Higher education institutions have a key role in forming the specialists of the future. In fulfilling their role there is need for transformational leadership, culture of excellence, and academic leadership development. The purpose of this study is to investigate the link between transformational leadership, shaping a culture of educational excellence, and leadership development, as perceived by tertiary education leaders in the UAE. The qualitative approach is of focus groups, using semi-structured questions, with leaders in academia. The main finding is that in the initial stages of an organization life cycle, leadership development precedes transformational leadership and a culture of excellence. In later stages, leadership development is a mediator of transformational leadership and a culture of excellence. Our primary objective in this study was to psychometrically evaluate the Transformational Parenting Questionnaire (TPQ) within the Turkish context. Secondarily, we aimed to determine whether the questionnaire demonstrated measurement invariance across children's genders and grade levels. We included 950 participants, aged 11–18 years (446 girls, 498 boys, 6 unspecified gender identity; M age = 14.73, SD = 1.85 years). Confirmatory factor analysis provided support for the original 4-factor structure of the TPQ, and there was satisfactory criterion-related correlational validity between this instrument and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. The TPQ exhibited robust internal item reliability coefficients, and respondent's test-retest correlations over a 15-day interval suggested adequate item response consistency. Importantly, we confirmed measurement invariance of the scale across participants gender and educational grade levels. There is a lack of consensus regarding the impact of personal factors, such as ethnicity, on job satisfaction in employees working in multi-ethnic teams. Globalization has led to an increase in the heterogeneity in team members' characteristics. Therefore, organizations are interested in identifying effective ways to manage such teams. Transformational leadership has been proven effective in managing teams to reach organizational goals. Accordingly, the present study aimed to examine the impact of ethnicity and other demographic characteristics on employees' job satisfaction and their perception of their manager as a transformational leader. The sample comprised 115 mid-level employees from three US-based multinational technology firms. Data were collected using a questionnaire that included the Leadership Practices Inventory, the Job Satisfaction Survey, and items on participants' demographic characteristics. Analysis included parametric or non-parametric statistics and correlations. Findings revealed a high job satisfaction level and a high tendency to perceive one's manager as a transformational leader. No significant differences were observed based on demographic characteristics, while job satisfaction and perception of the manager as a transformational leader were correlated positively. Abstract Building on the theories of social capital and self-determination as complementary perspectives, this study investigates how an individual’s idea of organizational social capital affects project success by testing a dual-stage moderated mediation model with self-efficacy as a mediator and transformational leadership as a moderator at both the first and second stages. Time-lagged data from 213 project management practitioners were collected from construction project–based firms. It was revealed that self-efficacy partially mediates the effect of an employee’s perception of organizational social capital on project success. In this case study, we use two complementary frameworks, Kotter's (1996, 2014) change model and Torres' (2019, 2021) Transformational Resistant Leadership theory, to analyze institutional change processes and activist leaders' actions that laid the groundwork for a Latinx mentoring program at a Predominantly white 1 Institution (PwI). Our investigation revealed the importance of critically analyzing societal forces, recognizing causes of systemic institutional change, and theoretically grounding insights of successful efforts to disrupt systemic racism. Mediation analysis tests X → M → Y processes in which an independent variable (X) exerts an indirect effect on a dependent variable (Y) through its influence on an intervening or mediator variable (M). A preponderance of mediation studies, however, focuses on determining solely whether mediation effects are statistically significant, instead of focusing on what the results tell us about potential theoretical refinements in the mediation model. We argue in favor of employing a set of three standardized effect sizes based on variance proportions that allow researchers to compare their results with those of other mediation studies employing similar combinations of X, M, and Y variables. These standardized effect sizes constitute a set of common metrics signaling potential gaps in a mediation model, and as such provide useful insights for the theoretical refinement of mediation models in organizational research. We illustrate the utility of comparing these common-metric effect sizes using the examples of abusive and transformational leadership effects on employee outcomes as transmitted by social exchange quality. As institutions, schools hold a place of significant value for their stakeholders. Selznick (1957/1984) recognised that institutions require a particular type of leadership that is concerned with the promotion and protection of values. Although not a new