Hail, an intense convective catastrophic weather, is seriously hazardous to people’s lives and properties. This article proposes a multi-step cyclone hail weather recognition model, called long short-term memory (LSTM)-C3D, based on radar images, integrating attention mechanism and network voting optimization characteristics to achieve intelligent recognition and accurate classification of hailstorm weather based on long short-term memory networks. Based on radar echo data in the strong-echo region, LSTM-C3D can selectively fuse the long short-term time feature information of hail meteorological images and effectively focus on the significant features to achieve intelligent recognition of hail disaster weather. The meteorological scans of 11 Doppler weather radars deployed in various regions of the Hunan Province of China are used as the specific experimental and application objects for extensive validation and comparison experiments. The results show that the proposed method can realize the automatic extraction of radar reflectivity image features, and the accuracy of hail identification in the strong-echo region reaches 91.3%. It can also effectively realize the prediction of convective storm movement trends, laying the theoretical foundation for reducing the misjudgment of extreme disaster weather.

Background: Obesity and metabolic syndrome (MetS) have become urgent worldwide health problems, predisposing patients to unfavorable myocardial status and thyroid dysfunction. Low-carbohydrate diet (LCD) and time-restricted eating (TRE) have been confirmed to be effective methods for weight management and improving MetS, but their effects on the myocardium and thyroid are unclear. Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis in a randomized clinical diet-induced weight-loss trial. Participants (N = 169) diagnosed with MetS were randomized to the LCD group, the 8 h TRE group, or the combination of the LCD and TRE group for 3 months. Myocardial enzymes and thyroid function were tested before and after the intervention. Pearson's or Spearman's correlation was assessed between functions of the myocardium and thyroid and cardiometabolic parameters at baseline. Results: A total of 162 participants who began the trial were included in the intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis, and 57 participants who adhered to their assigned protocol were involved in the per-protocol (PP) analysis. Relative to baseline, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine kinase MB, hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase, and free triiodothyronine (FT3) declined, and free thyroxine (FT4) increased after all 3 interventions (both analyses). Creatine kinase (CK) decreased only in the TRE (− 18 [44] U/L, P < 0.001) and combination (− 22 [64] U/L, P = 0.003) groups (PP analysis). Thyrotropin (− 0.24 [0.83] μIU/mL, P = 0.011) and T3 (− 0.10 ± 0.04 ng/mL, P = 0.011) decreased in the combination group (ITT analysis). T4 (0.82 ± 0.39 μg/dL, P = 0.046), thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb, 2 [1] %, P = 0.021), and thyroid microsomal antibodies (TMAb, 2 [2] %, P < 0.001) increased, while the T3/T4 ratio (− 0.01 ± 0.01, P = 0.020) decreased only in the TRE group (PP analysis). However, no significant difference between groups was observed in either analysis. At baseline, CK was positively correlated with the visceral fat area. FT3 was positively associated with triglycerides and total cholesterol. FT4 was negatively related to insulin and C-peptide levels. TgAb and TMAb were negatively correlated with the waist-to-hip ratio. Nano-ZnO/transition metal composites (NZTC) were prepared via sol-gel method where transition metal (Cu2+, Ag+, Co2+ and Ni2+) and ZnSO4 were used as the substrate. NZTC was characterized using scanning electronic microscope (SEM), ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer (UV), fluorescence spectrophotometer (XRF), infrared spectrometer (IR), and so on. The photocatalytic degradation behaviors of nano-ZnO and NZTC for formaldehyde in gas and solution were investigated. The results indicated that nano-ZnO and NZTC could achieve the degradation of formaldehyde by photocatalytic process, and the degradation rates were up to 43.75% and 67.2% in gas and solution, respectively, thus thereby leading to good application prospects in the degradation of organic compounds. To optimize energy structure and efficiently utilize renewable energy sources, it is necessary to establish a new electrical power–gas mutual transformation virtual power plant that has low-carbon benefits. To promote the economic and low-carbon operation of a virtual power plant and reduce uncertainty regarding the use of new energy, a multi-timescale (day-ahead to intraday) optimal scheduling model is proposed. First, a basic model of a new interconnected power–gas virtual power plant (power-to-gas demand response virtual power plant, PD-VPP) was established with P2G and comprehensive demand response as the main body. Second, in response to the high volatility of new energy, a day-ahead to intraday multi-timescale collaborative operation optimization model is proposed. In the day-ahead optimization period, the next day's internal electricity price is formulated, and the price-based demand response load is regulated in advance so as to ensure profit maximization for