in the assessed standard flexibility scenario is 194 GWhel and accounts for about 20% of the available flexible heat pump electricity demand. A comparison of different modelling approaches and a deterministic sensitivity analysis of key input parameters complement the modelling. The most important input parameters impacting heat pump flexibility are the flexible capacity (determined by installed capacity and share of control), shifting time limitations, and cost assumptions for the flexibility provided. Heat pump flexibility contributes more to increasing low residual loads (up to 22% in the assessed scenarios) than decreasing residual load peaks. The electrical energy expenditure of households in Turkey has been increasing over the years, and households account for one-fifth of the overall electrical energy consumption. For this reason, it is of vital importance to determine the factors that affect household electricity expenditure, reveal consumption patterns for different consumer groups, and propose suggestions for the efficient use of electrical energy. In the present study, determinants of household electricity expenditure were analyzed with the quantile regression approach using the Household Budget Survey published by the Turkish Statistical Institute. In conclusion, it was determined that demographic, economic, and residential factors had significant effects on the electricity expenditures of households. The present study will serve as a guide for policymakers and decision-makers in developing strategies and conducting studies toward reducing the electricity expenditures of households, which is an important factor for energy usage. Electrocatalytic hydrogenations (ECH) enable the reduction of organic substrates upon usage of electric current and present a sustainable alternative to conventional processes if green electricity is used. Opposed to most current protocols for electrode preparation, this work presents a one‐step binder‐ and additive‐free production of silver‐ and copper‐electroplated electrodes. Controlled adjustment of the preparation parameters allows for the tuning of catalyst morphology and its electrochemical properties. Upon optimization of the deposition protocol and carbon support, high faradaic efficiencies of 93 % for the ECH of the Vitamin A‐ and E‐synthon 2‐methyl‐3‐butyn‐2‐ol (MBY) are achieved that can be maintained at current densities of 240 mA cm−2 and minimal catalyst loadings of 0.2 mg cm−2, corresponding to an unmatched production rate of 1.47 kgMBE gcat−1 h−1. For a continuous hydrogenation process, the protocol can be directly transferred into a single‐pass operation mode giving a production rate of 1.38 kgMBE gcat−1 h−1. Subsequently, the substrate spectrum was extended to a total of 17 different C−C−, C−O− and N−O−unsaturated compounds revealing the general applicability of the reported process. Our results lay an important groundwork for the development of electrochemical reactors and electrodes able to directly compete with the palladium‐based thermocatalytic state of the art. Developing an inexpensive and efficient electrocatalyst can significantly decrease the electric power consumption during electrochemical water decomposition. However, oxygen evolution reaction (OER) contains complicated four electron transport and slow transport kinetics, which limits the process of water decomposition. The wet-chemical etching method provides a more cost-effective and energy-efficient alternative compared to other techniques. Herein, a self-supported NiFe layered double hydroxide (NiFe- LDH) nanosheets are constructed using an easy wet-chemical method where nickel foam (NF) as matrix and nickel source, and then coupled with iron oxyhydroxide (FeOOH) to obtain NiFe-LDH@FeOOH heterostructures catalyst for OER process. Owing to its superhydrophilic self-supported lamellar structure and the electronic interactions between Ni and Fe caused by strong interface interactions between NiFe- LDH and FeOOH, the NiFe-LDH@FeOOH hybrid electrocatalyst reveals excellent OER catalytic performance. It requires 245 and 259 mV to achieve large current densities of 100 and 300 mA cm-2, respectively. Moreover, a home-made electrolyzer consisting of NiFe-LDH@FeOOH (anodic) and commercial Pt/C (cathodic) displays superior overall water electrolysis performance, requiring 1.565 V to attain 100 mA cm-2 and stable operation for 120 h, demonstrating the potential for industrial applications. The NiFe-LDH@FeOOH catalyst was assembled as an anode and Pt/C as a cathode into a two-electrode system (named Pt/C || NiFe-LDH@FeOOH), which only requires cell voltages of 1.565 and 1.646 V to achieve high current densities of 100 and 300 mA cm-2, much superior to the Pt/C || RuO 2 electrolytic cell (1.849 V@100 mA cm-2, 1.912 V@300 mA cm-2), demonstrating its great potential for practical applications. The existence of chaos is particularly relevant, as the identification of a chaotic behavior in a time series could lead to reliable short-term forecasting. This paper evaluates the existence of nonlinearity and chaos in the underlying process of the spot prices of the Spanish electricity market. To this end, we used daily data spanning from 1 January 2013, to 31 March 2021 and we applied a comprehensive framework that encompassed a wide range of techniques. Nonlinearity was analyzed using the BDS method, while the existence of a chaotic structure was studied through Lyapunov exponents, recurrence plots, and quantitative recurrence analysis. While nonlinearity was detected in the underlying process, conclusive evidence supporting chaos was not found. In addition, the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic (GARCH) model accounts for part of the nonlinear structure that is unveiled in the