Nowadays, researches on the use of alkali metal salts as friction‐reducing and anti‐wear oil additives are continuing. In this study, the tribological effects of heavy metal containing MoS2 and alkali metal salt CaF2 additives on pure engine oil (20W50) were investigated using block‐on‐ring tester configured as surface contact geometry. The tests were performed at various contact loads, revolutions, and additive ratios. The crystal structure of the additives and their effects on surface quality and surface roughness analysed by x‐ray crystallography, scanning electron microscope and profilometry. Moreover, Energy dispersive spectrometry was used for element detection on worn surfaces. Results indicated that additives of MoS2 and CaF2 can reduce the friction, increase the capacity of load‐carrying and the wear resistance of surfaces. The additives improved the operation of the base oil in boundary lubrication zone by increasing the tribofilm forming effect. It was observed that the CaF2 additive exhibited more stable friction behaviour, while the MoS2 additive has better protective effects against scratches on the block surface. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Summary: The stability, microstructure and antioxidant capacity of the composite coating solution of chitosan (CS) and oleuropein (OLE, 0.08–0.32%, w/v) were estimated by zeta potential, rheological properties, scanning electron microscope and 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging assays. Effects of the composite coating on refrigerated chicken breasts were evaluated by microbial, chemical and sensory assays. The results revealed that the coating solutions were stable, intact and exhibited good antioxidant activities. When chicken samples were stored at 4 °C for 12 days, the microbial population treated with CS + OLE decreased to 5.43–7.59 log CFU g−1 compared with the control (8.41 log CFU g−1). The increase in pH values, total volatile base nitrogen and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances contents, and drip loss rate of chicken samples had also been deferred. Aim: To evaluate the influence of different preparation tapers on the reduction in planktonic bacteria and biofilms of Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans in the apical third (4 mm) of the mesial roots of mandibular molars, correlating decontamination with canal shape. Methodology: After microtomography analysis for morphological standardization of the canals, 48 mandibular molar roots, each containing two canals (96 canals), were contaminated with E. faecalis and C. albicans and divided into four groups (n = 11) for canal instrumentation using ProDesign Logic 2 files with different tapers G (.03): # 25.03; G (.04): # 25.04; G (.05): # 25.05; and G (.06): # 25.06 and irrigation with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. Four roots were examined under a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to qualitatively assess biofilm formation. Eight roots were used as the negative control group (samples were not contaminated). Bacteriological samples were taken exclusively from the apical third of the roots before and after chemical–mechanical preparation and bacterial counts were determined (CFU/mL). The final micro‐CT scan was used to quantify the volume variation and unprepared canal area in the apical third. Statistical analysis was performed using the Kruskal–Wallis, Student–Newman–Keuls and Wilcoxon tests for analysis of microbiological data. anova and the Tukey or Games–Howell test were used for analysis of micro‐CT data and Spearman's test for correlations (α = 5%). Results: All groups showed a significant reduction in bacteria (p <.05), with no statistically significant difference between groups. There was no significant difference in per cent volume increase between groups. The unprepared area (Δ%) was affected by the file used (p =.026) and was significantly lower for G (.06) compared to G (.03). There was no statistically significant correlation among bacterial reduction, volume and unprepared area (p >.05). Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) represent a viable substitute to lithium‐ion batteries due to their affordability and resource abundance. For SIBs, antimony (Sb) shows potential as anode material but is impeded by the high volumetric variations. Here the challenges of Sb sodium storage by introducing the nanostructured Cu substrate for enhanced Sb adhesion and morphology optimization is addressed, which is realized by fused deposition modeling (FDM) printing of Cu substrate, subsequent high‐temperature sintering, and electrodeposition of Sb. In SIBs, the Sb deposited on three dimensional (3D) printed Cu substrate performs improved cycling stability compared with that of Sb@Cu with commercial Cu foil substrate, which can be attributed to the nanostructure of the 3D‐Cu substrate. Such architecture of 3D‐Cu induces the generation of pine‐leaf‐like Sb clusters to promote stability and kinetics, and it aids the adhesion between the Sb cluster and 3D‐Cu substrate for preventing the Sb detachment and restructuring the Sb cluster to the robust porous ligament‐channel Sb framework. The morphology evolution, (de)sodiation mechanism, and gas evolution are explored by ex situ scanning electron microscope, operando X‐ray diffraction, and operando differential electrochemical mass spectrometry separately. This research paper focuses on the use of solid biomass waste, specifically a combination of Polyalthia longifolia seed (PLSF) and graphite (GH) powder, as reinforcements in vinyl ester (VE) composites. The composites were produced via the hand layup method, with the filler concentration varying from 0 to 15 wt% of PLSF and 0–9 wt% of graphite. The objective was to examine the influence of the hybrid filler on the mechanical characteristics of the composites. The mechanical properties of composites prepared from P. longifolia seeds and graphite powder were experimentally characterized. These properties included tensile strength, flexural strength, impact resistance, and hardness. The hybrid composite had a maximum tensile strength of 48.4 MPa, and its tensile modulus was 1.66 GPa. The hybrid filler at 15% wt% of PLSF and 6% of graphite has the highest flexural strength, which is around 148 MPa. The ultimate impact strength and hardness were measured to be 41.3 kJ/m2 and 44.5, respectively, after the addition of 15 and 6 wt% of hybrid filler. In comparison to neat vinyl ester resin, the PLSF/GH‐VE composites exhibited an increase in tensile, flexural, impact, and hardness of 2.69, 1.82, 3.03, and 1.59 times, respectively. Hybrid composite surfaces were analyzed using scanning electron microscopes to determine surface characteristics and fractured surfaces. In addition, the PLSF/GH‐VE composites have been utilized in the production of components for four‐wheelers. This study focuses on improving the quality of MAPbI3‐based perovskite films by adjusting the concentration ratios of the methylammonium iodide (MAI) precursor using a two‐step sequential deposition method. The primary objective is to explore how altering the MAI concentration influences the microstrain, dislocation density, perovskite film quality, and their subsequent impact on the performance of perovskite solar cells. The examined device configuration CdS/MAPbI3/Spiro‐OMeTAD demonstrates impressive power conversion efficiency of 12.05%, Voc of 1.02 V, Jsc of 16.2 mA cm−2, and fill factor of 0.73. X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope analyses show improved crystal quality and surface characteristics with reduced microstrain, dislocation density, larger crystal grains, and minimized pinholes. The investigation of MAPbI3's optical and electrical characteristics provides in‐depth insights, facilitating the optimization of MAI precursor concentrations for improved perovskite film development and enhanced solar cell performance. 