In multi-antenna systems, advanced techniques such as massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), beamforming, and beam selection depend heavily on the accurate acquisition of the channel state. However, pilot contamination (PC) can be a major source of interference which degrades they are performance. Moreover, the severity of PC increases as more pilots are reused between users in the wireless systems. Researchers have shown that PC can be mitigated by using deep learning (DL) approaches. Nevertheless, when minimizing PC, the examination that identifies the applications and factors that distinguish these DL approaches is still limited. This paper reviews these DL approaches and the improvements needed to enhance their performance. The stability of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a crucial requirement in real-time applications such as military, defense, and other surveillance systems. Clustering in WSNs is one of the most predominant techniques, offering benefits such as minimizing communication time, optimizing energy utilization, lengthening the network lifespan, and ensuring network stability. Moreover, achieving the balance between energy consumption and maintaining network stability is significantly influenced by the cluster size. This research paper addresses the challenges associated with clustered-based routing and cluster formation paradigm, introducing a novel algorithm employing the principle of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). In particular, the proposed algorithm integrates a hybrid strategy of Self Organizing Map (SOM) and K-mean clustering to form energy-efficient clusters, even ensuring the energy distribution evenly among them. The validity of the proposed algorithm has been confirmed through experimental analysis conducted using MATLAB. The simulation results demonstrate that the hybrid combination of SOM and K-means clustering is highly efficient in minimizing energy consumption and maintaining network stability. The findings also reveal an average of 80% stable network lifetime and achieve a packet reception ratio (PRR) of 98% which is much higher than two other protocols i.e. LEACH and MODLEACH protocols. This paper describes deep neural network (DNN) models based on hyperparameter optimization for the prediction of the compressive strength of concrete. The novelty of this research lies in the implementation of optimized hyperparameters to train the DNN models with the aim to enhance their predictive accuracy. Utilizing the Keras Tuner library, the most effective hyperparameters for the DNN models were identified. These models are then trained and evaluated using an experimental dataset of 1030 instances, encompassing nine quantitative variables that include various concrete mix ingredients and age. The target variable for all models is the compressive strength of concrete. The assessment of model performance, based on metrics like mean squared error (MSE) and R² values, was conducted on previously unseen test data. The optimal configuration for the hidden layers in the model was identified as five layers, containing 12, 16, 16, 40, and 26 neurons, respectively. The optimal learning rate for the model was 0.001. With this set of optimal hyperparameters, the best DNN model achieved an MSE of 28.76 and an R² value of 0.89 on the testing data. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in the DNN models' performance when trained with the optimized hyperparameters. In comparison to the regression model, the performance of the DNN models was significantly better. Adopting the predictive models developed in this research offers the potential for substantial cost and time savings by circumventing the need for labour-intensive and time-consuming laboratory tests. Relating specifically to human–computer interaction (HCI), computer vision research has placed a substantial emphasis on intelligent emotion recognition in recent years. The primary emphasis lies in investigating speech aspects and bodily motions, while the knowledge of recognizing emotions from facial expressions remains relatively unexplored. Automated facial emotion detection allows a machine to assess and understand a person’s emotional state, allowing the system to predict intent by analyzing facial expressions. Therefore, this research provides a novel parameter selection strategy using swarm intelligence and a fitness function for intelligent recognition of micro emotions. This paper presents a novel method based on geometric visual representation obtained from facial landmark points. We employ the Deep Neural Networks (DNN) model to analyze the input features from the normalized angle and distance values derived from these landmarks. The results of the experiments show that Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) worked very well by using only a few carefully chosen features. In this study, a bibliometric analysis technique is used for performance analysis and science mapping of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in streamflow research. This paper examines the current trends in the literature using the Scopus database over the last 37 years. RStudio Bibliometrix software was used to analyse the titles, keywords, abstracts, and full texts of 3000 publications to identify trends in AI models, publication types, journals, citations, authors, countries, and regions. The highest frequency AI-related keyword is "artificial neural networks," which was used in a total of 25587 times. The most common publication type, at 82.1%, is journal articles, and the highest rate of country production is 25% for China. Natural streamflow data is required in many hydrological applications. However, many basins are located in data-scarce regions or are impacted by human construction and activities. In this paper, we explore