Objectives: Cervical cancer prevention practices are desperately low in the Caribbean. This study aims to describe the cervical cancer stigma and to evaluate the influence of the prevention practices among the Caribbean non-patient population in Jamaica, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 1,207 participants was conducted using a culturally trans-created Cancer Stigma Scale for the Caribbean context and supplemented with questions on cervical cancer and HPV/HPV vaccine knowledge and beliefs. Data collection took place online from October 2022 to March 2023. Results: Participants are young, single, well-educated, and have stable financial resources. Over a quarter (26.4%) agreed women with cervical cancer are more isolated in their country. Almost half (47%) of respondents agreed cultural background plays a big part in how they feel about illness and getting well. One in six participants believe women with cervical cancer are treated with less respect than usual by others in their country. Conclusion: Cancer stigma of cervical cancer exists in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Grenada. Particularly, cultural background and social norms are closely linked to stigma. Introduction: This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the complications associated with prepectoral breast reconstruction (PBR) compared to subpectoral breast reconstruction (SBR) in patients diagnosed with breast cancer. Materials and methods: A comprehensive search was performed in four databases, including Medline, Embase, Web of Science and CENTRAL, to collect literature published up until December 31, 2024. In addition, we conducted a thorough manual examination of the bibliographies of the identified papers, as well as pertinent reviews and meta-analyses. We conducted a search on three clinical trial registries, namely ClinicalTrials.gov, Controlled-trials.com, and Umin.ac.jp/ctr/index.htm. Meta-analyses were conducted on total complications, hematoma, infection, wound healing issues, necrosis, capsular contracture, rippling, animation deformity, and reoperation. Results: A total of 40 studies were included in the meta-analysis. Compared with SBR, PBR significantly reduced the incidence of animated malformations (OR=0.37, 95% CI: 0.19 to 0.70, P=0.003, I ²=12%), but increased the incidence of ripples (OR=2.39, 95% CI: 1.53 to 3.72, P=0.0001, I ²=10%) and seroma (OR=1.55, 95% CI: 1.02 to 2.35, P=0.04, increasing I ²=70%). Conclusions: Our findings indicate that PBR and SBR have comparable safety profiles, with similar total complication rates. Introduction: This paper was to assess the diagnostic performance and clinical value of three-dimensional ultrasonography (3DUS), three-dimensional ultrasonography power Doppler (3DPD), and 3DUS combined with 3DPD in ovarian cancer (OC). Methods: The study was registered with PROSPERO (CRD 42023405765). PubMed and Web of Science were searched from inception to 25 January 2022, and reference lists of potentially eligible studies were also manually searched. Patient and study characteristics were extracted by two independent reviewers. Any discrepancies were addressed through discussion. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratio (PLR and NLR, respectively), and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) were pooled separately. Results: We retrieved 2,566 studies, of which 18 were finally enrolled, with 2,548 cases. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, PLR, NLR, and AUC for 3DUS were 0.89 (95% CI: 0.85-0.93), 0.93 (95% CI: 0.88-0.96), 13.1 (95% CI: 7.3-23.4), 0.11 (95% CI: 0.08-0.16), and 0.90 (95% CI: 0.87-0.93), respectively. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, PLR, NLR, and AUC for 3DPD were 0.90 (95% CI: 0.80-0.95), 0.85 (95% CI: 0.71-0.92), 5.8 (95% CI: 3.0-11.2), 0.12 (95% CI: 0.06-0.24), and 0.94 (95% CI: 0.91-0.96), respectively. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, PLR, NLR, and AUC for 3DUS combined with 3DPD were 0.99 (95% CI: 0.73-1.00), 0.95 (95% CI: 0.85-0.99), 21.9 (95% CI: 6.1-78.9), 0.01 (95% CI: 0.00-0.37), and 0.99 (95% CI: 0.98-1.00), respectively. Conclusions: 3DUS, 3DPD, and 3DUS combined with 3DPD are promising diagnostic tools for OC, alongside elevated sensitivity and specificity. Background: The newest clinical evidence that the relationship between the peritoneal cancer index (PCI) and the postoperative prognosis of advanced ovarian cancer patients remains controversial, and there are no large-sample and multicenter studies to clarify this matter. Therefore, in this paper, we used meta-analysis to systematically assess the postoperative prognostic value of PCI in subjects with advanced ovarian cancer to provide individualized treatment plans and thus improve the prognosis of patients. Methods: Literature on the correlation between PCI and the postoperative prognosis in subjects with advanced OC undergoing cytoreductive surgery (CRS) was searched in the Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Embase, and Web of Science from the database inception to April 20, 2023. The search was updated on February 28, 2024. We only included late-stage (FIGO stage: III-IV) patients who did not undergo neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) or hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Afterwards, literature screening and data extraction were conducted using Endnote20 software. The literature quality was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). Lastly, statistical analysis was performed with STATA 15.0 software. Results: Five studies with 774 patients were included. The result indicated that patients with high PCI had a worse prognosis than those with low PCI. The combined hazard ratio was 2.79 [95%CI: (2.04, 3.82), p<0.001] for overall survival (OS) in patients with high PCI. Further subgroup analysis by the FIGO staging revealed that in stage III [HR: 2.61, 95%CI: (2.00, 3.40), p<0.001] and stage III-IV patients [HR: 2.69, 95%CI: (1.66, 4.36), p<0.001], a high PCI score was significantly associated with a worse prognosis. The PCI score had a greater impact on the OS of patients with higher stages. The combined hazard ratio was 1.89 [95%CI: (1.51, 2.36), p<0.001] for progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with high PCI. Conclusion: PCI may be used as a postoperative prognosis indicator in patients with advanced OC on primary debulking surgery. High PCI indicates a worse prognosis. Colorectal cancer exhibits a notable prevalence and propensity for metastasis, but the current therapeutic interventions for metastatic colorectal cancer have yielded suboptimal results. ICIs can decrease tumor development by preventing the tumor’s immune evasion, presenting cancer patients with a new treatment alternative. The increased use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in CRC has brought several issues. In particular, ICIs have demonstrated significant clinical effectiveness in patients with MSI-H CRC, whereas their efficacy is limited in MSS. Acquired resistance can still occur in patients with a positive response to ICIs. This paper describes the efficacy of ICIs currently in the clinical treatment of CRC, discusses the mechanisms by which acquired resistance occurs, primarily related to loss and impaired presentation of tumor antigens, reduced response of IFN-l and cytokine or metabolic dysregulation, and summarizes the incidence of adverse effects. We posit that the future of ICIs hinges upon the advancement of precise prediction biomarkers and the implementation of combination therapies. This study aims to elucidate the constraints associated with ICIs in CRC and foster targeted problem-solving approaches, thereby enhancing the potential benefits for more patients. Digital pathology (DP) has become a part of the cancer healthcare system, creating additional value for cancer patients. DP implementation in clinical practice provides plenty of benefits but also harbors hidden ethical challenges affecting physician-patient relationships. This paper addresses the ethical obligation to transform the physician-patient relationship for informed and responsible decision-making when using artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools for cancer diagnostics. DP application allows to improve the performance of the Human-AI Team shifting focus from AI challenges towards the Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI) benefits. AHI enhances analytical sensitivity and empowers pathologists to deliver accurate diagnoses and assess predictive biomarkers for further personalized treatment of cancer patients. At the same time, patients' right to know about using AI tools, their accuracy, strengths and limitations, measures for privacy protection, acceptance of privacy concerns and legal protection defines the duty of physicians to provide the relevant information about AHI-based solutions to patients and the community for building transparency, understanding and trust, respecting patients' autonomy and empowering informed decision-making in oncology. Objective: To systematically evaluate and explore the factors influencing depressive symptoms in female breast cancer patients in China through meta-analysis. Methods: Relevant data were retrieved from cross-sectional studies or cohort studies on depressive symptoms of Chinese breast cancer within the following databases: PubMed, Embase, Cohrane Library, Web