In this paper, we have proposed the precise model of coaxial TGVs (CTGVs) which consists of ground-signal signal-ground (GSSG) TGVs. An equivalent electrical model of CTGVs is established and the partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) technique is used to extract the frequency-dependent impedance parameters. In CTGVs, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and copper is used as filler material in inner and outer layer. Resistance and inductance of CTGVs is calculated using the PEEC technique for different filler materials. The insertion loss (S21) of CTGVs is determined using the HFSS simulations and is compared analytically in differential mode configurations. S21 is calculated for various geometrical parameters of MWCNT-based CTGVs such as diameter of TGV, pitch between CTGV pair, as well as material properties such as permittivity of SiO2 and benzocyclobutene (BCB) polymers. The dynamic modulus of asphalt mixture is an important factor in the design of asphalt pavement, and many scholars have proposed different models for estimating the dynamic modulus of asphalt mixture, but there are almost no studies on the prediction of the dynamic modulus of semi-flexible materials. In order to analyze and estimate the dynamic modulus of semi-flexible materials, we set up a high-performance cementitious paste (HPCP) semi-flexible material and a reference group Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA-16) under multiple conditions, first measured its dynamic modulus in the laboratory, and analyzed the dynamic modulus characteristics of the material, and then used the equation the estimation equation proposed by Witczak et al. (Witczak1-37A) as a benchmark to introduce a new parameter, grouting mass ratio (Pb) to develop a Witczak- G prediction model to compare and validate the predicted dynamic modulus with the measured values. The results show that compared with SMA-16, HPCP semi-flexible material exhibits higher dynamic modulus and lower phase angle, and its temperature sensitivity and deformation resistance are significantly better than those of SMA-16. Under the influence of porosity and Pb factor, the dynamic modulus is positively correlated with both factors, and the phase angle increases first and then decreases, showing strong elastic properties. In this paper, we propose a dynamic modulus prediction model based on viscosity and Pb, Witczak-G, which predicts the highest coefficient of determination (R2) of the predicted dynamic modulus as high as 0.99 after initial fitting and validation, which indicates that the Witczak-G model is suitable for predicting the dynamic modulus of semi-flexible materials injected with HPCP. Bioabsorbable materials have a wide range of applications, such as scaffolds for regenerative medicine and cell transplantation therapy and carriers for drug delivery systems. Therefore, although many researchers are conducting their research and development, few of them have been used in clinical practice. In addition, existing bioabsorbable materials cannot bind to the body's tissues. If bioabsorbable materials with an adhesive ability to biological tissues can be made, they can ensure the mixture remains fixed to the affected area when mixed with artificial bone or other materials. In addition, if the filling material in the bone defect is soft and uncured, resorption is rapid, which is advantageous for bone regeneration. In this paper, the development and process of a new bioabsorbable material "Phosphorylated pullulan" and its capability as a bone replacement material were demonstrated. Phosphorylated pullulan, which was developed based on the tooth adhesion theory, is the only bioabsorbable material able to adhere to bone and teeth. The phosphorylated pullulan and β-TCP mixture is a non-hardening putty. It is useful as a new resorbable bone replacement material with an adhesive ability for bone defects around implants. Over recent years, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) has been widely used as a substrate material for flexible strain sensors due to its remarkable mechanical flexibility and the ease of combining various conductive materials by electrospinning. Many research advances have been made in the preparation of flexible strain sensors with better ductility, higher sensitivity, and wider sensing range by using TPU in combination with various conductive materials through electrospinning. However, there is a lack of reviews that provide a systematic and comprehensive summary and outlook of recent research advances in this area. In this review paper, the working principles of strain sensors and electrospinning technology are initially described. Subsequently, recent advances in strain sensors based on electrospun TPU are tracked and discussed, with a focus on the incorporation of various conductive fillers such as carbonaceous materials, MXene, metallic materials, and conductive polymers. Moreover, the wide range of applications of electrospun TPU flexible strain sensors is thoroughly discussed. Gradient aluminum foam as a filling material for CFRP thin-walled square tubes is a new energy-absorbing structure. In this paper, an axial quasi-static compression experiment and numerical simulation were carried out on CFRP thin-walled square tubes filled with gradient aluminum foam, the crushing process and failure modes of hollow and filled tubes under typical lay-up angles were analyzed, and the effects of lay-up mode, CFRP wall thickness and gradient aluminum foam filling on the crashworthiness of filled structures were investigated. The results showed that gradient aluminum foam can significantly improve the crashworthiness of CFRP thin-walled square tubes, and the crashworthiness of structures filled with positive gradient aluminum foam is better than that filled with negative gradient and single-density aluminum foam. In this paper, it is proved that the CFRP thin-walled square tube filled with gradient aluminum foam is an energy-absorbing structure with excellent crashworthiness, providing certain reference for the design of CFRP thin-walled structures filled with gradient aluminum foam. Phosphogypsum (PG) occupies a large amount of land due to its large annual production and low utilization rate, and at the same time causes serious environmental problems due to toxic impurities. PG is used for mine backfill, and industrial solid waste is a curing agent for PG, which can save the filling cost and reduce environmental pollution. In this paper, PG was used as a raw material, combined with steel slag (SS) and ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) under the action of an alkali-activated agent (NaOH) to prepare all-solid waste phosphogypsum-based backfill material (PBM). The effect of the GGBS to SS ratio on the compressive strength and toxic leaching of PBM was investigated. The chemical composition of the raw materials was obtained by XRF analysis, and the mineral composition and morphology of PBM and its stabilization/curing mechanism against heavy metals were analyzed using XRD and SEM-EDS. The results showed that the best performance of PBM was achieved when the contents of PG, GGBS, and SS were 80%, 13%, and 7%, the liquid-to-solid ratio was 0.4, and the mass concentration of NaOH was 4%, with a strength of 2.8 MPa at 28 days. The leaching concentration of fluorine at 7 days met the standard of groundwater class IV (2 mg/L), and the leaching concentration of phosphorus was detected to be less than 0.001 mg/L, and the leaching concentration of heavy metals met the environmental standard at 14 d. The hydration concentration in PBM met the environmental standard. The hydration products in PBM are mainly ettringite and C-(A)-S-H gel, which can effectively stabilize the heavy metals in PG through chemical precipitation, physical adsorption, and encapsulation. The high specific stiffness materials are used to design the space payload components. These components should sustain the extreme environmental condition throughout their life cycle without failure. The prerequisites of future space missions need lightweight materials which must be mechanically strong and high thermal and electrically conductive. The Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) are efficient filler material in composite or metal matrix to enhance greater electrical and thermal conductivity. The quality of the CNT nano composite relies upon several parameters like the types of CNTs, its purity, aspect ratio, amount of loading, alignment, and interfacial adhesion between the nanotube and polymer. The performance of the CNT-CFRP composite depends on the successful execution of the processing technique. This review paper intends to highlight the enhancement of the mechanical, thermal, electrical properties of the composite, and the challenges to achieving it. Bamboo, as a green building material, plays a vital role in construction. Bamboo has good properties and appearance, making it highly attractive for building structures and designs. Since the compressive capacity of bamboo is considerably lower than its tensile capacity, with the ratio typically ranging between 300% to 