3D printing has witnessed a remarkable surge in popularity due to its flexibility in design and adaptability as a manufacturing technique to nearly each industrial area. This study focuses on harnessing the technological versatility of 3D printing by utilizing both standard poly lactic acid (PLA) and copper powder‐doped PLA to fabricate intricate structures through a layer‐by‐layer additive manufacturing process. The other innovation introduced here lies in the postprocessing step, which involves salt remelting. The mechanical properties of 3D‐printed standard test specimens undergo comprehensive assessment, encompassing bending and tensile evaluations, hardness measurements, density assessments, dimensional stability analyses, and wear resistance examinations. Utilizing copper powder‐doped PLA for the initial and final layers in XYZ‐oriented prints enables multimaterial printing, resulting in an ≈14% increase in tensile strength. Subsequently, subjecting this multimaterial composite to salt remelting elevates the strength enhancement to ≈16%, accompanied by a significant boost in rigidity by reducing voids in cross‐sectional area. In addition, scanning electron microscope images are captured, allowing for a detailed morphological analysis, which is then correlated with the findings of the various tests performed. The present study focused on the histogenesis of the crop in quail embryos. The developmental sequence was recorded from day 10 of incubation to the hatching day (17th day) by gross anatomy, morphometric analysis and by using light and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Grossly, the crop was distinguished as an enlarged pouch of the cervical oesophagus on the 12th day of incubation. Histologically, the development of the crop began on the 10th day of incubation. The muscularis mucosae was observed as a small, thin layer of myoblast cells on the 10th day, then it appeared as longitudinally arranged smooth muscle fibres with progression of the developmental age till hatching day. The submucosal layer was also observed on the 10th day, while the lamina propria, muscular layer (inner circular and outer longitudinal layers of smooth muscle fibre) and glandular primordia were detected on the 12th day. The epithelial cells of crop revealed affinity for PAS stain and AB‐PAS on the 10th day of incubation till the 17th day, while the affinity for AB stain appeared on the 14th day of incubation. Additionally, the glandular cells showed the positive for AB, PAS and AB‐PAS on the 12th day of incubation. SEM sections showed variable sizes of the openings of the oesophageal glands. Background: Collagen, a critical structural protein found abundantly in animal skin and bones, has become increasingly recognized for its potential therapeutic role in skincare. Despite growing interest, the scientific evidence for the efficacy of collagen sheet masks remains limited. The principal objective of our study was to provide insights into the multifaceted role of collagen in skin health, with a specific focus on its application in collagen sheet masks. Methods: The effects of a collagen sheet mask consisting of >92% native bovine collagen were investigated. The soluble protein components of the collagen matrix were analyzed and the influence of soluble collagen components on fibroblast regulation was examined. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis was performed for structural analysis and effect on irritated skin. Five different clinical studies were conducted, including a comparison of the diversity of the skin microbiome, the tolerance and local irritating reactions in atopic dermatitis, an evaluation of skin redness after UV radiation, wrinkle reduction, and hydration and skin roughness of the collagen mask in comparison to a pre‐soaked cellulose sheet mask. Results: The collagen mask contains soluble protein components, including small collagen peptides. The mask showed potential for promoting fibroblast activity. SEM analysis showed a native collagen structure similar to human dermis. The mask maintained the skin microbiome diversity and decreased skin pH levels. It demonstrated good tolerability on both intact and lesional skin and had a significant effect in reducing erythema caused by UV radiation compared to other skincare products. It showed significant improvements in skin hydration and the volume of eye wrinkles and was more effective than pre‐soaked cellulose sheet masks. Conclusion: Collagen sheet masks have the potential to positively impact skin health and appearance by increasing hydration, reducing erythema, minimizing wrinkles, and maintaining a healthy skin microbiome and skin barrier. The performance of cementitious composites reinforced with fibres or/and bars depends on the bond strength between inclusion and cementitious matrix. The nature of formation of fibre‐matrix bond is crucial for enhancing the reliability and utilisation of reinforced composites. The research provides a review on the recently published result about the changes in the microstructure of cement matrix surrounding steel fibres with different surface roughness, using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) coupled with k‐means clustering algorithm for image segmentation. The debonding pattern of the fibre‐matrix bond after the tensile loading cycles was discussed by observing the amount of adhered cement paste to the pulled out fibre surface with SEM. To develop microwave‐absorbing properties of dielectric ceramics, B4C/C composite powders were prepared by combustion synthesis with B2O3, polyvinyl alcohol, and Mg as the raw materials in this work. The XRD, Raman, scanning electron microscope with energy‐dispersive spectroscopy, and VNA network analysis carried out the effects of the addition of azodicarbonamide (AC) foaming agent on the phase compositions, microstructure, and dielectric and microwave‐absorbing properties of the products. The results indicated that the addition of an AC foaming agent contributed to the formation of distinct morphologies with a larger specific surface area and uniform distribution of the free carbon in the B4C/C composite powders and improved its graphitization degree, which resulted in the formation of equivalent microcapacitors, enhanced interfacial polarization, improved conductive network, and leading to a low reflection loss (RL) and a broadened effective absorb bandwidth (EAB). Due to the dielectric loss as the dominant loss mechanism, C‐1.5 (1.5 wt.% AC foaming agent addition) exhibits the EAB of 3.02 GHz and the minimum RL (RLmin) of −22.90 dB at the thickness of 2.20 mm. Using Camellia oleifera shell as raw materials to preparative SiC ceramics by warm‐press forming and sintering is proposed in this paper. Warm‐press forming before preparing for the C. oleifera shell‐based SiC ceramics is beneficial to obtain the internal uniform and suitable pore structure of the cylindrical sample. Thermogravimetric analysis with differential scanning calorimetry was applied to analyze the pyrolysis behavior of C. oleiefra shell and phenolic resin. The scanning electron microscope and X‐ray diffraction were used to investigate the properties of C. oleifera shell‐based SiC ceramics. Then, the response surface method was applied to establish a multivariate prediction model based on the process parameters of warm‐press forming. And the regression equations of porosity and bending strength of COS‐SiC are obtained. The result demonstrated that the predicted and experimental values can be in good agreement for the model. By comparing the F‐value, it is found that the forming temperature and pressure during the process of warm‐press forming have a more significant influence on the porosity and bending strength of SiC ceramics. PyC/BN multiphase interfacial phases were prepared on the surface of SiC fiber preform, then the near stoichiometric ratio SiC fiber reinforced SiC ceramic matrix composites were obtained by polymer impregnation and pyrolysis (PIP) process. The mechanical behavior of SiC/SiC composites was characterized by three‐point bending tests and fracture toughness