electricity market. Background and aims: As a part of the framework of the EU-funded Energy efficiency through Behavior CHANge Transition (ENCHANT) project, the present paper intends to provide a "Research Protocol" of a web-based trial to: (i) assess the effectiveness of behavioral intervention strategies––either single or in combination––on electricity saving, and (ii) unravel the psychological factors contributing to intervention effectiveness in households across Europe. Methods and materials: Six distinct interventions (i.e., information provision, collective vs. individual message framing, social norms, consumption feedback, competitive elements, and commitment strategies) targeting electricity saving in households from six European countries (i.e., Austria, Germany, Italy, Norway, Romania, and Türkiye) are evaluated, with an initial expected samples of about 1500 households per country randomly assigned to 12 intervention groups and two control groups, and data is collected through an ad-hoc online platform. The primary outcome is the weekly electricity consumption normalized to the last seven days before measurement per person per household. Secondary outcomes are the peak consumption during the last day before measurement and the self-reported implementation of electricity saving behaviors (e.g., deicing the refrigerator). The underlying psychological factors expected to mediate and/or moderate the intervention effects on these outcomes are intentions to save electricity, perceived difficulty of saving energy, attitudes to electricity saving, electricity saving habit strength, social norms to save electricity, personal norms, collective efficacy, emotional reaction to electricity consumption, and national identity. The intervention effectiveness will be evaluated by comparing psychological factors and consumption variables before and after the intervention, leading to a 14 (groups including 2 control groups) × 6 (time) mixed factorial design, with one factor between (group) and one factor within subjects (time)–6 measurements of the psychological factors and 6 readings of the electricity meters, which gives then 5 weeks of electricity consumption. Results: Data collection for the present RCT started in January 2023, and by October 2023 data collection will conclude. Discussion: Upon establishing feasibility and effectiveness, the outcomes of this study will assist policymakers, municipalities, NGOs, and other communal entities in identifying impactful interventions tailored to their unique circumstances and available resources. This paper addresses the optimization of contracted electricity demand (CD) for commercial and industrial entities, focusing on cost reduction within the Brazilian time-of-use electricity tariff scheme. Leveraging genetic algorithms (GAs), this study proposes a practical approach to determining the optimal CD profile, considering the complex dynamics of energy demand on a city-like load. The establishment of near-autonomous micro-grids in commercial or public building complexes is gaining increasing popularity. Short-term storage capacity is provided by means of large battery installations, or, more often, by the employees' increasing use of electric vehicle batteries, which are allowed to operate in bi-directional charging mode. In addition to the above short-term storage means, a long-term storage medium is considered essential to the optimal operation of the building's micro-grid. The most promising long-term energy storage carrier is hydrogen, which is produced by standard electrolyzer units by exploiting the surplus electricity produced by photovoltaic installation, due to the seasonal or weekly variation in a building's electricity consumption. To this end, a novel concept is studied in this paper. The details of the proposed concept are described in the context of a nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) and the associated micro-grid. The hydrogen produced is stored in a high-pressure tank to be used occasionally as fuel in an advanced technology hydrogen spark ignition engine, which moves a synchronous generator. A size optimization study is carried out to determine the genset's rating, the electrolyzer units' capacity and the tilt angle of the rooftop's photovoltaic panels, which minimize the building's interaction with the external grid. The hydrogen-fueled genset engine is optimally sized to 40 kW (0.18 kW/kWp PV). The optimal tilt angle of the rooftop PV panels is 39°. The maximum capacity of the electrolyzer units is optimized to 72 kW (0.33 kWmax/kWp PV). The resulting system is tacitly assumed to integrate to an external hydrogen network to make up for the expected mismatches between hydrogen production and consumption. The significance of technology in addressing the current challenges in the field of energy storage and micro-grid optimization is discussed, with an emphasis on its potential benefits. This paper offers a theoretical and experimental examination of the concurrent production of electricity and heat using photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) technology. The efficiency performance of the PV/T system is meticulously analyzed using MATLAB/Simulink software environments. Notably, the proposed PV/T system shows reliable performance, and its validity is confirmed through experimental validation on a test stand with a single PV/T panel positioned at a 45-degree angle to the horizontal and a 0-degree azimuth angle. The measurements were conducted during the summer season, and two models were suggested to calculate the overall efficiency of the PV/T system. The variance between the results obtained from the two models was minimal, below 5%. Over the past few years as COVID-19 was declared a worldwide pandemic