900%, this limits its application dimensions in construction. Therefore, filling the original bamboo structural members with specific materials or applying different connection methods can not only maintain the appearance of the bamboo structure but also improve its compressive capacity and overall durability, thus expanding the application range of bamboo structural members and enhancing the performance of the architectural design process. Two hollow bamboo specimens were among the eight BFC specimens tested for this paper. Key components such as transverse stiffeners, steel bars, filler materials, and bamboo nodes were examined for their influence on the specimens' ductility, peak strain, ultimate bearing capacity, and failure mechanisms. The test results showed that the ratio of the ultimate bearing capacity of BFC specimens to hollow bamboo samples could reach up to 538%, while the peak strain differences were minimal. A non-linear finite element model was developed and its accuracy confirmed based on the test results. This work proposes a new approach to determine the final axial compressive capacity of BFC columns by creating an elastic model of transversely isotropic cylinders. As a result, the primary goal of this study is to establish a foundation for more scientific building design techniques and procedures by examining the axial compression mechanics of structural bamboo filled with cement and concrete (BFC) and how it influences building design. There is always a vital need for more robust, affordable, and multifunctional materials to satisfy the demands of industrial consumers. Therefore, polymer matrix composites (dual and hybrid matrix) have become popular with multiple fillers to meet these needs. Graphene nano-platelet (GNP) and Carbon fibre (CF) are popular among those fillers due to their superior properties, such as good mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. Low density polyethylene (LDPE), Polystyrene (PS), GNP, and CF are popular and heavily used in the packaging, automotive, and aerospace industries. However, it would be good to look at how these areas have evolved over the last few decades. Hence, this review focuses on a comparison of LDPE and PS as a matrix and GNP and CF as a filler, considering the content that determines the overall performance of blends and composites. The literature was screened for the last few decades. The blends and/or composites produced by a twin-screw extruder were included. A total of 1628 relevant papers were retrieved from all databases. Based on the review, it was deduced that more research should be needed in areas such as the aerospace industry to identify optimum content. Most of the analysis showed that factors such as filler surface area, dispersion, and content affect overall blends and composites' performance in terms of mechanical properties, especially elastic modulus and tensile strength, and other properties. Based on the review, it was realised that using 20 and 30 wt%, 2 and 30 wt%, 2 and 4 wt%, and 20 and 30 wt% filler was the most common combination giving the optimum content for LDPE, PS, GNP, and CF, respectively. EMS and TSH changes of the composites were calculated according to their optimum content. Overall, LDPE and PS are good in packaging areas, but their mechanical properties still need to be improved for use in industries such as automotive, aerospace etc. Due to the advantages of GNP and CF, they are used in different applications, such as electrical devices, medical tools, and automobile vehicles. However, these properties are affected easily by interfacial adhesion, dispersion, and aggregation. Many researchers have searched these parameters and analysed how to prevent the negative effects of these parameters. The application of advanced high-strength steel grades (AHSS) in different kinds of industry is connected to more than their attractive mechanical properties. The present paper focuses on improving the welding Docol 1300M steel to reach an acceptable microstructure and mechanical parameters. It was decided to manufacture joints with different welding parameters using different filler materials. The electrode wires were varied to increase the carbon content in the weld, and nitrogen was added to the argon shielding mixture to obtain non-metallic inclusions that strengthen the fusion zone. Specimens of joints welded with the gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process for non-destructive and destructive tests were examined. Tensile and bending tests as well as microscopic inspections using a light (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were also conducted. The results from the fatigue test confirmed the validity of the proposed welding process for the Docol 1300M joint. The collected data enabled the following conclusion: The article's novelty is represented by the use of shielding gas mixtures containing argon and nitrogen in the GMAW welding process of AHSS steel to create titanium non-metallic inclusions, which will translate into better performance properties of the entire joint. In this paper, metal matrix composites of Al6061 strengthened with 6 wt. % SiC were produced by stir casting and further subjected to the Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding fabrication process using ER5356 as the filler material. The effect of TIG welding on hardness and wear resistance was studied by varying current at 150, 170, and 200 A. Samples of cast composite as per ASTM standards were prepared. Hardness tests on TIG-welded composite were carried out on the base, heat-affected, and weld zones. The test results showed higher hardness with an increase in welding current. Sliding wear properties were explored using the pin-on-disc machine. The wear rate and weight loss decreased as the welding current increased. The surface morphological images obtained through SEM indicated that the wear in the non-welded specimen was due to abrasion and delamination, whereas that of the welded specimen showed a reduced delamination and lower wear rate. This paper proposes a new type of gangue filling body (GFB) to address the issues of the low stability, strength, poor shrinkage performance, and inadequate seepage resistance of paste filling materials in overburdened mining conditions, as well as the challenge of fully utilizing solid waste gangue. The coal gangue (CG), U-expanding agent (UEA), and amount of water added were kept constant, and the mass ratio of the various components was adjusted to the design. The standard for filling was assessed using slump tests, uniaxial compression tests, shrinkage tests, and penetration tests. A further microscopic analysis of the pastes with an optimal filling performance was conducted using SEM. The support pressure and overburden migration patterns in the GFBs were evaluated using Flac3D. The results indicate that the GFB with ratio 4 performed best, highlighting the significant role of Portland cement (OPC). The GFB with ratio 3 demonstrated the second-best performance, suggesting that GFBs with a higher early strength should be chosen to fill hollow zones for an effective filling outcome. This study introduced a new type of paste filling material and confirmed the rock transport law of this material under overburdened conditions using Flac3D, offering significant insights for the engineering field. The electric vehicle (EV) industry challenges battery joining technologies by requiring higher energy density both by mass and volume. Improving the energy density via new battery chemistry would be the holy grail but is seriously hindered and progresses slowly. In the meantime, alternative ways, such as implementing more efficient cell packaging by minimising the electrical resistance of joints, are of primary focus. In this paper, we discuss the challenges associated with the electrical characterisation of laser-soldered joints in general, and the minimisation of their resistive losses, in particular. In order to assess the impact of joint resistance on the overall resistance of the sample, the alteration in resistance was monitored as a function of voltage probe distance and modelled by finite element simulation. The experimental measurements showed two different regimes: one far from the joint area and another in its vicinity and within the joint cross-section. The presented results confirm the importance of the thickness of the filler material, the effective and total soldered area, and the area and position of the voids within the total soldered area in determining the electrical resistance of joints. When manufacturing the welded joints of components made of metal–ceramic composites of the Al-Si/SiC type, we encounter significant difficulties. This is related to the presence of a ceramic phase in the aluminium alloy matrix. The interaction between the molten metal matrix and the ceramic particles in the weld pool influences a complex of physicochemical phenomena resulting in, among other things, the structure of the welded joint. This is particularly true of the effect of the distribution of ceramic particles and their influence on the crystallisation process in the weld pool. An