Objective. The number of cancer survivors is increasing, and the high prevalence of frailty not only reduces quality of life but also affects the treatment of cancer patients. This study aimed to identify the prevalence and risk factors of frailty in cancer patients and to construct a nomogram to predict the probability of frailty. Methods. Nine hundred fifty‐eight cancer patients were included in this retrospective study, randomly divided into a development set (n = 680) and a validation set (n = 278). Frailty was assessed using the Tilburg frailty indicator (TFI). Social support, medical coping styles, and psychological distress were assessed by the Social Support Self‐Rating Scale (SSRS), Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire (MCMQ), and distress thermometer (DT), respectively. Results. The prevalence of frailty in cancer patients was 45.93%. Cancer patients who exercised regularly, ate a balanced diet, and actively coped with diseases were less likely to become frail. The risk factors for frailty identified by a multivariate analysis were parenteral nutrition, advanced TNM staging, vegetarian diet, unemployment, psychological distress ≥4, low physical activity, and negative coping styles. These risk factors were used to construct a nomogram, and the C‐index, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to assess the performance of the nomogram. The C‐index was 0.762, and the calibration curve showed satisfactory coherence. The net benefit of the nomogram was better between threshold probabilities of 17%–96% in DCA. Conclusion. Special focus needs to be placed on frail cancer patients due to their high prevalence and severe outcomes. Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic non-specific inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is characterized by diffuse inflammatory process of the bowel mucosa with a relapsing course. The precise evaluation of UC severity is pivotal in the therapeutic decision-making. Modified Mayo score is consistently used for the evaluation of the disease activity which depends on the patient's symptoms as well as the colonoscopic findings. The aim of this study is to assess the role of the CT enterography (CTE) scoring system in the evaluation of the disease severity in ulcerative colitis. From October 2022 to July 2023, 66 patients with known ulcerative colitis patients at time of disease activity were referred from the inflammatory bowel disease unit for radiological assessment by CTE. CT images were analyzed to determine the anatomical location of the affected bowel segments, mucosal thickening and hyperenhancement as well as the extra-enteric involvement. Correlation with the modified Mayo score was established. Results: Our results showed a statistical significant correlation between modified Mayo score and CTE with a P value of 0.000. The correlation coefficient is r = 0.964. The cut-off value of the optimal CTE score to predict mild and moderate UC was 7.5 with 0.996 area under the ROC curve, 92%sensitivity and 100% specificity. The cut-off value of the optimal CTE score to predict moderate and severe UC was 10.5 with 0.983 area under the ROC curve, 90.6% sensitivity and 100% specificity. Conclusions: CTE is a reliable diagnostic method in the systematic assessment of the disease severity of active ulcerative colitis. CTE score shows a strong proportionate correlation with modified Mayo score. The aggravation of the course of the disease increased the CTE score. Background: The use of Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in chronic liver disease (CLD) patients in Germany is unknown. This study investigated the frequency of CAM use and associated sociodemographic, clinical and personality factors in CLD patients in Germany. Methods: This is a cross-sectional multicenter study of CLD patients attending liver outpatient clinics of university hospitals in Halle(-Saale) and Homburg between 2015 and 2017. Dedicated questionnaires recorded CAM use, sociodemographic and personality factors (evaluated with the "Big five" model, "Hospital Anxiety and Depression"-, "Multidimensional Health Locus of Control"- score). Uni- and multivariate analyses assessed factors associated to CAM use. Results: Overall 378 patients were recruited, 92 (24.3%) reported to CAM use. On univariate analysis, female CAM users were older (p = 0.001) and more physically active (p = 0.002), male CAM users more often used homeopathy (p = 0.000), actively promoted their health (p = 0.010) or had UDC in their medication (p = 0.004). Logistic regression analysis adjusted for personality factors showed significant association of age, physical exercise (females) and satisfaction with alternative medicine (females, males) to CAM use. Conclusions: CAM use is prevalent among CLD patients in Germany and is significantly associated to satisfaction with alternative medicine (females, males), physical exercise and older age (females). Background: Cochlear implants made a great impact in the management of severe-to-profound hearing loss in both children and adults. Its greatest impact is in helping children born with a profound hearing loss and implanted early to attend mainstream education and using spoken language to communicate. However, the final outcome in pediatric implantation is not predictable as there are large number of factors which will affect the outcome of cochlear implantation. Studying these determinants increases the ability of clinicians to offer educated preoperative prognosis and might potentially allow for manipulation of variables in an attempt to achieve the best possible outcome. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the preoperative factors affecting the audiological, speech, and language outcomes achieved by the recipients of cochlear implants. Methodology: A total of 39 children with severe-to-profound sensory neural hearing loss were implanted with cochlear implants. Children had received their implants before age of 5 years. Tests of receptive, expressive language quotient, aided cortical auditory-evoked potential using speech stimulus, aided free field audiometry, and aided speech reception thresholds were administered. Characteristics of the child and the family (age before implant and duration of implant use, cause of hearing loss, preimplant use of hearing aids and language therapy, and sociodemographic characteristics of their families) were the preoperative variables. These variables were considered predictors of audiological and language outcomes achieved by children and were determined using statistical analysis by univariate and multivariate analyses. Results: Age of the studied children at time of cochlear implantation was statistically significant predictor for CI outcome as regard receptive language quotient and also for N1 latency. Hearing age of the studied children was a statistically significant predictor for CI outcome as regards P1 latency. Conclusion: Based on our findings, two most important factors affecting outcome of cochlear implantation were the age at implantation and the hearing age. Introduction. Breast cancer is currently the most frequently detected cancer in women and the primary cause of cancer‐related deaths globally. The incidence of breast cancer has significantly increased in countries across sub‐Saharan Africa, counting Ethiopia. There are multiple determinants of breast cancer, a few of these can be changeable whereas others are not. Evidence suggests that breastfeeding, which is a changeable determinant, reduces breast cancer risk. However, there is a lack of evidence specifically linking the duration of breastfeeding to breast cancer risk. To date, no study has been conducted on the association between the duration of breastfeeding and the likelihood of breast cancer among Ethiopian women. Objective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between breastfeeding duration and breast cancer risk in Ethiopian mothers who had breastfed, taking into account other significant determinants. Methods. A hospital‐based case‐control study was carried out in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, involving 203 women (70 cases and 133 controls). Face‐to‐face interviews were performed using a standardized, validated questionnaire that assessed various sociodemographic, reproductive, lifestyle, and dietary characteristics. Differences between cases and controls were evaluated using the chi‐square test. The associations among factors were examined through bivariate and multivariable binary logistic regression, with results presented as odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals. Results. The multivariable investigation revealed that an inverse relationship between breastfeeding duration and breast cancer risk. Mothers who breastfed for a longer period had a 93% lower risk of breast cancer (AOR = 0.07; 95% CI: 0.021–0.21) compared to those who breastfed for a shorter duration. Younger mothers had a 95% lower likelihood of developing breast cancer (AOR = 0.05; 95% CI: 0.003–0.91) than older mothers. Additionally, mothers with sedentary behaviour were 10.53 times more likely to develop breast cancer (AOR = 10.53; 95% CI: 5.21–21.36) than those who were moderately or highly active. Mothers who experienced chest therapy were 6.43 times more likely to develop breast cancer (AOR = 6.43; 95% CI: 3.20–13.90) compared to those who had not. Conclusions. Interventions such as breastfeeding counselling and promoting the recommended duration of breastfeeding are crucial in minimizing the risk of breast cancer. Enhancing physical activity should also be viewed as a vital approach for lowering breast cancer risk. Aim: To construct evidence-based sensitive quality indicators for patients' rapid rehabilitation care after combined pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and to provide a reference for clinical nursing professionals to scientifically evaluate the quality of patients' rehabilitation post-PD. Background: Since PD is associated with higher surgical risk and anastomotic complications, it leads to higher complication rates and longer postoperative recovery cycles. This reiterates the need for rapid recovery of patients after PD; however, the evaluation of sensitive nursing care indicators regarding rapid recovery post-PD has not yet been established to date. Methods: Based on the Donabedian structure-process-result theory model, we used available literature, semi-structured interviews, the Delphi method, and hierarchical analysis to establish a sensitive indicator system for patients' rapid rehabilitation after PD and evaluate the importance of such indicators. Results: There were two rounds of expert correspondence, and the effective recovery rate of the questionnaires of these rounds was 100%. The expert authority coefficients, as well as the Kendall coordination coefficients of the expert opinions, were 0.859 and 0.872 as well as 0.423 and 0.431, with statistically significant differences (p < 0.05), respectively. Consequently, we developed a sensitive quality index system for patients' rapid rehabilitation care after combined PD, including 3 first-level, 12 s-level, and 23 third-level indexes, respectively. Conclusion: The constructed sensitive quality index system developed for patients' rapid rehabilitation nursing care after combined PD is standardized, practical, and aligned with the specialty characteristics. Furthermore, this might help greatly in improving the quality and safety of patients' rapid rehabilitation nursing care after combined PD, standardizing nursing management skills, and enhancing nursing quality. Background: Work-family enrichment refers to the extent to which experiences in one role improve the quality of life in another role, and the bidirectionality indicates that benefits derived from work can be applied to family and vice versa. Parent nurses, that is, female nurses who are raising preschool children, play a major role at work and in the family. Thus, work-family enrichment is significant for them. The Work-Family Enrichment Scale cannot be generalized to parent nurses. This study was aimed at developing and psychometrically validating a draft Work-Family Enrichment Scale for Parent Nurses. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among 1,090 parent nurses who were randomly sampled from hospitals with more than 200 beds in Japan. The survey evaluated (1) a draft Work-Family Enrichment Scale for Parent Nurses, (2) the Japanese version of the Work-Family Enrichment Scale, and (3) the Positive Spillover Scale. The scales were psychometrically evaluated for internal consistency, construct validity, and criterion-related validity. Results: Data from 503 participants (age, mean ± standard deviation [range] 35.5 ± 4.96 [23–47] years) were analyzed. Results of exploratory factor analysis, the work to family enrichment direction yielded five factors for 23 items: "emotional fulfillment," "efficiency," "ability to lead," "displaying industriousness," and "self-growth." Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranged from 0.862 to 0.914. In the family-to-work enrichment direction, there were five factors for 28 items: "help-seeking," "receptiveness," "expansion of one's horizon," "efficiency," and "emotional fulfillment." Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranged from 0.790 to 0.907. Additionally, the correlation coefficients reporting criterion-related validity were 0.685 and 0.619 with regard to the Japanese version of the Work-Family Enrichment Scale and 0.596 and 0.534 with the Positive Spillover Scale for the Work-to-Family Enrichment Scale and the Family-to-Work Enrichment Scale for Parent Nurses, respectively. Conclusions: The Work-Family Enrichment Scale for Parent Nurses has adequate reliability and validity and can be used as an effective measure to assess the positive aspects of work and family roles among female parent nurses. Background: Improvements in oxygenation and lung mechanics with prone position (PP) in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are inconstant. The objectives of the study were (i) to identify baseline variables, including the recruitment-to-inflation ratio (R/I), associated with a positive response to PP in terms of oxygenation (improvement of the ratio of arterial oxygen partial pressure over the inspired oxygen fraction (PaO2/FiO2) ≥ 20 mmHg) and lung mechanics; (ii) to evaluate whether the response to the previous PP session is associated with the response to the next session. Methods: In this prospective, observational, single-center study in patients who underwent PP for ARDS due to COVID-19, respiratory variables were assessed just before PP and at the end of the session. Respiratory variables included mechanical ventilation settings and respiratory mechanics variables, including R/I, an estimate of the potential for lung recruitment compared to lung overinflation. Results: In 50 patients, 201 PP sessions lasting 19 ± 3 h were evaluated. Neuromuscular blockades were used in 116 (58%) sessions. The PaO2/FiO2 ratio increased from 109 ± 31 mmHg to 165 ± 65 mmHg, with an increase ≥ 20 mmHg in 142 (71%) sessions. In a mixed effect logistic regression, only pre-PP PaO2/FiO2 (OR 1.12 (95% CI [1.01–1.24])/every decrease of 10 mmHg, p = 0.034) in a first model and improvement in oxygenation at the previous PP session (OR 3.69 (95% CI [1.27–10.72]), p = 0.017) in a second model were associated with an improvement in oxygenation with PP. The R/I ratio (n = 156 sessions) was 0.53 (0.30–0.76), separating lower- and higher-recruiters. Whereas PaO2/FiO2 improved to the same level in both subgroups, driving pressure and respiratory system compliance improved only in higher-recruiters (from 14 ± 4 to 12 ± 4 cmH2O, p = 0.027, and from 34 ± 11 to 38 ± 13 mL/cmH2O, respectively, p = 0.014). Conclusions: A lower PaO2/FiO2 at baseline and a positive O2-response at the previous PP session are associated with a PP-induced improvement in oxygenation. Background: Frozen shoulder is an incapacitating disease that causes pain and limitation in the shoulder joint functional capacity. This work aimed to assess the efficacy of ultrasound-guided combined intra-articular corticosteroids (CS) injection and suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) in pain control in patients with frozen shoulders. Results: Our prospective study included 40 patients, equally divided into two groups: group A; managed with combined ultrasound (US) guided intra-articular corticosteroids injection (IACSI) and SSNB, and group B patients managed with US-guided SSNB. The visual analog scale score statistically significantly improved after both injections. This success was maintained and showed mild improvement at 8-week intervals (with increased patient capability to do physiotherapy after pain control). Similarly, improvement in the functional capacity of the shoulder joint was identified and assessed by the Oxford shoulder score (OSS) in both groups. Mean OSS was statistically significantly higher at 4-week intervals than before the nerve block for groups A and B. At 8 weeks interval, this favorable result was sustained (p <.001). Conclusions: US-guided SSNB is an effective, radiation-free method to alleviate frozen shoulder-related pains. Background: The mandibular retromolar space (RMS) has not been extensively studied in relation to various sagittal skeletal classes and patterns of third-molar eruption. The objective of this study was to test the null hypothesis that there is no difference in the mandibular RMS among normodivergent subjects with different skeletal classes and patterns of mandibular third-molar eruption, using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Method: A total of 105 normodivergent patients (20–40 years) were included in this study. Participants were categorized into Class I, II and III groups based on ANB and further impacted and erupted groups based on the eruption patterns of the mandibular third molars. Measurements of the mandibular RMS were taken at four planes parallel to the occlusal plane, along the cusp line. Comparative analyses were conducted among the three sagittal groups and between the impacted and erupted groups. Results: The Class II group exhibited a statistically smaller RMS (P < 0.05). RMS was found to be larger in third-molar erupted group (P < 0.05). The rates of root contact and third-molar impaction was significantly higher in Class II group. (P < 0.05) Conclusions: The null hypothesis was rejected. Patients with Skeletal Class II tend to have a smaller mandibular RMS and a higher prevalence of root contact and third-molar impaction. Background: Limbic structures have recently garnered increased attention in Parkinson's disease (PD) research. This study aims to explore changes at the whole-brain level in the structural network, specifically the white matter fibres connecting the thalamus and limbic system, and their correlation with the clinical characteristics of patients with PD. Methods: Between December 2020 and November 2021, we prospectively enrolled 42 patients with PD and healthy controls at the movement disorder centre. All participants underwent diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), 3D T1- weighted imaging (3D-T1WI), and routine brain magnetic resonance imaging on a 3.0 T MR scanner. We employed the tract-based spatial statistical (TBSS) analytic approach, examined structural network properties, and conducted probabilistic fibre tractography to identify alterations in white matter pathways and the topological organisation associated with PD. Results: In patients with PD, significant changes were observed in the fibrous tracts of the prefrontal lobe, corpus callosum, and thalamus. Notably, the fibrous tracts in the prefrontal lobe and corpus callosum showed a moderate negative correlation with the Freezing of Gait Questionnaire (FOG-Q) scores (r = -0.423, p = 0.011). The hippocampus and orbitofrontal gyrus exhibited more fibre bundle parameter changes than other limbic structures. The mean streamline length between the thalamus and the orbitofrontal gyrus demonstrated a moderate negative correlation with Movement Disorder Society Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) III (r = -0.435, p = 0.006). Topological parameters, including characteristic path length (Lp), global efficiency (Eg), normalised shortest path length (λ) and nodal local efficiency (Nle), correlated moderately with the MDS-UPDRS, HAMA, MoCA, PDQ-39, and FOG-Q, respectively. Conclusion: DTI is a valuable tool for detecting changes in water molecule dispersion and the topological structure of the brain in patients with PD. Background: Primary health-care workers (PHWs) managed increased workloads and pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study conducted a national survey examining burnout among PHWs at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, and identifies related factors. By doing so, it addresses the gap in understanding the burnout situation among PHWs at a national level, taking into account urban-rural disparities. Methods: We conducted a nationwide cross-sectional survey of PHWs in China from May to October 2022, covering 31 provinces. The MBI-HSS was used to measure overall burnout and emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP), and reduced personal accomplishment (PA). We used multivariable logistic regression to identify risk factors, and subgroup analyses to identify differences between rural and urban areas. Results: 3769 PHWs from 44 primary health-care institutions completed the survey. Overall, 16.6% reported overall burnout, and the prevalence of EE, DP, and reduced PA was 29.7%, 28.0%, and 62.9%, respectively. The prevalence of overall burnout (17.6% vs. 13.7%, P = 0.004) and EE (31.5% vs. 24.8%, P < 0.001) was higher in urban than rural areas (AOR = 1.285; 95%CI, 1.021–1.617). Job satisfaction was