In an era overwhelmed by academic big data, students grapple with identifying academic papers that resonate with their learning objectives and research interests, due to the sheer volume and complexity of available information. This study addresses the challenge by proposing a novel academic paper recommendation system designed to enhance personalized learning through the nuanced understanding of academic social networks. Utilizing the theory of social homogeneity, the research first constructs a sophisticated academic social network, capturing high-order social relationships, such as co-authorship and advisor–advisee connections, through hypergraph modeling and advanced network representation learning techniques. The methodology encompasses the development and integration of a hypergraph convolutional neural network and a contrastive learning framework to accurately model and recommend academic papers, focusing on aligning with students' unique preferences and reducing reliance on sparse interaction data. The findings, validated across multiple real-world datasets, demonstrate a significant improvement in recommendation accuracy, particularly in addressing the cold-start problem and effectively mapping advisor–advisee relationships. Background: The advent of Personalized Medicine (PM) holds significant promise in revolutionizing healthcare by tailoring treatments to individual patients based on their data. However, its successful implementation requires the seamless integration of innovative technologies and presents formidable challenges in terms of sustainability. To tackle these challenges head-on, the International Consortium for Personalized Medicine (ICPerMed) was established, and the IC2PerMed project, as part of this consortium, seeks to foster collaboration between the European Union (EU) and China in the field of Personalized Medicine. Based on the results collected by the project, the objective of this study is to discern the key priorities for the implementation of Personalised Medicine concerning Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Big Data and digital solutions, with a particular emphasis on data management and protection. Methods: A Delphi survey was conducted to gather expert's consensus on the main priorities for actions on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Big Data and digital solutions in the field of Personalized Medicine. Results: The survey identified seven priorities in the area of Big Data and digital solutions, including data interoperability, standards, security measures, and international partnerships. Additionally, twelve priorities were identified for the innovation-to-market process, emphasizing cost-effectiveness, need assessment, and value definition in resource allocation. Conclusions: The effective implementation of new technologies in Personalized Medicine research and practice is essential for the advancement of healthcare systems in both the European and Chinese contexts. The identified priorities play a pivotal role in promoting the sustainability of health systems and driving innovation in the implementation of Personalized Medicine. Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) can radically change almost every aspect of the human experience. In the medical field, there are numerous applications of AI and subsequently, in a relatively short time, significant progress has been made. Cardiology is not immune to this trend, this fact being supported by the exponential increase in the number of publications in which the algorithms play an important role in data analysis, pattern discovery, identification of anomalies, and therapeutic decision making. Furthermore, with technological development, there have appeared new models of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DP) that are capable of exploring various applications of AI in cardiology, including areas such as prevention, cardiovascular imaging, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and many others. In this sense, the present article aims to provide a general vision of the current state of AI use in cardiology. Results: We identified and included a subset of 200 papers directly relevant to the current research covering a wide range of applications. Thus, this paper presents AI applications in cardiovascular imaging, arithmology, clinical or emergency cardiology, cardiovascular prevention, and interventional procedures in a summarized manner. Recent studies from the highly scientific literature demonstrate the feasibility and advantages of using AI in different branches of cardiology. Conclusions: The integration of AI in cardiology offers promising perspectives for increasing accuracy by decreasing the error rate and increasing efficiency in cardiovascular practice. From predicting the risk of sudden death or the ability to respond to cardiac resynchronization therapy to the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism or the early detection of valvular diseases, AI algorithms have shown their potential to mitigate human error and provide feasible solutions. At the same time, limits imposed by the small samples studied are highlighted alongside the challenges presented by ethical implementation; these relate to legal implications regarding responsibility and decision making processes, ensuring patient confidentiality and data security. The paper reports findings from a study that examining how cross-platform social media analysis can help to map the digital discourse on sustainable mobility and sustainable transport, and enhance the understanding of sociotechnical low-carbon transport transitions. Using the hashtag search queries #sustainabletransport and #sustainablemobility, 33,121 Tweets (2013–2021) and 8,089 Instagram images including captions (2017/2018–2021) were scraped using the Python modules Twint and Instaloader. Quantitative text and sentiment analyses were applied to the Tweets and image captions. Additionally, an automated machine learning-based image analysis of the Instagram images was conducted using object detection via OpenCV. Synthesized results formed the base for a cross-platform analysis inspired by Rogers' method comprising hot topics/key themes, user mentions, sentiment polarity, and co-hashtags. Notably, electromobility emerged as a prominent theme, particularly on Instagram, while #sustainabletransport was closely associated with active travel, notably bicycling, and #sustainablemobility showcased a dominance of electromobility discourse. The study demonstrates the investigative potentials of cross-platform social media analysis studies to enhance the understanding of sociotechnical low-carbon transport transitions. Water constitutes an indispensable resource crucial for the sustenance of humanity, as it plays an integral role in various sectors such as agriculture, industrial processes, and domestic consumption. Even though water covers 71% of the global land surface, governments have been grappling with the challenge of ensuring the provision of safe water for domestic use. A contributing factor to this situation is the persistent contamination of available water sources rendering them unfit for human consumption. A common contaminant, pesticides are not frequently tested for despite their serious effects on biodiversity. Pesticide determination in water quality assessment is a challenging task because the procedures involved in the extraction and detection are complex. This reduces their popularity in many monitoring campaigns despite their harmful effects. If the existing methods of pesticide analysis are adapted by leveraging new technologies, then information concerning their presence in water ecosystems can