important issue is the influence of the reinforcing particles on the susceptibility of the aluminium matrix to both hot and cold cracking. The scope of the research included the development of the chemical composition of an additive material for the TIG welding of aluminium–ceramic composites. This material was made in the form of so-called sticks, cast from alloys containing elements such as magnesium, scandium or zirconium in addition to aluminium. The appropriate composition of the mass content of the individual components was intended to change the crystallisation mode of the weld pool and to obtain strengthening precipitates. The most favourable structure was obtained in the case of a modification of the AlMg5 alloy by the addition of scandium. Minor dispersions of Al3Sc became the nucleation pads of fine grains, which improved the mechanical properties of the alloy. Also, in the case of the addition of zirconium, the crystallisation shifted from dendritic to fine-grain growth. In the conditions of an energy crisis, an important issue is the increase in energy efficiency and productivity of welding and hardfacing processes. The article substantiates the perspective of using exothermic additives introduced into core filler for flux-cored wire arc welding processes as a relatively cheap additional heat source, reducing energy consumption when melting filler materials, and increasing the deposition rate. The mixture design (MD) was selected as the design method to optimize the average values of current and voltage, as well as arc stability parameters depending on core filler composition. This article studies the influence of the introduction of exothermic addition (EA), as well as the ratios CuO/C and CuO/Al on arc stability for the FCAW S process. Parameters characterizing arc stability were determined using an oscillograph, and from the obtained oscillograms, an analysis was conducted on arc voltage and welding current signals during flux-cored arc welding. It was determined that various methods can be used to evaluate arc stability, which can be divided into two groups: graphical (current and voltage cyclograms, box plots with frequency histograms, ellipse parameters plotted on current, and voltage cyclograms) and statistical (standard variation and coefficients of variation for welding current and arc voltage). In this paper, a comprehensive evaluation of arc stability depending on the composition of the cored wire filler was carried out. It was determined that the most stable current parameters were observed for the flux-cored wire electrode with an average exothermic addition content at the level of EA = 26.5–28.58 wt.% and a high carbon content (low values of CuO/C = 3.75). Conversely, the lowest values of arc stability (CV(U) and Std(U)) were observed during hardfacing with a flux-cored wire electrode with a high CuO/Al ratio ≥ 4.5 and a content of exothermic addition in the core filler below the average EA < 29 wt.%. Mathematical models of mean values, standard deviation, coefficient of variation for welding current, and arc voltage were developed. The results indicated that the response surface prediction models had good accuracy and prediction ability. The developed mathematical models showed that the ratio of oxidizing agent to reducing agent in the composition of exothermic addition (CuO/Al) had the greatest influence on the welding current and arc voltage characteristics under investigation. The percentage of exothermic mixture in the core filler (EA) only affected the average welding current (Iaw) and the average arc voltage (Uaw). The graphite content expressed through the CuO/C ratio had a significant impact on welding current parameters as well as the coefficient of variation of arc voltage (CV(U)). Two welding parameters were selected for optimization: the mean welding current (Iaw) and the standard deviation of arc voltage (Std(U)). The best arc stability when using exothermic addition CuO-Al in the core filler was observed at CuO/Al = 3.6–3.9, CuO/C = 3.5–4.26, and at an average EA content of 29–38 wt.%. The significant influence of the CuO/Al and CuO/C ratios on arc voltage parameters can also be explained by their impact on the elemental composition of the welding arc (copper, cupric oxide (CuO), and Al2O3). The more complete this reaction, the higher the amount of easily vaporized copper (Cu) in the arc plasma, enhancing arc stability. Using metallurgical solid waste Titanium-extracted Residual Slag (TRS) as mine-filling cementitious material is crucial to reduce the filling cost and promote the utilization of solid waste resources. In this paper, taking the strength of the backfill at different curing ages as the response target, the Design-expert mixing design was used to optimize the proportioning experiment of titanium-extracted residual slag, titanium gypsum, silicate cement, and total tailings, to analyze the interactions and influences of the materials on the strength of the backfill, and to analyze the hydration mechanism of the titanium-extracted residual slag-based filling cementitious materials under the optimal proportioning. The results show that: (1) the order of the sensitivity of each component to the strength of backfill is: composite activator > cement > titanium gypsum > titanium-extracted residual slag, and there are different degrees of interaction between them; (2) the optimal ratio of titanium-extracted residual slag-based filling cementitious materials is TRS:titanium gypsum:cement:composite activator = 55:25:17:3; (3) early strength formation of backfill is mainly related to its hydration products ettringite and C-S-H, the rapid nucleation and cross-growth of ettringite in the early stage forms an effective physical filling effect, which is the main reason for the formation of high early strength, and the later strength of backfill benefited from the continuous accumulation of C-S-H encapsulation and bonding, which further densified its internal structure; (4) the use of titanium-extracted residual slag-based filling cementitious materials contributes to safe, green, and economic mining. Thermocline thermal energy storage systems play a crucial role in enhancing energy efficiency in energy-intensive industries. Among available technologies, air-based packed bed systems are promising due to their ability to utilize cost-effective materials. Recently, one of the most intriguing filler materials under study is steel slag, a byproduct of the steel industry. Steel slag offers affordability, ample availability without conflicting usage, stability at temperatures up to 1000 °C, compatibility with heat transfer fluids, and non-toxicity. Previous research demonstrated favorable thermophysical and mechanical properties. Nonetheless, a frequently overlooked aspect is the endurance of the slag particles, when exposed to both mechanical and thermal stresses across numerous charging and discharging cycles. Throughout the thermal cyclic process, the slag within the tank experiences substantial loads at elevated temperatures, undergoing thermal expansion and contraction. This phenomenon can result in the deterioration of individual particles and potential damage to the tank structure. However, assessing the extended performance of these systems is challenging due to the considerable time required for thermal cycles at a relevant scale. To address this issue, this paper introduces a specially designed fast testing apparatus, providing the corresponding testing results of a real-scale system over 15 years of operation. Although cemented soil as a subgrade fill material can meet certain performance requirements, it is susceptible to capillary erosion caused by groundwater. In order to eliminate the hazards caused by capillary water rise and to summarize the relevant laws of water transport properties, graphene oxide (GO) was used to improve cemented soil. This paper conducted capillary water absorption tests, unconfined compressive strength (UCS) tests, softening coefficient tests, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) tests on cemented soil using various contents of GO. The results showed that the capillary water absorption capacity and capillary water absorption rate exhibited a decreasing and then increasing trend with increasing GO content, while the UCS demonstrated an increasing and then decreasing trend. The improvement effect is most obvious when the content is 0.09%. At this content, the capillary absorption and capillary water absorption rate were reduced by 25.8% and 33.9%, respectively, and the UCS at 7d, 14d, and 28d was increased by 70.32%, 57.94%, and 61.97%, respectively. SEM testing results demonstrated that GO reduces the apparent void ratio of cemented soil by stimulating cement hydration and promoting ion exchange, thereby optimizing the microstructure and improving water resistance and mechanical properties. Defining an accurate friction model without having the mesh distortion in an optimized computational time has always been a significant challenge for modelling solid-state natural processes. The presented paper proposes an Eulerian frictional-based solid static model for the accurate