theory, institutional leadership has not received much attention by both researchers and practitioners since its formation, which has given way to the more familiar concepts of transactional and transformational leadership. A systematic literature review was carried out to survey what enactments of institutional leadership are taking place in different institutions and what impact Selznick's theories still have on leadership practice. A thematic analysis of the literature found institutional leaders acting in five areas: (1) managing institutional identity, (2) leading followers, (3) managing the external environment, (4) organisational management, and (5) management of the self. Amidst growing demands for more democratic forms of organizing, we argue that better understanding the origins of transformational leadership theory offers a way forward. Transformational leadership theory, originally developed by American political scientist James MacGregor Burns in the late 1970s, is the best-known and most influential leadership theory in management studies. Transformational leaders are visionaries who engage with followers' higher-level needs and inspire them to deliver extraordinary outcomes for their organizations. Democracy was at the core of Burns' conception of transformational leadership: voters selected their leaders and voted them out if they failed to deliver on their visions. However, this was overlooked by those who introduced the theory to management studies. Using intellectual history, we contrast the conventional representation of transformational leadership theory in business with Burns' original conception. The present study examined the configurations, or profiles, taken by distinct global and specific facets of job engagement and burnout (by relying on a bifactor operationalization of these constructs) among a nationally representative sample of Canadian Defence employees (n = 13,088; nested within 65 work units). The present study also adopted a multilevel perspective to investigate the role of job demands (work overload and role ambiguity), as well as individual (psychological empowerment), workgroup (interpersonal justice), supervisor (transformational leadership), and organizational (organizational support) resources in the prediction of profile membership. Latent profile analyses revealed five profiles of employees: Burned-Out/Disengaged (7.13%), Burned-Out/Involved (12.13%), Engaged (18.14%), Engaged/Exhausted (15.50%), and Normative (47.10%). The highest turnover intentions were observed in the Burned-Out/Disengaged profile, and the lowest in the Engaged profile. Employees' perceptions of job demands and resources were also associated with profile membership across both levels, although the effects of psychological empowerment were more pronounced than the effects of job demands and resources related to the workgroup, supervisor, and organization. Individual-level effects were also more pronounced than effects occurring at the work unit level, where shared perceptions of work overload and organizational support proved to be the key shared drivers of profile membership. Market orientation positively affects an organization's commercial and financial performance in both the short and long term. Why does the manager's transformational leadership style encourage the emergence of a market-oriented culture in the organization? Under what conditions is this influence stronger? In this research note, we analyze 163 manager–employee dyads in Senegalese Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and show, in line with social learning theory, (1) that the manager's transformational leadership stimulates market orientation through its effects on the quality of exchanges between manager and employees, and (2) that this indirect effect is positively moderated by the manager's own level of market orientation (moderated mediation). Previous research has highlighted positive associations between teacher transformational leadership and student enjoyment in school. However, there is a dearth of evidence regarding the mediating effect that motivational orientation has on the relationships between transformational leadership and enjoyment in physical education classes. Given that an affinity for physical education fosters healthy behaviors among adolescents outside of school, this study explores the relationships between teachers' transformational leadership style and enjoyment experienced by students in physical education, examining the mediating role played by motivational orientation in these relationships. A total sample of 478 adolescents aged 13 to 18 years (mean = 14.55; standard deviation = 1.11) participated. To assess the study variables, the Transformational Teaching Questionnaire, the Task and Ego Orientation in Sports Questionnaire, and the Sport Satisfaction Instrument in Physical Education were used. The findings from the applied structural equation model revealed a significant and positive relationship between teachers' transformational leadership style and students' perceived satisfaction, while negative relationships were observed with feelings of boredom. Additionally, positive connections were established between task orientation and enjoyment, along with negative associations with boredom. Indirect effects were also found between a transformational leadership style and both enjoyment and boredom, mediated by the variable task motivational orientation. These results underscore the importance of evaluating both students' motivational factors and their perceptions of teachers, since they may interact with each other to determine their school satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the role of transformational leadership on followers' creative performance through pro-growth working environment, entrepreneurial values-based developmental interaction capability, and psychological empowerment in start-up businesses in Indonesia and to test a new pro-growth working environment concept in that model. This study uses a Structural Equation Model (SEM) using data analysis tools, namely WarpPLS. The research design used a survey method, and data collection was carried out using questionnaires sent directly to the research respondents. In this study, the population is start-up business employees in Indonesia. The sampling technique is purposive, and this study's sample is 270 respondents. The results indicate that all the variables significantly influence each other. The existence of transformational leadership, a pro-growth working environment, entrepreneurial values-based development interaction capability, and the right psychological empowerment can affect creative performance to get even better results. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries plays an important role in making the sea the future of the nation with three mission pillars, namely the mission of sovereignty, sustainability, and welfare. To realize this missions, the ministry carries out bureaucratic reform and innovates in community service, which depends on the innovative work behavior of its middle managers. This study analyzes the direct effect of transformational leadership and self-determination on innovative work behavior. The mediation roles of person-organization fit and social media usage are also tested. One hundred thirty middle managers were selected as respondents and completed the questionnaire online. The analyzing of this research data was carried out with structural equation modeling. This research output clearly shows innovative work behavior improvement among middle managers. It can be used as a basis for consideration for middle managers in formulating policies related to innovative work behavior by focusing on more appropriate transformational leadership and self-determination, as well as the involvement of person-organization fit and social media usage. This study aimed to determine the relationship between narcissism and team cohesion of transformational leadership and individual sports athletes interactions. In particular, individual sports can present a model to verify the level of perception of team cohesion according to the type of record sports and martial arts sports. Transformational leadership, narcissism, and team cohesion were measured among 225 college athletes. SPSS 24.0, Amos 24.0, PROCESS Macro programs (Model No. 5) were used for data analysis. The analysis includes frequency analysis, Cronbach's alpha values, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Pearson's correlation, and moderating effect. Transformational leadership significantly positively affected team cohesion and narcissism. Non-narcissism also significantly positively affected team cohesion. The interaction between transformational leadership and individual athletes was significantly higher for martial arts sports. Team cohesion was also important for athletes in individual sports, thus expanding the boundaries of transformational leadership theory. In recent years, there has been an upswing in the research on cyber incivility and its impact on individuals and organizations. Despite its negative consequences, cyber incivility has become increasingly common in the workplace as an increasing number of employees use technology to communicate. This study investigated the impact of cyber incivility on the service innovation of Jordanian hotel workers and the mediating effects of leadership change. A comprehensive survey involving employees of Jordanian hotels was conducted, and responses were subjected to structural equation modeling analysis using Smart PLS 4.0 software. The analysis reveals that cyber incivility has a significant negative direct impact on service innovation, while transformational leadership demonstrates a positive and significant direct effect on service innovation. Additionally, the mediating role of transformational leadership in the relationship between cyber incivility and service innovation is negative and significant (b =2.171, r= 0.000), emphasizing its crucial contribution to mitigating the adverse effects of cyber incivility on service innovation in the hotel industry. This study explored the underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions of the relationship between transformational leadership and teacher burnout. Specifically, it investigated the mediating role of teacher self-efficacy and the moderating role of teacher emotional intelligence (EI) in this relationship. Data from 539 primary and secondary school teachers were analyzed using Structural Equation Model and hierarchical regression. The results indicate that transformational leadership predicted teacher burnout negatively, self-efficacy mediated the association of transformational leadership with burnout partially, and EI strengthened the association between transformational leadership and burnout. This study has important theoretical and managerial implications as it deepens the understanding of the association between transformational leadership and burnout in the educational field and provides practical suggestions on how to relieve teacher burnout in the school context. This study tested a moderated mediation model of transformational leadership's effects on teacher innovative practices, with teacher commitment as mediator