be exposed. Furthermore, beyond the advantages conferred by the integration of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML), and big data analytics, a notable outcome is the attainment of a heightened degree of granularity in the information of water ecosystems. Developing and executing large-scale data analysis applications in parallel and distributed environments can be a complex and time-consuming task. Developers often find themselves diverted from their application logic to handle technical details about the underlying runtime and related issues. To simplify this process, ParSoDA, a Java library, has been proposed to facilitate the development of parallel data mining applications executed on HPC systems. It simplifies the process by providing built-in scalability mechanisms relying on the Hadoop and Spark frameworks. This paper presents ParSoDA-Py, the Python version of the ParSoDA library, which allows for further support of commonly used runtimes and libraries for big data analysis. After a complete library redesign, ParSoDA can be now easily integrated with other Python-based distributed runtimes for HPC systems, such as COMPSs and Apache Spark, and with the large ecosystem of Python-based data processing libraries. In order to understand the application of iot Big data information acquisition for heating control systems, a research on iot Big data information acquisition for thermal storage heating control systems is proposed. This paper first analyzes the shortcomings of the traditional heating system, the heating data is scattered and difficult to collect. The IoT technology is applied to the heating platform through data acquisition, data visualization, data mining, data management and other aspects. Secondly, the application of the IoT in heating system data acquisition is studied, including the types of heating data collected, data acquisition process, data acquisition standards, etc. Finally, this paper takes the energy-saving transformation of 26 boilers in a heating enterprise as an example. The research results show that the boiler efficiency obtained in real time by using the online monitoring system of this project is 95.36%, and the reverse balance boiler efficiency in the paper report of the special inspection office is 94.88%, with a deviation of 1.48%. The application of the IoT technology can obtain the boiler indicators in real time and effectively, and can realize the comprehensive analysis of the monitoring data, and realize the evaluation of the energy efficiency operation state of the gas boiler and the fault diagnosis and early warning. Recently uncertainty analysis and its characterization have become more complex due to dark data sets. It has become more crucial in the education sector where a large number of dark datasets are generated, related to measuring student performance. This becomes more complex while dealing with linguistic information and its significance in student performance measurement. One reason for this is that these types of data are based on human quantum Turiyam consciousness and sometimes in an unconscious way. To deal with these types of dark data generated in unconscious way, this paper tries to introduce the linguistic Quadripartitioned single-valued neutrosophic set (LQSVNS). It defines each object of the universe by four independent linguistic variables known as truth, contradiction, unknown, and false. Some operations and properties based on LQSVNNs are extensively studied in this paper using a combination of soft set (SS) known as the linguistic Quadripartitioned single-valued neutrosophic soft set (LQSVNSS). Modern electrical power systems are characterized by a high rate of transient processes, the use of digital monitoring and control systems, and the accumulation of a large amount of technological information. The active integration of renewable energy sources contributes to reducing the inertia of power systems and changing the nature of transient processes. As a result, the effectiveness of emergency control systems decreases. Traditional emergency control systems operate based on the numerical analysis of power system dynamic models. This allows for finding the optimal set of preventive commands (solutions) in the form of disconnections of generating units, consumers, transmission lines, and other primary grid equipment. Thus, the steady-state or transient stability of a power system is provided. After the active integration of renewable sources into power systems, traditional emergency control algorithms became ineffective due to the time delay in finding the optimal set of control actions. Currently, machine learning algorithms are being developed that provide high performance and adaptability. This paper contains a meta-analysis of modern emergency control algorithms for power systems based on machine learning and synchronized phasor measurement data. It describes algorithms for determining disturbances in the power system, selecting control actions to maintain transient and steady-state stability, stability in voltage level, and limiting frequency. This study examines 53 studies piled on the development of a methodology for analyzing the stability of power systems based on ML algorithms. The analysis of the research is carried out in terms of accuracy, computational latency, and data used in training and testing. The most frequently used textual mathematical models of power systems are determined, and the most suitable ML algorithms for use in the operational control circuit of power systems in real time are determined. In order to solve the problem of strain modal identification under strain monitoring signals with poor vibration modal information, this paper proposes a strain mode identification method with statistical stability significance. This method removes noise, vehicle-induced effects, and temperature effects from the original dynamic strain signal, retaining only vibration-related components, and obtaining a statistically stable high quality bridge strain power spectrum, thereby identifying high quality strain mode parameters. Furthermore, in order to verify the confidence level of the strain modes obtained by this method, this paper adopts the interval estimation method to estimate the power spectrum, natural frequency, damping ratio, and modal shape after statistical processing. The credibility of strain modes has been estimated by interval estimation. The confidence interval of 95% confidence for each modal parameter is obtained, achieving the confidence-level evaluation of corresponding variable modal parameter identification. In response to practical engineering problems, this paper evaluates the actual bridge data of Tongji Road Bridge in Shanghai, and explains the abnormal phenomena that occurred in the data evaluation based on the measured diseases, verifying the practicality of this method. This paper aims to understand the impact of big data analytics on the retail supply chain. For doing so, we set our context to select the best big data practices amongst the available alternatives based on retail supply chain performance. We have applied TODIM (an acronym in Portuguese for Interactive Multi-criteria Decision Making) for the selection of the best big data analytics tools among the identified nine practices (data science, neural networks, enterprise resource planning, cloud computing, machine learning, data mining, RFID, Blockchain and IoT and Business intelligence) based on seven supply chain performance criteria (supplier integration, customer integration, cost, capacity utilization, flexibility, demand management, and time and value). Shake-table tests of a full-scale 3-story reinforced concrete frame