modeling of sliding and sticking conditions for the friction stir additive manufacturing process (FSAM). For the frictional behavior, a modified friction model is proposed to investigate the sliding and sticking conditions during the process. The magnesium alloy is selected as the workpiece material and AZ31B-F is employed as the filler material. Two different subroutines, Dflux and Sfilm, are used in order to simulate the heat flux during the process. The convection and emission during the process are determined using the Goldak double ellipsoidal model. DC3D8 and C3D8R elements are employed as the thermal and mechanical models, respectively. The results indicated that the temperature sharply increased up to 870 °C in the first and the second layers. After that, the increasing rate becomes slower with a maxim temperature of 1310 °C. A linear cooling behavior is obtained at the cooling step. The stress results indicated that the tool and the filler material pressure play a significant role in increasing the stress at the center of the workpiece. On the sides of the workpiece, a peak stress is also obtained due to the clamping force. At the cooling phase for the center of the workpiece, the longitudinal residual stress of 5 MP and transverse residual stress of 7 MPa (compression) are achieved. The distortion of the workpiece is also investigated and a maximum value of 0.13 mm is obtained. To wrap up, it should be noted that by implementing an accurate sliding/sticking condition in a frictional based model, a more comprehensive investigation about frictional interactions and their influence on thermal and mechanical behavior can be carried out. Various methods of longwall full mining with partial filling have been extensively researched to satisfy the specific mining needs of pressurized-coal and residual-coal resources. This study introduces three longwall partial-filling-mining techniques: room–pillar filling mining, parallel-strip filling mining, and vertical-strip filling mining. Numerical simulations are employed to evaluate the efficacy of these methods. The findings indicate that vertical-strip filling mining results in minimal surface deformation and a more uniform distribution of displacements. In practical operations, the effectiveness of filling largely depends on the choice of filling technology and materials. The research further includes an optimization analysis of the filling technology, emphasizing the composition of the coal-gangue-paste filling system and the refinement of its components. Additionally, the study aims to explore the optimization analysis of filling materials, specifically focusing on performance-optimization methods. The experimental results illustrate that optimizing the filling materials can enhance the performance of filling paste, improving both early-stage and long-term compressive strength. Moreover, the paper examines the quantitative characterization of paste-filling-mining subsidence at various stages in conjunction with theoretical knowledge. Subsequently, mining-subsidence-control measures are recommended to address the primary deformation factors across different stages. Against the background of the prevailing green development paradigm, numerous coal mines have embraced the adoption of gob-side entry retaining mining technology. The most commonly employed form of gob-side entry retaining involves building an artificial wall along the edge of the goaf behind the working face to maintain the roadway. The pivotal challenge in gob-side entry retaining lies in the roadside support. Currently, commonplace concrete serves as the predominant material for the roadside filling body. Nevertheless, traditional concrete exhibits drawbacks, including inadequate tensile strength and poor toughness, leading to wall cracks or even collapses in the retaining wall. Steel fiber, a frequently employed reinforcement and toughening agent in concrete, has found widespread application in the construction sector and other fields. However, its use as a roadside filling material in underground coal mines remains infrequent. Therefore, in this paper, the flow and mechanical properties of steel fiber concrete were tested and analyzed, and field industrial tests were conducted. Results of indoor experiments show that steel fibers reduce the slump of concrete. The addition of steel fibers shifted the pore compacting stage, linear elasticity stage, and destabilization stage forward and improved the post-peak bearing capacity. The addition of steel fibers makes the concrete compressive and tensile strength show a "first increase and then decrease" trend; both peaked at 1.5%, and the increase in tensile strength is more pronounced. Steel fibers enhance the strength of compressive strength of concrete at an early age, weaker at a late age, and tensile strength inversely. The addition of steel fiber can change the concrete matrix from tensile damage to shear damage, and the toughness index shows the trend of "first increase and then decrease", and reaches the peak value when the dosage is 1.5%. The applications of polymer-bonded magnets are increasing within drive technology mostly because of new concepts concerning the magnetic excitation of direct current (DC) or synchronous machines. To satisfy this rising demand for hard magnetic filler particles—mainly rare earth materials—in polymer-bonded magnets, a recycling strategy for thermoplastic-based bonded magnets has to be found that can be applied to polymer-bonded magnets. The most important factor for the recycling strategy is the filler material, especially when using rare earth materials, as those particles are associated with limited resources and high costs. However, thermoplastic-based bonded magnets reveal the opportunity to reuse the compound material system without separation of the filler from the matrix. Most known recycling strategies focus on sintered magnets, which leads to highly limited knowledge in terms of strategies for recycling bonded magnets. This paper illustrates the impact of different amounts of recycling material within the material system on material behavior and magnetic properties that can be achieved by taking different flow conditions and varying gating systems into account. The recycled material is generated by the mechanical reuse of shreds. We found that a supporting effect can be achieved with up to 50% recycled material in the material system, which leads to only minimal changes in the material's behavior. Furthermore, changes in magnetic properties in terms of recycled material are affected by the gating system. To reduce the reduction in magnetic properties, the number of pin points should be as low as possible, and they should located in the middle. The filler orientation of the recycled material is minimally influenced by the outer magnetic field and, therefore, mainly follows the flow conditions. The circular waveguide aperture or open-end radiator, one of the canonical antenna elements, can be filled with a dielectric material for miniaturization. With dielectric filling, the aperture reflection increases and impedance matching is necessary. This paper presents a simple but innovative simulation-based approach to the aperture matching of a dielectric-filled circular waveguide aperture. By properly loading the aperture with two- or three-section dielectric rings, the impedance matching is possible over a wide frequency range starting slightly above the TE11-mode cutoff and continuing upward. The material for the aperture matching is the same as that filling the waveguide. The proposed matching structure is analyzed and optimized using a simulation tool for the dielectric constant εr of the filling material ranging from 1.8 to 10. For εr ≥ 5, the unmatched reflection coefficient ranges from −6.0 dB to −0.9 dB while the matched reflection coefficient is from −20.4 dB to −10.0 dB. Rolling dynamic compaction (RDC) technology utilises a heavy non-circular module (impact roller) to compact the underlying soil dynamically. The stresses imparted to the soil through this technique and the resulting vibrations, have been the subject of investigation in the field. A finite element (FE) model predicting the settlement and densification of a coarse-grained fill material subject to RDC with a BH-1300 4- sided 8 tonne impact roller has been shown to provide good agreement with that observed in the field. This paper presents estimates using the developed FE model for the peak particle velocity and acceleration, and the maximum stresses applied through each impact upon a coarse-grained soil. MXenes, a group of two‐dimensional (2D) metal carbides and nitrides, have emerged as promising electrode materials for supercapacitors. This is primarily attributed to their inherent metal‐like electrical conductivity, layered structure, surface redox reactivity, and superior pseudocapacitance through surface functional groups. Owing to its promising features, this material suffers from low mechanical strength, restacking, and unprecedented oxidation. As a result, balancing the electrochemical performance becomes challenging, eventually impeding its potential applications in