Search

This article maps considerations of inclusiveness and support for students with disabilities by reviewing articles within the field of learning analytics. The study involved a PRISMA-informed systematic review of two popular digital libraries, namely Clarivate's Web of Science, and Elsevier's Scopus for peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings. A final corpus of 26 articles was analysed. Findings show that although the field of learning analytics emerged in 2011, none of the studies identified here covered topics of inclusiveness in education before the year of 2016. Screening also shows that learning analytics provides great potential to promote inclusiveness in terms of reducing discrimination, increasing retention among disadvantaged students, and validating particular learning designs for marginalised groups. Gaps in this potential are also identified. The article aims to provide valuable insight into what is known about learning analytics and inclusiveness and contribute knowledge to this particular nascent area for researchers and institutional stakeholders.

Using the metaphor of a publication "pipeline," this article offers practical tips for early-career scholars to take their ideas from concept to publication. Too often, conference presentations do not continue to publication, limiting the potential for dissemination of research work throughout the field and impeding professional scholarly growth. Here, experienced scholars share what they have found helpful to maximize publication productivity.

The importance of engaging students with complex societal challenges has led to the adoption of various interdisciplinary teaching and learning practices in both K-12 and higher education. However, interdisciplinary learning is one of the most complex domains of contemporary educational practice, and, despite its significance, remains significantly undertheorized and under-researched. This Special Issue highlights empirical research efforts toward understanding interdisciplinary learning in its complexity. It simultaneously aims to (1) advance ecological perspectives that encompass concepts and methodologies for studying complex heterogeneous learning practices and (2) apply these perspectives to the research of interdisciplinary learning - of how people learn across and beyond disciplines. This introduction provides a historical context for interdisciplinary learning, introduces an ecological stance toward researching learning across and beyond disciplines, and reviews critical theoretical and methodological challenges within interdisciplinary learning, arguing that the field of the learning sciences is well-positioned to address these challenges. It discusses how the contributions presented in this special issue shed light on theoretical, methodological, empirical, and design aspects of interdisciplinary learning and offer a basis for further design work and research.

This paper discusses key themes of the 15th biennial conference of the Association for Language Awareness (2020), with a focus on increasing digital engagement in language education. The COVID-19 pandemic occasioned an abrupt transition to emergency remote language teaching and learning (ERLTL) worldwide. The ALA 2020 conference was also affected by this transition; originally planned as a located conference in Geelong, Australia, it was eventually held online, a first in ALA's conference history. The current paper engages with contemporary debates of language teaching and learning in two ways. Firstly, it traces recent discussions by presenting key findings from five papers given at the conference, and secondly, via a scoping review of literature focusing on critical lessons from the pandemic regarding language teaching and learning. The review captures recent research from the Australasian region. Key debates identified in the literature include the needs of teachers and learners during the transition to online learning, and how student engagement was affected. The literatures highlight that both educators and students have been developing new practices in teaching and learning resulting from the shift to online and blended modes, which may continue to shape language education and new pedagogies in the future.

This paper argues that the dominant modes of academic address, the conference paper, the journal article, and the monograph, reinforce problematic and exclusionary assumptions concerning what counts as legitimate research, whilst also restricting academic enquiry and impoverishing intellectual life. It makes its case by exploring in some detail the intellectual commitments of one the West's more wayward 20th century thinkers, Georges Bataille. It suggests that Bataille presents not simply a conceptual armoury (and one among many) for critiquing Western logocentrism from within, but offers an example of what a less domesticated, less stylistically narrowed mode of thinking might look like.

This short essay introduces the symposium "Teaching sports geography". The six papers that make up this symposium represent the first substantive interventions into the pedagogies of sports geography. Sports geography has a rich research literature that is briefly reviewed, before the paper goes on to consider enduring concerns that sports geographers have pursued over several decades. The paper also notes some of the many opportunities and challenges associated with the teaching of sports geography, before going on the provide an overview of the six papers in the symposium. The paper ends by briefly outlining prospects for the teaching of sports geography. It also acknowledges the recent death of John Bale who was the preeminent pioneer and scholar of sports geography, to whom this collection of papers is dedicated.