building were performed at the E-Defense facility (Miki City, Japan) as part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Resilience Project. Building data were collected before and after each shake-table experiment, using light detection and ranging (lidar) scanning technology. Three-dimensional point clouds were generated and processed to investigate the damage features that can be extracted, which are important for postdisaster structural assessment purposes. To this end, this paper discusses aspects pertaining to lidar data processing and registration, calculation of residual displacements and interstory drifts, and concrete cracking and spalling identification and measurement. Most notably, this paper deals with very large data sets, processed to extract structural response information at both global and local scales. Limited multiscale work has been done in the past, and the different sets of challenges that arise have typically been addressed separately. Evidently, this gap needs to be filled before lidar can be effectively used in the field for structural assessment applications. A series of examples in which lidar data are processed and analyzed to assess specific structural components is illustrated, showing that point cloud data can indeed be processed to obtain measurements of global residual drifts or of the extent of visible damage (e.g., crack width and spalling). Although preliminary in nature, the results presented in this paper indicate that collecting postdisaster data using terrestrial lidar scanners has the potential to contribute improving how buildings are assessed in the aftermath of seismic events. In the ship information big data system, aiming at the problems such as long time consuming, distortion of thermal map effect and poor tracking or lag in the roaming of map software when the client requests a large amount of historical data from the server and draws heat map in real time, this paper proposes an improved real-time generation strategy of map map of ship history activity. Based on the thermal map generation method with the idea of pixel clustering, this strategy uses the image enhancement algorithm based on nonlinear transformation and pixel complement method to correct and optimize the display distortion problems existing in the head map. On this basis, the dynamic loading and drawing strategy and multi-thread real-time mapping strategy are proposed to generate the heat map of the ship’s historical activities. In recent years, cloud computing technologies have been developed rapidly in this computing world to provide suitable on-demand network access all over the world. A cloud service provider offers numerous types of cloud services to the user. But the most significant issue is how to attain optimal virtual machine (VM) allocation for the user and design an efficient big data storage platform thereby satisfying the requirement of both the cloud service provider and the user. Therefore, this paper presents two novel strategies for optimizing VM resource allocation and cloud storage. An optimized cloud cluster storage service is introduced in this paper using a binarization based on modified fuzzy c-means clustering (BMFCM) algorithm to overcome the negative issues caused by the repetitive nature of the big data traffic. The BMFCM algorithm utilized can be implemented transparently and can also address problems associated with massive data storage. The VM selection is optimized in the proposed work using a hybrid COOT-reverse cognitive fruit fly (RCFF) optimization algorithm. The main aim of this algorithm is to improve the massive big data traffic and storage locality. The CPU utilization, VM power, memory dimension and network bandwidth are taken as the fitness function of the hybrid COOT-RCFF algorithm. When implemented in CloudSim and Hadoop, the proposed methodology offers improvements in terms of completion time, overall energy consumption, makespan, user provider satisfaction and load ratio. With the rapid development of AI and big data mining technologies, computerized medical decision-making has become increasingly prominent. The aim of high-utility pattern mining (HUPM) is to discover meaningful patterns in medical databases that contribute to maximizing the utility from the perspective of diagnosis. However, HUPM pays less attention to the interpretability and explainability of these patterns in medical decision-making scenarios. This paper proposes a novel algorithm called the Improved fuzzy high-utility pattern mining (IF-HUPM) to address this problem. First, the paper applies a fuzzy preprocessing method to divide the fuzzy intervals of a medical quantitative data set, which enhances the fuzziness and interpretability of the data. Next, in the process of IF-HUPM, both fuzzy tree and list structures are employed to calculate fuzzy high-utility values. By combining the characteristics of the one-stage and two-stage algorithms of HUPM, an adaptive-phase Fuzzy HUPM hybrid frame is proposed. In order to enhance market share and competitiveness, large banks are increasingly focusing on promoting marketing strategies. However, the traditional bank marketing strategy often leads to the homogenization of customer demand, making it challenging to distinguish among various products. To address this issue, this paper presents a customer demand learning model based on financial datasets and optimizes the distribution model of bank big data channels through induction to rectify the imbalance in bank customer transaction data. By comparing the prediction models of random forest model and support vector machine (SVM), this paper analyzes the ability of the prediction model based on ensemble learning to significantly enhance the market segmentation of e-commerce banks. The empirical results reveal that the accuracy of random forest model reaches 92%, while the accuracy of SVM model reaches 87%. This indicates that the ensemble learning model has higher accuracy and forecasting ability than the single model. It enables the bank marketing system to implement targeted marketing, effectively maintain the relationship between customers and banks, and significantly improve the success probability of product marketing. Meanwhile, the marketing model based on ensemble learning has achieved a sales growth rate of 20% and improved customer satisfaction by 30%. This demonstrates that the implementation of the ensemble learning model has also significantly elevated the overall marketing level of bank e-commerce services. [Purpose/Significance] In recent years, the national leadership has attached great importance to the inheritance and innovation of China's excellent traditional culture, and the concepts of creative transformation and innovative development are constantly evolving. The Ministry of Science and Technology of China, among six departments, jointly formulated the "Guidelines for Promoting the Deep Integration of Culture and Technology", proposing to form a "cultural and technological integration innovation system covering key areas and critical links, to achieve the goal of in-depth integration of culture and technology". Intangible cultural heritage (ICH), as an essential part of China's excellent traditional culture, plays a crucial role in consolidating the sense of the Chinese national community and enhancing cultural self-confidence. This paper discusses the research paths for the creative transformation and innovative development of ICH in the context of culture and technology integration, emphasizing the significant role of modern technology in promoting the transformation and development of ICH. [Method/Process] The paper first interprets the connotation of "creative