of 105 Science, Database of Medical Literature (CBM), Wan Fang Data, CNKI, and VIP databases. The literature screening, data extraction and literature quality evaluation were performed by two researchers by carefully reading the title, abstract and full text, and metaanalysis was performed using Stata 1.5 software after extracting relevant data. Results: Fourteen papers were finally included, with a cumulative total of 3,071 people surveyed, and a total of 1,298 breast cancer patients were detected with depression, with a detection rate of depressive symptoms of 42.26%; meta analysis showed that age less than 40 years old, unmarried, less than undergraduate education, monthly income <5,000 yuan, advanced breast cancer, radical breast cancer surgery, family history, living in rural areas, underlying disease stage and chemotherapy were associated with an increased incidence of depression in breast cancer patients. Conclusion: The detection rate of depressive symptoms in female breast cancer patients is high, and there is a need to strengthen depression-related psychological screening of breast cancer patients and provide them with individualized interventions to reduce the incidence of depression in breast cancer patients and to lower the level of depression already present in the patients. Envafolimab is a Chinese domestic innovative fusion of a humanized singledomain programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) antibody (dAb) and human immunoglobulin IgG1 crystalline fragment (Fc) developed for subcutaneous injections. It was granted conditional market authorization by the China National Medical Product Administration (NMPA) in December 2021. Envafolimab is used to treat adult patients with previously treated microsatellite instability--high (MSI-H) or deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) advanced solid tumors, including patients with advanced colorectal cancer disease progression who were previously administered fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan, as well as other patients with advanced solid tumors who experienced disease progression after receiving standard treatment and had no other alternative treatment options. However, the lack of post-marketing clinical trial data requires conducting more clinical studies on the safety and efficacy of envafolimab in order to provide scientific basis and a reference for future therapeutic applications. In this paper, we report a case of severe skin necrosis and bleeding in the area of injection after subcutaneous administration of envafolimab in a patient diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma. We discuss issues that must be considered before administration of a PD-L1 inhibitor subcutaneously, which could induce immune mechanisms leading to skin necrosis in the area of injection. Background: The prognostic value of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in breast cancer remains to be determined. Therefore, this paper aims to conduct a meta-analysis to assess the correlation between TLR4 and clinicopathological indicators as well as survival outcomes in breast cancer. Method: Related literature retrieved from Embase, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and China Wanfang. The search deadline is April 12, 2023. The outcome measures employed in the study comprised hazard ratio (HR), odds ratio (OR), and 95% confidence interval (CI) as effective indices. The data analysis was conducted using Stata 17.0 software. Results: High TLR4 expression was associated with lymph node metastasis (OR=2.077, 95%CI=1.160-3.717, P= 0.014), tumor size (≥2 cm) (OR=2.194, 95% CI= 1.398-3.445, P= 0.001), PR expression (OR = 0.700, 95% CI = 0.505--0.971, P= 0.033), and clinical stage (OR = 3.578, 95%CI= 3.578-5.817, P<0.05), but not with histological grade (95%CI= 0.976-1.735, P= 0.072), ER expression (OR = 1.125, 95% CI = 0.492--2.571,P= 0.781), and HER-2 status (OR = 1.241, 95% CI = 0.733--2.101, P = 0.422). In addition, TLR4 overexpression was an independent prognostic indicator of DFS (HR= 1.480, 95%CI= 1.028- 2.130, p= 0.035) in breast cancer patients, but not related to OS(HR=1.730, 95%CI= 0.979-3.057, P= 0.059). Conclusions: From our main analysis results, high TLR4 expression is associated with lymph node metastasis, larger tumor size (≥2 cm), later clinical stage, negative PR expression and shorter DFS, suggesting poor prognosis in breast cancer patients. Compared with the options available to human patients with cancer, treatment choices for dogs are often more limited. Chemotherapy is frequently the firstline treatment for many cancers. However, its efficacy can be limited, and its side effects can affect the quality of the remaining life. This paper briefly summarizes the experience with Viscum album L. (mistletoe) extract in human patients as a stipulation to consider treatment with mistletoe extract for canines with cancer. The mistletoe extract contains -among others - lectins and viscotoxins that have documented anti-proliferative effect on cancer cells as well as immunestimulatory function. Importantly, it also improves the well-being of patients with cancer due to its lectin ML-1 content, which can trigger the release of endorphins. Being cross-reactive with canine cells and having a relatively low side effect profile, it raises the question of whether mistletoe preparations might be considered as part of the treatment approach for dogs with cancer. Objective: To assess the effectiveness and clinical value of case-cohort design and determine prognostic factors of breast cancer patients in Xinjiang on the basis of case-cohort design. Methods: The survival data with different sample characteristics were simulated by using Cox proportional risk models. To evaluate the effectiveness for the case-cohort, entire cohort, and simple random sampling design by comparing the mean, coefficient of variation, etc., of covariate parameters. Furthermore, the prognostic factors of breast cancer patients in Xinjiang were determined based on case-cohort sampling designs. The models were comprehensively evaluated by likelihood ratio test, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), and Akaike Information Criterion (AIC). Results: In a simulations study, the case-cohort design shows better stability and improves the estimation efficiency when the censored rate is high. In the breast cancer data, molecular subtypes, T-stage, N-stage, M-stage, types of surgery, and postoperative chemotherapy were identified as the prognostic factors of patients in Xinjiang. These models based on the different sampling designs both passed the likelihood ratio test (p<0.05). Moreover, the model constructed under the case-cohort design had better fitting effect (AIC=3,999.96) and better discrimination (AUC=0.807). Conclusion: Simulations study confirmed the effectiveness of case-cohort design and further determined the prognostic factors of breast cancer patients in Xinjiang based on this design, which presented the practicality of case-cohort design in actual data. Introduction: The purpose of this study was to assess whether varying input communication factors impacted participants' perceived confidence, motivation, and likelihood to act (i.e., share or discuss their preferences and values with their clinician or family/caregiver) when receiving tailored communication from a values-clarification tool. Methods: This study was conducted over a two-month period at the North Carolina Basnight Cancer Hospital. Patients with hematologic malignancies participated in evaluating three distinct messages that varied on three input communication factors. Results: Results from this study indicate that most study participants preferred messages that were moderately direct, contained succinct question prompts, and that were empowering. Results also indicate that diverse perspectives and external influences may impact confidence and motivation toward discussing preferences with their clinicians. Discussion: Our findings suggest the importance of validating the input communication factors within values-clarification tools before presenting results to patients and the need to evaluate potential disparities in patients' participation toward discussing their preferences. This cross-sectional study conducted in Romania examines the increasing role of online pharmacies in providing Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) to cancer patients. Key findings indicate patient satisfaction with ease of access, significant challenges related to costs, and the critical role of healthcare professionals in guiding FSMP selection. Introduction. As cancer treatments advance, the demand for supportive nutritional care becomes increasingly critical, with FSMPs playing a vital role in patient recovery and quality of life. Methods. Employing a cross-sectional study design, we surveyed cancer patients from Romania to assess their experiences purchasing FSMPs through traditional and online pharmacies. We analyzed the factors influencing their choices, the perceived benefits and challenges of online access, and the role of healthcare professional guidance in their decision-making process. Results. The study reveals that while patients appreciate the ease of access and the broad spectrum of available FSMPs online, they grapple with the financial burden and the need for reliable information to make informed decisions. Through a cross-sectional analysis, we