and trust in principal as moderator. Implementing a cross-sectional survey design and using data from 611 teachers working in 56 schools in Turkey, we employed multilevel structural equation modelling with Bayesian estimation to estimate the structural links between our variables. The results provided evidence of the indirect effects of transformational leadership on teacher innovative practices through the significant mediator role of teacher commitment. We also found evidence that trust in principal acted as a significant moderator of the indirect effect of transformational leadership on teacher innovative practice through teacher commitment. This study adds nuanced evidence to the global literature by concluding that the effect of transformational leadership on teacher commitment and innovative practice is contingent upon the extent to which teachers trust their principals. This study draws on three well-established streams of leadership research: transformational leadership, servant leadership, and five-factor personality theory and applies them to the labor union context. The study tested the relationship between these theories and both leader and union effectiveness. The sample consisted of 240 respondents who rated the leadership of 60 participants in the 2018 and 2019 Harvard Trade Union Program. Results indicated that the best predictors of both leader effectiveness and union effectiveness were the transformational and servant leadership styles. In contrast with other research, the five-factor personality variables (extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability, openness, and agreeableness) had no significant relationship with leadership effectiveness after controlling for the leadership style models. Only two of the five personality variables, extraversion and emotional stability, were related to union effectiveness after controlling for the effects of transformational and servant leadership. Objective: The aim was to explore the existence of health care leadership gaps in communication, which occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, by utilizing a qualitative research approach. Materials and Methods: Participants were recruited from a single professional organization. The volunteer leadership group was the frame for recruiting study participation. This work was conducted with a flexible research design method. A demographic survey, interview guide, and data triangulation survey were used to collect data from 21 participants over a four-week period. The participant responses were then analyzed through a process of coding and thematic analysis. Results: Five themes were generated from this cohort's data, which alluded to gaps in leadership communication. These gaps occurred in the leader/employee relationship, at their respective institutions. Triangulation of the data from surveys underscored the presence of these communication gaps. Conclusion: The findings of this study may suggest the importance of a set of communication competencies for those in health care leadership, regardless of the complexities of a pandemic. This study sought to explore the extent to which and how principals can help decrease the use of out-of-school suspension and close the racial discipline gap. This study comprised a qualitative case study of a principal in an urban school district. Data derive from in-depth interviews with current and former campus and district leaders, historical data, and documents. The principal's transformational actions, together with support from the district, helped to improve the school's culture, and decreased the use of OSS, but were not sufficient to close the racial discipline gap. Transformational leadership has been presented as a tool for coaches to foster positive youth development. One component of this concept is individualized consideration (IC), where leaders show care through supporting their followers' individual needs. Examining the unique context of minor hockey will provide a more nuanced and complex description of IC. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to demonstrate how minor hockey coaches consider individual differences and tailor their practice to athletes' needs. Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with 10 male minor hockey coaches whose teams consisted of 9- to 13-year-old, predominantly male, athletes. Findings show these coaches demonstrated the use of IC through three steps (a) gathering information about their athletes (e.g. engaging in interactions), (b) assessing individual needs (e.g. developmental) and (c) acting to support IC (e.g. adjusting coaching practices). Findings suggest (a) IC can be implemented to support basic and more complex needs of athletes, (b) IC can be implemented with teams of athletes and (c) the context of minor hockey is constraining the implementation of IC. This systematic literature review critically evaluates 14 empirical studies published over a 14 years span (2006–2019) to answer questions about the models and the effects of transformational school leadership on student academic achievement. The analysis of the related literature utilized vote counting and narrative synthesis to delineate the status quo of the current research field. It was found that the majority of these studies were conducted in Western and English- speaking countries and these studies utilizing different research methods and models reported mixed results. Aim: The purpose of this paper is to identify teacher-level latent profiles of open innovation mindset and explore how these profiles moderate the effects of leader-member exchange on their exploitation and