tests. The stress release and load transfer effects of the interfaces under external loads were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results showed that with the increasing of PyC component thickness from.10 to.30 µm in the PyC/BN multiphase interfacial phases, the bending strength and fracture toughness both increased first and then decreased. The results occurred due to the competition between load transfer and stress release of the interfaces. The relatively optimized interfacial phase structure was that the thickness of the PyC interfacial phase and BN interfacial phase were.20 and.30 µm. The bending strength and fracture toughness of the optimized SiC/SiC composites reached 660.65 MPa and 29.01 MPa•m1/2. Respectively, many matrix cracks appeared in the horizontal and vertical directions, occupying almost the entire fracture section. The growth path of the matrix crack was significantly increased with many long fibers pulled out and broken, which was conducive to the strengthening and toughening of SiC/SiC composites. In this work, microporous MgO–Al2O3 refractory aggregates were prepared with Mg(OH)2 and Al(OH)3 via the in situ decomposition synthesis method. The effect of Al(OH)3 addition on the microstructure and properties of microporous MgO–Al2O3 refractory aggregates was investigated with scanning electron microscope and mercury intrusion porosimetry. The results indicated that the improved green density of the samples and the reaction sintering accelerated the mass transport rate with adding Al(OH)3 from 0 to 4.0 wt%. Besides, a small amount of Al3+ diffused into porous MgO particles, accelerating the merging and growth of nanopores in the porous MgO particles. The intra‐particle pore size and the densification degree of microparticles were increased, and thus the strength of the samples was improved. Due to the formation of Kirkendall voids by interdiffusion of Mg2+ and Al3+, the inter‐particle pore size increased. Adding Al(OH)3 from 4.0 to 17.6 wt%, the Kirkendall voids weakened the mass transport rate and improved the inter‐particle pore size. The merging and growth of nanopores in the MgO particles were limited, resulting in the reduced intra‐particle pore size and increased intra‐particle pore number. The densification degree of microparticles was reduced, and thus the strength of the samples decreased. At the Al(OH)3 addition of 4.0 wt%, microporous MgO–Al2O3 refractory aggregates had the best comprehensive properties, a bulk density of 2.48 g/cm3, an apparent porosity of 29.4%, a median pore size of 1.6 μm with 42.2 vol% nanopores and the thermal conductivity of 4.0 W/(m K). Corundum and transition alumina powders are commonly produced through the Bayer process—that is, by digestion of bauxite in a sodium hydroxide solution, followed by gibbsite precipitation, which contains significant amounts of Na+ ions. During the de‐hydroxylation of gibbsite, Na+ is associated with retardation of the structural phase transformations between transition alumina and corundum (α‐Al2O3) phases, although the exact role of Na is unclear. The influence of Na+ ions on the phase transformation of γ‐Al2O3 to α‐alumina was investigated by varying the concentration of NaOH in aqueous γ‐Al2O3 suspensions. The phase transformation behavior of γ‐Al2O3 was monitored through thermal analysis, X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, X‐ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS), and transmission electron microscope. As the Na concentration in γ‐alumina suspensions increased, the amount of α‐Al2O3 decreased in samples that were heat treated at 1200°C for 2 h. XPS analysis indicated that washing transition alumina powders with NH4OH solutions had decreased the surface concentration of Na+ and facilitated the phase transformation to α‐Al2O3. Glass fiber‐reinforced resin matrix composites have good mechanical and impact resistance properties, while with particle co‐reinforcement, a synergistic effect can further improve their performance. In this paper, continuous glass fiber‐reinforced nylon 6 (GF/PA6) and continuous glass fiber (GF) with glass beads (GBs) co‐reinforced nylon 6 (GB–GF/PA6) were prepared to investigate the co‐reinforcement mechanism and the synergistic effect of particle and fiber. A quantitative parameter of the residual impact force divided by the critical force Pr/Pcr, as the damage degree of the low‐velocity impact, is defined to evaluate the impact resistance of the composite. The results indicate that the damage of GB–GF/PA6 was lower than that of GF/PA6, and the synergistic effect reaches the most obvious at the GB addition of 10 wt%. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and x‐ray computed tomography (XCT) images disclose that GB impedes the type II crack spread in the matrix and fiber/matrix interface. With the type II cracks reducing, the materials' resistance to delamination can be significantly enhanced. For the composite structure, in which 10 wt% GB and 60 wt% GF are introduced, the flexural strength, shear strength, and pendulum impact strength were tested with the maximum values of 379.4 MPa, 53.1 MPa, and 219.0 J/m2, respectively. This composite structure design, presenting a continuous GF and GBs co‐reinforce effect, offers a manufacturing process that is easily scalable to achieve excellent characteristics. Manufacturing and investigating metallic‐glass‐fiber‐reinforced epoxies is an important new attempt to present their potential to contribute to the aviation industry. In order to explore the energy absorption in novel CoFeSiB metallic‐glass‐fiber/epoxy resin composites, CoFeSiB/epoxy resin composite cylinders with different fiber volume fractions were prepared by a hot‐pressing method. The amorphism of the metal fibers was analyzed using x‐ray diffraction. The quasi‐static compression tests were performed on different fiber oriented samples with a diameter of 3.6 mm and a height of 7.2 mm. The sample with the fiber orientation [0°/90°] has a higher energy absorption capacity, compared to the one with the fiber orientation [0°/0°]. The dynamic‐ compression tests were performed on the [0°/0°] samples with a diameter of 3 mm and height of 6 mm at different air pressures. The compression fracture surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscope. Then the energy absorption mechanism of the composites was investigated. Microplasmas can be used for a wide range of technological applications and to improve the understanding of fundamental physics. Scanning electron microscopy, on the other hand, provides insights into the sample morphology and chemistry of materials from the mm‐ down to the nm‐scale. Combining both would provide direct insight into plasma‐sample interactions in real‐time and at high spatial resolution. Up till now, very few attempts in this direction have been made, and significant challenges remain. This work presents a stable direct current glow discharge microplasma setup built inside a scanning electron microscope. The experimental setup is capable of real‐time in situ imaging of the sample evolution during plasma operation and it demonstrates localized sputtering and sample oxidation. Further, the experimental parameters such as varying gas mixtures, electrode polarity, and field strength are explored and experimental V–I curves under various conditions are provided. These results demonstrate the capabilities of this setup in potential investigations of plasma physics, plasma‐surface interactions, and materials science and its practical applications. The presented setup shows the potential to have several technological applications, for example, to locally modify the sample surface (e.g., local oxidation and ion implantation for nanotechnology applications) on the µm‐scale. In the current research, new metal complexes have been synthesized by using the greener synthetic approach in which 3‐Nitroaniline reacts with the elements of group‐IIB and group‐IVB. According to this method, ligand and metals were dissolved in 1,4‐dioxane