found that the expertise and recommendations of healthcare professionals remain integral to the FSMP selection process, suggesting that digital solutions should enhance, not replace, traditional healthcare interactions. Moreover, our findings highlight a crucial gap in the taste and variety of FSMPs, suggesting that patient adherence could be improved through product innovation. The study found a significant association between the type of medical unit where patients followed their treatment (state-owned clinic) and whether they received recommendations from a specialist oncologist for using FSMPs. Nutritionists' recommendations were also significantly associated with a higher likelihood of purchasing FSMPs online. Discussions. The study reveals that despite the benefits of digital access, a crucial need exists for regulatory measures and professional oversight to ensure the safe and informed use of FSMPs. Background: Quality-of-life (QOL) is important for cancer patients with poor prognosis. However, conducting a QOL survey with patients is difficult. Therefore, we conducted a QOL survey with physicians. Specifically, this study aimed to clarify how physicians assess QOL in patients with pancreatic cancer by conducting a survey and comparing the results between physicians and the general public. Methods: A survey was conducted by interviewing physicians administering chemotherapy to patients for recurrent/metastatic pancreatic cancer. This method is similar to that of the QOL survey conducted among the general public. Responses were evaluated using the composite time trade-off (cTTO) and the visual analog scale (VAS) for 11 pancreatic cancer status scenarios (survey scenarios). These scenarios consisted of patients’ health states as well as the types and grades of adverse events (AEs). Health status was classified into two categories: Stable disease (SD) and Progressive disease (PD). In addition, we conducted a survey using the EuroQol 5 Dimensions 5-Level (EQ-5D-5l) as reference values. Results: Twenty physicians responded to the survey. SD had the highest mean QOL value for both assessment methods (Physicians: 0.78, General public: 0.63), whereas PD had the lowest mean QOL value (Physicians: 0.15, General public: −0.12). The physicians assigned higher QOL values on both the VAS and cTTO than the general public did in all survey scenarios. Conclusions: The QOL values obtained from physicians were consistent with the degree of status in any assessment scenarios. Based on the differences in the QOL survey results between physicians and the general public, physicians tended to assign higher QOL values than the general public in cTTO and VAS assessments. Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) represent a groundbreaking approach to cancer therapy. Inflammatory markers such as the neutrophil-tolymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and lymphocyte-tomonocyte ratio (LMR) have emerged as potential indicators strongly associated with tumor prognosis, albeit their prognostic significance remains contentious. The predictive value of NLR, PLR, LMRin patients with gastric cancer (GC) treated with ICIs has not been fully explored; therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to examine the potential of inflammatory markers NLR, PLR, and LMR as survival predictors in this population. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted across PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases, with the search cut-off date set as March 2024. Hazard ratios (HR) and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated to assess the prognostic significance of NLR, PLR, and LMR for both progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: Fifteen cohort studies involving 1336 gastric cancer patients were finally included in thismeta-analysis. The results of themeta-analysis showed that high levels of NLR were associated with poorer OS and PFS in GC patients receiving ICIs, with combined HRs of OS [HR=2.01, 95%CI (1.72,2.34), P<0.01], and PFS PFS[HR=1.59, 95% CI (1.37,1.86), P<0.01], respectively; high levels of PLR were associated with poorer OS and PFS, and the combined HR was OS [HR=1.57, 95%CI (1.25,1.96), P<0.01], PFS [HR=1.52,95%CI (1.20, 1.94), P<0.01], respectively; and there was an association between elevated LMR and prolonged OS and PFS, and the combined HR was OS [HR=0.62, 95%CI (0.47,0.81), P<0.01], and PFS [HR=0.69, 95%CI (0.50,0.95), P<0.01]. Conclusion: In gastric cancer (GC) patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), elevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-tolymphocyte ratio (PLR) were associated with poorer overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), while high lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) was linked to improved OS and PFS. Subgroup analyses suggested that NLR might be particularly pertinent to the prognosis of GC patients. In conclusion, the inflammatory markers NLR, PLR, and LMR serve as effective biomarkers for prognostic assessment in GC patients, offering valuable insights for therapeutic decision-making in the realm of GC immunotherapy. Propose: This study aimed to propose an innovative, open, and circular program that combines acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness practices. We assessed its feasibility, acceptability, and first signs of its effect on psychological wellbeing in cancer support treatment. Methods: A single-center, single-arm, uncontrolled study was performed. Forty adult patients with non-metastatic prostate or breast cancer, newly diagnosed or undergoing treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy), were recruited. Three cycles of three MAEva program sessions (MAEva: Mindfulness meditation, Acceptance, and Commitment to values program) over nine consecutive weeks were proposed. During the total of 12 weeks of follow-up, after attending the first session, patients were free to attend subsequent sessions. Results: Adherence to the study was high, with participation in an average of 6.8 out of nine sessions. A total of eight patients attended all sessions over the three cycles, and 90% participated in at least one cycle. Furthermore, attendance was associated with a statistically significant improvement in Quality of Life (QoL). Each additional session was associated with a mean increase in overall QoL score of more than one point (β = 1.09 [0.13; 2.04], p = 0.02). The fatigue dimensions decreased with session attendance: physical (β = -2.24 [-3.63; -0.85]), emotional (β =-2.60 [-4.11;-1.09]), and interference with daily life (β = -2.33 [-3.95;-0.72]). The qualitative section demonstrated that patients learned skills and shared their ability to "let go". Patients rated the degree of importance of the program at 8.36/10 (SD ± 1.64). Conclusion: This study highlights the feasibility and acceptability of an original program that combines ACT and mindfulness practices in cancer patients. Introduction: Currently, the problem of cancer has been increasing around the world, predominantly in middle- and low-income countries. Anemia, a major and often overwhelming health burden for cancer patients, significantly distorts their quality of life. It is well-established that the length of treatment increases the frequency of anemia, with hematological malignancies experiencing nearly double the rate compared to solid tumors. Despite this established knowledge, data on the prevalence of anemia among cancer patients in Ethiopia remains scarce, according to the investigators. Objective: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of baseline anemia and associated factors among adult cancer patients at Northwest Amhara Comprehensive Specialized Hospitals, oncology treatment units, Northwest Ethiopia, in 2021. Methods: This study employed an institutional-based cross-sectional design and was conducted in Northwest Amhara Comprehensive Specialized Hospitals. A systematic random sampling technique was used to select 315 participants. The data were collected using interviewer-administered questionnaires and chart reviews of existing medical records using a structured and pretested questionnaire format. The data were entered into Epi. Data version 4.6 and analyzed using Stata version 14.0. Bivariable and multivariable logistic regression were carried out to identify factors associated with anemia. Adjusted odds ratios with a 95% confidence interval and variables with a p-value of < 0.05 were considered significantly associated with anemia. Results: The prevalence of baseline anemia among adult patients with cancer was found to be 34.84%. Being a woman (AOR = 1.97; 95% CI: 1.00-3.87), being underweight (AOR = 1.96; 95% CI: 1.09-3.52), and having stage III cancer (AOR = 2.35; 95% CI: 1.12-3.01) were significantly associated with anemia. Conclusion: The prevalence of baseline anemia among adult cancer patients was significant. Women, cancer patients with an underweight body mass index, and those diagnosed with clinical-stage III cancer were more likely to have baseline anemia. For health policymakers and healthcare providers, it is better to give special attention to female patients, patients who are underweight, and patients with advanced-stage cancer to reduce the risk of developing the outcome. MET exon 14 (METex14) skipping is the most reported MET mutation in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and has been confirmed to respond