lightweight, flexible supercapacitor applications. Recent strategies are centered on lighter and more stable filler materials to tackle these issues. Among these, cellulose is considered one of the most effective renewable materials because of its biocompatibility, thermal stability, high surface area, and mechanical reinforcement. Moreover, nanocellulose is capable of hosting other functional materials on its reactive surfaces, ensuring better ion accessibility, and can be used as an electrolyte separator membrane. This review paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of recent advances in the fabrication strategy, deterministic parameters for capacitive energy‐storage devices, electrochemical behavior, and the performance of MXene/cellulose‐based electrodes in its three‐dimensional aspect (1D, 2D and 3D) for supercapacitor application. The presence of discontinuities, such as fractures or geological faults, can significantly influence the fluid flow in a porous medium. In general, the discontinuities can act as preferential flow paths. However, depending on their aperture and filling material, they can act as barriers to fluid flow. To model these different possibilities, this paper presents an embedded approach in the context of the finite element method to model the presence of discontinuities inside a porous medium in transient analyses. The formulation is attractive since it does not require the mesh used to discretize the porous medium to conform to the discontinuities. The derivation of the formulation is based on the Strong Discontinuity Approach by enriching the pressure field of the finite element with a Heaviside function. The enriched part of the pressure field is discretized based on the pressure jumps evaluated at the nodes where the discontinuity intersects the finite element. The discontinuity internal pressure is taken as an independent field, allowing the modeling of high pressures inside the discontinuity. A strategy to condense the discontinuity internal pressure degrees of freedom is presented. Numerical examples are presented showing the flexibility of the formulation to capture the influence of discontinuities on the fluid flow in porous medium. Polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PTC) materials with low switching temperature points are crucial for numerous electronic devices, which typically function within the room temperature range (0–40 °C). Ideal polymeric PTC materials for flexible electronic thermal control should possess a room-temperature switching temperature, low room-temperature resistivity, exceptional mechanical flexibility, and adaptive thermal control properties. In this study, a novel PTC material with a room-temperature switching temperature and superb mechanical properties has been designed. A blend of a semi-crystalline polymer EVA with a low melting temperature (Tm) and an amorphous polymer (PVAc) with a low glass transition temperature (Tg) was prepared. Low-cost graphite was chosen as the conductive filler, while CNF was incorporated as a hybrid filler to enhance the material's heating stability. PVAc0.4/EVA0.6/GP-3wt.% CNF exhibited the lowest room temperature resistivity, and its PTC strength (1.1) was comparable to that without CNF addition, with a Curie temperature of 29.4 °C. Room temperature Joule heating tests revealed that PVAc0.4/EVA0.6/GP-3wt.% CNF achieved an equilibrium temperature of approximately 42 °C at 25 V, with a heating power of 3.04 W and a power density of 3.04 W/cm2. The Young's modulus of PVAc0.4/EVA0.6/GP-3wt.% CNF was 9.24 MPa, and the toughness value was 1.68 MJ/m3, indicating that the elasticity and toughness of the composites were enhanced after mixing the fillers, and the mechanical properties of the composites were improved by blending graphite with CNF. Currently, coating with anti-reflective materials is an attractive approach to improve the quality of screen-based displays. In this study, mesoporous silica particles were systematically synthesized as a function of surfactant (i.e., CTAC-cetyltrimethylammonium chloride) concentration to serve as main coating fillers possessing low refractive indices. Precisely changing the amount of the CTAC surfactant, silica sol with an average diameter of 50 nm exhibits distinctively different specific surface areas, pore size, and pore volume. Prior to the preparation of final coating solutions containing these silica particle fillers, the percentage of solid content was optimized on a glass slide. The use of 50 wt% solid content exhibited the highest transmittance of light. Among various content levels of silica sol, the use of 3.5 wt% of silica particles in the solid content displayed the highest transmittance (i.e., best anti-reflectiveness). Under the almost identical coating layers prepared with the fixed amount of silica particles possessing different surface areas, pore size, and pore volume, it appears that the largest pore volume played the most important role in improving the anti-reflective properties. Experimentally understanding the key feature of low-refractive filler materials under the optimized conditions could provide a clear view to develop highly effective anti-reflective materials for various display applications. The 1-3 piezoelectric composite is the key component of the acoustic transducer, which is widely used in detection, due to the high energy conversion efficiency, cheap raw material, and low aging. To reveal the influence of epoxy mixture, used to connect the piezoelectric column, on the composite performance, a 1-3 piezoelectric composite model was built. The effects of mixture properties on the impedance curves, vibration mode, and deformation displacement of the composite were determined. Six 1-3 piezoelectric composites with different filling mixture properties, by changing the glass microspheres' mass ratio in the epoxy, were prepared and measured to validate the model. The results showed that with the increase in the proportion of the glass microsphere in the epoxy mixture, the vibration coupling of the piezoelectric composites was gradually eliminated. The acoustic impedance was reduced by 12%. The electromechanical coupling coefficient and effective electromechanical coupling coefficient were increased by 5.4% and 8.3%, respectively. Glass ionomer cement (GIC) is composed of anionic polyacrylic acid and a silica-based inorganic powder. GIC is used as a filling material in the decayed cavity of the tooth; therefore, compatibility with the tooth tissue is essential. In the present study, we aimed to improve the histocompatibility of GIC by introducing nano-hydroxyapatite (nHA), a component of teeth, into a silica-based inorganic powder. CFAS-nHA was prepared by chemically bonding nanorod hydroxyapatite (nHA) to the surface of calciumfluoroaluminosilicate (CFAS). The synthesis of CFAS-nHA was confirmed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The prepared CFAS-nHA was mixed with polyacrylic acid and cured to prepare GIC containing nHA (GIC-nHA). Cytocompatibility tests of GIC-nHA and GIC were performed using osteoblasts. Osteoblast activity and bone formation ability were superior after GIC-nHA treatment than after control GIC treatment. This enhanced histocompatibility is believed to be due to the improvement of the biological activity of osteoblasts induced by the HA introduced into the GIC. Therefore, to enhance its compatibility with dental tissues, GIC could be manufactured by chemically bonding nHA to the surface of GI inorganic powder. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hollow silica nanoparticles (HSNPs) have hygroscopic properties because of their high specific surface area and surface hydroxyl groups. However, compared with other hygroscopic materials, their hygroscopic properties are relatively weak, which limits the further application of HSNPs. One feasible method to enhance their hygroscopic properties is by combining highly hygroscopic materials with hollow silica nanoparticles. To take advantage of the high hygroscopicity of polyacrylic acid (PAA) when combined with the high specific surface area of the hollow particles, PAA was coated on the inner and outer surfaces of the silica shell of the nanoparticles in this study to prepare hollow nanoparticles with a PAA/silica/PAA multilayer structure. The size of the PAA/silica/PAA multi-layer nanoparticles is about 85 nm, and the shell thickness is 25 nm. The specific surface area of the multi-layer nanoparticles is 58 m2/g. The water vapor adsorption capacity of multi-layer structure hollow nanoparticles was increased by 160% compared with the HSNPs (increased from 45.9 cm3/m2 to 109.1 cm3/m2). Meanwhile, at the same content of PAA, the PAA/silica/PAA-structured particles will adsorb 9% more water vapor than the PAA/silica-structured particles. This indicates that the high specific surface area structure of the hollow particles will enhance the adsorption ability of PAA toward water vapor. A novel UV-light-curable poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate matrix composite material with unmodified and methacryloxyl-grafted TiO2 and TiO2-ZrO2 systems was developed and tested as a potential coating material for medical components. The main goal of the research was to evaluate how the addition of (un)modified inorganic oxide fillers affects the properties of the composition (viscosity, UV/Vis spectra), the kinetics of photocuring (photo-DSC), and the morphological (SEM), physicochemical, and thermal properties (DSC, TGA) of the resulting composites. The applied filler functionalization process decreased their polarity and changed their size, BET surface area, and pore volume, which influenced the viscosity and kinetics of the photocurable system. In addition, the addition of synthesized fillers reduced the polymer's glass transition temperature and increased its thermal stability. It was also observed that additional UV irradiation of the tested composite changed its surface, resulting in hydrophobic properties (with the addition of 7 wt.