Feedback processes are crucial in doctoral supervision but require adaptation to meet the changing nature of the doctorate, and increasing impetus to publish during the candidature. This study builds on concepts of authentic feedback and feedback literacy to chart possibilities for the development of feedback socialization in doctoral education. Semi-structured interviews with twenty doctoral supervisors in a faculty of education in Hong Kong aimed to investigate their understandings of feedback, its enactment within the doctoral process, and broader feedback inputs beyond the supervisor. Data were analyzed through reflexive thematic analysis and trustworthiness was enhanced through a member checking focus group with a sub-set of four of the interviewees. The analysis is informed by sociocultural theory with emphasis on co-construction of insights between supervisors and doctoral students. The findings highlight supervisors' understandings of feedback as comments, interaction and follow-up; and authentic feedback generated from presenting at conferences or submitting to journals. A contribution of the paper lies in bringing to bear conceptual insights from feedback research in undergraduate education to inform feedback in doctoral supervision. We deploy the concept of authentic feedback, practices that resemble those of the relevant workplace, to demonstrate how journal peer review facilitates the socialization of doctoral students into academic publishing norms. Key supervisor roles lie in guiding the enactment of responses to peer review, and supporting the development of resilience. Proposed features of supervisors' feedback literacy include sociocultural-based dialogue and co-construction, emphasis on the enactment of feedback and working with authentic feedback of different forms.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate risk propagation and resilience in the agribusiness supply chain (ASC). Design/methodology/approach: The paper undertakes a systematic literature review (SLR). Overall, 94 articles from six databases published between 2000 and 2022 underwent descriptive and thematic analysis. Findings: There is a lack of research on risk propagation and resilience in the ASC for more than two decades. Accordingly, this research fills the gap in the extant literature by advancing the construct of risk propagation and resilience in the ASC and developing a framework proposing directions in risk propagation and resilience in ASC research. Research limitations/implications: Firstly, only the Web of Science and Scopus databases were mostly used as primary sources while other databases were used as secondary sources to validate search results. Secondly, SLR is based on the peer-reviewed articles, books and conference papers; other non-academic sources relevant to the topic were not included in this paper. Originality/value: The paper offers a set of constructs for understanding risk propagation and resilience in the ASC, develops a framework proposing directions in risk propagation and resilience in the ASC research and recommends three key themes for future research directions, namely, keep updated with recent constructs of risk propagation and resilience in the ASC, conduct case studies based on empirical studies to determine the current risk dependency and propagation in the ASC and conduct case studies based on empirical studies to determine resilience and sustainability in the ASC. Conference proceedings are valuable sources for research, providing insights into individual or organisational projects. Australian library and information services (LIS) professionals have the opportunity to contribute to a robust conference culture, including the biennial library technology VALA conference. Practice-driven conferences can offer interpretations of LIS practitioner experiences, however, there is limited research focusing on Australian LIS conference proceedings. The VALA conference papers offer a unique record of technology's impact, influence, and implementation in Australian LIS organisations over the last forty years. This article will outline the objective and methodology of an ongoing research project undertaking historical analysis of VALA conference papers. The research project seeks to examine key themes, theories, and tools discussed in VALA conference papers and will attempt to identify if evolving technology influences the practices and attitudes of Australian LIS practitioners. The article will identify the research methods and the content analysis techniques that will be used in the project, and present preliminary results from a pilot study presented at the 2023 RAILS conference. The article is based on the lecture ‘Mathematics teacher training from the perspective of STEM – a particular case’ given by its author at the ATCM 2023 conference and is an extension of a related paper that was published in the conference proceedings. It further develops the idea that the task of teacher training schools is to create a suitable environment for the provision of education, impulses for the development of the necessary knowledge and skills, as well as to support these. It provides a detailed description of specific creative activities for future teachers, which develop their awareness of the applicability of mathematics in solving real problems and knowledge of its overlap with technology. It is based on historical problems and their context, as presented in the conference paper. The power word problem for a group G asks whether an expression u 1 x 1 ⋯ u n x n , where the u i are words over a finite set of generators of G and the x i binary encoded integers, is equal to the identity of G . It is a restriction of the compressed word problem, where the input word is represented by a straight-line program (i.e., an algebraic circuit over G ). We start by showing some easy results concerning the power word problem. In particular, the power word problem for a group G is uNC 1 -many-one reducible to the power word problem for a finite-index subgroup of G . For our main result, we