a protective factor against burnout in both settings. The protective factors of overall burnout, EE and DP vary between urban and rural areas. Conclusions: The Mental Health Status Questionnaire-Short Form (MSQ-SF) score functioned as a protective factor against burnout across both rural and urban locales, highlighting the intrinsic link between job satisfaction and burnout. Other influencing factors differed between urban and rural areas, so interventions should be tailored to local conditions. Rural married PHWs experienced the lower prevalence of burnout indicates the support structure may play a significant role. Background: In 2019, the world faced a pandemic brought about by a severe acute respiratory infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus. The spread of this virus has profoundly affected societies, particularly in terms of their economic, human and social dimensions, as well as their healthcare systems. Several restrictive measures (reduced social interaction, periodic school closures,...) had to be taken to contain the spread of the virus. These measures have had an impact on the psychological well-being of both adults and children. The aim of this study was to assess the changes in psychotropic drugs prescriptions for children and adolescents living in Limousin, a French region, over the period 2018 to 2021. Methods: The consumption of psychotropic drugs was studied using a national database of drug reimbursement. These data were extracted and supplied from the nationwide French reimbursement healthcare system database (SNDS). The following therapeutic classes were studied: N05A (antipsychotics), N05B (anxiolytics), N05C (hypnotics and sedatives), N06A (antidepressants) and N06B (psychostimulants). Data were collected for insured persons under the age of 18 who received at least one reimbursement for a psychotropic drug between 2018 and 2021. Results: Over a 4-year period, 7949 patients under the age of 18 were included with an average age of 12.1 years and a sex ratio of 0.97 M/F. The number of patients increased from 2018 to 2021, as did the number of reimbursements. We observed a statistically significant difference of means of patients reimbursed per week for on five therapeutic classes, with the greatest difference in 2021 (p < 0.0001). An increase in the number of patients of between + 20.7% and + 689% was observed, depending on the drug classes studied. Comparisons between the COVID-19 and pre-COVID-19 periods showed a significantly higher COVID average for psychotropic drugs reimbursements in general and individually for all classes except psychostimulants. Conclusion: The results show a significant increase in the consumption of psychotropic drugs among youth. The increase in psychotropic drug use was continuous and progressive throughout the pandemic. All five classes were increased, but particularly anxiolytics and antidepressants. The COVID-19 context may have been at the origin of a deterioration in the mental health of children and adolescents, or of a heightened awareness of psychiatric care among young people. Background: The interrelation between infections, subjective cognitive decline (SCD), and dementia development is recognized, but not fully understood. This study explored the combined effect of specific infections and SCD on the risk of dementia. Objectives: To assess the influence of Helicobacter pylori, herpes simplex virus, varicella-zoster virus, and human papillomavirus on dementia risk in individuals with varying cognitive statuses, especially focusing on those with and without SCD. Methods: A cohort of 1,100,540 participants aged 66 years from the Korean National Health Insurance Service was divided into cognitively preserved (CP, n = 825,405) and SCD (n = 275,135) groups. This study analyzed the effects of single, dual, and triple infections on the risk of overall dementia, Alzheimer's disease (AD), and vascular dementia (VaD) using incidence rates and hazard ratios. Results: The SCD group consistently showed a doubled risk of dementia, particularly AD, regardless of the number of infections. In the initial data, both the presence and number of infections, especially in the CP group, were associated with an increased dementia incidence and risk; however, this correlation disappeared after adjusting for covariates, hinting at a possible protective effect. Conclusion: Our findings emphasize that, while SCD is a steadfast risk factor for dementia, the role of infections is layered, subject to various influences, and requires more comprehensive exploration to fully understand their impact on dementia development. Background: Swine flu might serve as a model for challenges that primary care faces during pandemics. This study examined changes in the numbers and diagnoses of general practitioner (GP) visits during and after the Swine flu pandemic in Vantaa, a Finnish city, and how GP activities recovered after the pandemic. Putative sex and age group differences were also evaluated. Methods: The study was an observational retrospective study. The monthly number of patient visits to primary care GPs by women and men in age groups 0–19, 20–64 and 65 + years was recorded before, during and two years after the Swine flu pandemic. The recorded diagnoses were also examined. The investigation period was from 2008 to 2012. Results: The numbers of monthly visits to primary care decreased from 12 324 (mean) to 10 817 in women and from 8563 to 7612 in men during the first six months of the Swine flu, returning to the original level afterwards. This decrease was thus slightly more prominent in women. However, as the size of the population increased during the follow-up period, the actual number of GP visits adjusted for the size of population remained at a decreased level for two years after the Swine flu. This decrease was observed especially in office-hours visits of men (from 3692 to 3260) and women (from 6301 to 5428) of 20–64 years. Swine flu did not alter the number of visits to the primary care Emergency Department. The proportion of visits with diagnostic recordings of common infectious diseases mostly decreased during the Swine flu. Only a minor impact on the distribution of recordings of chronic diagnoses was found. Conclusion: A pandemic, such as Swine flu, may decrease office-hours visits to primary care GPs. This in turn may lead to activities of primary care being adjusted downward for a long time following the pandemic. Especially the age group 20–64 years may be affected. This risk should be considered when recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic begins. Objective. Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT), also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, represents the most prevalent autoimmune thyroid disorder globally. The potential influence of HT on the clinical and pathological attributes, as well as the clinical outcomes of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC), remains a point of ongoing debate within the medical community. The central focus of this study was to analyze the influence of HT on clinico‐pathological characteristics and its prognostic impact in a large cohort of DTC from Middle Eastern ethnicity. Design, Patients, Measurements. An extensive analysis involving 1822 DTC patients was conducted to determine the association with clinico‐pathological characteristics as well as prognosis, using Chi‐square tests and Kaplan‐Meier curves. Results. 23.9% (435/1822) of DTC patients were diagnosed with HT. Univariate analysis revealed a positive correlation between presence of HT and clinico‐pathological factors such as female gender, younger age, and early stage tumor. In contrast, HT demonstrated a negative association with several aggressive clinical features, including extrathyroidal extension, distant metastasis, recurrent/persistent disease and high‐risk categorization by the American Thyroid Association (ATA) guidelines. Despite HT being associated with favorable clinico‐pathological features in Middle Eastern DTC patient, our study found no significant influence on overall survival or recurrence‐free survival. Conclusion. The finding of an association between HT and favorable clinico‐pathological characteristics, but lack of impact on prognosis, underscores the complexity of HT‐DTC relationship, necessitating further comprehensive research to fully understand these interactions. The increased funding provided for Community Health Worker (CHW) hiring and training as part of the COVID‐19 pandemic response was to increase their impact in alleviating the effects of negative social determinants of health in the lives of the most vulnerable individuals and communities. This enhanced use of CHW in vulnerable populations can also be used to improve access to such populations for applied research to study ways to improve health outcomes for low‐income minority populations. We carried out a feasibility study using the State CHW association as partners to reach CHWs working with low‐income minority population. Three hundred and three (303) clients of CHWs were interviewed on various demographic, health access, and employment information and both univariate and multivariate analyses was used to determine factors associated with being unvaccinated against COVID‐19 and chi‐squared used to determine if employment was associated with having health insurance. About half of the clients self‐identified as Black/African American and half as Hispanic. Two‐thirds were women and 52.1% were unemployed and 55.1% had no health insurance. There was no association between employment status and having health insurance. Majority (71.6%) had received one dose of a type of COVID‐19 vaccine and being younger and being African American were associated with not getting a dose of COVID‐19 vaccine, as well as being unemployed and not having health insurance. Most of the clients came to see the CHW about a Health/Healthcare issue of the five social determinants of health (SDOH). There were 38 different job titles provided by the clients and the job titles were mainly blue collar jobs and jobs in health and personal care. Our results indicate that CHWs reach the most vulnerable population who have limited health access and high unemployment and that CHWs can effectively be used for linkage to low‐income minority population for applied research. Our analyses found that in this low‐income population, being younger, being African American, being unemployed, and not having health insurance are each associated with not getting vaccinated against COVID‐19, and employment is not associated with having health insurance. We have shown that partnership with CHWs to access their clients as research subjects leads to elucidating new information on the population that can be used in addressing public health programming. Background: Poly-victimization (PV) not only threatens physical and mental health but also causes a range of social problems. Left-behind