and stirred at room temperature for a specific time period. The method for the preparation of metal‐base complexes is quite simple and cost‐effective. To identify the synthesized compounds various physio‐chemical analytical techniques were used such as Melting point, FT‐Raman Spectroscopy, FT‐IR Spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis, and Scanning electron microscope (SEM) that provide significant data about the general structural characteristics of synthesized compounds. The percentage degradation efficiency of synthetic dyes was obtained as 57 %, 66 %, and 97 % using the synthesized compounds as photocatalysts. Introduction: Polynucleotides (PN) are becoming more prominent in aesthetic medicine. However, the structural characteristics of PN have not been published and PN from different companies may have different structural characteristics. This study aimed to elucidate the structural attributes of DOT™ PN and distinguish differences with polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRN) using high‐resolution scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging. Materials and methods: DOT™ PN was examined using a Quanta 3‐D field emission gun (FEG) Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Sample preparation involved cryogenic cooling, cleavage, etching, and metal coating to facilitate high‐resolution imaging. Cryo‐FIB/SEM techniques were employed for in‐depth structural analysis. Results: PDRN exhibited an amorphous structure without distinct features. In contrast, DOT™ PN displayed well‐defined polyhedral shapes with smooth, uniformly thick walls. These cells were empty, with diameters ranging from 3 to 8 micrometers, forming a seamless tessellation pattern. Discussion: DOT™ PN's distinct geometric tessellation design conforms to the principles of biotensegrity, providing both structural reinforcement and integrity. The presence of delicate partitions and vacant compartments hints at possible uses in the field of pharmaceutical delivery systems. Within the realms of beauty enhancement and regenerative medicine, DOT™ PN's capacity to bolster cell growth and tissue mending could potentially transform approaches to rejuvenation treatments. Its adaptability becomes apparent when considering its contributions to drug administration and surgical procedures. The synergistic effects of eugenol and cinnamaldehyde (MEC) were firstly used for quinoa fresh noodles (QFN) preservation. The amount of eugenol and cinnamaldehyde in combination was reduced 75% MIC value and 50% MBC value compared to the single application of eugenol and cinnamaldehyde respectively. The shelf life of QFN was prolonged 2.5 times by MEC at 25°C. Besides, MEC can significantly maintain the texture and color of QFN with less odor impact. Further mechanisms of MEC in anti-Bacillus velezensis were suggested to affect the lag phase during growth, and disrupt the cell integrity with adenosine triphosphate and protein leakage. Wound dressings developed by combining plant extracts with polymers have made a great progress in wound care treatment. One plant with remarkable healing properties is Phyllanthus emblica Linn (P. emblica), which is described as having potent antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti‐inflammatory properties. The aim of this study is to evaluate the biocompatibility of P. emblica‐loaded polyvinyl alcohol/gelatin‐based cryogels (PVA/Gel/P.emblica) through cytotoxicity and proliferation tests in HaCaT cells and examine their potential in wound dressing applications. Accordingly, PVA/Gel/P.emblica cryogels are successfully synthesized and characterization studies and in vitro cell culture studies are performed. The swelling tests and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis results show that swelling and surface area properties of cryogels increase with increasing P. emblica amounts. Morphological results display that the cryogels have a dense, interconnected pore morphology and a macroporous structure. 3‐(4,5‐dimethylthiazol‐2‐yl)‐2,5‐diphenyltetrazolium bromide, trypan blue exclusion, and live–dead assay results reveal that P. emblica enhances cell proliferation, increases cell number, and improves cell viability. Based on the scanning electron microscope, immunofluorescence, and Giemsa staining images, it is observed that P. emblica promotes cell attachment, proliferation, and penetration. Bi(2/3)‐xSmxCu3Ti4O12 (BSCTO x = 0.05, 0.10, and 0.20) ceramics are synthesized using semi‐wet technique and an extensive investigation into their structural, morphological, and elemental properties, alongside dielectric and impedance behaviors, is meticulously carried out. X‐ray powder diffraction analysis unequivocally confirmed the formation of a monophasic BCTO cubic phase without any discernible secondary phases. and the crystallite size of the BSCTO ceramic, obtained by X‐ray diffraction using Debye Scherrer formula, range from 62 to 81 nm. Rietveld analysis reveals that ceramics have a body centered cubic structure with space group Im‐3. The Scanning electron microscope image displays the dense microstructure of the ceramics, while EDX analysis unveils the elemental composition of resulting products. Doping with Sm3+ induced a notable reduction in grain size, as observed through Scanning electron microscope and Atomic Force Microscope analyses, indicating Sm3+ hindered grain growth during sintering, potentially resulting in reduced dielectric constant (ε′). Dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the composition (x = 0.2) are found to be ≈$ \approx $152 and 0.04, respectively at room temperature (1 kHz). Impedance characteristics revealed a substantial increase in grain boundary resistance, leading to improved dielectric loss. To expand the market capacity of p‐diethylbenzene (PDEB), core‐shell zeolite (TS‐1@MCM‐48) is designed as a catalyst for PDEB oxidation. TS‐1@MCM‐48 catalyst is synthesized by in‐situ crystallization method and characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), N2 adsorption‐desorption, in‐situ electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance (29Si MAS‐NMR). Oxidation of PDEB by H2O2 was investigated systematically in liquid phase. The conversion of PDEB over TS‐1@MCM‐48 was 28.1 % and the total selectivity was 72.6 %, where the selectivity of EAP (p‐ethylacetophenone) and EPEA (4‐ethyl‐α‐methylbenzyl alcohol) was 28.6 % and 44.0 %, respectively. Compared with TS‐1 and MCM‐48 zeolite, the conversion rate of reactants and the selectivity of products have been significantly improved. The catalytic performance of TS‐1@MCM‐48 is derived from its well‐crystallized microporous core and mesoporous shell with regular channels, which make active sites of TS‐1 zeolite in the catalyst be fully utilized and mass transfer resistance be largely reduced. Further through theoretical calculation, we propose that the oxidation of PDEB is the result of the combination and mutual transformation of free radical process and carbocation process. DYT1 dystonia is associated with decreased striatal dopamine release. In this study, we examined the possibility that ultrastructural changes of nigrostriatal dopamine terminals could contribute to this neurochemical imbalance using a serial block face/scanning electron microscope (SBF/SEM) and three‐dimensional reconstruction to analyse striatal tyrosine hydroxylase‐immunoreactive (TH‐IR) terminals and their synapses in a DYT1(ΔE) knockin (DYT1‐KI) mouse model of DYT1 dystonia. Furthermore, to study possible changes in vesicle packaging capacity of dopamine, we used transmission electron microscopy to assess the synaptic vesicle size in striatal dopamine terminals. Quantitative comparative analysis of 80 fully reconstructed TH‐IR terminals in the WT and DYT1‐KI mice indicate (1) no significant difference in the volume of TH‐IR terminals; (2) no major change in the proportion of axo‐spinous versus axo‐dendritic synapses; (3) no significant change in the post‐synaptic density (PSD) area of axo‐dendritic