the virtual power plant. Based on the results of day-ahead modeling, intraday optimization was performed on the output of each distributed unit, considering the cost of the carbon emission reductions to achieve low-carbon economic dispatch with minimal operating costs. With the advancement of 3D sensing technologies, point clouds are gradually becoming the main type of data representation in applications such as autonomous driving, robotics, and augmented reality. Nevertheless, the irregularity inherent in point clouds presents numerous challenges for traditional deep learning frameworks. Graph neural networks (GNNs) have demonstrated their tremendous potential in processing graph-structured data and are widely applied in various domains including social media data analysis, molecular structure calculation, and computer vision. GNNs, with their capability to handle non-Euclidean data, offer a novel approach for addressing these challenges. Additionally, drawing inspiration from the achievements of transformers in natural language processing, graph transformers have propelled models towards global awareness, overcoming the limitations of local aggregation mechanisms inherent in early GNN architectures. This paper provides a comprehensive review of GNNs and graph-based methods in point cloud applications, adopting a task-oriented perspective to analyze this field. We categorize GNN methods for point clouds based on fundamental tasks, such as segmentation, classification, object detection, registration, and other related tasks. For each category, we summarize the existing mainstream methods, conduct a comprehensive analysis of their performance on various datasets, and discuss the development trends and future prospects of graph-based methods. Background: Ischemic stroke (IS) is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the world, and alcohol consumption has been gaining attention as an independent risk factor for IS. Blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction and neuroinflammation are the core of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, and pericytes play a crucial role in the structure and function. This study is to explore the effects of long-term alcohol consumption on IS and the potential mechanisms of pericytes. Methods: Rat models of long-term alcohol intake followed by transient middle cerebral artery occlusion stroke (EtOH+tMCAO) and cell models of oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) with alcohol pre-treatment were constructed. Results: Worsened infarct volume, neurological scores, and BBB disruption were observed in the EtOH+tMCAO group compared with the tMCAO group, and immunofluorescence staining showed increased pericytes NLPR3 inflammasome activation at the ischemic penumbra. In vitro, pericyte mortality and LDH release elevated pre-treated by alcohol after OGD/R, and amplified expression of NLRP3 inflammasome was detected by Western blotting and qPCR. Alcohol pre-treatment activated the TLR4/NF-κB pathway, and transfecting pericytes with TLR4-small interfering RNA (siRNA) to block TLR4 signaling markedly restrained NLRP3 inflammasome over-activation. Injecting TAK-242 in rats alleviated neurological impairment caused by alcohol. Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes between patients with chronic ankle instability (CAI) undergoing arthroscopic anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) repair who received elastic bandage treatment and those who received lower-leg cast immobilization. Methods: CAI patients with isolated ATFL injury undergoing arthroscopic ATFL repair from January 2017 and August 2019 were included in the study. The visual analogue scale (VAS) at rest and during activities, American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score, Karlsson Ankle Functional Score (Karlsson score), and time of returning to walk, walk normally, work and sports were evaluated preoperatively, and at 6 months and 12 months follow-up. Results: A total of 41 patients were included in this study. Among them, 24 patients accepted lower-leg cast fixation, and the other 17 patients were immobilized with elastic bandage. Compared to patients with lower-leg immobilization, patients with elastic bandage fixation had significantly lower VAS during activities (P = 0.021) and higher AOFAS score (P = 0.015) at 12 months follow-up. The Karlsson score at 6 months follow-up were significantly higher in elastic bandage group than those in lower-leg group (P = 0.011). However, no significant difference was observed in time of returning to walk, work and sports between the two groups. Conclusion: Elastic bandage treatment was better than lower-leg cast immobilization in terms of eliminating pain symptom at 12 months follow-up, and improving ankle functional outcome at 6 months follow-up. Metaheuristic algorithms have garnered much attention among researchers owing to their robustness, adaptability, independence from a predetermined initial solution, and lack of reliance on gradient computations. The flower pollination algorithm (FPA) and the slime mould algorithm (SMA) are efficient methodologies for addressing global optimization challenges. Nonetheless, tackling large-scale global problems using a single algorithm often proves challenging due to inherent limitations in its mechanism. One effective approach to