to MET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) in clinical trials. While MET TKI tepotinib was recently approved for METex14 skipping NSCLC in China, real-world evidence is limited. We report our experience treating NSCLC patients referred from oncology sites across China with tepotinib in the Boao Lecheng Pilot Zone. Four patients have been prescribed the drug with a median age of 67 years (range, 61-71 years). One patient has concomitant BRAF V600E mutation, and another patient had savolitinib as first line of therapy but discontinued due to hepatotoxicity. Till the end of follow-up, four patients were all on tepotinib therapy, with a median duration of therapy of 19 months. One patient achieved partial response and three achieved stable disease. Three patients had peripheral edema, but all were mild. Our experience showed in real clinical setting, tepotinib had robust and durable clinical activity and a favorable toxicity profile in Chinese patients with METex14 skipping NSCLC. It is the first report on the effectiveness of tepotinib in a patient with both METex14 skipping and BRAF V600E mutations and successful MET inhibitor switch after MET inhibitor-induced liver injury. Introduction: Checkpoint inhibitors (CPI) are widely used in cancer treatment with a potential of causing immune-related adverse events (IRAEs). Several studies have reported a positive correlation between development of IRAEs and improved survival outcome. However, few studies have focused on the potential role of multiple IRAEs on treatment effectiveness. This study aimed at investigating the association between multiple IRAEs and treatment effectiveness in terms of progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in advanced cancer patients. Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study at three Swedish centers. All patients (n=600) treated with PD-L1 or PD-1 inhibitor, in monotherapy or in combination for advanced cancer between January 2017 and December 2021 were included. Multiple IRAEs were defined as IRAEs involving more than one organ system either simultaneously or sequentially. Time-depending Cox-regression model to mitigate the risk for immortal time bias (ITB) was applied. Results: The major tumor types were non-small cell lung cancer (205 patients; 34.2%) and malignant melanoma (196 patients; 32.7%). Of all patients,32.8% developed single IRAE and 16.2% multiple IRAEs. Patients with multiple IRAEs showed significantly improved PFS (Hazard Ratio, HR=0.78 95% Confidence Interval, CI: 0.57–0.98) and OS (HR=0.65 95% CI: 0.44–0.95) compared to patients with single IRAE or no IRAE (HR=0.46 95% CI:0.34–0.62 for PFS vs HR=0.41 95% CI: 0.28-0.60 for OS). Conclusion: In conclusion, our data supports a stronger association between development of multiple as opposed to single IRAEs and clinical effectiveness in advanced cancer patients treated with CPIs. CritCom is a bilingual (English and Spanish) tool to evaluate the quality of interdisciplinary communication around patient deterioration for pediatric oncology patients. The use of reports, such as the CritCom report, as dissemination methods lead to quicker knowledge translation and implementation of research findings into policy. Nurses and physicians at participating centers who care for patients at risk of deterioration completed the CritCom survey and center-specific reports were generated to communicate CritCom results. Focus groups were conducted with clinicians receiving CritCom reports in both English and Spanish to evaluate report clarity and usability. Participants found the reports to be useful and described the writing and design as clear and specific. Participants provided feedback to improve report design and requested actionable steps to improve communication at their center. Feedback illustrated that the report was easy to interpret and a useful way to disseminate information. Participants noted the utility of the report, illustrating that the use of reports can be a useful method to disseminate research findings back to participants in a way that is applicable to the local context. Background: The Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) has become an important predictive tool for assessing patients' nutritional status and immune competence. It is widely used in prognostic evaluations for various cancer patients. However, the prognostic relevance of the Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) in gastric or gastro-esophageal junction cancer patients (GC/GEJC) undergoing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) treatment remains unclear. This meta-analysis aimed to determine the prognostic impact of PNI in this specific patient cohort. Methods: We conducted a thorough literature search, covering prominent databases such as PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, SpringerLink, and the Cochrane Library. The search spanned from the inception of these databases up to December 5, 2023. Employing the 95% confidence interval and Hazard Ratio (HR), the study systematically evaluated the relationship between PNI and key prognostic indicators, including the objective remission rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in GC/GEJC patients undergoing ICI treatment. Results: Eight studies comprising 813 eligible patients were selected. With 7 studies consistently demonstrating superior Overall Survival (OS) in the high- Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) group compared to their low-PNI counterparts (HR 0.58, 95% CI: 0.47-0.71, P<0.001). Furthermore, the results derived from 6 studies pointed out that the significant correlation between he low-PNI and poorer progression-free survival (PFS) (HR 0.58, 95% CI: 0.47-0.71, P<0.001). Subgroup analyses were performed to validate the robustness of the results. In addition, we conducted a meta-analysis of three studies examining the correlation between PNI and objective response rate/disease control rate (ORR/DCR) and found that the ORR/DCR was significantly superior in the high PNI group (ORR: RR: 1.24, P=0.002; DCR: RR: 1.43, P=0.008). Conclusion: This meta-analysis indicates that the low-PNI in GC/GEJC patients undergoing ICI treatment is significantly linked to worse OS and PFS. Background: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neurotoxicity (CIPN) is a doselimiting side effect observed in breast cancer patients. Its primary clinical manifestations include limb numbness, tingling sensations, hypoesthesia, or paresthesia. In severe instances, some patients may also encounter muscle cramps, weakness, and pain, leading to potential paralysis. The onset of CIPN significantly impacts the quality of life for cancer patients. Hence, it is imperative to explore preventive strategies for managing CIPN. Methods: We searched for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and nonrandomized controlled trials (non-RCTs) in several databases. The primary outcome measures encompassed the Patient Neurotoxicity Questionnaire (PNQ), the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Taxane (FACT-Taxane), and the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (NCI-CTCAE). Secondary outcomes aimed to evaluate the quality of life and the tolerability of ice gloves. Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3 software to determine the relative risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: We conducted an analysis involving 372 patients across seven trials. In our meta-analysis, the use of ice gloves demonstrated non-significant results in reducing the incidence of both motor and sensory neuropathy, as assessed through CTCAE (sensory: RR: 0.94; 95% CI: 0.85 to 1.02; P = 0.15; motor: RR: 1.04; 95% CI: 0.88 to 1.22; P = 0.64). Similarly, when evaluated using the PNQ, there was no significant reduction observed in the incidence of sensory and motor neuropathy (sensory: RR: 0.49; 95% CI: 0.20 to 1.20; P = 0.12; motor: RR: 0.71; 95% CI: 0.26 to 1.99; P = 0.52). Consistently, our conclusions remained unchanged when employing the FACT-Taxane assessment. Regarding the evaluation of the quality of life, our observations suggested a potential improvement with the use of ice gloves, and participants exhibited moderate tolerance towards them.Conclusion: Ice gloves are a reasonable option for the treatment of CIPN in patients undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is frequently diagnosed in advanced stages, necessitating pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) as a primary therapeutic approach. However, PD surgery can engender intricate complications. Thus, understanding the factors influencing postoperative complications documented in electronic medical records and their impact on survival rates is crucial for improving overall patient outcomes. Methods: A total of 749 patients were divided into two groups: 598 (79.84%) chose the RPD (Robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy) procedure and 151 (20.16%) chose the LPD (Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy) procedure. We used correlation analysis, survival analysis, and decision tree models to find the similarities and differences about postoperative complications and prognostic survival. Results: Pancreatic cancer, known for its aggressiveness, often requires pancreaticoduodenectomy as an effective treatment. In predictive models, both BMI and surgery duration weigh heavily. Lower BMI correlates with longer