% filler, an increase in the contact angle by more than 45% was observed). Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the Tagger technique and the lateral condensation technique with different obturation cements in achieving optimal apical sealing in endodontic treatments. Methods: An in vitro study was conducted on 68 extracted human upper or lower first premolars. Teeth were randomly divided into four experimental groups (n=17) based on two obturation techniques and endodontic sealers employed, as follows: Group 1, Tagger technique with the zinc oxide-eugenol sealer; Group 2, Tagger technique with the resin-based sealer; Group 3, lateral condensation technique with zinc oxide-eugenol sealer, and Group 4, lateral condensation technique with resin-based sealer. Homogeneity of the gutta-percha mass and apical obliteration were evaluated under a digital stereomicroscope. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test, and a P-value<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Most group specimens exhibited non-homogeneous gutta-percha, whereas apical obliteration was achieved in a significant proportion of samples across all groups. No significant difference was found between the study groups either in the homogeneity of the gutta-percha mass (P=0.978) or in the optimal apical obliteration (P=0.782). Conclusions: The study found no significant difference in the effectiveness of the Tagger hybrid and lateral condensation techniques using different sealers in achieving optimal apical sealing and gutta-percha homogeneity. Objective: This study compared the retrievability of an epoxy resin-based sealer (AH26) and an MTA-based sealer (EndoSeal MTA) following root canal retreatment. Methods: Twenty-six extracted single-rooted human maxillary central incisors were prepared up to size F3 using the Denco Super Files III rotary system. The teeth were randomly assigned to two groups and obturated with either AH26 or EndoSeal MTA sealers, employing a single-cone technique for all samples. After one week of storage in distilled water, the filling materials were removed by Denco super files III rotary system. The residual sealer was evaluated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at x800 and x2000 magnifications. The statistical analysis was done by Twoway ANOVA, and a P-value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Under the two magnifications, both the type of utilized sealer and the root section assessed had a significant effect on the percentage of remaining sealer (P<0.05), but the interaction was not significant (P>0.05). The overall percentage of residual sealer was significantly lower in the EndoSeal MTA group compared to the AH26 groups as assessed under x800 (P=0.08) and x2000 (P=0.012) magnifications. In each group, the percentage of residual sealer was significantly greater in the apical than in the coronal third. Conclusions: The residual sealer in the AH26 group was greater than that in the EndoSeal MTA in all three root sections. To solve the problems of brittleness, high cost, and the complicated construction process of traditional filling materials for filling abandoned roadways, various aspects of the physical and mechanical properties of the materials were studied using laboratory tests and were applied in coal mines. The research shows that the self-developed inorganic cementitious filling material has the advantages of being low cost, easy to cut and wash, and having good filling performance. A foaming agent is a direct factor in controlling the volume expansion of inorganic cementitious filling materials; the increase in the volume of slurry foaming with the addition of a foaming agent initially showed a large and then a small trend with a foaming agent dosage of 100 g. The increase in the volume of slurry foaming is the largest at 56.28%. The effect of the B material (calcium stearate+ J85 rapid-setting agent) on the foaming time and the number of foaming times of the slurry was significant. Foam stabilizers in the B material make the slurry particles uniformly distributed inside the slurry, while quick-setting agents control the initial and final setting time by affecting the slurry setting speed. The water/cement ratio directly affects the foaming times of the slurry but has little effect on the foaming time and setting speed. When the water/cement ratio is less than 1:2, the slurry foaming effect is poor, and the foaming volume remains unchanged. The strength of the material is significantly affected by the proportion of B material and the amount of blowing agent, and the compressive strength of materials with different compositions and ratios varies greatly. Endodontic retreatment is a procedure to remove root canal filling material from the tooth, followed by cleaning, shaping, and obturation of the canals. Treatment outcomes may be influenced by incomplete removal of filling materials. The present literature review aimed to identify the techniques and materials used to remove Bioceramic Sealers (BCS) from the root canal system using Micro-Computed Tomography (Micro-CT) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). A search of the PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases using applicable keywords such as "BCS" and "calcium silicate-based sealer" and "retreatment" and "retreatability" and "micro-CT" and "SEM" identified studies on techniques and materials used to remove BCSs from the root canal system, as assessed by micro-CT and SEM. A total of 46 studies were included in the review. Of these, 32 studies used Nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary instruments, 11 used reciprocating systems, and three compared continuous nickel-titanium rotary and reciprocating systems with rotary systems and reciprocation in removing filling materials. Apical patency and Working Length (WL) could be achieved in a canal obturated with gutta-percha and a BCS. The review revealed that removing filling materials using various instrumentation protocols can be successful but incomplete. Both rotary and reciprocating systems can efficiently remove root-filling material. Using supplemental techniques can improve the cleanliness of the root canal during retreatment. Solvents require less time to reach the WL and achieve patency; however, they leave a larger amount of residual root canal-filling material than non solvents. The aluminum alloy AlSi5Cu2Mg finds application in the production of high-stress cylinder head castings. The AlSi5Cu2Mg alloy is specific for its high susceptibility to hot tearing. One effective way to reduce the susceptibility of Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloys to hot tearing is by grain refining. The AlSi5Cu2Mg alloy is designed with a specific chemical composition that significantly limits the Ti content to a maximum of 0.03 wt.%. This limitation practically limits the use of standard Al-Ti-B-based refiners. The present work focuses on the investigation of the influence of graded Ti addition on the susceptibility of the AlSi5Cu2Mg alloy to hot tearing. The Ti addition was deliberately chosen beyond the manufacturer's recommendation (0.1, 0.2, 0.3 wt.