transformation and innovative development" in ICH, and clarifies the theoretical foundation and guiding principles of "creative transformation and innovative development" in ICH. It then analyzes the significant contributions of "creative transformation and innovative development" in ICH to society, economy, and cultural diversity, as well as the categorized scenarios of technology empowerment in "creative transformation and innovative development" of ICH. It discusses six types of common key technologies that enable technology-driven "creative transformation and innovative development" in ICH, including digital technology, virtual and augmented reality, big data analysis, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things. Nowadays, computational intelligence-assisted autonomous assessment of education quality has become a more and more general concern in the area of smart education management. As education quality assessment is a complicated process with multiple heterogeneous factors, it remains challenging to make effective assessment using simple information modality and criteria. To deal with this issue, this paper introduces multiscale deep learning, and proposes a novel data-driven autonomous assessment framework for education quality. In particular, four aspects of heterogeneous indicators are selected as the basic indexes and a dilated convolutional neural network structure is formulated to perform multiscale feature extraction. Then, the structural equation is adopted to make multivariate characterization and output the final assessment results. At last, some simulations are carried out on realistic education operation data to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed autonomous assessment framework. Two aspects of findings can be deduced from the results. For one thing, multisource fusion of multiple indicators well makes sense to autonomous education assessment. The layout, scale and spatial form of urban employment centers are important guidelines for the rational layout of public service facilities such as urban transportation, medical care, and education. In this paper, we use Internet cell phone positioning data to identify the workplace and residence of users in the Beijing city area and obtain commuting data of the employed to measure the employment center system in Beijing. Firstly, the employment density distribution is generated using the data of the working places of the employed persons, and the employment centers are identified based on the employment density of Beijing. Then, we use the business registration data of employment centers to measure the industrial diversity within the employment centers by using the ecological Shannon Wiener Diversity Index, and combine the commuting links between employment centers and places of residence to measure the energy level of each employment center, analyze the hinterland and sphere of influence of each center, and finally using the industrial diversity index of employment centers and the average commuting time of employed persons, combined with the K-Means clustering algorithm, to classify the employment centers in Beijing. The employment center identification and classification method based on big data constructed in this study can help solve the limitations of the previous employment center system research in terms of center identification and commuting linkage measurement due to large spatial units and lack of commuting data to a certain extent. The study can provide reference for the regular understanding and technical analysis of employment centers and provide help for the employment multi-center system in Beijing in terms of quantifying the employment spatial structure, guiding the construction of multi-center system, and adjusting the land use rules. The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered a global public health crisis, affecting hundreds of countries. With the increasing number of infected cases, developing automated COVID-19 identification tools based on CT images can effectively assist clinical diagnosis and reduce the tedious workload of image interpretation. To expand the dataset for machine learning methods, it is necessary to aggregate cases from different medical systems to learn robust and generalizable models. This paper proposes a novel deep learning joint framework that can effectively handle heterogeneous datasets with distribution discrepancies for accurate COVID-19 identification. We address the cross-site domain shift by redesigning the COVID-Net's network architecture and learning strategy, and independent feature normalization in latent space to improve prediction accuracy and learning efficiency. Additionally, we propose using a contrastive training objective to enhance the domain invariance of semantic embeddings and boost classification performance on each dataset. We develop and evaluate our method with two large-scale public COVID-19 diagnosis datasets containing CT images. Extensive experiments show that our method consistently improves the performance both datasets, outperforming the original COVID-Net trained on each dataset by 13.27% and 15.15% in AUC respectively, also exceeding existing state-of-the-art multi-site learning methods. The credit risk assessment acts as an important part in daily affairs for financial institutions. But in the era of big data, the growing business volume makes it an urgent demand to develop digital ways of credit risk assessment. Currently, the machine learning is universally employed to establish various data-driven models for this purpose. However, machine learning models generally suffer from limited ability of feature representation and robustness, and cannot deal with more complex financial security scenarios. To deal with this issue, this work introduces ensemble learning to construct a stronger credit risk prediction model via integration of several basic machine learning models. Thus, an ensemble learning-enhanced smart prediction model for financial credit risk is proposed in this paper. Three classification-based machine learning models (support vector machine, artificial neural network and radial basis function) are selected as the basic classifiers, and "voting" strategy is utilized to integrate them into a novel strong classifier. A real-world financial credit dataset released by a Chinese commercial bank was selected as the experimental scenario. Objective: Hospitals and healthcare providers should assess and compare the quality of care given to patients and based on this improve the care. In the Netherlands, hospitals provide data to national quality registries, which in return provide annual quality indicators. However, this process is time-consuming, resource intensive and risks patient privacy and confidentiality. In this paper, we presented a multicentric 'Proof of Principle' study for federated calculation of quality indicators in patients with colorectal cancer. The findings suggest that the proposed approach is highly time-efficient and consume significantly lesser resources. Materials and methods: Two quality indicators are calculated in an efficient and privacy presevering federated manner, by i) applying the Findable Accessible Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data principles and ii) using the Personal Health Train (PHT) infrastructure. Instead of sharing data to a centralized registry, PHT enables analysis by sending algorithms and sharing only insights from the data. Results: ETL process extracted data from the Electronic Health Record systems of the hospitals, converted them to FAIR data and hosted in RDF endpoints within each hospital. Finally, quality indicators from each center are