survival, while patients with heart disease and diabetes have lower survival rates. Complications like delayed gastric emptying, pancreatic fistula, and infection are closely linked post-surgery, prompting conjectures about their causal mechanisms. Interestingly, we found no significant correlation between nasogastric tube removal timing and delayed gastric emptying, suggesting its prompt removal post-decompression. Conclusion: This study aimed to explore predictive factors for postoperative complications and survival in PD patients. Effective predictive models enable early identification of high-risk individuals, allowing timely interventions. Higher BMI, heart disease, or diabetes significantly reduce survival rates in pancreatic cancer patients post-PD. Additionally, there's no significant correlation between DGE incidence and postoperative extubation time, necessitating further investigation into its interaction with pancreatic fistula and infection. Introduction: The optimal strategy for differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients treated with radioiodine (RAI) following thyroidectomy remains controversial. Multi-centre clinical studies are essential to identify strategies to improve patient outcomes while minimising treatment-induced toxicity. Materials and Methods: The INSPIRE clinical trial (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04391244) aims to investigate patient-specific dosimetry for DTC patients and to determine the range of absorbed doses delivered to target and nontarget tissues and their relationship with treatment outcome and toxicity. Results: We report here initial results of the first 30 patients enrolled onto the INSPIRE trial. A large range of absorbed doses are observed for both thyroid remnants and salivary glands, with median values of 4.8 Gy (Range 0.2 - 242 Gy) and 0.3 Gy (Range 0.1 to 1.7 Gy), respectively. Discussion: The preliminary study results are encouraging and could help to improve our understanding of absorbed doses to thyroid remnants and normal organs following RAI therapy. Background: The relationship between gut microbiota and breast cancer has been extensively studied; however, changes in gut microbiota after breast cancer surgery are still largely unknown. Materials and methods: A total of 20 patients with breast cancer underwent routine open surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College from 1 June 2022 to 1 December 2022. Stool samples were collected from the patients undergoing mastectomy for breast cancer preoperatively, 3  days later, and 7  days later postoperatively. The stool samples were subjected to 16s rRNA sequencing. Results: Surgery did not affect the α-diversity of gut microbiota. The β-diversity and composition of gut microorganisms were significantly affected by surgery in breast cancer patients. Both linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) analysis and between-group differences analysis showed that surgery led to a decrease in the abundance of Firmicutes and Lachnospiraceae and an increase in the abundance of Proteobacteria and Enterobacteriaceae. Moreover, 127 differential metabolites were screened and classified into 5 categories based on their changing trends. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis showed significant changes in the phenylalanine metabolic pathway and exogenous substance metabolic pathway. Eight characterized metabolites were screened using ROC analysis. Conclusion: Our study found that breast cancer surgery significantly altered gut microbiota composition and metabolites, with a decrease in beneficial bacteria and an increase in potentially harmful bacteria. Background: Esophageal cancer (EC) is a major cause of cancer-related mortality in Taiwan and globally. Patients with EC are highly prone to malnutrition, which adversely affects their prognosis. While Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) is commonly used alongside conventional anti-cancer treatments, its long-term impact on EC patients with malnutrition remains unclear. Methods: This study utilized a multi-center cohort from the Chang Gung Research Database, focusing on the long-term outcomes of CHM in EC patients with malnutrition between 1 January 2001, and 31 December 2018. Patients were monitored for up to 5 years or until death. Overall survival (OS) rates were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Overlap weighting and landmark analysis were employed to address confounding and immortal time biases. Additionally, the study analyzed prescription data using a CHM network to identify key CHMs for EC with malnutrition, and potential molecular pathways were investigated using the Reactome database. Results: EC patients with malnutrition who used CHM had a higher 5-year OS compared with nonusers (22.5% vs. 9% without overlap weighting; 24.3% vs. 13.3% with overlap weighting; log-rank test: p = 0.006 and 0.016, respectively). The median OS of CHM users was significantly longer than that of nonusers (19.8 vs. 12.9 months, respectively). Hazard ratio (HR) analysis showed a 31% reduction in all-cause mortality risk for CHM users compared with nonusers (HR: 0.69, 95% confidence interval: 0.50-0.94, p = 0.019). We also examined 665 prescriptions involving 306 CHM, with Hedyotis diffusa Willd. exhibiting the highest frequency of use. A CHM network was created to determine the primary CHMs and their combinations. The identified CHMs were associated with the regulation of immune and metabolic pathways, particularly in areas related to immune modulation, anti-cancer cachexia, promotion of digestion, and antitumor activity. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest a correlation between CHM use and improved clinical outcomes in EC patients with malnutrition. The analysis identified core CHMs and combinations of formulations that play a crucial role in immunomodulation and metabolic regulation. Background: Acute hematologic toxicity (HT) is a prevalent adverse tissue reaction observed in cervical cancer patients undergoing chemoradiotherapy (CRT), which may lead to various negative effects such as compromised therapeutic efficacy and prolonged treatment duration. Accurate prediction of HT occurrence prior to CRT remains challenging. Methods: A discovery dataset comprising 478 continuous cervical cancer patients (140 HT patients) and a validation dataset consisting of 205 patients (52 HT patients) were retrospectively enrolled. Both datasets were categorized into the CRT group and radiotherapy (RT)-alone group based on the treatment regimen, i.e., whether chemotherapy was administeredwithin the focused RT duration. Radiomics features were derived by contouring three regions of interest (ROIs)--bone marrow (BM), femoral head (FH), and clinical target volume (CTV)--on the treatment planning CT images before RT. A comprehensivemodel combining the radiomics features aswell as the demographic, clinical, and dosimetric features was constructed to classify patients exhibiting acute HT symptoms in the CRT group, RT group, and combination group. Furthermore, the time-to-event analysis of the discriminative ROI was performed on all patients with acute HT to understand the HT temporal progression. Results: Among three ROIs, BM exhibited the best performance in classifying acute HT, which was verified across all patient groups in both discovery and validation datasets. Among different patient groups in the discovery dataset, acute HT was more precisely predicted in the CRT group [area under the curve (AUC) = 0.779, 95% CI: 0.657-0.874] than that in the RT-alone (AUC = 0.686, 95% CI: 0.529-0.817) or combination group (AUC = 0.748, 95% CI: 0.655-0.827). The predictive results in the validation dataset similarly coincided with those in the discovery dataset: CRT group (AUC = 0.802, 95% CI: 0.669-0.914), RT-alone group (AUC = 0.737, 95% CI: 0.612-0.862), and combination group (AUC = 0.793, 95% CI: 0.713-0.874). In addition, distinct feature sets were adopted for different patient groups. Moreover, the predicted HT risk of BM was also indicative of the HT temporal progression. Conclusions: HT prediction in cervical patients is dependent on both the treatment regimen and ROI selection, and BM is closely related to the occurrence and progression of HT, especially for CRT patients. Introduction: Over the past years, there has been a growing interest in the role of immunotherapy in locally advanced (LA) and recurrent and metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (R/M HNSCC). High-quality data from prospective trials are lacking for the elderly subpopulation. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to review the efficacy and safety of immunotherapy in older patients. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted. Randomized clinical trials providing outcome data on a subgroup of elderly (>65 years old) were available for meta-analysis. Primary outcomes of interest were OS and PFS for efficacy analysis. Results: Seven studies were included in the systematic review and four in the efficacy analysis. The pooled analysis of OS and PFS showed a consistent benefit (HR 0.78 and 0.91, respectively). Background: Despite remarkable progress, cancer remains a life-threatening disease for millions of people worldwide, also resulting in significant psychosocial limitations. High-quality, comprehensive cancer care requires patient and family involvement and the provision of needs-based, targeted psychosocial services. Although progress has been made in understanding the occurrence of mental comorbidity and psychosocial distress in cancer patients, comparatively little is known about the course of psychological comorbidity and psychosocial distress in early survivorship among patients and their families. We therefore aim to estimate the prevalence of mental disorders according to the DSM-5, psychosocial distress, perceived needs for psychosocial support and utilization of psychosocial support offers in newly diagnosed cancer patients and their relatives, taking into account potential contributing biopsychosocial factors for the occurrence of psychological comorbidity. Methods/design: This study follows a prospective multi-center observational cohort design across four measurement time points: within 2 months after cancer diagnosis (t1), and in the follow-up period at 6 months (t2), at 12 months (t3), and at 18 months (t4) after t1. Patients older than 18 years who have a confirmed initial diagnosis of a malignant solid tumor and are scheduled for cancer treatment at one of the participating cancer centers are eligible for study participation. Relatives of eligible patients are also eligible for study participation if they are older than 18 years. Patients are interviewed using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 Disorders (SCID-5-CV). In addition, patients and relatives receive a set of validated questionnaires at each measurement time point, covering comorbid conditions and functional performance, perceived psychological distress and quality of life, partnership aspects and social relationships, supportive care needs and use of psychosocial support services, health literacy, and health behavior and meaning in life. Discussion: This prospective multi-center observational cohort study has a major focus on increasing quality of care and quality of life in cancer survivors through providing rigorous longitudinal data for the development and implementation of target group-specific psychosocial support services. Objectives: Representativeness in physical activity randomised controlled trials (RCT) in breast cancer patients is essential to analyses of feasibility and validity considering privilegedsocial groups. A step-by-step exclusion of less privileged groups through the trial process could reinforce health inequality. This study aimed at examining representativeness in breast cancer (BC) physical activity trials, investigate associations between socio-economic status (SES) and intervention adherence, and explore associations between representativeness and the relationship between SES and intervention adherence. Methods: Systematic, computerised searches were performed in PubMed, CINAHL, AMED, EMBASE and PsycINFO. Additional citation-based searches retrieved 37 articles. Distributions of education level, ethnicity, and marital status in study samples were compared to national populations data to estimate representativeness in less privileged groups. Results: A preponderance of studies favoured educated, married andwhite patients. Only six studies reported SES-adherence associations, hampering conclusions on this relationship and possible associations between representativeness and an SES-adherence relationship. Conclusion: Less educated, unmarried and non-white individuals may be underrepresented in BC physical activity RCTs, while SES-adherence associations in such trials are inconclusive. Background: Spiritual well-being has been shown to boost resistance to mental health crises in cancer patients during the diagnosis and treatment process, but there is a paucity of studies about spirituality in cancer patients, which may make it difficult for healthcare clinicians to assess spirituality and provide spiritual care. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the level of spiritual well-being and associated factors among cancer patients in HUCSH Oncology Center in 2022. Methods and materials: An institution-based cross-sectional study was done from May 30 to June 30, 2022 among 267 cancer patients, and the respondents were selected by a simple random sampling technique. Data was collected by using standardized interviewer-administered questionnaires (FACIT sp12). Data was entered using Epi data version 4.6, and analysis was carried out by using Statistical Package for Social Science version 25. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression was conducted to determine the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The strength of association was tested by using p-value at 95% CI. Ethical clearance was obtained from the Institutional Review Board of Hawassa University College of Medicine and Health Science. During data collection, the purpose of the study was clearly explained to the patients, and consent was obtained. Result: A total of 267 cancer patients were included in the study. There was 100% response rate. Majority of the patients (80.5%) were in a poor spiritual well-being state. Mental distress (AOR = 0.246; 95% CI: 0.114–0.531) and religious education (AOR = 1.288; 95% CI: 1.438–9.142) were factors significantly associated with spiritual well-being among cancer patients. Conclusion and recommendation: This study showed that more than twothirds of patients had poor spiritual well-being. Mental distress and religious education were factors associated with spiritual well-being. Objective: To explore the clinical effect of bladder cancer patients with Fear of Cancer Recurrence (FCR) after applying the gratitude extension construction theory nursing program. Methods: 168 patients with bladder cancer hospitalized in the Department of Urology from December 2021 to June 2023 in a hospital are study subjects. The experimental subjects are uniformly designed as an experimental group and a control group, with 52 participants in each group. The former receives routine nursing care, while the later receives nursing interventions based on gratitude extension construction theory. The baseline data, Quality of life Questionnairecore 30, Quality of Life Questionnaire-non Invasive Bladder Cancer 24, Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form, gratitude level questionnaire, Self-Rating Depression Scale, Self-rating Anxiety Scale, patient compliance behavior score, Overall Survival, and Progression-free Survival are evaluated. Results: The basic data revealed no statistical significance. The quality of life questionnaire-core 30 and quality of life questionnaire-noninvasive bladder cancer 24 was no significant difference before treatment and after treatment for 1 month. After 9 months, There was a significant difference in pre-treatment scores. The experimental group had no significant difference before and after treatment. For the overall survival rates, the two groups were 67.25% and 79.56%. The progression-free survival rates were 56.35% and 72.35%, respectively, with statistical difference. The compliance rates were 86.54% and 98.08%. The compliance rate of the experimental group exceeded the control group. After 3, 6, and 12 months, the gratitude level questionnaire score and the fear of progression questionnaire-short form in the experimental group were improved. After 3, 6, and 12 months, the control group had no statistically significant difference in the gratitude level questionnaire and the fear of progression questionnaire-short form scores. Compared with the control group, the scores on the gratitude level questionnaire and the fear of progression questionnaireshort form were significantly higher after 3, 6, and 12 months of intervention. Conclusion: After applying the gratitude extension construction theory nursing program, the FCR of bladder cancer patients is significantly reduced. Objectives: In this study, we compared the dynamic changes in body composition during XELOX/SOX chemotherapy in patients with gastric cancer. Furthermore, we investigated the potential impact of these changes on the occurrence of toxic side effects. Methods: Patients with gastric cancer who received adjuvant or first-line XELOX/ SOX chemotherapy between January 2020 and June 2023 were enrolled. The Brief Conghua Scale was used to assess energy intake, and nutritional management was carried out with reference to the Chinese Guidelines for Nutritional Therapy of Cancer 2020. The NRS 2002 Nutritional Risk Screening Scale, PG-SGA scale, bioelectrical impedance analysis, and dynamic changes in lumbar 3 vertebral skeletal muscle index were compared between baseline and post-chemotherapy in the study. The neutropenia was evaluated using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events V.5.0, developed by the National Institutes of Health. Results: Dynamic follow-up was completed in 39 cases, with a mean follow-up time of 117.62 ± 43.38 days. The incidence of sarcopenia increased significantly after chemotherapy, escalating from 46.2% to 51.3%. After chemotherapy, the mean L3SMI decreased from 36.00 cm²/m² to 34.99 cm²/m². Furthermore, when compared to pre-chemotherapy values, the body composition indexes body mass index (BMI), SL3, fat mass free index (FFMI), lean body mass (LBM), and body surface area (BSA) were significantly reduced after chemotherapy. Regardless of baseline or post-chemotherapy status, the incidence of grade ≥ 3 neutropenia was significantly higher in the sarcopenia group than in the nonsarcopenia group. Furthermore, when the skeletal