Despite having worked in higher education for over twenty years, I am still, first and foremost, a practicing nurse. My employer requires me to be a nurse and my regulator regards what I do as nursing. My practice is regulated by the Code and informed by nursing ethics. If I am nurse, practicing nursing, does that mean that my students are my patients? This paper considers how the relationship that I have with my students can be informed by the ethics of the nurse/patient relationship. After some initial theoretical preparation concerning argument from analogy, the paper identifies some areas for comparison between the two relationships. Areas of similarity and difference identify two areas of concern: Nurse education and educators regularly engage in coercion and surveillance in an attempt to increase student success, both of which would be considered outside nursing ethics. It is concluded that these coercive practices are not conducive to an environment where character is cultivated. Despite current financial and workforce pressures, nurse lecturers and more especially their managers would do well to return to the professional ethics of nursing to question and guide their practice. Background: AI can positively influence teaching by offering support for classroom management, creating inclusive learning environments, enhancing digital skills, personalizing teaching methods, and strengthening teacher‐student relationships. Objectives: This quantitative research study investigates the opportunities, difficulties, and consequences of incorporating AI into teacher education. Methods: Data were collected through structured questionnaires from 202 college students and 68 staff members. The analysis was conducted using SPSS software. Results: The study provides a novel contribution by its thorough investigation of the diverse effects of AI on teacher education. It offers beneficial perspectives on the possible benefits and challenges, illuminating the far‐reaching changes that AI could bring to the terrain of learning and instruction and teaching methods in the time yet to come. The research sought to assess the effect of AI adoption in teacher education across five main dimensions: (i) its influence on teaching support and classroom management, (ii) its role in creating inclusive and accessible learning environments, (iii) its contribution to improving teachers' digital literacy and computer skills, and enhancing access to digital teaching resources, (iv) its positive influence on identifying students' learning styles and facilitating the adoption of diverse teaching methods, and (v) its role in strengthening teacher‐student relationships through improved interactions. Conclusion: The findings elucidate the promising opportunities that AI presents in the field of teacher education, along with the obstacles that require resolution for the effective fusion of AI educational settings. Background: This research paper presents a cross‐sectional study that examinefs the preferences of students for hybrid teaching and learning scenarios. Unlike previous studies that merely describe hybrid scenarios, this research prioritizes them, offering evidence‐based findings for informed policy decisions. Methods: The data collection method involved eight choice‐based tasks using the conjoint analysis technique conducted with 'Sawtooth' software. The study surveyed students at a mid‐sized university across four departments in Central Switzerland. The sample analysed in this article comprised 319 respondents from the Lucerne School of Business. Results and Conclusions: Our survey found that students' own location during a teaching session played a significant role in determining participation preferences, followed by that of the lecturer. Factors that influenced students' preferences whether to attend onsite or online include workload, didactical format, perceived level of difficulty, student residence, and semester. Forms of hybrid collaboration and student–student interaction did not significantly influence student preferences. Takeaways: The value of this study lies in its evidence‐based findings for specific hybrid scenarios, which can provide useful insights for policymakers in degree programs and faculty in hybrid classrooms. This study is one of only a few to use conjoint analysis with such a high respondent rate to determine student preferences for hybrid attendance. Background: Collaborative learning can effectively promote the development of higher‐order competencies, where learners collaborate via social interactions to explore and solve complex problems. It has been found that the effective occurrence of collaborative learning requires appropriate external guidance and support. In particular, collaborative interactions in open learning environments are more complex and difficult, which makes it important to provide dynamic interventions for learners according to different collaborative situations. However, the role of facilitators and the characteristics and mechanisms of their interventions have yet to be thoroughly investigated. Objectives: The study aims to uncover the characteristics and patterns of interaction among groups with different collaborative performance and facilitator performance in an open learning environment, and to explore the differentiated role of facilitators in this process. Method: Groups are categorised as high or low based on their collaborative performance and facilitator performance. This study used lag sequential analysis (LSA) and content analysis to explore the interaction patterns of groups with different collaborative performance and facilitator performance. Also, the different roles of facilitators were analysed by comparing the differences in interaction patterns of different collaborative performance groups. Results: The study found that groups with different collaborative performances and facilitator performances showed significant differences in interaction patterns, and the two had crossover effects. There is also variability in the role of facilitators in groups with different collaborative performance profiles. Patterns of transition between different layers of interaction can indicate the level of groups' collaborative engagement. Specific interaction patterns exist that are conducive to enhancing collaborative learning. Conclusions: The results of the study pointed out that groups with different collaborative performance and facilitator performance showed different characteristics of interaction patterns. The role of the facilitator in online collaborative learning is characterised by compensatory and merit‐promoting. High‐quality online collaboration is the result of multiple factors, including learners and facilitators working together. This study has practical implications for the design of instructional interventions for group collaboration in online learning communities. Strengthening online learning outcomes requires the establishment of strong student-teacher relationships to engage students actively in learning activities. Teacher-student relationships are also pivotal factors for enhancing academic motivation for online learning engagement. Generally, however, research on online teaching remains underdeveloped. We aimed, in this study, to