synapses, while the PSDs of axo‐spinous synapses were significantly smaller in DYT1‐KI mice; (4) no significant change in the contact area between TH‐IR terminals and dendritic shafts or spines, while the ratio of PSD area/contact area decreased significantly for both axo‐dendritic and axo‐spinous synapses in DYT1‐KI mice; (5) no significant difference in the mitochondria volume; and (6) no significant difference in the synaptic vesicle area between the two groups. Altogether, these findings suggest that abnormal morphometric changes of nigrostriatal dopamine terminals and their post‐synaptic targets are unlikely to be a major source of reduced striatal dopamine release in DYT1 dystonia. In this article, the effect of Ce element on the microstructure and mechanical properties was studied by Ce addition to the hot‐formed steel. Scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectrometer (SEM‐EDS) was used to analyze the improvement effect of Ce on inclusions and the effect of inclusions on fracture behavior; Electron back scattering diffractometer (EBSD) was used to analyze the refinement and strengthening effect of Ce on martensitic grains; transmission electron microscope (TEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) was used to analyze the microstructure strengthening effect and microalloying effect of solid solution Ce in hot‐formed steel. Through a systematic analysis of mechanical properties and microstructure, the mechanism of Ce enhances the strength and elongation of hot‐formed steel was clarified. The effects of Ce treatment on the inclusion evolution and impact toughness of as‐cast transformation‐induced plasticity (TRIP) steel are systematically investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and impact toughness testing. The results reveal that in Fe‐2Mn‐1.5Al‐1Si‐0.2C steel without Ce, the primary inclusions consist of AlN, MnS, and Al2O3. After Ce addition, the inclusions evolve into Ce‐Al‐O, Ce2O2S, CeS, and Ce2O3 inclusions. The evolution of inclusions exhibits an initial reduction in both quantity and size with increasing Ce content, followed by a subsequent increase. In cases of excessive Ce content, there is an observable rise in the overall inclusion count, marked by the emergence of CeAs, CeP, and CeC2 inclusions. The segregation model suggests that P‐containing inclusions predominantly precipitate in the late solidification process, while As‐ and C‐containing inclusions form during the solid phase. When the Ce content reaches 0.0075 wt%, the minimum values of the number density and average diameter are 96.7 mm−2 and 1.6 μm, respectively. Furthermore, the influence of the size, morphology, quantity, and type of inclusions on the impact toughness are analyzed. The highest recorded impact energy is 6.8 J with a Ce content of 0.0075 wt%. A group of aquatic Coleoptera specimens was collected from Güvenç Village in the Kahramankazan region of Ankara. This study presents the effect of chitosan on the properties of zinc ferrite nanoparticles suitable for potential biomedical applications. The co‐precipitation method is employed to fabricate these bio‐composites that exhibit excellent microstructural properties. The X‐ray diffractometer (XRD) analysis confirms the presence of a cubic spinel structure in the zinc ferrite‐chitosan bio‐composites, indicative of their crystalline nature. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging revealed spherical particles with a size distribution below 100 nm, demonstrating the successful synthesis of homogenous nanosized particles. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectroscopy analysis identifies the active functional groups within the bio‐composites, providing valuable insights into the molecular structure and interactions present in the synthesized materials. The presence of chitosan is confirmed, highlighting its role in modifying the chemical composition and enhancing the biocompatibility of the samples. UV–vis absorption spectra analysis reveals that the samples exhibits absorbance within the visible range. Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis demonstrates the superparamagnetic behavior of the samples. Remarkably, these formulated samples exhibit superparamagnetism with zero coercivity and a magnetization of ≈0.0125 emu g−1 at 5 kOe when doped with chitosan. The low-velocity impact (LVI) characteristics and compression after impact (CAI) properties of aircraft composite laminates under the influence of ultraviolet (UV) radiation were studied. Firstly, 0, 30, 60, 90 days of UV radiation experiments were carried out on the specimens to analyze the characteristics of the surface topography. Secondly, LVI experiments, the impact energies of 10, 17, and 25 J, were carried out on specimens to analyze the impact response laws and the characteristics of the impact instantaneous deformation. Finally, through CAI experiments and scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques to clarify the influence mechanism of UV radiation on the residual compressive strength of specimens. The results showed that with the increase of UV radiation time, the shrinkage and erosion phenomena of the surface matrix and the exposure degree of the surface fibers were gradually increased, and the surface fibers were completely exposed after 90 days of radiation. At the same impact energy, with longer radiation time, the peak force gradually decreased (from 8673.86 to 7851.68 N at 17 J), the absorbed impact energy (from 9.48 to 11.13 J at 17 J) and maximum displacement (from 4.1 to 4.73 mm at 17 J) increased, the depth of pit on the impact surface decreased (from 0.213 to 0.14 mm at 17 J), and the internal damage projection area increased (from 906.68 to 1158.66 mm2 at 17 J). The compression damage of the specimens not exposed to/exposed to UV radiation was mainly fiber cracking/interlayer delamination, respectively. Multidrug‐resistant strains of Acinetobacter baumannii cause major nosocomial infections. Bacteriophages that are specific to the bacterial species and destroy bacteria can be effectively used for treatment. In this study, we characterized lytic bacteriophages specific to A. baumannii strains. We isolated lytic bacteriophages from environmental water samples and then investigated their morphology, host range, growth characteristics, stability, genome analysis, and biofilm destruction on the catheter surface. Our results showed that the efficacy of the phages varied between 32% and 78%, tested on 78 isolates of A. baumannii; 80 phages were isolated, and two lytic bacteriophages, vB_AbaP_HB01 (henceforth called C2 phage) and vB_AbaM_HB02 (henceforth called K3 phage), were selected for characterization. Electron microscopy scans revealed that the C2 and K3 phages were members of the Podoviridae and Myoviridae families, respectively. Whole‐genome sequencing revealed that the sequence of the C2 phage is available in the NCBI database (accession number: OP917929.1), and it was found sequence identity with Acinetobacter phage AB1 18%, the K3 phage DNA sequence is closely related to Acinetobacter phage vB_AbaM_phiAbaA1 (94% similarity). The cocktail of C2 and K3 phages demonstrated a promising decrease in the bacterial cell counts of the biofilm after 4 h. Under a scanning electron microscope, the cocktail treatment destructed the biofilm on the catheter. We propose that the phage cocktail could be a strong alternative to antibiotics to control the A. baumannii biofilm in catheter infections. Acidification, as an effective measure to remove blockages and restore oil well productivity, has received widespread concern. However, conventional acid systems can only be used to unblock near‐wellbore zones and are difficult to act on far‐wellbore reservoirs. In this article, scanning electron microscope, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscope, and X‐ray diffractometer were used to analyze the blockages in the Bai 823 well area, and it was determined that their main components were CaCO3 and FeCO3, which