calculated using PHT and the mean result along with the individual results plotted. Discussion and conclusion: PHT and FAIR data principles can efficiently calculate quality indicators in a privacy-preserving federated approach and the work can be scaled up both nationally and internationally. Despite this, application of the methodology was largely hampered by ELSI issues. However, the lessons learned from this study can provide other hospitals and researchers to adapt to the process easily and take effective measures in building quality of care infrastructures. Background: Irregular time series (ITS) are common in healthcare as patient data is recorded in an electronic health record (EHR) system as per clinical guidelines/requirements but not for research and depends on a patient's health status. Due to irregularity, it is challenging to develop machine learning techniques to uncover vast intelligence hidden in EHR big data, without losing performance on downstream patient outcome prediction tasks. Methods: In this paper, we propose Perceiver, a cross-attention-based transformer variant that is computationally efficient and can handle long sequences of time series in healthcare. We further develop continuous patient state attention models, using Perceiver and transformer to deal with ITS in EHR. The continuous patient state models utilise neural ordinary differential equations to learn patient health dynamics, i.e., patient health trajectory from observed irregular time steps, which enables them to sample patient state at any time. Results: The proposed models' performance on in-hospital mortality prediction task on PhysioNet-2012 challenge and MIMIC-III datasets is examined. Perceiver model either outperforms or performs at par with baselines, and reduces computations by about nine times when compared to the transformer model, with no significant loss of performance. Experiments to examine irregularity in healthcare reveal that continuous patient state models outperform baselines. Moreover, the predictive uncertainty of the model is used to refer extremely uncertain cases to clinicians, which enhances the model's performance. With the development of synchrotron radiation sources and high-frame-rate detectors, the amount of experimental data collected at synchrotron radiation beamlines has increased exponentially. As a result, data processing for synchrotron radiation experiments has entered the era of big data. It is becoming increasingly important for beamlines to have the capability to process large-scale data in parallel to keep up with the rapid growth of data. Currently, there is no set of data processing solutions based on the big data technology framework for beamlines. Apache Hadoop is a widely used distributed system architecture for solving the problem of massive data storage and computation. This paper presents a set of distributed data processing schemes for beamlines with experimental data using Hadoop. The Hadoop Distributed File System is utilized as the distributed file storage system, and Hadoop YARN serves as the resource scheduler for the distributed computing cluster. A distributed data processing pipeline that can carry out massively parallel computation is designed and developed using Hadoop Spark. This research paper focuses on the challenges associated with learning classifiers from large-scale, highly imbalanced datasets prevalent in many real-world applications. Traditional algorithms learning often need better performance and high computational efficiency when dealing with imbalanced data. Factors such as class imbalance, noise, and class overlap make it demanding to learn effective classifiers. In this study, we propose a novel self-paced ensemble framework for classifying imbalanced data. The framework employs under-sampling to self-harmonize data hardness and build a robust ensemble. Classifying imbalanced data presents a significant challenge, and many studies have proposed methodologies to address this issue. Among them, Convolutional Neural Networks have demonstrated superior performance for imbalanced image classification. This paper initially employs various data pre-processing methods such as over-sampling, under-sampling, and SMOTE to enhance the original dataset. Subsequently, an Ensemble CNN learning model is used to train and predict the data. In order to comprehensively evaluate models trained on imbalanced data, we used metrics such as Accuracy, Recall, Precision, F1-score, and G-mean. On the CIFAR-10 and Fashion-MNIST datasets, different samples from each category were extracted as imbalanced data for experimental research. Compared to the AdaBoost-DenseNet model, our proposed methodology increases the test accuracy on the CIFAR-10 dataset by 9%. Similarly, the F1-score and G-mean improved by 0.096 and 0.069, respectively. Research on the identification of urban functional regions is of great significance for the understanding of urban structure, spatial planning, resource allocation, and promoting sustainable urban development. However, achieving high-precision urban functional region recognition has always been a research challenge in this field. For this purpose, this paper proposes an urban functional region identification method called ASOE (activity–scene–object–economy), which integrates the features from multi-source data to perceive the spatial differentiation of urban human and geographic elements. First, we utilize VGG16 (Visual Geometry Group 16) to extract high-level semantic features from the remote sensing images with 1.2 m spatial resolution. Then, using scraped building footprints, we extract building object features such as area, perimeter, and structural ratios. Socioeconomic features and population activity features are extracted from Point of Interest (POI) and Weibo data, respectively. Finally, integrating the aforementioned features and using the Random Forest method for classification, the identification results of urban functional regions in the main urban area of Xi'an are obtained. After comparing with the actual land use map, our method achieves an identification accuracy of 91.74%, which is higher than other comparative methods, making it effectively identify four typical urban functional regions in the main urban area of Xi'an (e.g., residential regions, industrial regions, commercial regions, and public regions). The research indicates that the method of fusing multi-source data can fully leverage the advantages of big data, achieving high-precision identification of urban functional regions. The location planning of relief distribution centres (DCs) is crucial in humanitarian logistics as it directly influences the disaster response and service to the affected victims. In light of the critical role of facility location in humanitarian logistics planning, the study proposes a two-stage relief distribution location problem. The first stage of the model determines the minimum number of relief DCs, and the second stage find the optimal location of these DCs to minimize the total cost. To address a more realistic situation, restrictions are imposed on the coverage area and capacity of each DCs. In addition, for optimally solving this complex NP-hard problem, a novel two-phase algorithm with exploration and exploitation phase is developed in the paper. The first phase of the algorithm i.e., exploration phase identifies a near-optimal solution while the second phase i.e. exploitation phase enhances the solution quality through a close circular proximity investigation. Furthermore, the comparative analysis of the proposed algorithm with other well-known algorithms such as genetic algorithm, pattern search, fmincon, multistart and hybrid heuristics