Automatic live video commenting is with increasing attention due to its significance in narration generation, topic explanation, etc. However, the diverse sentiment consideration of the generated comments is missing from the current methods. Sentimental factors are critical in interactive commenting, and lack of research so far. Thus, in this paper, we propose a Sentiment-oriented Transformer-based Variational Autoencoder (So-TVAE) network which consists of a sentiment-oriented diversity encoder module and a batch attention module, to achieve diverse video commenting with multiple sentiments and multiple semantics. Specifically, our sentiment-oriented diversity encoder elegantly combines VAE and random mask mechanism to achieve semantic diversity under sentiment guidance, which is then fused with cross-modal features to generate live video comments. Furthermore, a batch attention module is also proposed in this paper to alleviate the problem of missing sentimental samples, caused by the data imbalance, which is common in live videos as the popularity of videos varies. Extensive experiments on Livebot and VideoIC datasets demonstrate that the proposed So-TVAE outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in terms of the quality and diversity of generated comments. The transportation sector remains a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. The understanding of energy-efficient driving behaviors and utilization of energy-efficient driving strategies are essential to reduce vehicles' fuel consumption. However, there is no comprehensive investigation into energy-efficient driving behaviors and strategies. Furthermore, many state-of-the-art AI models have been applied for the analysis of eco-friendly driving styles, but no overview is available. To fill the gap, this paper conducts a thorough literature review on ecological driving behaviors and styles and analyzes the driving factors influencing energy consumption and state-of-the-art methodologies. With a thorough scoping review process, the methodological and related data are compared. The results show that the factors that impact driving behaviors can be summarized into eleven features including speed, acceleration, deceleration, pedal, and so on. This paper finds that supervised/unsupervised learning algorithms and reinforcement learning frameworks have been popularly used to model the vehicle's energy consumption with multi-dimensional data. Furthermore, the literature shows that the driving data are collected from either simulators or real-world experiments, and the real-world data are mainly stored and transmitted by meters, controller area networks, onboard data services, smartphones, and additional sensors installed in the vehicle. Based on driving behavior factors, driver characteristics, and safety rules, this paper recommends nine energy-efficient driving styles including four guidelines for the drivers' selection and adjustment of the vehicle parameters, three recommendations for the energy-efficient driving styles in different driving scenarios, and two subjective suggestions for different types of drivers and employers.

Although metaheuristics have been widely recognized as efficient techniques to solve real-world optimization problems, implementing them from scratch remains difficult for domain-specific experts without programming skills. In this scenario, metaheuristic optimization frameworks are a practical alternative as they provide a variety of algorithms composed of customized elements, as well as experimental support. Recently, many engineering problems require to optimize multiple or even many objectives, increasing the interest in appropriate metaheuristic algorithms and frameworks that might integrate new specific requirements while maintaining the generality and reusability principles they were conceived for. Based on this idea, this paper introduces JCLEC-MO, a Java framework for both multi- and many-objective optimization that enables engineers to apply, or adapt, a great number of multi-objective algorithms with little coding effort. In this paper, we investigate the use of the deep learning method for solving a well-known NP-hard single machine scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing the total tardiness. We propose a deep neural network that acts as a polynomial-time estimator of the criterion value used in a single-pass scheduling algorithm based on Lawler's decomposition and symmetric decomposition proposed by Della Croce et al. Essentially, the neural network guides the algorithm by estimating the best splitting of the problem into subproblems. The paper also describes a new method for generating the training data set, which speeds up the training dataset generation and reduces the average optimality gap of solutions. The experimental results show that our machine learning-driven approach can efficiently generalize information from the training phase to significantly larger instances. Even though the instances used in the training phase have from 75 to 100 jobs, the average optimality gap on instances with up to 800 jobs is 0.26%, which is almost five times less than the gap of the state-of-the-art heuristic.