investigate the complex interplay in higher education in Pakistan between teacher-student relationships, academic motivation, and online learning engagement. We used Self-Determination Theory to frame an exploration of the impact of positive teacher-student relationships as mediated by intrinsic or extrinsic academic motivation on students' engagement in online learning activities. We administered a student self-report questionnaire to 437 participants from diverse universities in Sindh province. Using Structural Equation Modeling, we confirmed a model fit in which there were positive correlations between teacher-student relationships and students' online learning engagement; and between students' intrinsic and extrinsic academic motivations and their on line learning engagement. Our findings emphasized the need for communication, personalized support, and a sense of belonging in virtual education. Moreover, our findings revealed the mediating role of students' intrinsic and extrinsic academic motivation in teacher-student relationships, highlighting the nuanced dynamics of academic motivation in the virtual learning environment, with intrinsic motivation having the greatest mediating impact in the relationship between teacher-student relationships and on line learning engagement. Our study's practical implications include a need for professional educators to foster positive teacher-student relationships and integrate student motivational elements into online course design. Background: As educators and schools redouble their efforts to support and graduate a diverse and highly competent student body, there is an urgent need to adopt an academic framework to understand the effects of trauma on student learning, ground equity and justice in nursing education, and underpin policy development. Method: This article explicates the use of equity-centered trauma-informed education practice (TIEP) as a framework for examining, scrutinizing, and eliminating the influences and effects of racism, including explicit, implicit, systematic, and microaggressions, as well as inequitable approaches in practices, pedagogy, and policy. Results: Five key strategies were identified: (1) bias and antiracist work; (2) safety and trust; (3) culturally responsive pedagogy; (4) wellness and balance and (5) community-building. Conclusion: Transforming nursing education requires a paradigm shift, with changes occurring from an individual to a system level. TIEP ensures changes are equity-centered and justice-focused. This study aimed to explore English as a foreign language (EFL) students' classroom relationships (i.e., teacher-student relationships and peer relationships) and understand how these relationships contribute to English language proficiency between boys and girls. This paper discussed and highlighted the mediating role of self-regulated learning (SRL) strategy use. Self-report questionnaires with 436 4th-5th graders were adopted in a Chinese cultural context. Results of MANOVA revealed that there were generally no gender differences in teacher-student relationships and peer relationships. However, girls tended to use more SRL strategies (i.e., metacognitive and social strategies) than boys, while boys reported a higher level of English language proficiency than girls. Importantly, results from Multi-Group Structural Equation Modelling (MGSEM) suggested that the mediation effects of SRL strategy use between classroom relationships and English language proficiency were significantly different between boys and girls. Specifically, while boys' teacher-student relationships predicted their English language proficiency through metacognitive SRL strategy use, girls' English language proficiency was influenced by their peer relationships through the mediation of metacognitive SRL strategy use. Implications for classroom instructions and EFL teachers to promote boys' and girls' English language learning through classroom relationships and SRL strategy use in a Chinese cultural context are discussed. School closures were implemented in the first quarter of 2020 to halt the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic. Without adequate preparation time, students and teachers faced the problem of transitioning from face-to-face to online classes. Educational therapy sessions in the Dyslexia Association of Singapore were affected too. This study sought to explore educational therapists' experiences and perceptions of online teaching and learning with school-going age students with dyslexia in an online environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. To accomplish this, a phenomenological approach was employed using in-depth interview techniques with ten educational therapists from the DAS. A six-stage thematic analysis by Braun and Clark (2006) was employed to determine the themes for this study. The findings revealed four key themes: a) benefits of virtual educational therapy, b) challenges of virtual educational therapy, c) perceived success factors and conditions for an effective virtual educational therapy, and d) after-effects of educational therapy for educational therapists. Details in the findings could help educational therapists design better virtual lessons in the future. While online platforms may not be ideal for dyslexic learners, educational therapists believe that age and technological capability contribute significantly to the feasibility of virtual educational therapy. Recommendations for further research include a) a study to explore dyslexic learners' perspectives and experience of online learning, b) a survey of online learning with other programmes, not just the literacy programme and lastly, c) an investigation into the mental health and well-being of dyslexic learners and educational therapists while participating in online learning. Critical incidents are unanticipated events (either positive or negative) that teachers may encounter during a lesson or other situation causing them to reflect on their approach and change accordingly..Critical incidents have great potential for learning as they are vividly remembered and set the conditions for systematic reflection. However, despite the importance of the critical incident technique for professional learning in Initial Teacher Education (ITE), it is not generally used in teacher education programmes until the practicum stage when video-analysis is used. This study aims to analyse student teachers' individual and group reflections regarding two cases recorded on video in Portugal and Spain. Under the context of an Erasmus research project entitled 'Digital Practicum 3.0: Exploring Augmented Reality, Remote Classrooms, and Virtual Learning to enrich and expand preservice teacher education preparation (2020–1-ES01-KA226-HE - 096,120)' two cohorts of 39 and 22 student teachers, respectively, reflected upon two critical incidents previously selected by the student teachers who had taught the two lessons that were video recorded. They had to watch the videos and analyse the incidents both in group discussion and individual reflection. Findings suggest that such a strategy is key to enhancing the development of critical reflection in Initial Teacher Education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