consider graph products of groups that do not have elements of order two. We show that the power word problem in a fixed such graph product is AC 0 -Turing-reducible to the word problem for the free group F 2 and the power word problems of the base groups. Furthermore, we look into the uniform power word problem in a graph product, where the dependence graph and the base groups are part of the input. Given a class of finitely generated groups C without order two elements, the uniform power word problem in a graph product can be solved in AC 0 [ C = L UPowWP (C) ] , where UPowWP (C) denotes the uniform power word problem for groups from the class C . As a consequence of our results, the uniform knapsack problem in right-angled Artin groups is NP -complete. The present paper is a combination of the two conference papers (Lohrey and Weiß 2019b, Stober and Weiß 2022a). In Stober and Weiß (2022a) our results on graph products were wrongly stated without the additional assumption that the base groups do not have elements of order two. In the present work we correct this mistake. While we strongly conjecture that the result as stated in Stober and Weiß (2022a) is true, our proof relies on this additional assumption. Background: Natural language processing, such as ChatGPT, demonstrates growing potential across numerous research scenarios, also raising interest in its applications in public health and epidemiology. Here, we applied a bibliometric analysis for a systematic assessment of the current literature related to the applications of ChatGPT in epidemiology and public health. Methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted on the Biblioshiny web-app, by collecting original articles indexed in the Scopus database between 2010 and 2023. Results: On a total of 3431 original medical articles, "Article" and "Conference paper", mostly constituting the total of retrieved documents, highlighting that the term "ChatGPT" becomes an interesting topic from 2023. The annual publications escalated from 39 in 2010 to 719 in 2023, with an average annual growth rate of 25.1%. In terms of country production over time, the USA led with the highest overall production from 2010 to 2023. Concerning citations, the most frequently cited countries were the USA, UK, and China. Interestingly, Harvard Medical School emerges as the leading contributor, accounting for 18% of all articles among the top ten affiliations. Conclusions: Our study provides an overall examination of the existing research interest in ChatGPT's applications for public health by outlining pivotal themes and uncovering emerging trends. A comprehensive review of the non-timber forest product (NTFP) sector from 1980 to 2022 was undertaken. The study employed a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology, incorporating explicit keywords. The results indicate that NTFPs underwent significant evolution, including research and development changes, particularly following the Rio de Janeiro summit. Most published research originated from the United States, accounting for 24% of the total; Brazil and India each contributed 10% of the published research. We included 316 potential research items: 262 articles, 19 book chapters, 27 review articles, and eight conference papers. The review analysis highlighted that NTFPs are crucial in meeting food requirements, obtaining specific medicinal resources, and acquiring material inputs for rural households, serving as a safety net during agrarian distress. NTFPs play a crucial role in promoting the development of the bio-economy. In low- and high-income nations with abundant bio-resources, NTFP value chains are increasingly pertinent for generating revenue, enhancing livelihoods, and reducing poverty in forest dependent communities. Further, the analysis emphasized that NTFP consumption, utilization, and sales occur at the household level, and its comprehensive assessment is challenging, leading to the need for a reevaluation of approaches that include value chain analysis. Background: Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a prevalent hematological complication associated with gastrointestinal (GI) cancers due to an increased loss of iron and decreased iron absorption. The purpose of this systematic review is to evaluate the use of parenteral iron to treat IDA in patients with GI cancer. Methods: PubMed, Cochrane, EMBASE, CINHAL and Scopus were searched from January 1, 2010 to September 29, 2023 with no language restrictions. We excluded editorials, case reports, abstracts, conference papers, and poster presentations. Studies were included if they discussed IDA, GI neoplasms, use of iron supplementation (with or without erythropoietin-stimulating agents [ESAs]), defined anemia and had an adult patient population. We assessed the efficacy of parenteral iron in comparison to other iron supplementation methods when treating IDA in patients with GI cancer. The Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool 2 (RoB 2) and the Risk Of Bias In Non-randomized Studies of Interventions (ROBINS-I) assessment tools were used to assess the quality of the included studies. Moreover, the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organization data collection form was used to collect pertinent study information. Results: Our search yielded 3,969 studies across all databases. Twenty-one studies were included (6 randomized control trials; 15 non-randomized studies). Of the 15 studies evaluating hemoglobin (Hb) response, seven studies found an increase in Hb levels when patients were treated with IV iron. The 14 studies evaluating red blood cell (RBC) transfusion rates found conflicting differences in RBC transfusion needs when treated with IV iron. Studies analyzing health related outcomes typically found an increase in quality of life and decreased post-operative complications. Discussion: This review demonstrates improved outcomes of IDA in patients with GI cancer treated with IV iron instead of other iron supplementation methods. Timely diagnosis and appropriate IDA management can greatly improve quality of life in this patient population, especially if myelosuppressive chemotherapy is required. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing technologies have fuelled the growth of Pedagogical Conversational Agents (PCAs) with empathic conversational capabilities. However, no systematic literature review has explored the intersection between conversational agents, education and emotion. Therefore, this study aimed to outline the key aspects of designing, implementing and evaluating these agents. The data sources were empirical studies, including peer‐reviewed conference papers and journal articles, and the most recent publications, from the ACM Digital Library, IEEE Xplore, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, Scopus, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis Online, Web of Science and Wiley Online Library. The remaining papers underwent a rigorous quality assessment. A filter study meeting the objective was based on keywords. Comparative analysis and synthesis of results were used to handle data and combine study outcomes. Out of 1162 search results, 13 studies were selected. The results indicate that agents promote dialogic learning, proficiency in knowledge domains, personalized feedback and empathic abilities as essential design principles. Most implementations employ a quantitative approach, and two variables are used for evaluation. Feedback types play a vital role in achieving positive results in learning performance and student perceptions. The main limitations and gaps are the time range for literature selection, the level of integration of the empathic field and the lack of a detailed development stage report. Moreover, future directions are the ethical implications of agents operating beyond scheduled learning times and the adoption of Responsible AI principles. Thousands of papers are published at conferences every year. Conference organizers manually assign accepted papers to the sessions according to the title and keywords given by the author. Then organizer names each session, based on his/her experience. These are complex and time-consuming processes and often fail to collect papers on a similar topic in content. This often causes the participant to exit the session after listening to the presentation of one or two papers, because the session name does not fully represent the papers in the session and the papers in the session are not close in content. As a solution to these problems, this paper proposes a method for automatically organizing conference sessions. The method first introduces a network created with a deep learning-based document similarity. Then, sessions are determined with a community discovery method specific to this network, and finally, session titles are extracted with a topic modeling approach. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first effort in this direction. Experiments conducted on sessions of three real conferences show that the proposed method is able to create up to 21% better similar sessions, and session names better represent the papers in that session. The article discusses the importance of physical education in schools and its potential to positively impact student learning and prevent obesity. However, the field of physical education faces challenges such as negative public perceptions, teacher-centered instructional practices, and a lack of consensus on its structure and goals. To address these issues, the Janus 2.0 Conference was organized, bringing together senior and emerging scholars to discuss key research areas and develop new directions for the field. The conference covered 10 research themes, including curriculum, teacher knowledge, professional development, policy and advocacy, motivation and achievement, social justice, and physical education teacher education. This article responds to a conference call for papers that makes universalist assumptions about clause structures, assuming all languages in the world basically follow the same organizing principles in terms of clause structure, argument structure, and alignment. The article presents data from Tagalog to show how different a language can be from the assumed universal organizing principles to make the point that by imposing an Indo-European framework on non-Indo-European languages, we are overlooking the true diversity of language forms found in the world's languages. The question of how agricultural knowledge and innovation systems (AKISs) can address the issue of sustainable management of natural resources (SMNR) is presented in this conference paper. This literature review, which collected published research from the Scopus electronic database, aimed to explore the value of AKISs in enhancing the sustainability of natural resources. Therefore, it examined and evaluated the roles of AKISs as either positive or negative overall. Moreover, it analyzed whether the use of AKISs supports the goal of creating a sustainable system that links agriculture with natural resources. Background: Commercial electroencephalography (EEG) devices have become increasingly available over the last decade. These devices have been used in a wide variety of fields ranging from engineering to cognitive neuroscience. Purpose: The aim of this study was to chart peer-review articles that used consumer-grade EEG devices to collect neural data. We provide an overview of the research conducted with these relatively more affordable and user-friendly devices. We also inform future research by exploring the current and potential scope of consumer-grade EEG. Methods: We followed a five-stage methodological framework for a scoping review that included a systematic search using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines. We searched the following online databases: PsycINFO, MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and IEEE Xplore. We charted study data according to application (BCI, experimental research, validation, signal processing, and clinical) and location of use as indexed by the first author's country. Results: We identified 916 studies that used data recorded with consumer-grade EEG: 531 were reported in journal articles and 385 in conference papers. Emotiv devices were used most, followed by the NeuroSky MindWave, OpenBCI, interaXon Muse, and MyndPlay Mindband. The most common usage was for brain-computer interfaces, followed by experimental research, signal processing, validation, and clinical purposes. Conclusions: Consumer-grade EEG is a useful tool for neuroscientific research and will likely continue to be used well into the future. Computer-vision-based gaze estimation refers to techniques that estimate gaze direction directly from video recordings of the eyes or face without the need for an eye tracker. Although many such methods exist, their validation is often found in the technical literature (e.g., computer science conference papers). We aimed to (1) identify which computer-vision-based gaze estimation methods are usable by the average researcher in fields such as psychology or education, and (2) evaluate these methods. We searched for methods that do not require calibration and have clear documentation. Two toolkits, OpenFace and OpenGaze, were found to fulfill these criteria. First, we present an experiment where adult participants fixated on nine stimulus points on a computer screen. We filmed their face with a camera and processed the recorded videos with OpenFace and OpenGaze. We conclude that OpenGaze is accurate and precise enough to be used in screen-based experiments with stimuli separated by at least 11 degrees of gaze angle. OpenFace was not sufficiently accurate for such situations but can potentially be used in sparser environments. We then examined whether OpenFace could be used with horizontally separated stimuli in a sparse environment with infant participants. We compared dwell measures based on OpenFace estimates to the same measures based on manual coding. We conclude that OpenFace gaze estimates may potentially be used with measures such as relative total dwell time to sparse, horizontally separated areas of interest, but should not be used to draw conclusions about measures such as dwell duration. This study decomposes country-specific deviations in the share of Conference Papers (CPs) in national research output from the global average into two components: disciplinary and institutional shifts. This approach helps explain the high proportion of CPs in certain countries, where the disciplinary structure of national science justifies such deviations. We propose that the main drivers of institutional shifts include national science policy, particularly performance assessment systems; a high proportion of early-career researchers due to rapid expansion of the research sector; and the prevalence of home conferences, influenced by favorable geographical locations or political preferences. We observed an abnormally low institutional shift in Iran, which has long been under international sanctions, and an extremely high shift in Indonesia, where the rapid development of the scientific sector leads to a high proportion of first-time authors and relaxed scientific ethics requirements. This study aims to re-examine the essential notion of "gap" in the studies of relative clauses. Following Creissels' (Creissels, Denis. 2006. Syntaxe générale: une introduction typologique. Paris: Hermès; Creissels, Denis. 2019. Remarks on the typology of noun-modifying clause constructions. Paper presented at the Conference of Complex Sentences, Central China Normal University, 26–29 July) discussion, we argue that there are at least three types of gaps in terms of their respective compositions, namely the gap corresponding to a zero-marked constituent, the gap corresponding to a case-marked constituent, and the gap corresponding to an adposition-marked constituent. This classification, which is not based on the grammatical relation of the relativized constituent in the relative clause but focuses on the composition of the gap, can better explain the existence of the so-called "enlarged gap", a special type of gap that has been almost completely ignored so far. Purpose: This paper aims to quantify the trend of variables used for building a theoretical model with the help of analysing bibliometrics data of inventory management (IM) and Total Quality Management (TQM) practices and their effects on firm performance. Design/methodology/approach: Scopus' research database and the Web of Science (WoS) (including Elsevier, Emerald Group Publishing, Taylor and Francis, Wiley, IEEE, Informs and SAGE) were used to find relevant articles. The articles, review papers and conference proceedings were screened from 1993 to 2021. The articles were analysed to explain the different types of IM practices, TQM practices and their effect on the firm's performance. Thematic analysis was done using a bibliometric package of "R" (Biblioshiny) and VOSviewer to identify the key trends, approaches and research agenda. Findings: The research covered 28 years of publications and summarised 497 articles, review papers and conference papers. Researchers concluded that IM highly correlates with the inventory turnover ratio and has no relation to firm performance. Further, TQM positively affects firm performance, but integrating IM and TQM will be a research scope for future study as none of the researchers previously covered this. Research limitations/implications: Due to the systematic literature review (SLR) and Bibliometric review, the study is limited to the Scopus and WoS (including Elsevier, Emerald Group Publishing, Taylor and Francis, Wiley, IEEE, Informs and SAGE) databases. As humanity reaches the 5.0 industrial revolution, education plays a critical role in boosting the quality of human resources. This paper reports bibliometric research on emerging TiP during 1993-2022 in the educational field to analyse its development on any level of education during the last three decades. This study employed a Scopus database. The findings are that the trend of TiP publication in educational fields has tended to increase every