three machine learning algorithms, namely artificial neural networks, random forest and light gradient boosting machine, to simultaneously estimate all the parameters of the coupled modèle du Génie Rural à 4 paramètres Journaliers (GR4J) and snow accounting routine called CemaNeige model. A database of 675 basins in the USA and Quebec is used to train and test ensembles. After using the estimated parameters in GR4J, the resulting naturalized streamflow series are compared with those obtained by the established drainage area ratio and spatial proximity transfer methods in 11 test basins. The results indicate that the machine learning algorithms outperform the drainage area ratio and spatial proximity transfer methods. The insinuations of the ailments associated with the unrestrained and disorganized proliferation of artificial impervious materials over natural surfaces are prevalent among city dwellers. These impacts can be comprehended by estimating land surface temperature (LST), as it is vital for evaluating urban climate, particularly to explain the intensity of urban heat islands and to define the health and welfare of the planet as well as the living beings. Urbanization-driven landscape changes severely disrupt comfortable living in almost every city, necessitating monitoring and modelling historical, current, and likely future LSTs. This research article proposes two forecasting techniques: Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models. These models have been widely accepted for the efficient prediction of climatic parameters, including LST, over an urban area. The landscape, elevation, and LST trend served as input to the models for an accurate prediction of LST. The analysis was performed over the Kolkata Metropolitan Area (KMA) with an additional 10 km buffer to understand urban growth and its effect on the LST of the entire region. The two developed models (MLR and ANN) effectively anticipated the LST over the KMA region. A continual increment in the surface temperatures ranging from 1 ℃ to 4 ℃, over existing and likely-predicted urban areas was comprehended. It was anticipated that the regions near the urban areas will also experience severe discomfort and heat waves without proper mitigation measures. This article addresses the class imbalance problem in urban gain modelling (UGM) of Tabriz and Isfahan megacities in Iran by proposing novel cost-sensitive machine learning models, namely costsensitive support vector machine (CSVM), random forest (CRF) and artificial neural network (CANN). Random sampling, a frequently utilized method, fails to effectively tackle this issue by biasing models towards no change samples, which outnumber change samples. The results showed that CRF exhibited the highest accuracy (AUC = 0.560), followed by CANN (AUC = 0.557) and CSVM (AUC = 0.448) in Isfahan. In Tabriz, CRF (AUC = 0.809) and CANN (AUC = 0.818) excelled, outperforming balanced sampling models constructed with ANN, RF and SVM with the AUROC of ANN and RF boosted by 15% and 2% in validation. By emphasizing the significance of addressing class imbalance appropriately, this research highlights the improvement in modelling outcomes achievable through the cost-sensitive models especially in Tabriz case. Determining the optimal generalization operators of city buildings is a crucial step during the building generalization process and an important aspect of realizing cross-scale updating of map data. It is a decision-making behavior of the cartographer that can be learned and simulated using artificial intelligence algorithms. Multi-scale data can provide rich generalization samples to train the determination process. However, previous studies have focused primarily on the intelligent use of each generalization operator separately, neglecting the intelligent scheduling issue between multiple operators when they are used simultaneously. Herein, we propose an improved graph neural network (GNN) called self-neighborhood merged GNN (SNGNN) that selects the optimal generalization operators for different buildings. In SNGNN, node and edge information are passed with different weights through two modules to simulate the effects of a building on itself and the neighborhood on either side. SNGNN has been experimentally validated using sample datasets for Ningbo, China, at 1:10,000 and 1:25,000. The F1-score of the testing dataset was 94.19%, and the classification precision of each operator was ≥87%. Plant diseases, mainly caused by bacteria and fungi, affect crop yield and quality. Detecting disease symptoms at an early stage and promptly is a significant obstacle in safeguarding crops. In developing nations, experts and agronomists commonly opt for visual identification of diseases on vast farms, which incurs both time and monetary expenses. Scientists have suggested diverse deep neural network architectures for recognizing plant ailments. Nevertheless, deep learning algorithms necessitate a vast amount of parameters, which extends the training duration but yields commendable precision. While deep learning and Densenet are widely used in pesticide recommendations. Researchers have suggested diverse deep-learning architectures for detecting agricultural ailments and recommend appropriate pesticides. Test images were diagnosed using an automated Densenet model and the results were verified by plant pathologists. An accuracy of over 92% was achieved in identifying the disease. Our solution is an innovative, scalable and accessible tool for disease management of various crops that can be implemented as a cloud service for farmers and professionals involved sustainable agricultural production. This research designs and develops a software innovation for Pattavia pineapple cultivation and productivity distribution planning to increase income for farmers. This research formulated and