that resulted in load changes and an increase in residential loads, utilities have faced increasing challenges in maintaining load balance. Because out-of-home activities were limited, daily residential electricity consumption increased by about 12–30% with variable peak hours. In addition, battery energy storage systems (BESSs) became more affordable, and thus higher storage system adoption rates were witnessed. This variation created uncertainties for electric grid operators. The objective of this research is to study the optimal operation of residential battery storage systems to maximize utility benefits. This is accomplished by formulating an objective function to minimize distribution and generation losses, generation fuel prices, market fuel prices, generation at peak time, and battery operation cost and to maximize battery capacity. A mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) method has been developed and implemented for these purposes. A residential utility circuit has been selected for a case study. The circuit includes 315 buses and 100 battery energy storage systems without the connection of other distributed energy resources (DERs), e.g., photovoltaic and wind. Assuming that the batteries are charging overnight, the results show that energy costs can be reduced by 10% and losses can decrease by 17% by optimally operating batteries to support increased load demand. Over time, several relationships have been defined between electricity consumption and a region's social and economic variables, with income as the main factor. This paper uses multiple correspondence analysis to identify the categories of dwellings and, from a graphical point of view (positioning maps), the effects of the different characteristics that influence the electricity consumption of households in rural areas of Cundinamarca, Colombia. In this analysis, the consumption of residential users responded mainly to what they can afford or acquire based on their income, consumption habits, and the characteristics of the technology. Furthermore, this study highlights the implications of these findings for policymakers and energy providers, providing valuable insights for developing targeted strategies to promote energy efficiency and sustainability in rural areas. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of window films on indoor environmental conditions and electricity consumption of air conditioning. The research focused on the performance of different window films (HAG, RG), taking into account variations from different building orientations. The findings of this research indicated that building orientation could significantly influence the duration of direct sunlight entering the interior, with the areas closer to the glass being more susceptible to the effects of outdoor temperature and solar radiation. The clear glass with heat-absorbing film (HAG) and reflective film (RG) both reduced the indoor temperature and indoor illuminance while increasing indoor comfort. The RG could accumulate less heat on the glass surface compared with the HAG. The glass temperature of the RG will be lower than the HAG. The electricity-saving ratios of the HAG were 1.4%, 1.9%, 1.4%, and 1.2%, respectively, when facing the east, south, west, and northwest orientations compared with the clear glass (OG). Electricity is an essential energy resource in the industrial, commercial and housing sector, having a very important role in the development of societies. Urbanization and industrialization implies a great demand of energy for developing economies. In the search to be able to know how much electrical energy is consumed, a modeling of the electrical energy demand is carried out. However, the inherent intricacy and nonlinear nature of electricity consumption patterns present a significant obstacle to achieve precise modeling. In this article, a chaos theory approach is carried out to analyze the behavior of the system and to obtain properties of its dynamic system. A network consisting of a convolutional part, a hidden part and an output part is proposed. Convolutional operations are employed for dimensionality reduction in transformed data sets by reconstruction of the phase space. A radial basis function neural is used in the hidden part. The dynamic analysis approach using chaos theory, and the proposed neural network is compared with the radial basis function neural network for the modeling of electrical energy consumption. Based on a discrete choice experiment with 582 households in Switzerland, we find, that about 30% of the customers focus on price risks (cost focus) when they choose an electricity tariff, while 70% of the customers are more worried about volume risks (comfort focus). Customers with a cost focus, prefer contracts with low price risks and automatic load control, even when these contracts increased their volume risks and may lead to discomfort, while customers with a comfort focus are unlikely to choose a contract that exposes them to either price or volume risks. All customers prefer direct load control of individual appliances to capacity subscriptions or other demand response approaches which limit their total electricity demand. While customers with a cost focus likely accept direct load control even if this reduces their comfort, enrolling customers with a comfort focus will require further efforts and contracts avoiding comfort loss. In the ever-evolving landscape of technology and industry, there's a growing awareness of the need for environmentally friendly solutions. This survey marks a pioneering investigation into utilizing eco-environmentally friendly organic mixtures within indirectly integrated heat pump-driven humidification-dehumidification desalination systems. Its primary