%). The solidification process of the experimental alloys with Ti addition was evaluated in this research. On the basis of the thermal analysis, it was shown that due to the addition of Ti, the solidification interval of the AlSi5Cu2Mg alloy increases. An increase in the solidification interval is often associated with an increase in the susceptibility to tearing. The susceptibility of the experimental alloys to hot tearing was evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on the quantitative and qualitative evaluation, it was shown that the addition of Ti reduces the susceptibility of the AlSi5Cu2Mg alloy to hot tearing. A positive refining effect of Ti on the primary α-(Al) phase was demonstrated by microstructural evaluation. Based on this research, it was shown that despite the increase in the solidification interval due to the addition of Ti, the susceptibility of the aluminum alloy to the formation of hot tears is reduced due to the better filling of the material in the interdendritic spaces. Hollow floors are widely used in structures with a large span that bear a large load. In this study, we propose a hollow floor with built-in corrugated pipes as a filling material that has the advantages of a lighter weight, higher stiffness, and lower cost than traditional floors. We first propose a novel form of stiffness by coupling the anisotropies of the material and the structure. This concept is then used to develop a theoretical formula to compute the deflection of a hollow slab set using corrugated pipes on simply supported and fixed constraints on opposite sides. We then use static loading tests to show that this hollow slab has excellent ductility and load-bearing capacity. Following this, we design a mixed finite element model of the hollow slab to predict its deflection by considering concrete, steel, and corrugated tubes. We then use six reference points on the hollow slab to verify the model in comparison with the results of the static loading test and the theoretical formula. The results show that while the maximum deformation occurred at point a1 in the middle of the slab, the maximum errors among the results of the theoretical formula, static loading tests, and the finite element model occurred at point a2. The maximum and minimum errors between the results of the theoretical prediction and the outcomes of the static loading test were 9.09% and 0%, while those between the results of the theoretical prediction and the finite element model were 8.92% and 1.19%, respectively. Although quartz powder is a common concrete filling material, the importance and originality of this study lies in the development of a hydration model for quartz powder–cement binary mixtures and the adoption of this model to predict the development of concrete material properties. The purpose of this study is to use this model to promote the material design of environmentally friendly concrete and to elucidate the relationships in the development of the various properties of quartz powder concrete. The method used in this study was as follows: The parameters of the hydration model were obtained through seven days of hydration heat experiments. The hydration heat up to 28 days was also calculated, and the various properties of the concrete were predicted from the heat of hydration. The main findings of this study were as follows: (1) The ultimate hydration heat released per gram of cement for the different quartz powder substitution rates and quartz powder particle fineness was the same, at 390.145 J/g cement, as was the shape index of the hydration model at −1.003. (2) Moreover, through the model calculations, we found that, at the twenty-eighth day of the curing period for the quartz powder specimens with different quartz powder substitution amounts and different fineness, the reaction level of the cement was similar, at 0.963, as were the values of the cumulative heat of hydration, with both at 375.5 J/g cement. Ternary blended cements, made with silica fume and limestone, provide significant benefits such as improved compressive strength, chloride penetration resistance, sulfates attack, etc. Furthermore, they could be considered low-carbon cements, and they contribute to reducing the depletion of natural resources in reference to water usage, fossil fuel consumption, and mining. Limestone (10%, 15%, and 20%) with different fineness and coarse silica fume (3%, 5%, and 7%) was used to produce ternary cements. The average size of coarse silica fume used was 238 μm. For the first time, the carbonation resistance of ternary Portland cements made with silica fume and limestone has been assessed. The carbonation resistance was assessed by natural carbonation testing. The presence of coarse silica fume and limestone in the blended cement led to pore refinement of the cement-based materials by the filling effect and the C-S-H gel formation. Polypropylene fiber was equally mixed into alkali-activated slag fly ash geopolymer in order to ensure the filling effect of mine goaf and improve the stability of cemented gangue paste filling material with ecological matrix. Triaxial compression tests were then conducted under various conditions. The mechanical properties and damage characteristics of composite paste filling materials are studied, and the damage evolution model of paste filling materials under triaxial compression is established, based on the deviatoric stress-strain curve generated by the progressive failure behavior of samples. Internal physical and chemical mechanisms of the evolution of structure and characteristics are elucidated and comprehended via the use of SEM-EDS and XRD micro-techniques. The results show that the fiber can effectively improve the ultimate strength and the corresponding effective stress strength index of the sample within the scope of the experimental study. The best strengthening effect is achieved when the amount of NaOH is 3% of the mass of the solid material, the amount of fiber is 5‰ of the mass of the solid material, and the length of the fiber is about 12 mm. The action mode of the fiber in the sample is mainly divided into single-grip anchoring and three-dimensional mesh traction. As the crack initiates and develops, connection occurs in the matrix, where the fiber has an obvious interference and retardation effect on the crack propagation, thereby transforming the brittle failure into a ductile failure and consequently improving the fracture properties of the ecological cementitious coal gangue matrix. The theoretical damage evolution model of a segmented filling body is constructed by taking the initial compaction stage end point as the critical point, and the curve of the damage evolution model of the specimen under different conditions is obtained. The theoretical model is verified by the results from the triaxial compression test. We concluded that the experimental curve is in good agreement with the theoretical curve. Therefore, the established theoretical model has a certain reference value for the analysis and evaluation of the mechanical properties of paste filling materials. As one of the emerging nanomaterials, boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) provide promising opportunities for diverse applications due to their unique properties, such as high thermal conductivity, immense inertness, and high-temperature durability, while the instability of BNNTs due to their high surface induces agglomerates susceptible to the loss of their advantages. Therefore, the proper functionalization of BNNTs is crucial to highlight their fundamental characteristics. Herein, a simplistic low-cost approach of BNNT surface modification through catechol-polyamine (CAPA) interfacial polymerization is postulated to improve its dispersibility on the polymeric matrix. The modified BNNT was assimilated as a filler additive with AlN/Al2O3 filling materials in a PDMS polymeric matrix to prepare a thermal interface material (TIM). The resulting composite exhibits a heightened isotropic thermal conductivity of 8.10 W/mK, which is a ~47.27% increase compared to pristine composite 5.50 W/mK, and this can be ascribed to the improved BNNT dispersion forming interconnected phonon pathways and the thermal interface resistance reduction due to its augmented compatibility with the polymeric matrix. Moreover, the fabricated composite manifests a fire resistance improvement of ~10% in LOI relative to the neat composite sample, which can be correlated to the thermal stability shift in the TGA and DTA data. An enhancement in thermal permanence is stipulated due to a melting point (Tm) shift of ∼38.5 °C upon the integration of BNNT-CAPA. This improvement can be associated with the good distribution and adhesion of BNNT-CAPA in the polymeric matrix, integrated with its inherent thermal stability, good charring capability, and free radical scavenging effect due to the presence of CAPA on its surface. This study offers new insights into BNNT utilization and its corresponding incorporation into the polymeric matrix, which provides a prospective direction in the preparation of multifunctional materials for electric devices. In order to solve the ecological environment pollution caused by a large amount of coal gangue accumulation and the problems of poor conveying performance and low support strength of paste filling materials. Based on the standard slump test and uniaxial compressive strength test, the slump and compressive strength (post-coagulation) of gangue paste under different aggregate size aggregations were obtained through orthogonal experiments in this study. The results show that the slump of the gangue filling paste with four types of aggregate size gradations is negatively correlated with the mass fraction, and the slump of the filling paste with a coarser aggregate content is more obviously affected by the mass fraction The increase of fine aggregate content has a significant impact on the compressive strength of the filling paste, which shows a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. When the mixing ratio of coarse aggregate and fine aggregate is 5:5, the compressive strength of the paste reaches the best. In addition, different proportions of aggregate mixing cause the filling paste to form different skeleton structures, including the