is also reported and computationally tested from small to large data sets. In this paper, we present a laser triangulation sensor to measure the distance between the sensor and an object without contact using a diffraction slit rather than a traditional lens. We show that by replacing the lens with a slit, we can exploit the resulting diffraction pattern to have finer and yet simpler image analysis, yielding better estimation of the distance to the object. To test our hypothesis, we build a precision position table and a laser triangulation sensor, generate large data sets to test different estimation algorithms on various materials, and compare data acquisition using a traditional lens versus using a slit. This study explores the influencing factors on intelligent transformation and upgrading of China's logistics firms under smart logistics, and designs the corresponding framework to guide the practice of firms. By analyzing the characteristics of smart logistics and the transformation and upgrading needs of traditional logistics, from the micro perspective of logistics firms, this paper constructs influencing factor index system of smart transformation and development from four dimensions: logistics technology innovation, logistics big data sharing, logistics management upgrading and logistics decision-making transformation. Logistics firms are divided into firms with medium scale and above and small and medium-sized firms according to their scale. Then EWIF-AHP model is proposed to measure the weight of index system and score the decision-making, so as to evaluate the impact of various influencing factors on transformation and development of logistics firms. The results show that, for logistics firms above medium scale, logistics technology innovation and logistics big data sharing have the most significant impact on transformation and development, followed by logistics management upgrading and logistics decision-making transformation. Ephemeral Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) must be powered by some of the most energetic processes in the Universe. That makes them highly interesting in their own right, and as precise probes for estimating cosmological parameters. This field thus poses a unique challenge: FRBs must be detected promptly and immediately localised and studied based only on that single millisecond-duration flash. The problem is that the burst occurrence is highly unpredictable and that their distance strongly suppresses their brightness. Since the discovery of FRBs in single-dish archival data in 2007, detection software has evolved tremendously. Pipelines now detect bursts in real time within a matter of seconds, operate on interferometers, buffer high-time and frequency resolution data, and issue real-time alerts to other observatories for rapid multi-wavelength follow-up. In this paper, we review the components that comprise a FRB search software pipeline, we discuss the proven techniques that were adopted from pulsar searches, we highlight newer, more efficient techniques for detecting FRBs, and we conclude by discussing the proposed novel future methodologies that may power the search for FRBs in the era of big data astronomy. Choice architecture describes the environment in which choices are presented to decision-makers. In recent years, public and private actors have looked at choice architecture with great interest as they seek to influence human behaviour. These actors are typically called choice architects. Increasingly, however, this role of architecting choice is not performed by a human choice architect, but an algorithm or artificial intelligence, powered by a stream of Big Data and infused with an objective it has been programmed to maximise. We call this entity the autonomous choice architect. In this paper, we present an account of why artificial intelligence can fulfil the role of a choice architect and why this creates problems of transparency, responsibility and accountability for nudges. We argue that choice architects, be them autonomous computational systems or human-beings, at a most basic level select, from a range of designs, the design which is most likely to maximise a pre-determined objective. We then proceed to argue that, given the growing demand for targeted, personalised choice architecture and for faster, dynamic reconfigurations of choice architecture, as well as the ever-expanding pool of data from which feedback can be drawn, the role of the human choice architect is increasingly obscured behind algorithmic, artificially intelligent systems. We provide a discussion of the implications of autonomous choice architects, focusing on the importance of the humans who programme these systems, ultimately arguing that despite technological advances, the responsibility of choice architecture and influence remains firmly one human beings must bear. One of the greatest challenges of our time is monitoring the rapid environmental changes taking place worldwide at both local and global scales. This requires easy-to-use and ready-to-implement tools and services to monitor and quantify aspects of bio- and geodiversity change and the impact of land use intensification using freely available and global remotely sensed data, and to derive remotely sensed indicators. Currently, there are no services for quantifying both raster- and vector-based indicators in a "compact tool". Therefore, the main innovation of ESIS/Imalys is having a remote sensing (RS) tool that allows for RS data processing, data management, and continuous and discrete quantification and derivation of RS indicators in one tool. With the ESIS/Imalys project (Ecosystem Integrity Remote Sensing—Modelling and Service Tool), we try to present environmental indicators on a clearly defined and reproducible basis. The Imalys software library generates the RS indicators and remote sensing products defined for ESIS. This paper provides an overview of the functionality of the Imalys software library. An overview of the technical background of the implementation of the Imalys library, data formats and the user interfaces is given. Examples of RS-based indicators derived using the Imalys tool at pixel level and at zone level (vector level) are presented. Furthermore, the advantages and disadvantages of the Imalys tool are discussed in detail in order to better assess the value of Imalys for users and developers. The applicability of the indicators will be demonstrated through three ecological applications, namely: (1) monitoring landscape diversity, (2) monitoring landscape structure and landscape fragmentation, and (3) monitoring land use intensity and its impact on ecosystem functions. Despite the integration of large amounts of data, Imalys can run on any PC, as the processing and derivation of indicators has been greatly optimised. The Imalys source code is freely available and is hosted and maintained under an open source license. Complete documentation of all methods, functions and derived indicators can be found in the freely available Imalys manual. The user-friendliness of Imalys, despite the integration of a large amount of RS data, makes it another important tool for ecological research, modelling and application for the monitoring and derivation of ecosystem indicators from local to global scale. In recent years, various studies have been conducted on SVMs and their applications in different area. They have been developed significantly in many areas. SVM is one of the most robust classification and regression algorithms that plays a significant role in pattern recognition. However, SVM has not been developed significantly in some areas like large-scale datasets, unbalanced datasets, and