year during the past three decades and conference paper became the most published document type, the USA is the country which produces the most publications; 'Students' being the most occurrences keyword and total link strength. The publication of the TiP is ranked to the Quartile 1, which implies that a publication with the cited performance is a publication with credibility because the publisher has a good reputation. Background: The Mediterranean Sea is a region characterized by high seismic activity, with at least 200 tsunami events recorded from the fourth century to the present twenty-first century. Numerous studies have been conducted to understand past tsunami events, earthquake–tsunami generation, tsunami recurrence periods, tsunami vulnerability zones, and tsunami hazard mitigation strategies. Therefore, gaining insights into future trends and opportunities in Mediterranean Sea tsunami research is crucial for significantly contributing to all relevant aspects. This study aims to assess such trends and opportunities through a scientometric analysis of publications indexed by Web of Science from 2000 to 2023. Results: Based on a selection of 329 publications, including research articles, review articles, book chapters, and conference papers, published between 2000 and 2023, Italy has the highest number of publications and citations in this field. The number of publications has increased significantly, especially after the 2004 Indian Ocean, 2011 Tohoku, and 2018 Palu tsunamis. According to the keyword analysis, the terms "tsunami", "earthquake", "hazard", "wave", "Mediterranean", "coast", and "tectonic" were the most frequently used in these publications. Research themes consist of four classifications: motor themes, such as seismic hazard; specific but well-developed themes, like tsunamiite; emerging or disappearing themes, for example, climate change; and general or basic themes, such as equations and megaturbidite. The number of publications related to the motor theme classification continued to grow throughout 2000–2023. Topics from 2011–2023 are more complex compared to 2000–2010, characterized by the emergence of new keywords such as evacuation planning, risk reduction, risk mitigation, building vulnerability, coastal vulnerability, climate change, probabilistic tsunami hazard assessment (PTVA-3 and PTVA-4). However, topics that were popular in the 2000–2010 period (e.g., paleotsunami deposits, earthquake, and tsunami propagation analysis) also increased in 2011–2023. Conclusions: Research topics with high centrality and density such as seismic hazard will continue to develop and prospect. This paper re-examines the origins of the Life-Cycle Hypothesis (LCH) originally formulated by Modigliani and Brumberg seventy years ago, using a combination of historical and archival analysis. The study compares Modigliani's own account of the LCH with a range of other sources, including papers presented at the Conference on Savings in 1952, contemporary literature, and PhD dissertations of Hamburger and Brumberg. The analysis reveals that the idea of the LCH was somehow "in the air" in the early 1950s, although Modigliani-Brumberg's formulation represents an ingenious theoretically-founded and empirically-testable formalisation of such a framework. This study analyzed 16,799 journal papers and 98,773 conference papers published by IEEE Xplore in 2016 to investigate the relationships among usage counts, Mendeley readership, and citations through descriptive, regression, and mediation analyses. Differences in the relationship among these metrics between journal and conference papers are also studied. Results showed that there is no significant difference between journal and conference papers in the distribution patterns and accumulation rates of the three metrics. However, the correlation coefficients of the interrelationships between the three metrics were lower in conference papers compared to journal papers. Secondly, funding, international collaboration, and open access are positively associated with all three metrics, except for the case of funding on the usage metrics of conference papers. Furthermore, early Mendeley readership is a better predictor of citations than early usage counts and performs better for journal papers. Finally, we reveal that early Mendeley readership partially mediates between early usage counts and citation counts in the journal and conference papers. The main difference is that conference papers rely more on the direct effect of early usage counts on citations. This study contributes to expanding the existing knowledge on the relationships among usage counts, Mendeley readership, and citations in journal and conference papers, providing new insights into the relationship between the three metrics through mediation analysis. Developers insert logging statements in the source code to collect important runtime information about software systems. The textual descriptions in logging statements (i.e., logging texts) are printed during system executions and exposed to multiple stakeholders including developers, operators, users, and regulatory authorities. Writing proper logging texts is an important but often challenging task for developers. Prior studies find that developers spend significant efforts modifying their logging texts. However, despite extensive research on automated logging suggestions, research on suggesting logging texts rarely exists. To fill this knowledge gap, we first propose LoGenText (initially reported in our conference paper), an automated approach that uses neural machine translation (NMT) models to generate logging texts by translating the related source code into short textual descriptions. LoGenText takes the preceding source code of a logging text as the input and considers other context information, such as the location of the logging statement, to automatically generate the logging text. LoGenText's evaluation on 10 open source projects indicates that the approach is promising for automatic logging text generation and significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art approach. Furthermore, we extend LoGenText to LoGenText-Plus by incorporating the syntactic templates of the logging texts. Different from LoGenText, LoGenText-Plus decomposes the logging text generation process into two stages. LoGenText-Plus first adopts an NMT model to generate the syntactic template of the target logging text. Then LoGenText-Plus feeds the source code and the generated template as the input to another NMT model for logging text generation. We also evaluate LoGenText-Plus on the same 10 projects and observe that it outperforms LoGenText on 9 of them. According to a human evaluation from developers' perspectives, the logging texts generated by LoGenText-Plus have a higher quality than those generated by LoGenText and the prior baseline approach. By manually examining the generated logging texts, we then identify five aspects that can serve as guidance for writing or generating good logging texts. Our work is an important step toward the automated generation of logging statements, which can potentially save developers' efforts and improve the quality of software logging. The purpose of this study is to examine customer satisfaction-related studies conducted between 2019 and 2021, focusing solely on articles, conference papers, and book chapters within the national literature context. The aim is to conduct a meta-analysis and analyze the existing dependent/independent variables related to customer satisfaction in terms of effect size, in order to establish a common consensus. After the screening process, 34 studies were included, and after determining the dependent/independent variables from these studies, a total of 7 different variables and 70 data points (k=70) were obtained, with a sample size (N) of 26,442. The collected data was subjected to meta-analysis using the Jamovi 1.6.23 program. Based on the findings, the variable with the highest effect size was customer loyalty with a value of 0.87, while empathy had the lowest effect size with a value of 0.55. The results indicate that the three variables with the largest effect sizes are customer loyalty, trust, and reliability, respectively. Based on this information, when customers trust and perceive a business as reliable, they engage in consuming its products/services, resulting in loyalty towards the business. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This Conference Paper uses descriptive-qualitative research to describe and analyze factors forming community resilience affected by floods. The determination of informants is determined deliberately on flood-affected communities using criteria according to the purpose of the study. Primary data were obtained from in-depth observations and interviews, while secondary data were obtained from library sources and relevant data. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation, while the data were analyzed using descriptive-qualitative analysis through several stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this study show that factors forming the resilience of the community to flood disasters are: (1) Value factors that have existed in the community for many years in the flooded land, namely mutual assistance; (2) Economic factors, finding alternative jobs or coping strategies by flood-affected communities; (3) Social factors, namely knowledge and skills to adapt to flood disasters through non-formal training and counselling on disaster and disaster mitigation from their experience or obtained through social media and mass media, such as television and radio; (4) Institutional factors, namely socialization of early flood warning, socialization of flood disaster mitigation, appeals for the prohibition of throwing garbage in rivers and essential food assistance before and during the occurrence of flood by the relevant government; and (5) Infrastructure factors that include the construction of facilities and infrastructure such as river dredging, drainage construction, and river cliff protection walls. Security in multi-tenant databases in cloud computing is a critical aspect, as it ensures that sensitive data is protected and isolated from other tenants. In a multi-tenant environment, multiple organizations or customers share the same infrastructure, making it challenging to ensure the security of their data. In this study, several papers have been analyzed from journals and conference papers, covering a variety of works on Security Multitenant databases in cloud computing. The articles in the literature used for the review were published between 2012 and 2022. This abstract presents a Hybrid approach for securing multi-tenant databases in cloud computing. This paper illustrates the approach which uses a combination of encryption and virtualization techniques to secure data and provide isolation between tenants. The main idea behind this approach is to balance the trade-off between security and performance, which are crucial aspects in multi-tenant environments. This approach's use of encryption ensures the security of data both in transit and at rest, and the virtualization process adds a layer of protection by isolating residents from one another. Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) is a rapidly growing field with a wide range of applications. In this paper, a thorough examination of the research landscape in GAI is presented, encompassing a comprehensive overview of the prevailing themes and topics within the field. The study analyzes a corpus of 1319 records from Scopus spanning from 1985 to 2023 and comprises journal articles, books, book chapters, conference papers, and selected working papers. The analysis revealed seven distinct clusters of topics in GAI research: image processing and content analysis, content generation, emerging use cases, engineering, cognitive inference and planning, data privacy and security, and Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (GPT) academic applications. The paper discusses the findings of the analysis and identifies some of the key challenges and opportunities in GAI research. The paper concludes by calling for further research in GAI, particularly in the areas of explainability, robustness, cross-modal and multi-modal generation, and interactive co-creation. Robot sequential decision-making in the real world is a challenge because it requires the robots to simultaneously reason about the current world state and dynamics, while planning actions to accomplish complex tasks. On the one hand, declarative languages and reasoning algorithms support representing and reasoning with commonsense knowledge. But these algorithms are not good at planning actions toward maximizing cumulative reward over a long, unspecified horizon. On the other hand, probabilistic planning frameworks, such as Markov decision processes (MDPs) and partially observable MDPs (POMDPs), support planning to achieve long-term goals under uncertainty. But they are ill-equipped to represent or reason about knowledge that is not directly related to actions. In this article, we present an algorithm, called iCORPP, to simultaneously estimate the current world state, reason about world dynamics, and construct task-oriented controllers. In this process, robot decision-making problems are decomposed into two interdependent (smaller) subproblems that focus on reasoning to "understand the world" and planning to "achieve the goal" respectively. The developed algorithm has been implemented and evaluated both in simulation and on real robots using everyday service tasks, such as indoor navigation, and dialog management. Results show significant improvements in scalability, efficiency, and adaptiveness, compared to competitive baselines including handcrafted action policies. • This article formally introduces the Integrated Reasoning and Planning (IRP) problem for robots. Digital platform ecosystem governance refers to a platform owner's decisions and mechanisms that seek to influence complementors and users to build and sustain an ecosystem. The relevance of digital platform ecosystem governance is broadly acknowledged by researchers. However, the extant body of research is fragmented, and varied terminologies are employed, leading to challenges in identifying and recognizing results across different fields. This article provides a multidisciplinary and systematic literature review with the aim of consolidating knowledge on this important topic. Based on an analysis of 103 journal articles and conference papers, this review synthesizes the literature into a conceptual model with five building blocks of platform ecosystem governance. The model aims to create a robust foundation for researchers approaching the topic for the first time and conducting subsequent research. The conceptual model also offers practical guidance for governing ecosystems in a structured manner. The agri-food and rural development sector in Europe is undergoing digitalization, and therefore becoming increasingly data-dependent. However, limited experience in implementing Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data principles has restricted knowledge sharing and reusability. This study aims to investigate the existing FAIR Data Management practices in the agri-food and rural development sector by assessing the FAIRness of project outputs from recent H2020-funded Multi-Actor Projects (MAPs). We conducted a FAIRness assessment of project outputs using both semi-automatic and manual framework, and we also carried out a comprehensive review of the data sharing practices among selected MAPs. Of the investigated MAPs, <10% have achieved FAIR compliance and applied FAIR data management practices. The measured FAIRness of project products, including journal articles, conference papers, and books, is higher than that of other product types such as videos, audios, and presentations. The study highlights the critical need for standardizing the adoption of FAIR data principles and data management practices across both the agri-food and rural development sector but also across bureaucratic data management throughout Europe more widely. Such a change would facilitate broader utilization and re-use of MAPs outputs and results, enhancing decision-making and agri-food and rural development practices. In applications of AI systems where exact definitions of the important notions of the application domain are hard to come by, the use of traditional logic-based knowledge representation languages such as Description Logics may lead to very large and unintuitive definitions, and high complexity of reasoning. To overcome this problem, we define new concept constructors that allow us to define concepts in an approximate way. To be more precise, we present a family τ EL (m) of extensions of the lightweight Description Logic EL that use threshold constructors for this purpose. To define the semantics of these constructors we employ graded membership functions m , which for each individual in an interpretation and concept yield a number in the interval [ 0 , 1 ] expressing the degree to which the individual belongs to the concept in the interpretation. Threshold concepts C ⋈ t for ⋈ ∈ { < , ≤ , > , ≥ } then collect all the individuals that belong to C with degree ⋈ t. The logic τ EL (m) extends EL with threshold concepts whose semantics is defined relative to a function m. To construct appropriate graded membership functions, we show how concept measures ∼ (which are graded generalizations of subsumption or equivalence between concepts) can be used to define graded membership functions m ∼. Then we introduce a large class of concept measures, called simi-d , for which the logics τ EL (m ∼) have good algorithmic properties. Basically, we show that reasoning in τ EL (m ∼) is NP/coNP-complete without TBox, PSpace-complete w.r.t. acyclic TBoxes, and ExpTime-complete w.r.t. general TBoxes. The exception is the instance problem, which is already PSpace-complete without TBox w.r.t. combined complexity. While the upper bounds hold for all elements of simi-d , we could prove some of the hardness results only for a subclass of simi-d.