skeleton void structure at 7:3 or 6:4, the skeleton dense structure at 5:5, and the skeleton suspension structure at 4:6, which are decisive for the final performance of the paste. By analyzing the experimental results of the compressive strength and slump of the gangue filling paste, it was found that the relationship between the compressive strength and slump of the gangue filling paste is a power index function. Through data fitting, it was found that the regression coefficient of the fitting function is no less than 0.97, and the fitting effect is good for evaluating the strength of the filling paste under the aggregate size grading. The filling efficiency during the hot embossing process at micro scale is essential for micro-component replication. The presence of the unfilled area is often due to the inadequate behavior law applied to the embossed materials. This research consists of the identification of viscoplastic law (two-layer viscoplastic model) of polymers and the optimization of processing parameters. Mechanical tests have been performed for two polymers at 20 °C and 30 °C above their glass transition temperature. The viscoplastic parameters are characterized based on stress–strain curves from the compression tests. The influences of imposed displacement, temperature, and friction on mold filling are investigated. The processing parameters are optimized to achieving the complete filling of micro cavities. The replication of a micro-structured cavity has been effectuated using this process and the experimental observations validate the results in the simulation, which confirms the efficiency of the proposed numerical approach. In pediatric dentistry, the enduring success of root-end filling materials employed for the establishment of apical plugs in immature teeth undergoing endodontic intervention is contingent upon their possessing a robust osteoinductive capacity. Hence, the primary objective of this study was to histologically assess the osteoinductive potential of four distinct dental materials, specifically recommended for retrograde filling applications, utilizing an animal hard tissue model. Within the designed experimental model, two bone defects measuring 2 mm in diameter and 2 mm in depth were created in both femurs of a cohort comprising 21 male Wistar albino rats. The first defect in the right femur was left blank as the control group, and Neo MTA Plus was placed in the second defect. The EndoSequence BCRRM Fast Set Putty was placed in the first of the defects on the left femur, and Endo Repair was placed in the second defect. Subjects were sacrificed after 7, 14, and 28 days of follow-up, and sections were examined to assess the degree of inflammation, connective tissue formation, and new bone formation. The data were statistically evaluated with Kruskal‒Wallis and post hoc Dunn's tests using SPSS 12 software. The bone healing levels of the Neo MTA Plus group were significantly higher than those of the other groups in all periods (p < 0.05). Bone organization in all groups decreased over time, and fibrous tissue was enriched. The results of this study demonstrate that NeoMta Plus has superior osteoinductive properties compared to other materials but that EndoSequence and Endo Repair have the potential to be developed. The reasonable filling performance of backfill is a prerequisite for the promotion and application of end slope filling mining in open-pit mines. A four-factor, three-stage test was designed to investigate the effects of aggregate gradation, cement-to-sand ratio, fly ash content, and slurry concentration on the working and mechanical properties of backfill. The filling body aggregate originated from the stripping waste rock of an open-pit mine. The main rocks were fine sandstone, marl and mudstone. Results show that, slump is primarily influenced by slurry concentration, aggregate gradation, fly ash content and cement-sand ratio. The 7-day compressive strength is mainly affected by the cement-sand ratio, slurry concentration, fly ash content, and aggregate gradation. The influence on 28-day compressive strength decreases in the following order: cement-sand ratio, aggregate gradation, fly ash content, and slurry concentration. After comprehensive analysis, the optimal ratios are determined as follows: aggregate gradation of 0.4, cement-sand ratio 1:6, fly ash content 20%, and slurry concentration 72%. Duplex stainless steels are materials with high performance under mechanical stress and stress corrosion in chloride ion environments. Despite being used in many new applications such as components for offshore drilling platforms as well as in the chemical and petrochemical industry, the automotive industry, etc., they face issues of wear and hardness that limit current applications and prevent the creation of new use opportunities. To address these shortcomings, it is proposed to develop a hardfacing process by a special welding technique using a universal TIG source adapted for manual welding with a pulsed current, and a manganese austenitic alloy electrode as filler material. The opportunity to deposit layers of manganese austenitic steel through welding creates advantages related to the possibility of achieving high mechanical characteristics of this steel exclusively in the working area of the part, while the substrate material will not undergo significant changes in chemical composition. As a result of the high strain hardening rate, assisted mainly by mechanical twinning, manganese austenitic alloys having a face-centered cubic crystal lattice (f.c.c) and low stacking fault energy (SFE = 20–40 mJ/m2) at room temperature, exhibit high wear resistance and exceptional toughness. Following cold deformation, the hardness of the deposited metal increases to 465 HV5–490 HV5. The microstructural characteristics were investigated through optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Vickers hardness measurements (HV). Introduction: Recent advancements in dental materials have led to the development of various restorative cements. The amalgamation of various biomimetic cements becomes necessary to improve the physico-chemical properties of the existing cements. Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) Plus and Chitosan are two such materials which are combined and chosen to check their effects on dental stem cell adhesion and proliferation. Aim: To compare and evaluate the cell adhesion and proliferation of human dental pulp stem cells on MTA Plus, MTA Plus-Chitosan Conjugate, and Chitosan by directly culturing the cells on the materials. Materials and Methods: This in-vitro study was conducted at the Central Research Laboratory in Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, S.D.M College of Dental Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka, India over a period of 1.5 years from the month of June 2020 to December 2021. The samples were divided into four groups: Group A-MTA Plus mixed with the proprietary gel (9 specimens), Group B-MTA Plus mixed with 2% Chitosan gel (9 specimens), Group C-2% Chitosan Gel (9 specimens), and Group D-Control Group (Growth Medium). Non carious extracted permanent human premolars for orthodontic purposes were collected and sectioned for the extraction of pulp tissue. The tissue was placed in a basic medium Dulbecco modified essential medium-High Glucose (DMEM-HG). Dental Pulp Stem Cells were subjected to differentiation using differentiation media (Hi-Media) containing Dexamethasone. Cell proliferation and viability were checked using trypan blue, and cell adhesion was checked using crystal violet under an inverted light microscope. To evaluate if there were any changes in the proliferation of viable cells at 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours among different materials, the Wilcoxon's Signed-rank Test was used. Statistical significance was set at p=0.05. Results: The cells were able to adhere to the biomaterial and showed a spindle-shaped morphology, which was observed under the inverted light microscope. ALP activity was measured using a photometer after cell differentiation. MTA Plus-Chitosan conjugate showed a 94% increase in cell proliferation after 48 hours (n=86/91). MTA Plus showed a 91% increase in cell proliferation after 48 hours (n=109/120). Conclusion: Chitosan can be used as a vehicle with MTA since their conjugate showed greater proliferation activity after stem cell culture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Composites based on polysulfone materials filled with various types of graphite and carbon black were studied and a solution technique was used to create composite materials with filling degrees ranging from 30 to 70% by weight. High filling levels with graphite fillers enabled thermal conductivity of 17.4 W/m·K to be achieved. The addition of carbon black as a filler to the composite helped to improve its mechanical characteristics, and its influence on electrical and thermal conductivity has also been explored. Natural graphite provides the best effect on composite thermal and electrical properties, whereas using artificial graphite allows to improve the mechanical behavior of composites.