mitigating this limitation is to hybrid the two algorithms employing suitable strategies. We proposed a hybrid algorithm (GFPSMA) based on FPA and SMA. First, to address the global exploration issue of FPA, a method was proposed that utilized the golden section mechanism to enhance information exchange between random individuals and the best individual. Second, to improve the reliability of the random search phase in SMA, an adaptive step-size strategy was introduced. Furthermore, a dual-competition mechanism, inspired by gaming concepts, was introduced to enhance the integration of the two algorithms. Finally, an elite learning method with adjustment conditions was employed to refine the localization of the best individual. To assess the performance advantage of GFPSMA, 39 benchmark functions were employed, comparing GFPSMA with FPA and SMA along with their six variants, six variants of other metaheuristic algorithms, three CEC competition algorithms, totaling 17 algorithms, and strategic algorithms for testing. Typhoons are extremely severe weather events which seriously threaten the safety of people's lives and properties. Therefore, identifying and controlling typhoon disaster hazards have become important research topics. The spatial–temporal characteristics of typhoons are analysed using the typhoon disaster data in Macau from 2000 to 2020. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation is adopted to understand the 3D urban wind environment. Moreover, the 'exposure, sensitivity and adaptation' evaluation model is applied to construct the study framework. To calculate urban disaster vulnerability, the Create Fishnet tool is used to divide the city of Macau into 470 grids. The principal component analysis method is used to reveal the factors that significantly affect the typhoon's vulnerable areas. Result shows that 31.27% of grids are severely vulnerable. In addition, six principal components are identified, including indicators such as population density, building area ratio, mean elevation and wind speed. This study verifies the feasibility of wind speed data obtained by CFD in the typhoon evaluation model. Moreover, it provides a reliable reference guide for future urban microlevel studies. Airborne Frequency Diversity Array (FDA) radar operating at a high pulse repetition frequency encounters severe range-ambiguous clutter. The slight frequency increments introduced by the FDA result in angle and range coupling. Under these conditions, conventional space-time adaptive processing (STAP) often exhibits diminished performance or fails, complicating target detection. This paper proposes a method combining elevation oblique subspace projection with azimuth-Doppler STAP to suppress range-ambiguous clutter. The method compensates for the quadratic range dependence by analyzing the relationship between elevation frequency and range. It uses an elevation oblique subspace projection technique to construct an elevation adaptive filter, which separates clutter from ambiguous regions. Finally, residual clutter suppression is achieved through azimuth-Doppler STAP, enhancing target detection performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively addresses range dependence and ambiguity issues, improving target detection performance in complex airborne FDA radar environments. Background: Dyslipidemia is increasingly common in people living with HIV (PLHIV), thereby increasing the risk of cardiovascular events and diminishing the quality of life for these individuals. The study of blood lipid metabolism of PLHIV has great clinical significance in predicting the risk of cardiovascular disease. Therefore, this study aims to examine the blood lipid metabolism status of HIV-infected patients in Huzhou before and after receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) and to explore the impact of different HAART regimens on dyslipidemia. Method: PLHIV confirmed in Huzhou from June 2010 to June 2022 was included. The baseline characteristics and clinical data during the follow-up period were collected, including some blood lipid indicators (total cholesterol and triglycerides) and HAART regimens. A multivariate logistic regression model and the generalized estimating equation model were used to analyze the independent effects of treatment regimens on the risk of dyslipidemia. Result: The overall prevalence of dyslipidemia among PLHIV after HAART was 70.11%. PLHIV receiving lamivudine (3TC) + efavirenz (EFV) + zidovudine (AZT) had a higher prevalence of dyslipidemia compared to those receiving 3TC+EFV+tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF). In a logistic analysis adjusted for important covariates such as BMI, age, diabetes status, etc., we found that the risks of dyslipidemia were higher with 3TC+EFV+AZT (dyslipidemia: odds ratio [OR] = 2.09, 95% confidence interval [Cl]: 1.28–3.41; TG ≥1.7: OR = 2.40, 95%Cl:1.50–3.84) than with 3TC+EFV+TDF. Furthermore, on PLHIV that was matched 1:1 by the HAART regimens, the results of the generalized estimation equation again showed that 3TC+EFV+AZT (TG ≥1.7: OR = 1.84, 95%Cl: 1.10–3.07) is higher for the risk of marginal elevations of TG than 3TC+EFV+TDF. Conclusion: The prevalence of dyslipidemia varies according to different antiretroviral regimens. Using both horizontal and longitudinal data, we have repeatedly demonstrated that