introduced an innovative machine learning (ML) model, the new model is called a new intelligent particle swarm optimization algorithm with extreme learning machine (NIPSO-ELM), to forecast Pattavia pineapple productivity with a notable degree of precision and dependability. In this work, the artificial neural network (ANN) and the standard ELM was built, and assessed for its ability to forecast the productivity of Pattavia pineapples. The findings indicate that the ELM neural network is an innovative model characterized by its straightforward architecture and exceptional performance. Moreover, the utilization of particle swarm optimization (PSO), ant colony optimization (ACO) and the NIPSO algorithms significantly enhanced ELM performance when forecasting the productivity of Pattavia pineapples. The NIPSO-ELM model emerged as the most optimal ML model for accurately, reliably and stably forecasting the productivity of Pattavia pineapples in practical scenarios. The most optimal NIPSO-ELM models for the Loei provinces, Thailand exhibit the following performance metrics: RMSE = 304.36389, MAE = 243.29531, MAPE = 0.03753 and MASE = 0.93157. Advancements in technology and the compulsion to use environment-friendly materials have been challenging tasks for researchers for the past two decades. Researchers have been focusing on the utilization of plant fibers to produce good quality fiber-reinforced polymer/polyester composites for automobile, structural, and building applications. Researchers have been looking for high-quality and cost-effective drilling processes. The primary goal of this study is to identify optimal drilling conditions for CCFRP composite laminates, affecting thrust force and torque. This is achieved by manipulating drilling process variables using Taguchi's Design of Experiments (TDOE), Analysis of variance (ANOVA), Response Surface Methodology (RSM), Desirability Function Analysis (DFA) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN). From the results, it was observed that the spindle speed of 2000 rpm, feed of 15 mm/min, point angle of 90°, fiber length of 6 mm, fiber volume of 30%, and fiber diameter of 7 microns gave the optimum results for obtaining minimum thrust force and torque. Further RSM revealed that an increase in fiber vol % and a decrease in spindle speed resulted in an increase in thrust force and torque. From DFA optimization results, the minimum thrust force of 24.0042N and minimum torque of 0.8001N-m was obtained. Finally, the experimental values of thrust force and torque were compared with the corresponding values predicted by the MLP-ANN model. Fast and accurate wheeling pricing has emerged as an important issue in the recent competitive power market. Embedded cost-based wheeling pricing is well accepted by power market, because it is based on actual flow of power wheeled by them. It also recovers fully the fixed cost of wheeling facility installation and operation. In this article, metaphor-less Rao-3-based ACOPF, MVA-mile method and Bialek tracing has been employed to compute wheeling prices across various generators and loads. In actual power market due to continuously varying load conditions, the computation of wheeling prices is quite a time taking process. Because for computing wheeling prices, the optimal power flow (OPF) program has to be run each time for every loading condition. In this scenario, the artificial neural network (ANN) approach has been found to be very useful, to estimate wheeling prices instantly and accurately for any unseen loading scenario. Here, a number of ANNs have been developed under parallel computing environment. Concrete-filled steel tubes (CFSTs) have demonstrated superior performance compared to other types of composite columns. The evaluation of interactions between concrete and steel composites is crucial due to their significant impact on the overall structural behavior in various loadings. This study develops an artificial neural network (ANN) that predicts the ultimate interfacial bond strength (Pu) of circular and square CFSTs. The length of the interfacial bond between the tube and the concrete; the thickness, shape, and inner perimeter of the tube; and the cubic compression strength and age of the concrete are considered as model inputs. The modeling process uses 397 experimental datasets from 18 studies of push-out tests, more specifically, 143 square and 254 circular CFSTs. ANN with a hidden layer of error-propagation, feed-forward, and sigmoidal activation function is trained, tested, optimized, and validated to achieve a good estimate. The resulting model can predict the Pu with a satisfactory coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.87. The ability of the developed model to predict the Pu is compared to the proposed formulas in the literature. It is found that the ANN model provides the most accurate predictions among all suggested formulas, in terms of R² and Taylor diagram analyses. Furthermore, the inclusion of the shape factor enabled the ANN model to predict the Pu of both squared and circular shapes of CFSTs. This study explores the adoption of blockchain technology within the Ethiopian National Quality Infrastructure (NQI). Data from 178 professionals representing various organizations and roles were collected to investigate key adoption factors. By integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework, external factors (Technology Compatibility, Relative Advantage, Government Support, and Policy) and internal factors (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and intention to use) were examined. A dual-stage analytical approach involving partial least square-based structural equation model (PLS-SEM) and artificial neural network (ANN) analyses was employed. The findings emphasize the significance of technological compatibility, perceived