provided the basis for the construction of the unblocking formula. Then, the acid dissolution experiments on the plugging materials showed that the dissolution rate of 10% HCl can reach more than 85% for the scale sample; the acid dissolution experiments on the rock sample showed that the autogenous mud acid has better dissolution performance and better retardation performance for the rock sample, and the effective action time is longer, so it can be used for deeper unplugging of the reservoir. Finally, the process parameters such as the optimal acid concentration, acid dosage, and discharge volume were optimized by establishing the fracture‐matrix acid flow reaction model. A 10‐year‐old neutered male Chihuahua presented with unilateral dental erosion that occurred after several months of oral medications mixed with honey. A pH test was performed on all oral medications administered to the dogs to determine the cause of enamel erosion. Among the medications, the only acidic medication was clopidogrel (pH 2.65). To evaluate the effect of clopidogrel on the tooth surface under the same conditions as in the present patient, an additional preliminary study was designed in which two extracted teeth of another dog were immersed in a clopidogrel–honey mixture or only in honey. After a 3‐week soaking of the extracted tooth in the clopidogrel–honey mixture, field‐emission scanning electron microscope analysis revealed a rougher surface, whereas energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy analysis showed a reduced Ca/C ratio compared to the control tooth. In this study, a homogeneous blend of starch and dietary fiber (DF), which contained both water‐soluble and water‐insoluble compositions, is prepared in ionic liquids. The morphology and structure of the regenerated blend are studied using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). It is found that the morphological structures of both original starch and DF are destroyed, and a homogeneous morphological structure is formed for the blend during the dissolution‐regeneration process in ionic liquids. Though no new chemical combination is observed from the infrared spectrum of the regenerated blend, the shift of absorption peaks appeared due to the destruction of the hydrogen bond during the dissolution of ionic liquids. The XRD results showed that the regenerated blend showed a disordered structure which is different from the orderly crystalline structure of original starch and DF. The disordered structure may result in the reduction of thermal stability. Among three ionic liquids 1‐allyl‐3‐methylimidazole chloride ([AMIM]Cl), 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazole chloride ([EMIM]Cl), and 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazole acetate ([EMIM]OAc), [EMIM]Cl has the best solubility to the blend and also has the most disruptive to the native structure of starch and DF, correspondingly. Boehmite is one of the stable phases of alumina that is easily available, and it also has a variety of applications. Therefore in this work, for preparation of AlOOH, Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solutions was added to aluminum nitrate nonahydrate (Al(NO3)3.9H2O) solution. Then, the surface of AlOOH was modified with (3‐aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES), due to high condensation of hydroxyl groups on its surface. Then, di(pyridin‐2‐yl)methanone (di(PM)) was immobilized on the surface of modified AlOOH toward synthesis of immobilized Schiff‐base on AlOOH (di(PM)@AlOOH) as a heterogeneous Schiff‐base ligand. Finally, a palladium complex was immobilized on its surface (Pd‐di(PM)@AlOOH) as a reusable, practical, and novel nanocatalyst. Pd‐di(PM)@AlOOH was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) analysis, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis, wavelength‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (WDX) analysis, and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analysis. After the characterization of Pd‐di(PM)@AlOOH, its performance was used as a highly practical, stable, retrievable, and hybrid organic–inorganic catalyst in the C‐C coupling of the Suzuki reaction. The hot filtration study of Pd‐di(PM)@AlOOH revealed that it acts heterogeneously in the Suzuki reaction. The preparation of calcium carbonate whiskers by gas‐liquid contact method using low‐grade dolomite refining solution and CO2 as raw materials has attracted widespread attention. The effects of reaction temperature, Mg2+ concentration and pH value on the morphology, particle size, aspect ratio and crystal form of CaCO3（Calcium carbonate） whiskers are investigated in detail. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and XRD (X‐ray powder diffraction) are combined to analyze the calcium carbonate whiskers. The results demonstrated that under the conditions such as 100 °C, Mg2+ concentration of 0.05 mol L−1 and pH value of 9.5, calcium carbonate whiskers with uniform distribution, aspect ratio of 15–20, and purity of 99.38% can be prepared. Through Material Studios simulation software and critical nucleation energy analysis, it is confirmed that the morphology of calcium carbonate whiskers emerged to be a long hexagonal prism. Mg2+ in the refined solution would adhere to the surface of calcium carbonate during carbonization, inhibit the formation of calcite phase, and promote the growth of face clusters connected by vertex angles between CaCO3 crystals. Layered double hydroxides (LDH) are widely used in the field of Mg alloy surface protection due to their interlayer anion exchangeable and physical barrier. To explore the effect of corrosion inhibitor modification on the growth and corrosion resistance of LDH coating, MgAl‐NO3−‐LDH precursor film was obtained on the surface of LA43M alloy by in situ growth method, and then MgAl‐V2O74−‐LDH, MgAl−Cl−‐LDH and MgAl‐ASP‐LDH were prepared by the ion exchange method. The morphology, composition, and corrosion resistance of the LDH film with different anion intercalation were studied systematically by scanning electron microscope, energy disperse spectroscopy, X‐ray diffractometer, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, and electrochemical tests. The results show that the modified LDH nanosheets are larger in size and uniformly tightly bonded to the substrate, and the thickness of the film is increased. Electrochemical tests and hydrogen precipitation experiments demonstrated that all four LDH films provided protection to the substrate, and the corrosion resistance of the V2O74−, Cl− and ASP‐containing films modified by corrosion inhibitors was improved compared with that of the precursor films, among which the MgAl‐V2O74−‐LDH had the best corrosion resistance. Since semiconductor structures are becoming smaller and smaller, the examination methods must also take this development into account. Optical methods have long reached their limits here, but small dimensions are also a challenge for electron beam techniques, especially when it comes to determining optical properties. In this paper, electron microscopic methods of investigating optical properties are discussed. Special attention is given to the physical limits and how to deal with them. We will cover electron energy loss spectrometry as well as cathodoluminescence spectrometry. We pay special attention to inelastic delocalisation, radiation damage, the Čerenkov effect, interference effects of optical excitations and higher diffraction orders on a grating analyser for the cathodoluminescence signal. LAY DESCRIPTION: As semiconductor components continue to evolve, they are shrinking in size. Transistors, the fundamental building blocks of microchips, now measure as small as several nanometres wide. This miniaturisation trend impacts their performance. The investigation of dielectric properties of such building blocks in miniaturised semiconductor devices is best accomplished using electron beam techniques. Thus, one can explore phenomena such as optical properties, bandgap