AZT has a more adverse effect on blood lipids than TDF from two perspectives. Microflow catalysis is a cutting-edge approach to advancing chemical synthesis and manufacturing, but the challenge lies in developing efficient and stable multiphase catalysts. Here we showcase incorporating amine-containing metal-organic cages into automated microfluidic reactors through covalent bonds, enabling highly continuous flow catalysis. Two Fe4L4 tetrahedral cages bearing four uncoordinated amines were designed and synthesized. Post-synthetic modifications of the amine groups with 3-isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane, introducing silane chains immobilized on the inner walls of the microfluidic reactor. The immobilized cages prove highly efficient for the reaction of anthranilamide with aldehydes, showing superior reactivity and recyclability relative to free cages. This superiority arises from the large cavity, facilitating substrate accommodation and conversion, a high mass transfer rate and stable covalent bonds between cage and microreactor. Consequently, P. sibiricum presents wide-ranging prospects in health food and pharmaceutical research and development. This paper provides a comprehensive summary of research advancements in the polysaccharides, flavonoids, saponins, and solomonseal rhizome extract of P. sibiricum, particularly in metabolic regulation. It delves into the mechanisms by which the main active substances of P. sibiricum influence glucose and lipid metabolism. Objective: There is no study on the relationship between triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index) and skeletal muscle mass in middle-aged and elderly C population. Therefore, the aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and weight-adjusted relative skeletal muscle index (RSMI) in middle-aged and elderly C population. Methods: We retrospectively studied 947 aged ⩾40 years subjects who got a routine medical examination in the Department of Geriatrics of R Hospital from May 2021 to March 2023. The RSMI was designed to evaluate skeletal muscle mass and calculated based on lean mass of the limbs(kg)/body weight(kg) × 100%. Skeletal muscle mass reduction was defined as a RSMI of 1-2 standard deviations (SD) below of healthy adults aged 30-49 years old. Considering the quartile groups of the TyG index, the subjects were assigned to 4 groups: Q1 (less than or equal to 8.171), Q2 (from 8.172 to 8.569), Q3 (from 8.570 to 8.992), and Q4 (greater than or equal to 8.993). Results: With TyG index increased, RSMI levels significantly reduced(P <.001). Spearman's correlation analysis showed that the TyG index was negatively correlated with RSMI in males (r = −0.320) and females (r = −0.240). The TyG index was positively correlated with body mass index (BMI), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (P <.05). Besides, binary logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of developing reduced skeletal muscle mass in the group Q4 was 2.131 (95%CI:1.118-4.064) in males; and was 2.472 (95%CI:1.581-3.867) in females compared to the Q1 group. Conclusion: TyG index was negatively correlated with relative skeletal muscle index, and a higher TyG index was associated with the development of reduced skeletal muscle mass independently of other influencing factors. The recent development of wearable devices is revolutionizing the way of human–machine interaction (HMI). Nowadays, an interactive interface that carries more embedded information is desired to fulfill the increasing demand in era of Internet of Things. However, present approach normally relies on sensor arrays for memory expansion, which inevitably brings the concern of wiring complexity, signal differentiation, power consumption, and miniaturization. Herein, a one‐channel based self‐powered HMI interface, which uses the eigenfrequency of magnetized micropillar (MMP) as identification mechanism, is reported. When manually vibrated, the inherent recovery of the MMP causes a damped oscillation that generates current signals because of Faraday's Law of induction. The time‐to‐frequency conversion explores the MMP‐related eigenfrequency, which provides a specific solution to allocate diverse commands in an interference‐free behavior even with one electric channel. A cylindrical cantilever model is built to regulate the MMP eigenfrequencies via precisely designing the dimensional parameters and material properties. It is shown that using one device and two electrodes, high‐capacity HMI interface can be realized when the magnetic micropillars (MMPs) with different eigenfrequencies have been integrated. This study provides the reference value to design the future HMI system especially for situations that require a more intuitive and intelligent communication experience with high‐memory demand. The gut microbiota is a complex community of microorganisms inhabiting the intestinal tract, which plays a vital role in human health. It is intricately involved in the metabolism, and it also affects diverse physiological processes. The gut–lung axis is a bidirectional pathway between the gastrointestinal tract and the lungs. Recent research has shown that the gut microbiome plays a crucial role in immune response regulation in the lungs and the development of lung diseases. In this review, we present the interrelated factors concerning gut