objective is to determine the most effective approach for enhancing the performance of the integrated cycles: employing organic blends or implementing structural modifications. The proposed layouts for distilled water production are structured around two distinct scenarios: the first scenario involves a basic heat pump, and the second incorporates a vapor injection heat pump. To scrutinize the devised systems' performance, an exergoeconomic analysis is performed, taking into account a meticulous heat exchanger modeling approach. In addition, extensive sensitivity analysis and NSGA.II optimization are conducted based on the most efficient mixture in terms of electricity consumption at a consistent feed-water flow rate. The findings highlight a notable enhancement in the efficiency of the two developed systems when organic blends are employed instead of pure working fluids, resulting in a substantial reduction in electricity consumption. Specifically, replacing R134a with R22/R142b increased the Gain-Output-Ratio (GOR) by 42.26% for the first scenario and 29.06% for the second scenario. As a result of the cost assessment, distilled water unit costs have decreased by 12.87% and 14.32%, respectively, for the first and second scenarios. Notably, using a ternary blend slightly enhances the performance of the proposed systems compared to when a binary blend is employed. Specifically, the highest Gain-Output-Ratio (GOR) of 12.28 was achieved for the second scenario when using R142b/R22/R236fa, representing a modest 3.2% increase compared to the case where R22/R142b was utilized. Furthermore, optimizing the first and second scenarios and utilizing R22/R142 leads to an improvement of 7.31% and 12.55% in exergetic efficiency and 7.36% and 16.21% in UCDW, respectively. Ultimately, it is evident that incorporating eco-environmentally friendly organic blends in the simple heat pump, alongside their minimal ecological footprint and their role in promoting sustainability and adhering to environmental mandates, stands out as a remarkably efficient choice. In fact, the GOR of the first scenario is approximately 27.66% higher when using R142b/R22/R236fa compared to the second scenario employing a pure working fluid. Background: Due to rapid progress in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning, the power grids are transforming into Smart Grids (SG) which are versatile, reliable, intelligent and stable. The power consumption of the energy users is varying throughout the day as well as in different days of the week. Power consumption forecasting is of vital importance for the sustainable management and operation of SG. Methodology: In this work, the aim is to apply clustering for dividing a smart residential community into several group of similar profile energy user, which will be effective for developing and training representative deep neural network (DNN) models for power load forecasting of users in respective groups. The DNN models is composed of convolutional neural network (CNN) followed by LSTM layers for feature extraction and sequence learning respectively. The DNN For experimentation, the Smart Grid Smart City (SGSC) project database is used and its energy users are grouped into various clusters. Results: The residential community is divided into four groups of customers based on the chosen criterion where Group 1, 2, 3 and 4 contains 14 percent, 22 percent, 19 percent and 45 percent users respectively. Almost half of the population (45 percent) of the considered residential community exhibits less than 23 outliers in their electricity consumption patterns. The rest of the population is divided into three groups, where specialized deep learning models developed and trained for respective groups are able to achieve higher forecasting accuracy. The results of our proposed approach will assist researchers and utility companies by requiring fewer specialized deep-learning models for accurate forecasting of users who belong to various groups of similar-profile energy consumption. In the context of this research, understanding the reliability of a power generator is essential as a criterion for assessing its suitability for use or the need for further development. The method used in this study is reliability analysis, known as "Expected Energy Not Supplied (EENS)." The initial step of this method is to calculate the FOR (Forced Outage Rate) to determine the level of disturbances in the generator unit. The subsequent process involves calculating individual probabilities, analyzing the generator load curve, determining the EENS values of three generators, and comparing them with the EENS standards established by the National Electricity Market. These standards stipulate that EENS should not exceed 0.002% of the total energy consumption in the region. This research marks a significant milestone as the first endeavour conducted on Lombok Island within this specific context. The study was conducted by analyzing three operational Micro-Hydro Power (MHP) units on Lombok Island. The research findings indicate that the EENS metric for MHP on Lombok Island stands at 2.822%. This result suggests that the reliability of MHP on Lombok Island falls below the established criterion, which is less than 0.002% annually. In practical terms, these findings imply that MHP plants located on Lombok Island may not be relied upon as the primary source to meet the electricity demands of the Lombok region in 2022. This research provides valuable insights into the challenges of energy reliability on Lombok Island and serves as a crucial foundation for further considerations in the development of renewable energy sources in the region. In this study, a prototype was developed for the effective utilisation of a domestic solar power