While some view ChatGPT as a groundbreaking innovation, others attribute its success to the effective integration of product development and market strategies. The emergence of ChatGPT, alongside GPT-4, marks a new phase in Generative AI, generating content that is distinct from training examples and exceeding the capabilities of the prior GPT-3 model by OpenAI. Unlike the traditional supervised learning approach in IR tasks, ChatGPT challenges existing paradigms, bringing forth new challenges and opportunities regarding text quality assurance, model bias, and efficiency. Affordances are fundamental descriptors of relationships between actions, objects and effects. They provide the means whereby a robot can predict effects, recognize actions, select objects and plan its behavior according to desired goals. This paper approaches the problem of an embodied agent exploring the world and learning these affordances autonomously from its sensory experiences. Models exist for learning the structure and the parameters of a Bayesian Network encoding this knowledge. Although Bayesian Networks are capable of dealing with uncertainty and redundancy, previous work considered complete observability of the discrete sensory data, which may lead to hard errors in the presence of noise. Reinforcement learning (RL) with sparse and deceptive rewards is challenging because non-zero rewards are rarely obtained. Hence, the gradient calculated by the agent can be stochastic and without valid information. Recent studies that utilize memory buffers of previous experiences can lead to a more efficient learning process. However, existing methods often require these experiences to be successful and may overly exploit them, which can cause the agent to adopt suboptimal behaviors. This paper develops an approach that uses diverse past trajectories for faster and more efficient online RL, even if these trajectories are suboptimal or not highly rewarded. The proposed algorithm combines a policy improvement step with an additional exploration step using offline demonstration data. The main contribution of this paper is that by regarding diverse past trajectories as guidance, instead of imitating them, our method directs its policy to follow and expand past trajectories while still being able to learn without rewards and approach optimality. Furthermore, a novel diversity measurement is introduced to maintain the team's diversity and regulate exploration. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on discrete and continuous control tasks with sparse and deceptive rewards. This paper copes with the COGERSA waste collection process. Up to now, experts have been manually designed the process using a trial and error mechanism. This process is not globally optimized, since it has been progressively and locally built as council demands appear. Planning optimization algorithms usually solve it, but they need a fitness function to evaluate a route planning quality. The drawback is that even experts are not able to propose one in a straightforward way due to the complexity of the process. Hence, the goal of this paper is to build a fitness function though a preference framework, taking advantage of the available expert knowledge and expertise. Several key performance indicators together with preference judgments are carefully established according to the experts for learning a promising fitness function. Particularly, the additivity property of them makes the task be much more affordable, since it allows to work with routes rather than with route plannings. Besides, a feature selection analysis is performed over such indicators, since the experts suspect of a potential existing (but unknown) redundancy among them. The experiment results confirm this hypothesis, since the best $C-$index ($98\%$ against around $94\%$) is reached when 6 or 8 out of 21 indicators are taken. Particularly, truck load seems to be a highly promising key performance indicator, together to the travelled distance along non-main roads. A comparison with other existing approaches shows that the proposed method clearly outperforms them, since the $C-$index goes from $72\%$ or $90\%$ to $98\%$.

Topic models have been prevalent for decades to discover latent topics and infer topic proportions of documents in an unsupervised fashion. They have been widely used in various applications like text analysis and context recommendation. Recently, the rise of neural networks has facilitated the emergence of a new research field -- Neural Topic Models (NTMs). Different from conventional topic models, NTMs directly optimize parameters without requiring model-specific derivations. This endows NTMs with better scalability and flexibility, resulting in significant research attention and plentiful new methods and applications. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey on neural topic models concerning methods, applications, and challenges. Specifically, we systematically organize current NTM methods according to their network structures and introduce the NTMs for various scenarios like short texts and cross-lingual documents. Speaker Verification (SV) systems involve mainly two individual stages: feature extraction and classification. In this paper, we explore these two modules with the aim of improving the performance of a speaker verification system under noisy conditions. On the one hand, the choice of the most appropriate acoustic features is a crucial factor for performing robust speaker verification. The acoustic parameters used in the proposed system are: Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), their first and second derivatives (Deltas and Delta- Deltas), Bark Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (BFCC), Perceptual Linear Predictive (PLP), and Relative Spectral Transform - Perceptual Linear Predictive (RASTA-PLP). In this paper, a complete comparison of different combinations of the previous features is discussed. On the other hand, the major weakness of a conventional Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier is the use of generic traditional kernel functions to compute the distances among data points. However, the kernel function of an SVM has great influence on its performance. In this work, we propose the combination of two SVM-based classifiers with different kernel functions: Linear kernel and Gaussian Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel with a Logistic Regression (LR) classifier. The combination is carried out by means of a parallel structure approach, in which different voting rules to take the final decision are considered. Results show that significant improvement in the performance of the SV system is achieved by using the combined features with the combined classifiers either with clean speech or in the presence of noise. Finally, to enhance the system more in noisy environments, the inclusion of the multiband noise removal technique as a preprocessing stage is proposed.