microbiota and the associated metabolites in pulmonary hypertension (PH), a lethal disease characterized by elevated pulmonary vascular pressure and resistance. Our research team explored the role of gut‐microbiota‐derived metabolites in cardiovascular diseases and established the correlation between metabolites such as putrescine, succinate, trimethylamine N‐oxide (TMAO), and N, N, N‐trimethyl‐5‐aminovaleric acid with the diseases. Furthermore, we found that specific metabolites, such as TMAO and betaine, have significant clinical value in PH, suggesting their potential as biomarkers in disease management. In detailing the interplay between the gut microbiota, their metabolites, and PH, we underscored the potential therapeutic approaches modulating this microbiota. Ultimately, we endeavor to alleviate the substantial socioeconomic burden associated with this disease. This review presents a unique exploratory analysis of the link between gut microbiota and PH, intending to propel further investigations in the gut–lung axis. Non-human primates (NHPs) are increasingly used in preclinical trials to test the safety and efficacy of biotechnology therapies. Nonetheless, given the ethical issues and costs associated with this model, it would be highly advantageous to use NHP cellular models in clinical studies. However, developing and maintaining the naïve state of primate pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) remains difficult as does in vivo detection of PSCs, thus limiting biotechnology application in the cynomolgus monkey. Here, we report a chemically defined, xeno-free culture system for culturing and deriving monkey PSCs in vitro. The cells display global gene expression and genome-wide hypomethylation patterns distinct from monkey-primed cells. We also found expression of signaling pathways components that may increase the potential for chimera formation. Crucially for biomedical applications, we were also able to integrate bioluminescent reporter genes into monkey PSCs and track them in chimeric embryos in vivo and in vitro. The engineered cells retained embryonic and extra-embryonic developmental potential. Meanwhile, we generated a chimeric monkey carrying bioluminescent cells, which were able to track chimeric cells for more than 2 years in living animals. Background: Hypertension and frailty often occur concurrently, exhibiting increasing prevalence in the older population. In this study, we analyzed the frailty status among older adults with hypertension and the impact of their interaction on death risk. Method: This prospective cohort survey study included data from older people in an urban community in Beijing collected between 2009 and 2020 using the cluster random sampling method. The participants were older adults who were ≥ 60 years old at the time of investigation and had lived at the place of investigation for > 1 year. The survey variables comprised those related to health and frailty status assessed during the 2009 baseline survey, along with death-related information as outcome variables in 2020. Additionally, a frailty index (FI) model was used to examine the frailty status among the older adults at baseline. The effects of hypertension prevalence on the age-related frailty changes as well as on mortality for varying degrees of frailty were further analyzed. Lastly, Cox regression and Kaplan–Meier curves were applied to evaluate the impact of the interaction between hypertension and frailty on death risk. Results: Ultimately, 1197 older individuals aged between 60 and 101 years(average age at baseline: 74.8 ± 8.6 years) were included.Among them, 475 individuals were men (mean age:74.8 ± 8.8 years), and 722 were women (mean age:74.8 ± 8.4 years).Frailty was identified in 151 individuals, leading to a prevalence rate of 12.6%(151/1197),while hypertension was detected in 593 (prevalence rate:49.5% [593/1197]).A total of 443 deaths were recorded by 2020, resulting in a mortality rate of 37.0% (443/1197).Moreover, FI values and mortality rates were higher at any age in older adults with hypertension compared with those without hypertension. Survival time analysis showed that the median survival time of older adults with hypertension and frailty was the shortest (39.0[95%CI: 35.6–42.3] months)when compared with that of older adults without hypertension but with frailty (52.9 [95%CI: 46.6-59.3] months), those with hypertension but without frailty (102.7 [95%CI: 98.7–106.8] months), and those without hypertension and frailty (127.9 [95%CI: 113.5–134.7] months),with log-rank x2 = 999.686 and P < 0.001. Furthermore, Cox regression results demonstrated that older adults with hypertension and frailty had the highest death risk when compared with that of older adults without hypertension and frailty (HR = 1.792, P < 0.001), those without hypertension but with frailty (HR = 1.484, P < 0.001), and those with hypertension but without frailty (HR = 1.406, P = 0.005). Conclusion: Frailty is prevalent among older adults with hypertension; however, older adults with both hypertension and frailty have a relatively higher mortality risk. Therefore, screening and assessment of frailty in the older population with hypertension are crucial for its early identification, thereby enabling timely and appropriate interventions to prevent or delay the adverse effects of this concurrent condition.