children in rural areas are more likely to experience PV problems. However, there have been fewer studies on PV among rural children, and even fewer intervention studies. Objective: The difference-in-differences method was employed to analyze the impact of intervention measures, based on the theory of planned behavior, on PV among left-behind children in rural areas. Methods: The study subjects were left-behind children from six middle schools in two cities in southern China, who completed the baseline survey from 2020 to 2021. They were divided into a control group and an intervention group, each consisting of 228 cases, based on their schools. Before and after the intervention, the Self-made victimization-related knowledge, attitude, and practice questionnaire, Poly-victimization scale, and Middle school students' coping style scale were used to evaluate the victimization-related KAP(knowledge, attitude, and practice), victimization occurrence, and coping styles of left-behind children, respectively. Stata 15.0 was used to establish a difference-in-differences regression model to analyze the impact of the intervention measures on poly-victimization and coping styles. Results: Mixed Anova revealed that after the intervention, the KAP scores of the intervention group were significantly higher than those of the control group (p < 0.05). After the intervention, the incidence of child victimization in the intervention group dropped to 9.60% (n = 22), lower than in the baseline survey, with a statistically significant difference (p < 0.01). The incidence of PV among children in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, with the difference being statistically significant (p < 0.01). The net reduction in the incidence of PV among children was 21.20%. After the intervention, the protection rate for preventing PV among children was 73.33%, and the effect index was 3.75. The intervention improved children's coping styles, problem-solving, and help-seeking, while reducing negative coping styles such as avoidance and venting, with the differences being statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Intervention measures based on the theory of planned behavior reduce the occurrence of PV among left-behind children, and the intervention effects on different types of victimization are also different. Background: Despite efforts to promote guideline use, guideline adoption is often suboptimal due to failure to identify and address relevant barriers. Barriers vary not only between guidelines but also between settings, intended users, and targeted patients. Multi-professional guidelines are often used in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), making the implementation process more difficult. Despite this, there is a lack of knowledge about which barriers to consider or if barriers vary by profession. The aim of this study was to address these gaps by examining barriers to adopting a multi-professional depression guideline in the context of a nationwide implementation study. Methods: 440 CAMHS clinicians across Sweden (52%) completed the Barriers and Facilitators Assessment Instrument (BFAI) ahead of an implementation endeavour. BFAI is a widely used and validated measure of guideline implementation on four scales: Innovation, Provider, Context, and Patient. Barriers were calculated at scale and at item levels. ANOVA and chi-square tests were used to analyse differences by profession and effect sizes were calculated. Results: Overall, clinicians were optimistic about guideline uptake, particularly about guideline characteristics and their own adoption ability. Barriers were related to the patient and the context domains, as well as to individual clinician knowledge and training. Perceptions differed across professions; psychiatrists were most, and counsellors were least positive about guideline embeddedness. Conclusion: This large-scale quantitative study suggests that CAMHS clinicians have an overall favourable attitude towards guideline adoption but highlights the need for adaptations to certain patient groups. Strategies to improve guideline use should primarily address these patient issues while securing proper support to the implementation. Implementation efforts, particularly those targeting staff knowledge, training, and involvement, may benefit from being tailored to different professional needs. Background: A positive work environment can enhance nursing safety and patient satisfaction while alleviating nurse stress. Conversely, a poor work environment can harm nurses' physical and mental health and compromise the quality of care, particularly in the high-intensity and shift-based setting of the ICU. Objectives: Based on the Job demands-resources (JD-R) model, this study examined the effects of job demands and job resources in the work environment, as well as personal resources, on the night-shift alertness of ICU shift nurses. Methods: This cross-sectional correlational exploratory study, conducted from July to September 2022, recruited 291 ICU shift nurses from a hospital in Beijing, China. The Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ), the Self-resilience scale, the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), and the Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT) were used to subjectively and objectively measure the job demands, job resources, personal resources, and night-shift alertness. SPSS 26.0 and Mplus 8.3 were used to analyze the data and construct the structural equation model. Results: The night-shift reaction time was 251.0 ms (Median), indicating a relatively high level of alertness. Job demands were negatively correlated with both job resources (r=-0.570, P < 0.001) and personal resources (r=-0.462, P < 0.001), while a positive correlation existed between job resources and personal resources (r = 0.554, P < 0.001). The results show that increased job demands can lead to higher levels of nurse strain (β = 0.955, P < 0.001), whereas job resources were found that it can decrease strain (β=-0.477, P = 0.047). Adequate job resources can enhance motivation directly (β = 0.874, P < 0.001), subsequently reducing reaction time (β=-0.148, P = 0.044) and improving night-shift alertness among ICU shift nurses. Conclusion: Enhancing ICU shift nurses' work motivation through bolstering job resources can boost night-shift alertness. However, it is noteworthy that, in this study, neither strain nor individual resources significantly influenced nurses' night-shift alertness. This may be attributed to the complexity of the ICU environment and individual differences. Future research should explore the relationship between these factors and nurses' work alertness. Background: Although artificial intelligence (AI) has potential in the field of screening of breast cancer, there are still issues. It is vital to make sure AI does not overlook cancer or cause needless recalls. The aim of this work was to investigate the effectiveness of indulging AI in combination with one radiologist in the routine double reading of mammography for breast cancer screening. The study prospectively analyzed 32,822 screening mammograms. Reading was performed in a blind-paired style by (i) two radiologists and (ii) one radiologist paired with AI. A heatmap and abnormality scoring percentage were provided by AI for abnormalities detected on mammograms. Negative mammograms and benign-looking lesions that were not biopsied were confirmed by a 2-year follow-up. Results: Double reading by the radiologist and AI detected 1324 cancers (6.4%); on the other side, reading by two radiologists revealed 1293 cancers (6.2%) and presented a relative proportion of 1·02 (p < 0·0001). At the recall stage, suspicion and biopsy recommendation were more presented by the AI plus one radiologist combination than by the two radiologists. The interpretation of the mammogram by AI plus only one radiologist showed a sensitivity of 94.03%, a specificity of 99.75%, a positive predictive value of 96.571%, a negative predictive value of 99.567%, and an accuracy of 99.369% (from 99.252 to 99.472%). The positive likelihood ratio was 387.260, negative likelihood ratio was 0.060, and AUC "area under the curve" was 0.969 (0.967–0.971). Conclusions: AI could be used as an initial reader for the evaluation of screening mammography in routine workflow. Background: The overlapping clinical manifestations in parkinsonian variant of multiple system atrophy (MSA-P) and Parkinson's Disease (PD) can complicate clinical diagnostic accuracy, particularly in the early stage. The study aims to uncover the patterns of brain function in the initial phase of the two conditions. Methods: We recruited 24 MSA-P patients, 34 PD patients and 27 healthy controls (HC). Voxel-wise fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF) was compared to characterize regional brain function, followed by seedbased functional connectivity (FC) analysis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses were used to examine the diagnostic accuracy of fALFF. Results: Compared to HC, decreased fALFF was observed in the bilateral basal ganglia (BG) of MSA-P patients, while decreased fALFF was identified in the left BG of PD patients. Additionally, elevated fALFF was found in the superior cerebellum for MSA-P patients and the temporo-occipital cortex for PD patients. Furthermore, PD patients exhibited increased FC in the cortico-striatal loop compared to MSA-P patients. The fALFF of the left caudate distinguished MSA-P from HC with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.838 (p < 0.001) and from PD with an AUC of 0.772 (p < 0.001). The fALFF of the left putamen distinguished PD from HC with an AUC of 0.736 (p = 0.002). Conclusion: Our findings indicated common and distinct abnormalities in spontaneous brain activity within BG, cerebellum, and cortices in early-stage MSA-P and PD patients. Background: Stable mild cognitive impairment (sMCI) and progressive mild cognitive impairment (pMCI) represent two distinct subtypes of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Early and effective diagnosis and accurate differentiation between sMCI and pMCI are crucial for administering targeted early intervention and preventing cognitive decline. This study investigated the intrinsic dysconnectivity patterns in sMCI and pMCI based on degree centrality (DC) and effective connectivity (EC) analyses, with the goal of uncovering shared and distinct neuroimaging mechanisms between subtypes. Methods: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging combined with DC analysis was used to explore the functional connectivity density in 42 patients with sMCI, 31 patients with pMCI, and 82 healthy control (HC) participants. Granger causality analysis was used to assess changes in EC based on the significant clusters found in DC. Furthermore, correlation analysis was conducted to examine the associations between altered DC/EC values and cognitive function. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to determine the accuracy of abnormal DC and EC values in distinguishing sMCI from pMCI. Results: Compared with the HC group, both pMCI and sMCI groups exhibited increased DC in the left inferior temporal gyrus (ITG), left posterior cerebellum lobe (CPL), and right cerebellum anterior lobe (CAL), along with decreased DC in the left medial frontal gyrus. Moreover, the sMCI group displayed reduced EC from the right CAL to bilateral CPL, left superior temporal gyrus, and bilateral caudate compared with HC. pMCI demonstrated elevated EC from the right CAL to left ITG, which was linked to episodic memory and executive function. Notably, the EC from the right CAL to the right ITG effectively distinguished sMCI from pMCI, with sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 0.5806, 0.9512, and 0.828, respectively. Conclusion: This study uncovered shared and distinct alterations in DC and EC between sMCI and pMCI, highlighting their involvement in cognitive function. Of particular significance are the unidirectional EC disruptions from the cerebellum to the temporal lobe, which serve as a discriminating factor between sMCI and pMCI and provide a new perspective for understanding the temporal-cerebellum. Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic autoimmune inflammatory disorder characterized by synovial inflammation that leads to joint damage, bony erosions, and related deformities. Between 30 and 70% of RA patients will experience anemia. Early detection of anemia is of great importance. This study aimed to evaluate the serum level of hepcidin (HEP) in RA patients and to assess its relation to disease activity and anemia. The current cross-sectional study included 44 cases with RA in addition to 44 healthy controls. The disease activity in the RA patient was assessed by using the disease activity score (DAS) 28 score-CRP. The serum levels of HEP and ferritin were assessed in both groups using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. Results: Hepcidin level in the RA group was statistically significantly higher as compared to the control group (p = 0.001). The prevalence of Anemia of chronic disease (ACD) was 40.9%, and iron deficiency anemia (IDA) was 27.3% which accounted for 68.2% of the total anemia cases. The HEP level was statistically significantly higher in the RA patients with ACD than those without anemia (P = 0.028), RA patients with IDA (P < 0.001), and control group (P < 0.001). There was a statistically significant positive correlation between HEP level and serum ferritin level (p = 0.005). HEP level was significantly and inversely correlated with hemoglobin (Hb) in patients with ACD. Serum HEP level is higher in RA patients with high disease activity than those with moderate activity, low activity, and patients in remission (p = 0.380). However, the difference was not statistically significant. The best cutoff point of HEP level to identify RA patients from healthy controls was > 355.5 Pg/ml. This point showed moderate sensitivity (70.5%) with moderate specificity (63.6%) with a statistically significant value. Conclusions: We found the anemia, and particularly ACD, is more common in RA patients. In RA patients with ACD, serum HEP levels were considerably higher. Although serum HEP showed no diagnostic significance when it came to evaluating disease activity, it could be a dependable non-invasive biomarker for the diagnosis of various forms of anemia in RA patients. Background: There is overwhelming evidence of improved patient outcomes as a result of early mobilization in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, several barriers of ICU mobility remain understated with reference to clinical roles. The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceived barriers of early mobility of critically ill patients among ICU healthcare providers. Methods: In this cross‐sectional study, the Mobilization Attitudes and Beliefs Survey (PMABS‐ICU) was administered to ICU healthcare providers using an online survey. The study investigated barriers related to knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding ICU mobility practices. These barriers were compared among different ICU clinical roles. Results: The survey yielded a total number of 214 healthcare providers with 41% female and 59% male. Respiratory therapists reported the highest perceived barriers to ICU mobility (M 39, IQR 36, 43) % compared to physical therapists (who reported the lowest barriers), occupational therapists, nurses, and physicians (p ≤ 0.05). ICU healthcare providers' behavior towards ICU mobility such as perceived benefits and safety is ranked as the primary barrier (M 49, IQR 42, 52) %. Professional experience did not significantly vary among all groups. Conclusion: Our findings highlight that ICU healthcare providers' perceptions, including both potential benefits and safety concerns regarding mobility, are significant barriers to implement mobility practices. ICU mobility barriers should be tackled by providing education and training. Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection significantly contributes to the global cancer burden. Understanding the factors influencing male clinical interns' willingness to promote HPV vaccination is crucial for developing effective public health strategies in China. Methods: This study employed a stratified random sampling method to select 1,980 male clinical interns from five provinces in China between January and March 2024. Data were collected on participants' demographic characteristics, HPV-related clinical experience, and knowledge. The Theory of Planned Behavior framework, encompassing attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, was used to examine factors influencing the willingness to promote the HPV vaccine. Logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors associated with the willingness to promote the HPV vaccine. Results: Among the respondents, 72.29% were willing to encourage others to receive the HPV vaccine. Significant factors influencing this willingness included older age (OR = 3.065, P ≤ 0.001), higher monthly household income (OR = 1.449, P = 0.025), participation in the diagnosis and treatment of HPV-related diseases (OR = 3.458, P ≤ 0.001), positive attitude towards the vaccine (OR = 13.503, P = 0.004), and strong perceived behavioral control (OR = 2.364, P = 0.006). Conclusion: This study highlights the critical role of practical experience and targeted education in promoting HPV vaccination among male clinical interns in China. Objective: To investigate the current situation of innovative behavior and organizational structure authorization of ophthalmic specialty nurses in China, and analyze the influencing factors of innovative behavior. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out among 301 ophthalmic specialty nurses in China, representing Representing 82 hospitals in 25 provinces, using a general data questionnaire, Innovative Behavior Scale(IBS), and conditions of work effectiveness questionnaire(CWEQ-II). Results: The mean total score for innovative behavior among Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses was (4.73 ± 1.14), and the mean total score for organizational structure authorization was (61.65 ± 14.69). The logistic regression analysis revealed that organizational structure authorization, hospital grade, and ophthalmic specialty nurses primarily engaged in clinical care and clinical research had statistically significant impacts on the level of innovative behavior (P < 0.05). The higher the organizational structure authorization score, the higher the innovative behavior level of ophthalmic specialty nurses, the level of innovation behavior of grade-B tertiary hospitals is higher than that of grade-A tertiary hospitals. The main positions are low level of innovative behavior in clinical care and high level of innovative behavior in clinical research. Conclusions: The innovative behavior and organizational structure authorization of Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses are at a medium level, the innovative behavior of ophthalmic specialty nurses is influenced by factors such as organizational structure empowerment level, hospital grade, and main job position. Nursing managers are advised to develop tailored training programs based on the influencing factors of innovative behavior among Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses, in order to enhance their level of innovation and improve the quality of nursing services provided by Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses. Background: Narrative nursing is a novel approach according with humanistic care, which has been shown to be effective in improving health outcomes for both patients and nurses. Nevertheless, few studies have investigated the status of narrative nursing practice among nurses, and a comprehensive understanding of factors influencing this practice remains elusive. Design: This was an observational, cross-sectional study using convenience sampling method. Methods: After obtaining the informed consent, a total of 931 registered nurses from three hospitals in China were investigated. Data were collected using the Social Support Rating Scale, the General Self-efficacy Scale, and the Knowledge-Attitude-Practice Survey of Clinical Nurses on Narrative Nursing. All the scales were validated in the Chinese population. The questionnaire results were verified by an independent investigator. Factors influencing narrative nursing practice were determined through a series of analyses, including independent sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlations. Subsequently, path analysis was performed and a structural equation model was established. Results: The score of narrative nursing practice in this study was 30.26 ± 5.32. The structural equation model showed a good fit, with a Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) of 0.007 (90%CI: 0.000, 0.047). Both social support and narrative nursing attitude could directly affect narrative nursing practice (βsocial support = 0.08, P < 0.001; βattitude = 0.54, P < 0.001) and indirectly influence it via self-efficacy (βsocial support = 0.04, P < 0.001; βattitude = 0.06, P < 0.001). In addition, narrative nursing knowledge (β = 0.08, P < 0.001) and the nurses' growth environment (β=-0.06, P < 0.001) also affected the practice of narrative nursing. Conclusion: Narrative nursing in China is at a medium level and could be influenced by several personal and environmental factors. This study highlighted the critical role of nursing management in the advancement of narrative nursing practices. Objectives: Financial strain has important consequences for patients, providers, and health care systems. However, there is currently no gold standard measure to screen for financial strain. This study compared the performance of 3 single-item screeners using a composite measure of financial strain as a "gold standard." Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of unweighted data from a 2021 survey of Kaiser Permanente Northern California health plan members comparing the percentages of adults who experienced financial strain based on 3 general single-item screeners, a screener specific to medical and dental health care use, and a composite financial strain measure. The study sample was comprised of 2734 non-Medicaid insured adults who answered all financial strain questions. Kappa statistics evaluating agreement of the 3 general screeners with the composite measure were calculated for the sample overall, by age group, and within age group, by 4 levels of income and 4 racial/ethnic subgroups. Results: Among 947 adults aged 35 to 65, 30.7% had just enough money or not enough money to make ends meet, 23.3% had a somewhat hard or hard time paying for basics, 18.8% had trouble paying for ≥1 type of expense, 20.5% had delayed/used less medical/dental care, and 41.5% had experienced financial strain based on the composite measure. Among 1787 adults aged 66 to 85, the percentages who screened positive on these measures were 22.7%, 19.4%, 12.9%, 19.8%, and 34.4%, respectively. Across the sample, by income categories and racial/ethnic groups, the making ends meet screener identified higher percentages of adults experiencing financial strain and performed better when compared with the composite measure than the hard to pay for the very basics and trouble paying for expenses screeners. Overall, substantial decreases in the percentages of adults who screened positive on the financial strain measures were seen as level of income increased. Within income categories, middle-aged adults were more likely than older adults to have experienced financial strain based on the composite and general single-item screeners. Conclusions: As social risk screening becomes part of the standard of care, it will be important to assess how well different brief screeners for financial strain perform with diverse patient populations. Background: Child maltreatment (CM) can have devastating and potentially lifelong effects for those affected and is a major contributor to mental health problems. To tackle public health problems it is crucial to have reliable data on CM. The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence and predictors of CM in a nationwide sample of the German population of young adults. Methods: The study population (young adults aged 18 to 31 years) stems from the KiGGS Cohort study, the longitudinal branch of the German Health Interview and Examination Survey for children and adolescents. This sample meets the criteria of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicator 16.2.3. The data was collected between 2014 and 2017. CM were assessed with the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) in. In addition, socio-demographic variables and other known risk factors for CM were assessed. A total of 6433 (47.8% female) participants were included in the analyses. Binary logistic regression analyses were used to investigate predictors of maltreatment subtypes. Ordinal regression was used to examine their association with experience of multiple forms of CM. Results: Overall, 18.4% (f: 20.9%, m: 16.1%) of the participants reported having experienced at least one type of CM; 6.7% (f: 8.8%, m: 4.8%) reported experiences of emotional abuse, 3.7% (f: 3.9%, m: 3.5%) physical abuse, 3.5% (f: 5.3%, m: 1.7%) sexual abuse, 9.0% (f: 9.9%, m: 8.2%) emotional neglect and 8.6% (f: 8.5%, m: 8.7%) physical neglect. Gender, subjective social status, education and household dysfunction (e.g. living with an individual who is using substances) emerged as significant predictors for different types of CM. Additionally, all these factors were significant risk factors for experiencing cumulative CM. Conclusions: CM is common in the German population, with almost one in five people experiencing at least one type of CM. The results reveal important risk factors for the occurrence of CM. In particular, people with lower social status and those who grew up in dysfunctional households are at higher risk of CM. Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases globally that may have side effects on liver and renal function. Pharmacological treatments to reduce adverse liver and renal effects are still limited. It has been proposed that silymarin may possess hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties. The present trial aims to assess the hepatorenal protective efficacy of silymarin supplementation in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy in an outpatient setting. Method: This is a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial that recruited female breast cancer patients. Participants were randomly assigned to one placebo group and two intervention groups. The control group received 140 mg of placebo daily, while the two intervention groups received 140 mg silymarin daily. Follow-up assessments were conducted at baseline, 3 weeks, and 6 weeks. At the beginning of the study, the patients were subjected to a computed tomography (CT) scan, and the liver and renal parameters such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), bilirubin, Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and Creatinine (Cr) were examined through laboratory tests. Results: Despite two deaths and three dropouts, 100 patients completed the study. Silymarin showed significant effects on liver enzymes in the levels of ALP and bilirubin (P < 0.05), with no significant impact on renal function in the levels of Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and Creatinine (Cr) (P > 0.05). The medication was well-tolerated, with minimal reported side effects (P > 0.05). Discussion: The study suggests that silymarin may have hepato-renal protective potential in breast cancer patients and improve patient tolerance to chemotherapy. The data presented on the efficacy and safety of silymarin may provide stronger foundation for further trials and for a possible use in clinical practice. Purpose: Susceptibility map weighted imaging (SMWI), based on quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), allows accurate nigrosome-1 (N1) evaluation and has been used to develop Parkinson’s disease (PD) deep learning (DL) classification algorithms. Neuromelanin-sensitive (NMS) MRI could improve automated quantitative N1 analysis by revealing neuromelanin content. This study aimed to compare classification performance of four approaches to PD diagnosis: (1) N1 quantitative “QSM-NMS” composite marker, (2) DL model for N1 morphological abnormality using SMWI (“Heuron IPD”), (3) DL model for N1 volume using SMWI (“Heuron NI”), and (4) N1 SMWI neuroradiological evaluation. Method: PD patients (n = 82; aged 65 ± 9 years; 68% male) and healthy-controls (n = 107; 66 ± 7 years; 48% male) underwent 3 T midbrain MRI with T2*-SWI multi-echo-GRE (for QSM and SMWI), and NMS-MRI. AUC was used to compare diagnostic performance. We tested for correlation of each imaging measure with clinical parameters (severity, duration and levodopa dosing) by Spearman-Rho or Kendall-Tao-Beta correlation. Results: Classification performance was excellent for the QSM-NMS composite marker (AUC = 0.94), N1 SMWI abnormality (AUC = 0.92), N1 SMWI volume (AUC = 0.90), and neuroradiologist (AUC = 0.98). Reasons for misclassification were right–left asymmetry, through-plane re-slicing, pulsation artefacts, and thin N1. In the two DL models, all 18/189 (9.5%) cases misclassified by Heuron IPD were controls with normal N1 volumes. We found significant correlation of the SN QSM-NMS composite measure with levodopa dosing (rho = −0.303, p = 0.006). Conclusion: Our data demonstrate excellent performance of a quantitative QSM-NMS marker and automated DL PD classification algorithms based on midbrain MRI, while suggesting potential further improvements. Technique-specific high-intensity interval training (HIITTS) has been proven to be an effective method to enhance the sport-specific bio-motor abilities of taekwondo athletes. However, studies regarding its effects on comprehensive measures of cardiorespiratory fitness are limited. Furthermore, there is a lack of clarity regarding the extent of individual adaptations to this method compared to HIIT in the form of repeated sprints (HIITRS). This study compared the individual adaptations to HIITRS and HIITTS on cardiorespiratory fitness and anaerobic power in trained taekwondo athletes (age = 19.8 ± 1.3 years; body mass = 75.4 ± 9.1 kg; height = 1.73 ± 0.0 .m). All participants completed three sessions per week of a 60-minute regular taekwondo training. Following the 60-minute training, participants completed 3 sets of 10 x 4 s all-out HIITRS or same sets of repeated kicks with both legs (HIITTS) over a 6-week training period. In both groups, rest intervals were set at 15 seconds between efforts and one minute between sets. Before and after the training period, participants underwent a series of lab- and field-based tests to evaluate cardiorespiratory fitness and bio-motor abilities. Both interventions resulted in significant improvements in maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max), O2 pulse (VO2/HR), first ventilatory threshold (VT1), second ventilatory threshold (VT2), cardiac output (Qmax), stroke volume (SV), peak power output (PPO), average power output (APO), squat jump (SJ), and countermovement jump (CMJ). However, linear speed (20-m speed time) and taekwondo-specific agility test (TSAT) only responded to HIITRS. HIITRS resulted in greater changes in VO2max, VO2/HR, VT2, and Qmax, and higher percentage of responders in measured parameters than HIITTS. In addition, HIITRS elicited lower inter-individual variability (CV) in percent changes from pre- to post-training in all measured variables. These results suggest that incorporating 3 sessions per week of HIITRS into regular taekwondo training results in significantly greater and more homogenized adaptations in cardiorespiratory fitness and bio-motor abilities than HIITTS among trained taekwondo athletes. Simple Summary: This pilot study aims to identify the physical, mental, social, psychological, and health needs encountered by cancer survivors in order to propose and facilitate appropriate and tailored responses. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first multidimensional studies investigating this topic in Italy. Data show that the quality of life of cancer survivors is affected by cancer and its treatment, reporting more frailties than the general population, especially those over 65 years old. These findings could help develop multidisciplinary planning of survivorship care for the transition of patients from oncological management to primary healthcare. Background: Understanding the specific needs of cancer survivors is essential for healthcare policy. In Italy, dedicated studies are lacking, so we aimed to investigate the physical, mental, social, and health difficulties encountered by these patients. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study on breast or colorectal cancer survivors (people 5+ years free from it and its treatments) using an ad hoc survey including validated questionnaires (Grauer–Palombi, SF-36, PREDIMED). Participants were recruited within the Oncology Unit of the "Policlinico Tor Vergata", Italy. Results: A total of 62 patients (80.6% females; years range: 37–87) agreed to be interviewed. A profile of cancer survivors was drafted: an overaged person with multiple co-morbidities, not well-nourished, adhering to the Mediterranean diet, reporting critical conditions as for physical and functional status. The mean number of co-morbidities was 3.6 ± 2.4 SD, with a statistically significant difference between age groups (under and over 65). Compared to the general population, the sample showed more frailties, especially when >65. The risk of having multimorbidity (four or more co-morbidities) significantly increased in those over 65 (OR: 4.72; CI: 1.43–15.59). Conclusion: There is an urgent need for survivorship care planning for the patient-centered continuum of care. Introduction: Patients with schizophrenia have a higher lifetime prevalence of suicidal behavior (SB) compared to the general population. Therefore, understanding the possible neurobiology of suicide and predicting the risk of suicide in schizophrenia is a solemnly critical issue. Methods: 31 drug-naïve first episode schizophrenia (FES) patients with current SB (FES-S), 69 drug-naive patients with first episode schizophrenia without SB (FES-NS), and 69 drug-naïve non-psychotic patients with current SB (NPS) who were diagnosed according to The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - 5 (DSM-5) participated the study. The control group (HC) consisted of 127 individuals matched with the patients. Symptoms at the time of evaluation were assessed using The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSRS). Blood samples were collected from all participants to determine White blood cell (WBC), neutrophil, monocyte, albumin, C-reactive protein (CRP), Lymphocyte, and Platelet levels and to measure this protein ratio. Results: The blood levels of WBC, neutrophil, monocyte, albumin, CRP, and Neutrophil/Albumin Ratio (NAR) were higher in all patient groups compared to HC. CRP/Albumin Ratio (CAR) value was observed to be highest in the NPS group. Monocyte/Lymphocyte Ratio (MLR) value was significantly higher in patients with FES compared to HC. There were no significant differences between the FES-S group and the FES-NS and NPS groups. Conclusion: It can be suggested that although inflammation is not a predictor for suicide attempts in schizophrenia, it is associated with the degree of suicide risk in schizophrenia. Introduction: It has been suggested that inhibin B (InhB), Anti-Müllerian hormone (Müllerian-inhibiting substance, AMH) levels, and 2D/4D finger length ratios are related to sex differences in neurodevelopmental disorders. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of InhB, AMH levels, and 2D/4D finger length ratios in male children with specific learning disorder (SLD). Methods: The study included 38 male children diagnosed with SLD and 38 males of similar ages without SLD as the control group. Tests used in the evaluation were the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children-Present and Lifetime version, Specific learning disorder clinical observation battery, Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R), and Conners' Parent Rating Scale-Revised: Short Form. Serum AMH, InhB, and Testosterone levels were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: Male children diagnosed with SLD demonstrated significantly higher levels of serum InhB compared to controls (t= 2.59 p=0.009); both groups had similar levels of serum testosterone and AMH. The 2D/4D finger ratios in the SLD group were found to be lower than those in the control group (t= 2.92 p= 0.005). Serum InhB levels were positively correlated with WISC-R verbal scores (p= 0.003). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that serum InhB levels and the 2D/4D ratio, which is an indicator of prenatal testosterone exposure, may play a role in the male predominance of SLD. Background: Vitamin B12 deficiency is widely prevalent in all age groups which is of major concern. However, there is no valid Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) for dietary vitamin B12 estimation. Hence, we aimed to develop and validate an FFQ for the estimation of dietary intake of Vitamin B12. Materials and Methods: Commonly consumed B12-rich food items were selected from literature and filtered using a market survey. For concordant and discriminant validation, B12 and homocysteine levels were estimated. To establish convergent validity, the Cobalamin Intake in North Indians by Food Frequency Questionnaire (COIN-FFQ) and 72-hour dietary recall (72HrDR) were both administered to the same subjects. The COIN-FFQ was readministered after initial administration for test-retest reliability. Internal consistency of the FFQ was then tested using Cronbach's alpha. Results: We enrolled 115 adults with a mean age and weight of 31.9 ± 8.7 years and 66.0 ± 11.8 kg, respectively. In total, 19.1% were vegetarian. The dietary B12 using COIN-FFQ (n = 60; mean = 4.3 ± 1.8 µg/d) was significantly correlated (r = 0.255; P = 0.049) with serum levels (mean = 120.1 ± 62.6 pmol/L) establishing concordant validity. A significant difference was noted between the dietary, serum B12, and homocysteine levels of vegetarians versus nonvegetarians establishing discriminant validity (mean diff 1.4 (0.5-2.4), P = 0.004; Z-statistic -2.182, P value 0.029, and Z-statistic -2.438; P value 0.015), respectively. FFQ was strongly correlated with 72HrDR and test--retest FFQ (n = 27; r = 0.814, P < 0.001 and r = 0.869, P < 0.001, respectively) establishing convergent validity and test--retest reliability. The internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha was in the acceptable range, 0.631 (n = 115). Conclusion: The newly developed COIN-FFQ is valid and reliable in estimating dietary B12 intake. Background: Post-extubation dysphagia occurs in 3% to 62% of adults who have received invasive mechanical ventilation in an intensive care unit (ICU). A stepwise approach to identify dysphagia includes a routine swallow screening in patients who are recently extubated followed by a formal assessment by a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), in the event of a failed swallow screen, has been suggested. This quality improvement project aimed to implement and evaluate a new post-extubation swallow screening process. Methods: Using the Model for Improvement framework, a new process that included the Yale Swallow Protocol (YSP) was developed, implemented, and evaluated between July and December 2022 in a 20-bed tertiary ICU. All patients with at least four hours post-extubation were included in the project. Process development included a literature review and feedback from ICU educators, nurses, physicians, SLPs, and Registered Dietitians (RDs). Education was provided to critical care nurses prior to implementation. Data on patient characteristics, process indicators, and outcomes were collected between September and December 2022 to evaluate the project implementation. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the data and bivariate analyses were used to compare data between patients who passed and failed the YSP. Results: Fifty-four patients were extubated and evaluated using the new swallow screening process. Post-extubation dysphagia was diagnosed by an SLP in 30.0% of patients. Dysphagia was diagnosed in 90.0% of patients who failed, compared with 8.6% of patients who passed the YSP (P<0.001). Statement of the Problem: Healing of the inferior alveolar nerve injury during dental procedures is one of the biggest concerns of dentists. There are still debates on different treatment modalities. Purpose: This study aimed to compare the effect of 940nm and 810nm diode lasers on the repair of the inferior alveolar sensory nerve. Materials and Method: In this single-blinded randomized clinical trial, 39 patients with inferior alveolar nerve injury were divided into three groups: 1. 810nm laser irradiated, 2. 940nm laser irradiated, and 3. No laser irradiation (control group). All patients were treated in 12 sessions (3 days per week) and evaluated using a complete clinical neurosensory test (CNT), including brushstroke, 2-point discrimination, pinprick nociception, and thermal discrimination before and after treatment. Results: The mean dysesthesia of the patient treated with 810nm diode laser was significantly lower than the control group in all sessions (the 1st (p= 0.003), 3rd (p=0.008), 7th (p= 0.006), and 12th sessions (p= 0.005)). The 810nm laser resulted in more satisfaction in patients than the control group in almost all sessions (1st (p< 0.001), 7th (p= 0.028), and 12th (p= 0.006)). More patient satisfaction was seen in the 1st and 3rd sessions in the 810nm laser than in the 980nm laser (p< 0.001 and p= 0.003, respectively). Introduction: Enteral feeding tubes are commonly utilized in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) due to the underdevelopment of coordination between sucking, swallowing, and breathing, or due to various diseases affecting the respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, or neurological systems. The aim of the study was to investigate the differences in bacterial colonization patterns in hospitalized infants who received enteral feeding through either nasogastric (NG) or orogastric (OG) feeding tubes. Materials and Methods: This study was a hospital-based cross-sectional investigation that was carried out on infants who were admitted to the NICU. The NICU gathered feeding tubes throughout 4 months, beginning in August 2022 and continuing through December 2022. In addition, informed consent was collected from the participant's parents or legal guardians for the entire group of people who took part in the research. The fact that the patient participated in this study had no bearing on the level of care that they were given. The research team gave serious consideration to recruiting any of the newborns who were receiving medical attention in the NICU and who had a feeding tube inserted during the time that sample collection was taking place. The infants did not receive any probiotics as a form of treatment in any of the cases. Results: Infants with NG tubes had a significantly higher number of C-sections (P = 0.04), infants with NG tube were exclusively breastfed (P = 0.02), and one or more dose of antenatal steroids was administered more in infants with OG tube (P = 0.04). The most common types of bacteria found in NG and OG tubes were Proteobacteria (with a mean relative abundance of 50% and 60%, respectively), Firmicutes (with a mean relative abundance of 33% and 23%, respectively), and Actinobacteria (9% and 7%, respectively). Conclusion: Oral versus nasal feeding tube insertion was found to have a greater influence on bacterial colonization than any of the other clinical factors that were evaluated. Background: Considering that few studies have investigated the differences in clinical, laboratory, and imaging symptoms of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during different peaks of the disease in Iran, the present study compares the patients who were admitted to the COVID-19 departments of Imam Reza Hospital during the first, second, and third peaks of the disease. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, data were collected by reviewing the files of patients with a definite diagnosis of COVID- 19 based on the RT-PCR test in Imam Reza Hospital in Mashhad. The patients were divided into three groups based on the time of admission: The first peak from March 2020 to June 2020, the second peak from July to September 2020, and the third peak from October to December 2020. The variables evaluated in this study included demographic information, clinical signs and symptoms, and laboratory and radiological findings. Descriptive qualitative data were reported using frequency tables, while quantitative descriptive data were reported using measures of central tendency and dispersion. A comparison of qualitative data among the three peaks was conducted using the chi-square test, while for quantitative data, the ANOVA test was used followed by appropriate post-hoc tests. Results: A total of 561 patients with an average age of 58.90 ± 16.80 years were included in the study, of which 336 (59.9%) were male. Regarding underlying diseases, significant differences were found in age (P < 0.001), smoking (P < 0.001), diabetes (P = 0.003), high blood pressure (P < 0.001), asthma (P = 0.025), and ischemic heart disease (P < 0.001). For vital signs, significant differences were observed in heart rate (P < 0.001), respiration rate (P < 0.001), diastolic blood pressure (P = 0.010), and SPO2 (P < 0.001). In clinical characteristics, significant differences were found in fever (P < 0.001), nausea (P = 0.011), vomiting (P = 0.031), headache (P < 0.001), weakness (P < 0.001), and sore throat (P < 0.001). In laboratory characteristics, significant differences were observed in white blood cell (WBC) count (P = 0.024), neutrophil percentage (P < 0.001), lymphocyte percentage (P < 0.001), and C-reactive protein (CRP) (P = 0.001). The CT score values of the patients were significantly different between the three peaks. Patient mortality was significantly different across the three peaks. Less than 15% of hospitalized patients died in the first peak, while over 24% died in the second peak and nearly 40% of inpatients died in the third peak. In our study, the first and third surges and the second and third surges had different mortalities. Conclusions: The third and first peaks had the highest and lowest mortality rates, respectively. Underlying diseases and unstable vital signs were more common in the second and third peaks. Patients in the second peak had significantly higher CT scores compared to the other peaks. Other than location of the primary colorectal cancer (CRC), a few factors are known to influence the intrahepatic distribution of colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRLM). We aimed to assess whether the anatomy of the portal vein (PV) could influence the intrahepatic distribution of CRLM. Patients with CRLM diagnosed between January 2018 and December 2022 at two tertiary centers were included and imaging was reviewed by two radiologists independently. Intra-operator concordance was assessed according to the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The influence of the diameter, angulation of the PV branches and their variations on the number and distribution of CRLM were compared using Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson's Chi-square and Spearman's correlation tests. Two hundred patients were included. ICC was high (> 0.90, P < 0.001). Intrahepatic CRLM distribution was right-liver, left-liver unilateral and bilateral in 66 (33%), 24 (12%) and 110 patients (55%), respectively. Median number of CRLM was 3 (1–7). Type 1, 2 and 3 portal vein variations were observed in 156 (78%), 19 (9.5%) and 25 (12%) patients, respectively. CRLM unilateral or bilateral distribution was not influenced by PV anatomical variations (P = 0.13), diameter of the right (P = 0.90) or left (P = 0.50) PV branches, angulation of the right (P = 0.20) or left (P = 0.80) PV branches and was independent from primary tumor localisation (P = 0.60). No correlations were found between CRLM number and diameter (R: 0.093, P = 0.10) or angulation of the PV branches (R: 0.012, P = 0.83). Climate change threatens environmental stability and human health, with limited research on younger children's perceptions. This study examines Italian primary school children's views on climate change to guide educational and policy strategies. Surveying 973 children (5–11 years) from different regions, findings showed high awareness (93%) and concern (63%) about climate change. Regional differences indicated greater concern in the south. Gender disparities revealed females were more concerned and experienced more sleep difficulties. Younger children had stronger emotional responses, while older ones showed increased pro-environmental behaviors. Despite moderate self-confidence in effecting change, a strong sense of responsibility and trust in adults was prevalent. These results highlight the need for early, continuous climate education tailored to regional, age, and gender-specific needs. Addressing children's views on climate change can help educators and policymakers foster resilience and proactive attitudes, supporting the development of informed and engaged future stewards of the planet. Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common disorder associated with major cardiovascular and neurocognitive sequelae. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the standard treatment for OSA. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and associations of long-term CPAP adherence in newly diagnosed OSA patients. Methods: We enrolled patients who were diagnosed with OSA during the COVID-19 pandemic. Adherence was defined as CPAP use ≥4 h per night on ≥70% of nights over 30 consecutive days. Patient demographics were retrieved from medical records, and CPAP adherence at 6 months and 1 year after initiation was monitored. Results: Overall, 107 patients were included in the analysis. A number of 73 (68%) and 63 (59%) patients were adherent to CPAP treatment at 6 months and 12 months accordingly. Among the factors examined and analyzed (age, gender, BMI, Apnea–Hypopnea Index (AHI)), no significant correlation was found. Further analysis revealed the potential role of comorbidities. CPAP compliance at 6 months was shown to be associated with better CPAP adherence at 12 months. Conclusions: CPAP adherence at 6 months is correlated to long-term adherence to treatment. Therefore, early close follow-up is important. Further prospective studies are needed to identify other potential predictors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Adolescence is a critical period for the development of affectivity and sexuality. Adolescents begin to explore their sexual identities, form intimate relationships, and learn to manage their emotions in new and complex contexts. This study aims to analyze the prevalence of habits and behaviors related to the affective–sexual health of adolescents in the fourth year of ESO, identifying risk factors, comparing their behaviors and risks, monitoring these behaviors, analyzing their pornography consumption, and evaluating the use of the internet as a source of sexual information. Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study using questionnaires. Participants are fourth-year ESO students from a school in the Baix Llobregat province (Catalonia), aged between 14 and 18 years. Descriptive and bivariate statistical analyses are conducted using the chi-square test and p-value calculations with the R Project software. Frequency and percentage analyses are also used to describe the health behaviors of the participants. Results: The study reveals that girls have better knowledge of the contraceptive pill and male condom than boys. Sexual initiation and condom use management vary between the genders, with girls being more capable of persuading their partners to use them. Pornography consumption also shows significant differences in terms of the age of initiation and frequency between boys and girls. Conclusions: This study on adolescent affectivity and sexuality reveals knowledge about contraceptives, early sexual initiation, and high pornography consumption, highlighting the need for early and diverse affective–sexual education, youth empowerment, and media misinformation management to promote safer and healthier behaviors within municipal public health. The highest prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors has been associated with obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and elevated blood pressure due to high workload and work stress. This study aimed to analyze the cardiometabolic risk and lifestyles among the health sciences university academics and campus administrators at a private university in Spain. A cross-sectional study was conducted during the 2018–2019 academic year by the Nursing Department, using a self-administered questionnaire and face-to-face assessments of anthropometric variables related to cardiovascular risk in university personnel. The variables measured included sociodemographics, cardiovascular risk history, comorbidities, toxic habits, Mediterranean diet adherence, physical exercise, psychosocial stress, and physical, anthropometric, and analytical data. Cardiovascular risk was categorized into relative (<40 years), absolute, and vascular age (>40 years). Among the 101 participants, 61.4% were women, with a mean age of 41.3 years ± 9 years. The smoking prevalence was 21.8% (68.2% women), 27.7% were sedentary, and 51.0% adhered to the Mediterranean diet, with higher adherence among the academics. Emotional risk was present in 32.7% of the participants. A prior diagnosis of hypertension was significantly more frequent in the men (15.4%) compared to the women (3.2%). The blood pressure measurements were mostly optimal across both genders and professional groups, but the proportion of hypertension grade 1 was significantly higher among the academics (10%) compared to the administrators (4.5%) and among the men (11.1%) compared to the women (5.9%). The absolute cardiovascular risk among the university employees was generally low, but the men exhibited a more moderate risk compared to the women.