energies and quantum confinement effects. But electron beam techniques also have their physical limitations in terms of spatial resolution, spurious relativistic and interference effects, which are topic of the present work. We utilise the spectroscopic investigation of the probe electrons as well as the emitted light of the electron‐sample interaction. Aim: This study evaluated the transdentinal cytotoxic effects of enzymatic agents (EA) for chemomechanical carious tissue removal on human dental pulp cells. Methodology: The groups were based on the performed dentine treatments (n = 8): G1: Positive Control (PC ‐ no treatment); G2: Negative Control (NC ‐ 35% H2O2 for 2 min); G3: Brix 3000™ (BX) for 30 s; G4: BX for 2 min; G5: Papacarie Duo™ (PD) for 30 s; G6: PD for 2 min. The cells were evaluated for viability (VB; MTT assay) and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS; DCFH‐DA assay) and nitric oxide (NO; Griess reagent). A scanning electron microscope provided morphological chemical analyses and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. The data were submitted to the one‐way anova statistical test complemented by Tukey (p <.05). Results: Cell viability decreased by 21.1% and 58.4% in G5 and G6, respectively. ROS production in G3 and G4 maintained basal levels but increased by 171.2% and 75.1% in G5 and G6, respectively. Conclusions: The Brix3000™ enzymatic agent did not cause indirect cytotoxic effects on pulp cells, regardless of the application time. The anisotropic damage behavior has a great influence on the formability of rolling sheets. This work aimed to investigate the anisotropic damage mechanism of the LA103Z Mg‐Li alloy rolling sheet by combining mesoscale detection and modeling. The X‐ray computed tomography (XCT) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were applied to characterize the evolution of damage morphology and volume fraction in RD, DD, and TD directions of the rolling sheet. The GTN damage model was calibrated by the experimental results with the representative volume element (RVE) method. The anisotropic damage mechanism was revealed via experimental and modeling results. The micro void nucleation strain εN was critical to determine the initiation moment of the anisotropic damage. The continuous nucleation in RD direction, the severe growth in DD direction, and the massive coalescence in TD direction were the micro void evolution competition results that caused the anisotropy for damage mechanism and fracture strain. This study aims to investigate the effect of NaOH concentration and immersion time on the activation of carbon from the oil palm frond, specifically focussing on the surface morphology and characteristics as electrodes for biobattery application. Carbonization and NaOH activation are carried out at 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 M at different immersion times of 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 hour. Moreover, the activated carbon was analyzed with a scanning electron microscope to observe the morphology, and the Brunauer–Emett–Teller (method was used to measure the surface area of activated carbon). Furthermore, another outcome of this study is the development of a prototype biobattery. At 1 M, the optimal concentration of NaOH was observed, producing the highest surface area of 336.493 m2g−1 and an electric potential of 0.653 V. On the other hand, the optimal immersion time was 30 hour with the highest surface area of 396 808 m2g−1 and an electric potential of 0.902 V. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The novel (CuNiZnAlFe)3O4 type nanocrystalline High Entropy Oxide (HEO) was synthesized through the sol‐gel method with combustion at 350°C for 1 h duration. The XRD analysis reveals the formation of inverse spinel [B(AB)O4] type phase indexed with the space group of Fd‐3 m confirmed through the Rietveld Refinement of the XRD data. The lattice constant for the synthesized spinel phase was found to be 8.2453°A. The Scanning Electron Microscope of the synthesized HEO confirms the flakes‐like morphology with porous microstructure. The Energy Dispersive X‐ray (EDX) analysis and elemental mapping confirm the homogeneous distribution of the cations over the selected region. It was found that Fe and Ni are in the +3 and +2 states, other cations, Cu and Zn, are in the +2 states, and Al is in the +3 confirmed through the X‐ray photoelectron Spectroscopy. The electrochemical performance was studied in three electrodes in a 2 M KOH aqueous electrolyte. The specific capacitance value was 2.02, 1.58, 1.24, 1.06, 0.87, 0.71, and 0.65 F/g at scan rates of 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 80, and 100 mV/s, respectively. The low value of specific capacitance was observed due to the stable ionic structure of the inverse spinel phase. The magnetization behavior of the sample is also investigated. Objective: Age‐related changes in the fiber structure around adipocytes were investigated via scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of excised skin tissues. In addition, the viscoelasticity of the subcutaneous fat layer was evaluated via elastography, and the association between the fiber structure and the viscoelastic properties was assessed. Methods: Skin tissues excised from the facial cheek area were used. Then, SEM images of these tissues were obtained. The thickness and quantity of the fibers around adipocytes were assessed using a 5‐point scale. The score was used to grade 18 tissue samples. Moreover, the viscoelasticity of the subcutaneous fat layer in the same samples was evaluated via ultrasound elastography. Results: Based on the SEM image score, an association was observed between the fiber status score and age, thereby indicating a tendency toward age‐related fibrosis. Fiber structures with high scores, which indicate fibrosis, had a significantly lower viscoelasticity based on ultrasound elastography. Conclusion: The thickness and quantity of fibrous structures around adipocytes in the subcutaneous fat layer increase with age, and these changes can be associated with decreased viscoelasticity in the subcutaneous fat layer. Background: This paper compares experimental findings and simulation outcomes of single and multiple protein models moving through a nanopipette biosensor. It provides insights into the factors influencing the process and explores their relevance to proteomics. Methods: Nanopipette biosensors were produced by pulling borosilicate glass tubes and treating them with an electron beam. A scanning electron microscope was used to characterize the nanopipettes. The study measured and modeled ionic currents for the elastase‐specific inhibitor protein. Simulation models were developed using the finite element method and Poisson–Boltzmann formalism, considering different protein configurations and translocation scenarios. Results: The results showed that the pore current of a nanopipette decreases as the protein approaches the nanopipette. The minimum pore current occurs at the widest part of the protein, and the current increases as the protein progresses through the nanopipette. For multiple protein translocations, the pore current decreases between the widest parts of the first and second proteins, and the lowest current is observed at the broadest part of the second protein. After the third protein, the pore current remains constant. It is also found that the fractional blockade difference, translocation speed, fluctuation in pore current, and dwell time are all affected by the number of proteins translocating through the nanopipette. The fractional blockade difference, the decrease in pore current caused by the protein, increases with the number of proteins while the translocation speed decreases. The fluctuation in pore current and dwell time is also longer for three‐protein translocations than for single‐protein translocations. Conclusion: This study offers valuable insights into biomolecule transport through nanopipettes, enhances our understanding