multiclass classification. Efficient SVM training in large-scale datasets is of great importance in the big data era. However, as the number of samples increases, the time and memory required to train SVM increase, making SVM impractical even for a medium-sized problem. With the emergence of big data, this problem becomes more significant. This paper presents a novel distributed method for SVM training in which a very small subset of training samples is used for classification, which reduces the problem size and thus the required memory and computational resources. The solution of this problem almost converges to standard SVM. This method includes three steps: first, detecting a subset of distributed training samples, second, creating local models of SVM and obtaining partial vectors, and finally combining the partial vectors and obtaining the global vector and the final model. In addition, the datasets which suffer from unbalanced number of samples and tend to the majority class, the proposed method balances the samples of the two classes and it can be used in unbalanced datasets. The impact of artificial intelligence on people’s lives is demonstrated today. Previous literature has shown that the use of a specific technology is directly linked to the individuals’ intention to use it. The aim of this paper is to study the factors that determine the adoption and use of artificial intelligence and big data in Spain, using a research model based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), proposed by Venkatesh et al. (2003). This work addresses the specific gap in the validation of the original theoretical model of UTAUT in two dimensions, with respect to the adoption of artificial intelligence by citizens and with respect to the factors that influence this adoption, evaluating the previous ones and proposing some new ones considering the current context. The methodology used is based on a national survey, and it analyzes the research model using the statistical technique of Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), which details the mediating and moderating relationships between constructs. The results show that Intention to Use has a direct positive influence on the Use of artificial Intelligence and big data, confirming previous literature. Performance Expectancy is the strongest predictor of Intention to Use, and indirectly of the adoption of artificial intelligence and big data applications. Effort Expectancy, in its application to the adoption of AI and big data by citizens, is an indirect determinant mediated by the Intention to Use, but its total effect (direct + indirect) is not significant. Longitudinal data, measurements taken from the same subjects over time, appear routinely in many scientific fields, such as biomedical science, public health, ecology and environmental sciences. With the rapid development of information technology, modern longitudinal data are becoming massive in volume and high dimensional, hence often require distributed analysis in real-world applications. Standard divide-and-conquer techniques do not apply directly to longitudinal big data due to within-subject dependence. In this paper, we focus on developing a distributed algorithm to support quantile regression (QR) analysis of longitudinal big data, which currently remains an open and challenging issue. We employ weighted quantile regression (WQR) to accommodate the correlation in longitudinal big data, and parallelize the WQR estimation process with a two-stage algorithm to support distributed computing. Based on weights estimated in the first stage by the Newton–Raphson algorithm, the second stage solves the WQR problem using the multi-block alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Simulation studies show that, compared to traditional non-distributed algorithms, our proposed method has favorable estimation accuracy and is computationally more efficient in both non-distributed and distributed environments. Black hole X-ray binaries (BHBs) offer insights into extreme gravitational environments and the testing of general relativity. The X-ray spectrum collected by NICER offers valuable information on the properties and behaviour of BHBs through spectral fitting. However, traditional spectral fitting methods are slow and scale poorly with model complexity. This paper presents a new semisupervised autoencoder neural network for parameter prediction and spectral reconstruction of BHBs, showing an improvement of up to a factor of 2700 in speed while maintaining comparable accuracy. The approach maps the spectral features from the numerous outbursts catalogued by NICER and generalizes them to new systems for efficient and accurate spectral fitting. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated in the spectral fitting of BHBs and holds promise for use in other areas of astronomy and physics for categorizing large data sets. Aiming at the difficulties in the quantitative verification and evaluation of underwater countermeasures for our underwater platform and the lack of a guided maneuvering evasive combat model, a prediction model of underwater countermeasures based on big data learning is designed. Firstly, the underwater countermeasure modeling of the underwater platform is carried out, and the large data set of avoidance probability is obtained by several rounds of simulation based on Monte Carlo method. At the same time, in order to solve the problem of poor time efficiency under massive simulation, BP neural network prediction algorithm is proposed for big data learning to provide accurate, fast and visual antagonistic results. The test results show that under the test environment set in this paper, the average prediction error of BP neural network prediction algorithm is 7. 28% respectively, which can effectively predict the avoidance probability of the underwater platform and provide data support for the commander's command decision. In the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle in China, the recommended bearing capacity of a medium-weathering mudstone foundation is less than the capacity of the rock structure to withstand loads. The aim of this paper was to perform plate loading tests (PLTs) with binocular vision measurement (BVM) to obtain the accurate deformation of the foundation under vertical loading. The results revealed that vertical load–bearing foundations have a failure mode that can be reduced to that of thrust failures for thin bedded structures of mudstone foundations. By analyzing the differences in results between the PLTs and the uniaxial compressive strength tests under the same conditions, a new formalism for calculating foundation-bearing capacity was proposed; there is only a 5% difference compared to in situ tests. The results of this research provide theoretical support and a practical benchmark for the full development of the load-bearing capability of soft red rocks. As the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle progresses toward the international urban cluster, inevitably, soft rock is used as a foundation retaining layer in the construction of superhigh and super-rise buildings in the region. However, owing to antiquated testing methods and poor intelligibility of the testing equipment, the bearing capacity of such a mass of rock has yet to be fully developed and cannot meet the dual-carbon economic goals and sustainable development of architectural design. Based on this, the study introduces a noncontact method to measure the bearing capacity of soft rock within the traditional method of in situ testing and combines the concept of big data analysis to advance an empirical method for calculating the bearing capacity