exploration activities. We also aim to investigate the indirect effects of principal transformational leadership on exploration activities via leader-member exchange. Research Design: Using a sample of 3,075 teachers working in 261 schools from 12 provinces across Türkiye, this study, first, employed a moderation analysis with latent profiles variables and, second, conduct a two-level structural equation model. Findings: Latent profile analysis produced three types of teacher mindset profiles: growth, average, and fixed. Findings indicate the quality of the dyadic exchange with the school principal did not influence engagement in exploitation activities of teachers with a growth mindset, whereas it contributed to the exploration activities of those teachers. Our results showed that when teachers perceived that their principal exhibited a higher level of transformational leadership behavior, they were more likely to have a higher leader-member exchange, which in turn increased the teachers’ exploration behavior. Implications: This study highlights both exploitative and explorative activities are facilitated by high-quality work-related social processes within the school, and we need to recognize affective and relational contexts in the schools, as they are primarily social institutions. The present research examines the relationship between school transformational leadership and innovation radicalness in classrooms with the moderating and mediating role of psychological safety, to provide an understanding of whether and to what extent the influence of leadership on innovation radicalness in teaching might be strengthened or weakened across various levels of psychological safety. Utilizing a dataset that included 5052 teachers working in 147 schools across Kyrgyzstan, we conducted multilevel analyses to test the proposed hypotheses. We found a positive association of transformational leadership with psychological safety and innovation radicalness in classrooms at the teacher level. Moreover, transformational leadership was more strongly related to radical innovation in schools with greater psychological safety among teachers both at the teacher and school levels. We conclude that school principals should prioritize the emotional state of teachers characterized by psychological safety by acting as transformational leaders, thereby enhancing the impact of their practices on the realization of higher innovation radicalness in the pedagogical practices of teachers. This study explores the relationship between early career teachers’ sense of professional agency in the classroom, their perceptions of principals’ transformational leadership vision, and school size. The survey data were collected from 779 primary and junior secondary school teachers with a maximum of 5 years of teaching experience in China. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling in the Mplus statistical package. The results show that teachers possess a relatively high sense of professional agency and report that their principals exhibit a rather high ability to sustain shared transformational vision. The results also suggest that teachers’ sense of professional agency is positively correlated with their perceptions of transformational vision. Moreover, the results revealed that teachers’ sense of professional agency in terms of collaborative learning and transformative practice is significantly higher in small schools than in large schools. This study aims to identify teachers’ cultural value profiles and to investigate how each profile moderates the empirical link between principal transformational leadership and teacher job satisfaction. Gathering data from a sample of 1062 teachers in 113 elementary and lower secondary schools in Türkiye, this cross-sectional study conducted latent profile analysis with moderation modelling to measure the structural links between study variables. Results showed that the sampled teachers were categorized under four profiles: decisive and participatory culture, flexible collaboration culture, rule-oriented culture, and respectful authority culture. The study also provided evidence of the significant moderator role of cultural values profiles on the association between transformational leadership and job satisfaction with the work environment and the profession. Paternalistic Leadership (PL) style is suggested to be an emic manifestation of Transformational Leadership (TL) in cultural contexts characterized by high power distance and collectivism. The present study investigated the effects of TL and PL behaviors on employees’ multidimensional work motivation and organizational commitment and the mediating effects of satisfaction of psychological needs (needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness) in these relationships. Data were collected from 423 white-collar employees and analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling. The findings revealed that TL was significantly related to employees’ autonomous and controlled work motivations as well as amotivation via its association with the satisfaction of employees’ needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness. PL was associated with employees’ autonomous work motivations and amotivation via satisfaction of employees’ need for relatedness. Autonomous motivations were positively associated with affective commitment; whereas controlled motivations were positively related to normative commitment. Amotivation was negatively associated with all types of commitment. The findings are discussed in terms of theoretical and practical implications as well as suggestions for future research.