of protein dynamics in restricted environments, and significantly contributes to single‐protein sequencing studies, drug screening, and proteomics. This study aims to investigate the effect of stir‐casting process parameters, including stirring speed, stirring time, and weight % of the ceramic microsphere, on the fabrication of an aluminium 6061‐ceramic microsphere composite. Experiments are conducted using a full‐factorial design approach to determine the effect of variables on mechanical properties. A field effect scanning electron microscope is used to analyze the fracture surfaces of the test specimen. Further, the results are subjected to the Anderson‐darling normality test to validate the accuracy of the model, and finally, an analysis of variance is performed to identify the most significant parameters that affect the mechanical properties. The results confirm the validity of the designed experimental model for enhancing the mechanical properties of the aluminium 6061‐ceramic microsphere composite. The optimum mechanical properties are attained for a stirring speed of 600 min−1, stirring time of 15 min, and 5 weight % of reinforcement. Furthermore, the weight percentage of the ceramic microsphere increase, the ductility of the composite decreases while its strength and hardness increase. Finally, the analysis of variance shows that all parameters significantly impact the mechanical properties of the designed composite. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Plant‐based nanoparticles (NPs) have found great interest among various scientist in the present era and used in various sector including medicine, agriculture, and food industry. The various chemical constituents of plants aid in the bioreduction of metal ions to a nanoscale. Among the various NPs synthesized, zinc oxide (ZnO) NPs hold a premier position. ZnO NPs have use in textile, cosmetic, diagnostics, optoelectronics, photocatalysis, diodes, and many other areas. NPs synthesized through green synthesis have a potentially greater role in treating clinical pathogens. Present investigations show a simple eco‐friendly method for the synthesis of ZnO NPs from the husk of sunflower seeds. Sunflower is an economically important crop, for the formation of edible oil. The husk is considered to be a waste, product in oil industry, however, the biomolecules present in sunflower husk can be used to produce ZnO NPs. Present investigations reveal formation of ZnO NPs and investigations of their structure through scanning electron microscope (SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Their optical properties have been studied by ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer (UV–Vis) and fluorophotometer. ZnO NPs have also been investigated for their potential phytoremedial properties. The emergence of antibiotic‐resistant bacterial infections is a principal threat to global health. Functionalization of nanomaterial with antibiotics is known as a useful method for increasing the effectiveness of existing antibiotics. In this study, vancomycin‐functionalized ZnFe2O4 nanocomposite (ZnFe2O4@Cell@APTES@Van) was synthesized, and its functional groups and particle size were characterized using Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscopy. The antibacteria activity of the synthesized nanocomposite was evaluated using minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Cytotoxicity assay was done by 2,3‐bis‐(2‐methoxy‐4‐nitro‐5‐sulfophenyl)‐2H‐tetrazolium‐5‐carboxanilide method. Characterization analyses of synthesized nanocomposite confirmed the binding of vancomysin on the surface of ZnFe2O4@Cell@APTES. Nanocomposite exhibited an aggregated semi‐spherical structure with hydrodynamic radii of ∼382 nm. In vitro antibacterial activity test showed that vancomycin and vancomycin functionalized ZnFe2O4 have no antibacterial effect against E. coli. S. aureus was sensitive to vancomycin and ZnFe2O4@Cell@APTES@Van NPs and ZnFe2O4 NPs did not improve vancomycin antibacterial activity against these bacteria. MRSA is resistant to vancomycin while ZnFe2O4@Cell@APTES@Van NPs was efficient in inhibiting MRSA growth. The oxidation behavior of SUS430 ferritic stainless steel is studied during isothermal oxidation at 1100 °C for 2 h under a mixture of 10, 30, and 50% water vapor and air, and oxidation kinetics curves are drawn. The surface morphology and phase composition of oxide scale are analyzed using X‐Ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope, and energy dispersive spectrometer. The oxidation kinetic curves under three different humidities are S‐shaped and include three stages: induction period, acceleration period, and deceleration period. The controlling steps under 10% water vapor and air are nucleation and growth, while under 30% and 50% water vapor and air are both phase boundary control reactions. The induction period becomes shorter and the breakaway oxidation occurs earlier with increasing water vapor content. The structure of oxide scale produced is layered, with the outer layer being iron oxide and the inner layer being mainly the Fe–Cr spinel phase. The volatilization of Cr and the growth stress of the Cr2O3 layer cause the formation of nodules, and a large number of cracks are generated in oxide scale. The cracks provide diffusion paths, accelerating the diffusion of Fe ions and electrons, as well as the erosion of the substrate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ultrahigh‐strength steel (UHSS) structures are plated with Zn–Ni coatings because of their excellent corrosion resistance properties, but the plating process is accompanied by the production of hydrogen. The presence of hydrogen in steel results in hydrogen embrittlement. Hence, during the production of UHSS parts, dedicated outgassing steps are employed to remove the diffusible hydrogen from the steel. In a production environment, the real effect of the outgassing process and the outgassing efficiency is unknown for parts coated with Zn–Ni. Hence, a finite element model is developed to capture the evolution of the hydrogen concentration profile in coated UHSS parts during outgassing to study the influence of coating morphology and microstructural features of steel. In order to develop the geometry of the model, scanning electron microscope images are analyzed to understand the microstructure and morphology of the coating. Numerical samples are generated by combining different coating morphologies with steel substrates of varying microstructural features to attain a series of samples with varying features. The results of the outgassing simulations clearly demonstrate the major role of the coating morphology on the hydrogen flux. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effect of a 30% predeformation treatment on the high‐temperature oxidation behavior of 436 stainless steel is investigated by oxidizing it at 900 °C for 100 h in air. After 48 h of oxidation, the undeformed sample primarily exhibits bilayer structures consisting of Cr‐rich oxide and outer Fe oxide, while the predeformed sample predominantly displays a single‐layer structure composed of Cr oxide. The oxidation mechanisms of predeformed and undeformed samples are clarified from the point of recrystallization through oxidation kinetic curves, surface and section micrographs, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy‐dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD), and line scanning characterization methods. The results show that after 1 h of oxidation, the grain size of the undeformed sample is 34.6 μm, and the grain size of the predeformed sample is 16.0 μm. This reduces the critical content required for the generation of protective Cr oxides and provides more diffusion channels for Cr elements, resulting in the formation of a greater amount of Cr oxides. Cr oxides can inhibit the formation of Fe and Mn oxides, thus delaying the onset of breakaway oxidation and improving its resistance to oxidation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