plant. The basic idea is to switch on certain electrical appliances when the surplus of generated energy is predicted one hour in advance, for example, switching on a pump motor for watering a garden. This prediction is important because some devices (motors) wear out if they are switched on and off too frequently. If a solar power plant generates more energy than a household can consume, the surplus energy is fed into the main grid for storage. If a household has an energy shortage, the same energy is bought back at a higher price. In this study, data were collected from solar inverters, historical weather APIs and smart energy meters. This study describes the data preparation process and feature engineering that will later be used to create forecasting models. This study consists of two forecasting models: solar energy generation and household electricity consumption. Both types of model were tested using Facebook Prophet and different neural network architectures: feedforward, long short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU) networks. This paper investigates the microclimate in a conference room with thermal stratification, taking as a case study the chapel of Villa San Saverio, now the seat of the "Scuola Superiore" of the University of Catania (Italy). Surveys of the former chapel were conducted to monitor air temperature and relative humidity. Subsequently, the investigation relied on numerical simulations of a simplified computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model built with the DesignBuilder v7.0 software and validated by comparison with measured values. Simulations were then carried out considering three different scenarios: the current state without any HVAC system and two possible HVAC system configurations providing both air conditioning and ventilation. The results show that, from a comfort perspective, a lightweight radiant floor heating system, assisted by an appropriate ventilation system for air renewal placed at the floor level near the occupants, is preferable to floor-level fan coils and high ventilation channels. Furthermore, this was also confirmed by a preliminary energy analysis of the two HVAC options, where the ventilation effectiveness of the winter period, the temperature of the water the emitters are fed, the consequent COP value of the heat pump, and the electricity consumption were taken into consideration. The growing demand for electricity, driven by factors such as the shift to carbon neutrality and economic growth, is a challenge shared by South Korea and Japan. South Korea, a peninsula nation, and Japan, an island country, which are both heavily dependent on foreign energy sources and have manufacturing-based industrial structures, are actively working to secure stable power supplies for their economic development. This article carries out a quantitative analysis of the roles of the South Korean and Japanese electric power sectors (EPSs) in their respective economies, seeking to identify differences and generate actionable insights for decision making and policy formulation. Utilizing the input–output (IO) technique with the latest available data, the analysis includes a demand-side model, a supply-side model, and a price-side model to examine various effects of the EPSs. The key findings reveal differences in the production-inducing, value-added creation, and job-creation effects between the two countries, highlighting operational disparities in their electricity sectors. Additionally, South Korea exhibits higher wage-inducing, supply shortage, and price-side effects than Japan, because of its public enterprise-oriented high-wage structure and a substantial manufacturing sector. These quantitative results provide valuable reference material for future government decisions and policy development in the EPS and emphasize the significant role and impact of the power sector in both countries. The decarbonization of air mobility requires the decarbonization of its energy. While biofuels will play an important role, other low-carbon energy carriers based on electricity are considered, such as battery electrification and liquid hydrogen (LH2) or eFuel, a hydrogen-based energy carrier. Each energy carrier has its own conversion steps and losses and its own integration effects with aircraft. These combinations lead to different energy requirements and must be understood in order to compare their cost and CO2 emissions. Since they are all electricity-based, this study compares these energy carriers using the well-to-rotor methodology when applied to a standard vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) air mobility mission. This novel approach allows one to understand that the choice of energy carrier dictates the propulsive system architecture, leading to integration effects with aircraft, which can significantly change the energy required for the same mission, increasing it from 400 to 2665 kWh. These deviations led to significant differences in CO2 emissions and costs. Battery electrification is impacted by battery manufacturing but has the lowest electricity consumption. This is an optimum solution, but only until the battery weight can be lifted. In all scenarios, eFuel is more efficient than LH2. We conclude that using the most efficient molecule in an aircraft can compensate for the extra energy cost spent on the ground. Finally, we found that, for each of these energy carriers, it is the electricity carbon intensity and price which will dictate the cost and CO2 emissions of an air mobility mission. To support increasing renewable capacity for a net-zero future, energy storage will play a key role in maintaining grid stability. In this paper, all current and near-future energy storage technologies are compared for