usefulness, and top management support as determinants of blockchain adoption in the NQI. Particularly, the compatibility of the existing system emerges as the most influential factor in adopting blockchain technology within the Ethiopian NQI. This study enhances the understanding of blockchain adoption within the NQI context, providing valuable insights for successful implementation. High specific strength and good fatigue limit are the key properties to watch out during development of aerospace components. Aluminum composites are proven high specific strength materials especially graphene embedded composites worth a mention in this context. While, surface finish is an eminent parameter affecting fatigue strength of a component showcasing the importance of machining technique employed to transform a fabricated bulk into finished product. Current study, therefore emphasizes on electrical discharge machining (EDM) of aluminum composites embedded with graphene nanoplatelets (1.5 wt.%) fabricated through a hybrid approach of blending solid and liquid metallurgical routes. Further, mathematical and neurological forecast models are developed to individually predict the machining response variables namely surface roughness (SR), material removal rate (MRR) and tool wear rate (TWR). Among machining parameters current (I), pulse on-time (Ton), pulse off-time (Toff) and flushing pressure (P) considered; Ton is noted to greatly influence the surface quality of composite while TWR and MRR are affected by current during ANOVA analysis. On comparative understanding of forecast models, neurological models outperform quadratic non-linear mathematical models where accuracy of prediction achieved by developed artificial neural network (ANN) model is 96% for surface roughness. The error performance plots, error histograms and overall fit plots depict a marginal over-fit neurological model. Lung Cancer is a major cancer in the world and specifically India. Histopathological examination of tumorous tissue biopsy is the gold standard method used to clinically identify the type, sub-type, and stage of cancer. Two of the most prevalent forms of lung cancer: Adenocarcinoma & Squamous Cell Carcinoma account for nearly 80% of all lung cancer cases, which makes classifying the two subtypes of high importance. Proposed in this study is a data pre-processing pipeline for the H&E-stained lung biopsy images along with a customized EfficientNetB3-based Convolutional Neural Network employing spatial attention, trained on a public three-class lung cancer histopathological image dataset. The pre-processing pipeline employed before training, validation and testing helps enhance features of the histopathological images and removes biases due to stain variations for increased model robustness. The usage of a pre-trained CNN helps the deep learning model generalize better with the pre-trained weights, while the attention mechanism On three-fold validation, the classifier bagged accuracies of 0.9943 ± 0.0012 and 0.9947 ± 0.0018 and combined F1-Scores of 0.9942 ± 0.0042 and 0.9833 ± 0.0216 over the validation and testing data respectively. The nature of paratransit services makes for increased uncertainty in trip time, leading to reported unreliability and dissatisfaction by the users. While providing travel information has proved helpful in formal bus services and has been recommended for paratransit setup, little is reported about efforts at providing information to paratransit users. This study focused on one strand of possible travel information that can be provided - Travel Time. An artificial neural network (ANN)-based model was developed to predict paratransit travel times, geared towards providing information to improve user experiences. The developed model was tested on a real-world paratransit bus route (minibus taxi) in Kumasi. A travel time survey that employed a mobile phone application was used to collect data onboard the vehicles on the study route. Two ANN models were trained. The first used only historical datasets, while the second incorporated real-time information. The results show that the model in which real-time information was included performed better than that trained with only historical data. The developed models were compared with a historical average model and a regression-based model, and the results showed that the ANN models outperformed the others. The study showed that the nature of paratransit services and the limitations of continuous data collection, notwithstanding, travel times of paratransit trips can be predicted to a reasonable level of accuracy, as can be relied upon in providing information to the users. Alzheimer's disease is a gradual neurodegenerative condition affecting the brain, causing a decline in cognitive function by progressively damaging nerve cells over time. While a cure for Alzheimer's remains elusive, the detection of Alzheimer's disease (AD) through brain biomarkers is crucial to impede its advancement. High-resolution structural MRI scans, particularly T1-weighted images, are commonly used in Alzheimer's detection. These images provide detailed information about the brain's structure, allowing researchers and clinicians to identify abnormalities. Our study employs a deep learning methodology using T1-weighted MRI images for a binary classification task--distinguishing between AD and normal/healthy control (NC). The volumetric convolutional neural network model is deployed on pre-processed images and validated on MIRIAD datasets, achieving an impressive accuracy of 97%, surpassing other network models. Addressing the challenge of limited datasets for deep learning models, we incorporated various augmentation techniques such as rotation and rescaling, resulting in outstanding model accuracy and effective discerning between Alzheimer's disease and normal controls.