accurately. Based on the results of this study, the concept of natural foundations can be adopted and the engineering dilemma that the treatment of building foundations cannot be economical and practical can be solved. Precision medicine is emerging as an integral component in delivering care in the health system leading to better diagnosis and optimizing the treatment of patients. This growth is due to the new technologies in the data science field that have led to the ability to model complex diseases. Precision medicine is based on genomics and omics facilities that provide information about molecular proteins and biomarkers that could lead to discoveries for the treatment of patients suffering from various diseases. However, the main problems related to precision medicine are the ability to analyze, interpret, and integrate data. Hence, there is a lack of smooth transition from conventional to precision medicine. Therefore, this work reviews the limitations and discusses the benefits of overcoming them if big data tools are utilized and merged with precision medicine. The results from this review indicate that most of the literature focuses on the challenges rather than providing flexible solutions to adapt big data to precision medicine. As a result, this paper adds to the literature by proposing potential technical, educational, and infrastructural solutions in big data for a better transition to precision medicine. Transient surveys are a vital tool in exploring the dynamic Universe, with radio transients acting as beacons for explosive and highly energetic astrophysical phenomena. However, performing commensal transient surveys using radio imaging can require a significant amount of computing power, data storage, and time. With the instrumentation available to us, and with new and exciting radio interferometers in development, it is essential that we develop efficient methods to probe the radio transient sky. In this paper, we present results from a commensal short-duration transient survey, on time-scales of 8 s, 128 s, and 1 h, using data from the MeerKAT radio telescope. The data set used was obtained as part of a galaxy observing campaign, and we focus on the field of NGC 5068. We present a quick, wide-field imaging strategy to enable fast imaging of large data sets, and develop methods to efficiently filter detected transient candidates. No transient candidates were identified on the time-scales of 8 s, 128 s, and 1 h, leading to competitive limits on the transient surface densities of |$6.7\, {\times }\, 10^{-5}$|⁠ , |$1.1\, {\times }\, 10^{-3}$|⁠ , and |$3.2\, {\times }\, 10^{-2}$| deg−1 at sensitivities of 56.4, 19.2, and 3.9 mJy following primary beam correction for the respective time-scales. We find one possible candidate that could be associated with a stellar flare, which was rejected due to strict image quality control. The advent of the big data era has brought unprecedented data demands. The integration of computing resources with network resources in the computing force network enables the possibility of distributed collaborative training. However, unencrypted collaborative training is vulnerable to threats such as gradient inversion attacks and model theft. To address this issue, the data in collaborative training are usually protected by cryptographic methods. However, the semantic meaninglessness of encrypted data makes it difficult to prevent potential data poisoning attacks and free-riding attacks. In this paper, we propose a fairness guarantee approach for privacy-preserving collaborative training, employing blockchain technology to enable participants to share data and exclude potential violators from normal users. We utilize a cryptography-based secure aggregation method to prevent data leakage during blockchain transactions, and employ a contribution evaluation method for encrypted data to prevent data poisoning and free-riding attacks. Additionally, utilizing Shamir's secret sharing for secret key negotiation within the group, the negotiated key is directly introduced as noise into the model, ensuring the encryption process is computationally lightweight. Decryption is efficiently achieved through the aggregation of encrypted models within the group, without incurring additional computational costs, thereby enhancing the computational efficiency of the encryption and decryption processes. In the era of big data, one of the key challenges is to discover process models and gain insights into business processes by analyzing event data recorded in information systems. However, Chaotic activity or infrequent behaviors often appear in actual event logs. Process models containing such behaviors are complex, difficult to understand, and hide the relevant key behaviors of the underlying processes. Established studies have generally achieved chaotic activity filtering by filtering infrequent activities or activities with high entropy values and ignoring the behavioral relationships that exist between activities, resulting in effective low-frequency behaviors being filtered. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an entropy-based behavioral closeness filtering of chaotic activities method. Firstly, based on the behavior profile theory of high-frequency logging activities, the process model is constructed by combining the feature network and the module network. Then, the identification of suspected chaotic activity sets is achieved through the Laplace entropy value. Next, a query model is built based on logs containing suspicious chaotic activity. Finally, based on the succession relationship, the behavioral closeness of the query model and the business process model is analyzed to achieve the goal of accurately filtering chaotic activities to retain behaviors beneficial to the process. To evaluate the performance of the method, we validated the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in synthetic logs and real logs, respectively. Effectively reducing the dimensionality of big data and retaining its key information has been a research challenge. As an important step in data pre-processing, feature selection plays a critical role in reducing data size and increasing the overall value of the data. Many previous studies have focused on single-label feature selection, however, with the increasing variety of data types, the need for feature selection on multi-label data types has also arisen. Unlike single-labeled data, multi-labeled data with more combinations of classifications place higher demands on the capabilities of feature selection algorithms. In this paper, we propose a filter-based Multi-Objective Equilibrium Optimizer algorithm (MOEO-Smp) to solve the feature selection problem for both single-label and multi-label data. MOEO-Smp rates the optimization results of solutions and features based on four pairs of optimization principles, and builds three equilibrium pools to guide exploration and exploitation based on the total scores of solutions and features and the ranking of objective fitness values, respectively. Seven UCI single-label datasets and two Mulan multi-label datasets and one COVID-19 multi-label dataset are used to test the feature selection capability of MOEO-Smp, and the feature selection results are compared with 10 other state-of-the-art algorithms and evaluated using three and seven different metrics, respectively. Feature selection experiments and comparisons with the results in other literatures show that MOEO-Smp not only has the highest classification accuracy and excellent dimensionality reduction on single-labeled data, but also performs better on multi-label data in terms of Hamming loss, accuracy, dimensionality reduction, and so on.