three different scenarios: (1) fixed electricity buy-in price, (2) market-based electricity buy-in price, and (3) energy storage integrated into a fully renewable electricity system. In the first part of this study, an algorithm is devised to simulate strategic buy-in of electricity for energy storage. This analysis yields a qualitative decision-making tool for a given energy storage duration and size. Building upon the first part's findings, an integration study gives insight into expected power prices and expected storage size in a typical northwestern European fully renewable energy system. The integration study shows significant need for electricity storage with durations spanning from one to several days, typically around 40 h. Pumped Hydro Storage and Pumped Thermal storage surface as the best options. The overall levelized costs of storage are expected to be in the USD 200–500/MWh range. Integration of storage with renewables can yield a system-levelized cost of electricity of about USD 150/MWh. Allowing flexibility in demand may lower the overall system-levelized cost of electricity to USD 100/MWh. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the quest for achieving decarbonisation, it is essential for different sectors of the economy to collaborate and invest significantly. This study presents an innovative approach that merges technological insights with philosophical considerations at a national scale, with the intention of shaping the national policy and practice. The aim of this research is to assist in formulating decarbonisation strategies for intricate economies. Libya, a major oil exporter that can diversify its energy revenue sources, is used as the case study. However, the principles can be applied to develop decarbonisation strategies across the globe. The decarbonisation framework evaluated in this study encompasses wind-based renewable electricity, hydrogen, and gas turbine combined cycles. A comprehensive set of both official and unofficial national data was assembled, integrated, and analysed to conduct this study. The developed analytical model considers a variety of factors, including consumption in different sectors, geographical data, weather patterns, wind potential, and consumption trends, amongst others. When gaps and inconsistencies were encountered, reasonable assumptions and projections were used to bridge them. This model is seen as a valuable foundation for developing replacement scenarios that can realistically guide production and user engagement towards decarbonisation. The aim of this model is to maintain the advantages of the current energy consumption level, assuming a 2% growth rate, and to assess changes in energy consumption in a fully green economy. While some level of speculation is present in the results, important qualitative and quantitative insights emerge, with the key takeaway being the use of hydrogen and the anticipated considerable increase in electricity demand. Two scenarios were evaluated: achieving energy self-sufficiency and replacing current oil exports with hydrogen exports on an energy content basis. This study offers, for the first time, a quantitative perspective on the wind-based infrastructure needs resulting from the evaluation of the two scenarios. In the first scenario, energy requirements were based on replacing fossil fuels with renewable sources. In contrast, the second scenario included maintaining energy exports at levels like the past, substituting oil with hydrogen. The findings clearly demonstrate that this transition will demand great changes and substantial investments. The primary requirements identified are 20,529 or 34,199 km2 of land for wind turbine installations (for self-sufficiency and exports), and 44 single-shaft 600 MW combined-cycle hydrogen-fired gas turbines. The proposed approach involves a method of joint optimization configuration for wind–solar–thermal-storage (WSTS) power energy bases utilizing a dynamic inertia weight chaotic particle swarm optimization (DIWCPSO) algorithm. The power generated from the combination of wind and solar energy is analyzed quantitatively by using the average complementarity index (ACI) to determine the optimal ratio of wind and solar installations. We constructed a multi-objective optimization configuration model for the WSTS power generation systems, considering the equivalent annual income and the optimal energy consumption level as objective functions of the system. We solved the model using the chaotic particle swarm optimization algorithm with linearly decreasing dynamic inertia weight. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, we conducted a simulation using the 2030 power energy base planning data of a particular region in Inner Mongolia. The results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly improves the annual income, enhances the consumption of wind–solar energy, and boosts the power transmission capacity of the system. This is a study of Norway's sustainable environment development amidst the interactions of natural resources, external investment (FDI) and economic development. Much has been done with respect to the study of Norway's economic performance in relation to the link between the natural resources and FDI with little emphasis on the environmental performance of the resource‐based economy. Also, Norway is classified as among the top countries in Europe with a greater percentage of adopting renewable energy, and no study has done a critical review of the impact of natural resources and FDI which are part of drivers of carbon emission that can counter the positive impact of renewable energy towards the Norway's sustainable environment. On this basis, this study adopts a time series data of Norway, 1970 to 2018 to study its environmental performance. Approaches such as structural break analysis, Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL)‐bound testing and Granger causality estimations are utilised in this study for in‐depth analysis of the subject. Findings from ARDL confirmed a positive association between fuels and carbon emission, other indicators (economic growth and natural resources) are improving the quality of the country's environment. FDI even though shows positive sign remains insignificant in impacting the environmental performance in the short run reverted to a significant negative relationship with carbon emissions. This confirms the pollution halo hypothesis and rejects the pollution haven hypothesis (PHH) for Norway, and this trend can be sustained with the constant implementation of environmental rules in the country. Granger test confirms, a one‐way transition from fossil fuels to carbon emission, from carbon emission to growth, and from economic growth to fossil fuels. Also, a two‐way transmission is found between fossil fuels and FDI. These findings from Granger causality are consistent with the findings from ARDL, hence, two ways interactions between FDI and fossil fuel energy source consumption from Granger causality and the two variables (fossil fuels and FDI) are seen impacting on Norway's environmental performance. Findings from the estimates suggest that natural resources and FDI are mitigating pollution, hence, Norway's policy is expected to be resources and FDI driven in sustainable environment development. In a post-pandemic context, everyday life, technology and media have become increasingly focused in the home. This has implications for how people will live with automated and smart technologies in possible futures, for electricity demand, transition to net zero emissions and ultimately planetary health. Here, we explore these unfolding circumstances through the prism of notifications, and their capacity to mediate uncertainties while enabling people to engage in anticipatory modes of home organisation which ensure their physical comfort and produce a sense of ontological security in pandemic and climate crisis situations. In possible futures, the notification may vary from its current characteristics, but would enable people to engage with everyday automated technologies and systems in ways that acknowledge values of place, safety and care. There is a large agreement in declaring that electrochemistry is one of the most difficult curricular domains to teach and learn. Applied or Industrial Electrochemistry is even less frequently found in Chemical Engineering curricula. The extremely few textbooks on Applied Electrochemistry put most of the effort in developing theoretical content while leaving for later learning stages the specific examples. Our proposal is about how to start an Industrial Electrochemistry course in order to make students enthusiastic while engaging them in the learning process. Production of a strategic metal is chosen as a case study to help students understand the importance of electrolytic production. A specific production facility in our country is chosen and students are asked to calculate the electricity consumption of the electrolysis with minimal input. An inquiry-based learning strategy is developed where students are constantly asked to find information online in non-academic websites about different variables that will make them realize how electrolytic production is an energy-intensive industrial activity. The need to understand the origin of the enormous electricity costs helps to advance in lecturing the specificities of the Hall-Héroult process, while more fundamental general electrochemistry concepts are introduced, always in relation to the specific case study under consideration. Side topics that can be brought up in connection with this specific case study, such as process improvement and process design are introduced. To improve the multiscale dynamic dispatching and distribution capacity of regional integrated energy, a multiscale dynamic time‐domain dispatching model of regional integrated energy with seasonal load difference is proposed. The master–slave game coordination planning model of regional comprehensive energy multiscale dispatching is constructed, and the difference fusion model of regional comprehensive energy multiscale dynamic dispatching is established by using the active and reactive power coordination control method according to the influence factors of voltage deviation and line overload absorption. Maximize the weight factors of the positive contribution of distributed photovoltaic (PV) power to the active distribution network. On the basis of the quantitative regulation analysis method of demand response power based on the equivalent slope of the load curve, establish an energy absorption capacity analysis model of seasonal load differentiation. On the basis of the dynamic interaction between different systems, a multiscale dynamic time‐domain analysis and dynamic simulation model of regional integrated energy is constructed by using the method of PV absorptive capacity assessment on both sides of demand uncertainty, to achieve multiscale dynamic time‐domain feature extraction of integrated energy and integrated scheduling of seasonal load differences. The simulation results show that the multiscale dynamic time‐domain allocation of regional comprehensive energy using this method improves the energy dispatching and balanced allocation capability, and the time‐domain dynamic allocation capability is good. Considering the terminal load demand and the electricity price demand formulated by the distribution network investment operators, the seasonal load response and comprehensive dispatching capability are improved.