muscle index decreased during chemotherapy, the incidence of grade ≥ 3 neutropenia was significantly higher in both the sarcopenia and non-sarcopenia groups compared to baseline. When the incidence of grade ≥ 3 neutropenia in the post-chemotherapy sarcopenia group was compared to baseline status, the increase was significantly higher in the sarcopenia group than in the maintenance/ increase group. Introduction: The research on cancer patients returning to work in China is still in its infancy, and there is no research and discussion on the adaptability to returnto-work for cancer patients. It is critical to develop the Adaptability to Return-to-Work Scale (ARTWS) for cancer patients and evaluate its psychometric properties. Methods: The items of the initial scale were compiled based on the theoretical model and literature review results. Through two rounds of Delphi expert consultation (N = 15) and a pilot survey (N = 40), the initial scale was further checked and revised. Conduct a large sample survey (N = 376) and the construct validity and reliability of the ARTWS were assessed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Results: The final ARTWS consisted of 24 items. “Focusing on rehabilitation,” “Rebuilding Self-efficiency,” and “Adjusting plans” as common factors in determining adaptability to return to work for cancer patients, and the cumulative variance contribution rate for these three factors was 66.6%. The S-CVI of the total scale was 0.979. The Cronbach’s α coefficient was 0.937 and the 2-week test–retest reliability was 0.814. Discussion: ARTWS has good correlation validity and can be used as a tool to measure the adaptability of cancer patients’ return to work. Introduction: Malnutrition is prevalent among individuals with gastric cancer and notably decreases their quality of life (QOL). However, the factors impacting QOL are yet to be clearly defined. This study aimed to identify essential factors impacting QOL in malnourished patients suffering from gastric cancer. Methods: By using the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) to assess the nutritional status (>4 defined malnutrition) of hospitalized cancer patients, 4,586 gastric cancer patients were ultimately defined as malnourished. Spearman method was used to calculate the relationship between clinical features and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30). Then, univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to observe which factors affected QOL, and subgroup analysis was performed in young and old population respectively. In addition, we used univariate and multivariate logistic regression to explore whether and how self-reported frequent symptoms in the last 2 weeks of the PG-SGA score affected QOL. Results: In multivariate logistic regression analysis of clinical features of patients with malnourished gastric cancer, women, stage II, stage IV, WL had an independent correlation with a low global QOL scores. However, BMI, secondary education, higher education, surgery, chemotherapy, HGS had an independent correlation with a high global QOL scores. In multivariate logistic regression analysis of symptoms in self-reported PG-SGA scores in patients with malnourished gastric cancer, having no problem eating had an independent correlation with a high global QOL scores. However, they have no appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation and pain had an independent correlation with a lower global QOL scores. The p values of the above statistical results are both < 0.05. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that QOL in malnourished patients with gastric cancer is determined by female sex, stage II, stage IV, BMI, secondary and higher education or above, surgery, chemotherapy, WL, and HGS. Patients' self-reported symptoms of nearly 2 weeks, obtained by using PG-SGA, are also further predictive of malnourished gastric cancer patients. Aim: This review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of cancer prehabilitation programs delivered through technological enablers compared to conventional face-to-face interventions. Methods: A systematic review was conducted, searching PubMed, Embase, and CINAHL for studies published from inception to February 6, 2024. Studies were included if they involved adult cancer patients in primary research, utilized technology for prehabilitation, and assessed functional, psychological, and quality of life outcomes. Results: Sixteen studies were included, encompassing wearables, apps, teleprehabilitation, and virtual reality. All studies reported feasibility, but challenges included technical issues, lack of supervision, and non-compliance. Effectiveness depended on intervention rigor and technology type. Wearables offered objective monitoring but faced compliance issues. Videoconferencing provided supervision and could mitigate compliance concerns. Multimodal programs and intervention-specific outcome measures were recommended. Conclusion: Technology-based prehabilitation programs seem feasible, but effectiveness depends on intervention design and technology employed. Introduction: The use of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) has been shown to enhance the accuracy of symptom collection and improve overall survival and quality of life. This is the first study comparing concordance and patient preference for two PRO tools: Patient-Reported Outcomes version of the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (PRO-CTCAE®) and the adapted-REQUITE Lung Questionnaire. Materials and Methods: Patients with lung cancer were recruited to the study while attending outpatient clinics at a tertiary cancer centre. Clinician-reported outcomes were generated through initial patient assessment with CTCAE v4.03. Participants then completed the PRO-CTCAE® and adapted-REQUITE questionnaires. Concordance between the 2 questionnaires was assessed by calculating Pearson correlation coefficient. PRO-CTCAE® and CTCAE concordance was demonstrated by calculating Pearson correlation coefficient from the linear predictors of an ordinal logistic regression. P-values were also calculated. Results: Out of 74 patients approached, 65 provided written informed consent to participate in the study. 63 (96.9%) patients completed both PRO-CTCAE® and adapted-REQUITE questionnaires. Pearson correlation coefficient between PRO tools was 0.8-0.83 (p <.001). Correlation between CTCAE and PRO-CTCAE® ranged between 0.66-0.82 (p <.001). Adapted-REQUITE and CTCAE correlation was higher for all symptoms ranging between 0.79-0.91 (p <.001). Acceptable discrepancies within one grade were present in 96.8%-100% of symptom domains for REQUITE and in 92.1%-96.8%for all domains in the PRO-CTCAE®. 54% of the total participant cohort favored the adapted-REQUITE questionnaire due to reduced subjectivity in the questions and ease of use. Conclusion: The adapted-REQUITE questionnaire has shown a superior correlation to clinician-reported outcomes and higher patient preference than the PRO-CTCAE®. Aim: With the rising prevalence of cancer and the adverse physical and psychological experiences endured by affected individuals, this study aims to establish a model illustrating the relationship between depression in people with cancer and perceived stress. Additionally, it examines the mediating influence of eating problems, sexual satisfaction, emotional regulation, and self-compassion. Method: This study employs a descriptive-correlational research method, utilizing structural equation analysis (modeling) to explore the role of mediators. The research sample comprised 200 individuals diagnosed with cancer, selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Participants completed Beck’s 13-item depression questionnaire, a 10-item perceived stress questionnaire, an 8-item appetite measurement questionnaire, a 25-item sexual satisfaction questionnaire, a 10-item emotion regulation questionnaire, and a 12-item compassion questionnaire. The data were subsequently analyzed using SPSS-24 and Lisrel 80/8 software. Findings: The research findings indicate a significant positive relationship between perceived stress and depression in people with cancer. Furthermore, eating problems exhibited a mediating role in the relationship between perceived stress and depression, with a direct effect coefficient of (t =  0.28, ß =  0.02). However, the path from perceived stress to depression, mediated by sexual satisfaction, was found to be statistically insignificant, with a standard coefficient of 0.01 at the p <  0.05 level. Emotion regulation demonstrated a direct effect coefficient of (t = −3.52, ß =  –0.33) on depression. Likewise, selfcompassion exhibited a direct effect coefficient of (t = −3.08, ß =  –0.28) on depression, while the path from perceived stress to depression was mediated by self-compassion, with a standard coefficient of 0.12 at the p <  0.05 level. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study sheds light on the interplay between depression and perceived stress in individuals with cancer, revealing a significant positive association. Eating problems emerged as a mediating factor, directly influencing the manifestation of depressive symptoms. However, the mediation pathway through sexual satisfaction was found to be statistically insignificant. Emotion regulation and self-compassion were identified as influential factors, with direct effects on depression and self-compassion also serving as a mediator in the relationship between perceived stress and depression. The findings emphasize the importance of targeted interventions addressing eating problems, enhancing emotion regulation, and fostering self-compassion to alleviate the impact of depression and perceived stress in individuals facing cancer-related challenges. Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in women globally, often leading to distant metastasis in the lung, liver, or bones. Cutaneous metastasis represents an uncommon pattern in breast cancer, butwhen observed, it tends tomanifest in the thorax and upper abdomen, primarily due to lymph node involvement. Therefore, occurrences of cutaneous metastasis on the scalp and extremities are infrequent. Moreover, invasive lobular carcinoma metastasizing to remote skin is rare among the breast cancer. This report presents a case of cutaneous metastasis of invasive lobular carcinoma to the scalp in a patient treated for breast cancer six years ago, with no signs of local recurrence or metastasis to other organs. Purposes: Domestic and international research has found that patients with advanced cancer prioritize increasing their quality of life above extending their lives with simple or intensive treatments. The current study investigates the pathways to improve patients' sense of well-being from the family, social, and individual levels, that is to say, it investigates the mediating roles of comprehending social support as well as psychological resilience in the relationship between family resilience and subjective well-being, and it also provides references for future intervention. Method: The Family Resilience Questionnaire (FRQ), General Well-being Schedule (GWB), Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), and the Chinese version of the Cornor-Davidson Resilience Scale 10-item (CD-RISC) were all completed by 338 patients with advanced cancer who took part in the study. Results: The study's findings demonstrated a significant and positive correlation between family resilience, subjective well-being, perceived social support, and psychological resilience. Additionally, there was a significant direct effect of family resilience on subjective well-being as well as a mediating and chain mediating effect between perceived social support and psychological resilience. The findings of this study will be very helpful in the future when it comes to enhancing the quality of life for patients with advanced cancer through intervention. Cancer and its associated treatment is a major stressor, leading to emotions such as anxiety or depressive mood. Human emotions have developed through the course of evolution because they facilitate adaptation to important events, such as cancer and its associated treatment. On the other hand, emotions can be maladaptive and interfere with adaptation to cancer. Emotions are maladaptive if they are disproportionally severe or persistent, and if they interfere with functioning. We aim to expand the conceptualization of adaptive and maladaptive emotions in patients with cancer. We draw on major theories in the field of mental disorder and mental health, and apply these theories to conceptualize adaptive and maladaptive emotions in patients with cancer. (i) Maladaptive emotions have two essential features: mental dysfunction and patient harm. Maladaptive emotions are characterized by a network of strongly associated emotional symptoms, which may include cancer-related somatic symptoms. The dysfunctional symptom network is hypothesized to be the result of disturbance of life goal pursuit caused by cancer. (ii) Adaptive emotions have two essential features: ability to deal with cancer and functioning well. The ability to use emotions in an adaptive way depends on skills to recognize, express, and regulate emotions in a flexible manner. A secure attachment style facilitates adaptive emotional responses to cancer. Introduction: A better understanding of patient experience of intravenous (IV) or subcutaneous (SC) routes of administration is fundamental to providing optimal administration of medical therapies to oncology patients. The objective of this study was to examine patient experiences of IV and SC treatment with nivolumab and confirm the relevance of item concepts in the Patient Experience and Preference Questionnaire (PEPQ). The PEPQ is a clinical outcomes' assessment instrument developed to obtain patient-centric data and understand the experience with IV and SC treatment administration. Methods: Embedded qualitative interviews were conducted with a subset of participants from three treatment cohorts with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), renal cell carcinoma (RCC), unresectable or advanced metastatic melanoma, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), or colorectal cancer (CRC) from the CA209-8KX clinical trial. Concept elicitation interviews were conducted within 14 days of the initial treatment cycle and patient experiences with IV and SC treatment administration were assessed. Concepts from interviews were mapped to the PEPQ version 1.0 questions to assess relevance and convergence of concepts. Results: Interviews were conducted with 43 trial participants from clinical sites opting to participate from six countries (Argentina, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and New Zealand). The mean age of sub-study participants was 66 ± 11.3 years (range 24-80 years), and 67.4% (N = 29) were male. Sub-study participants with experience of SC most frequently reported symptoms or signs of injection-related redness (27.9%), itching (14.0%), and pain (of needle), and described the pain as pricking, stinging, or tingling (11.0% each). The amount of pain and time burden were widely endorsed as important factors for satisfaction and related to the route of medication administration. For 11 sub-study participants with experience with both IV and SC treatments, 10 (90.9%) preferred SC over IV treatment administration. Conclusion: This study summarizes the experience and satisfaction of receiving IV or SC treatment and confirms the relevance of the PEPQ in a subgroup of CA209-8KX clinical trial participants with metastatic NSCLC, RCC, melanoma, HCC, and CRC. Participant treatment experience and satisfaction with the route of medication mapped to the PEPQ question content support the relevance of PEPQ v2.0 in clinical trials as a self-report measure. Background: Cancer is a life-threatening disease that triggers not only vulnerability to distressing symptoms but also a meaning-making process that may lead to post-traumatic growth. As people often struggle to integrate cancer illness into their meaning system to reach an adaptive meaning, psychological interventions focused on a reappraisal of the illness experience can facilitate this process. This multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) was primarily aimed at assessing the efficacy of a writing intervention known as a guided disclosure protocol (GDP), compared to a generic writing intervention, in promoting posttraumatic growth in stage I-III breast and colon cancer patients at the end of their adjuvant chemotherapy. Methods: Between January 2016 and August 2020 recruitment of eligible subjects took place during follow-up clinical consultations. Assessment occurred at baseline (T0), after the intervention (T1, 3 months from baseline), and at 6 months from baseline (T2). Both interventions consisted of three 20-min writing sessions to be performed once every two weeks. Change in posttraumatic growth was assessed using the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, meaning with the Constructed Meaning Scale, and psychological distress with the Impact of Event Scale and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Results: In the five participating centers, 102 eligible patients were randomized and 72 participants completed follow-up evaluation. Most patients were women (79.4%), had breast cancer (68.6%), and stage I (27.5%), or stage II (44.1%) disease. Mean differences did not reach statistical significance for any of the dependent variables. However, an effect of the GDP, although not statistically relevant, was observed after the intervention in terms of enhanced post-traumatic growth and increased distress measured with the Impact of Event Scale. Conclusion: This is the first RCT investigating the efficacy of a GDP in cancer patients having post-traumatic growth as the primary aim. Though GDP is a promising intervention in promoting post-traumatic growth, the lack of statistical significance of our findings may be due to the study being underpowered, hence this trial should be replicated with an adequate sample size, paying attention to supporting recruitment. Introduction: No prior meta-analysis has investigated the impact of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitor therapy on survival outcomes in patients with advanced or recurrent uterine cancers (including both corpus and cervical cancers). Methods: A comprehensive search of PubMed and Embase databases was conducted, covering the past 10 years (up to August 2023) and encompassing all clinical research related to uterine cancer. Five randomized controlled trials and one cohort study met the inclusion criteria and were included in the metaanalysis. Data on patient demographics, clinical characteristics, treatment regimens, and survival outcomes were extracted. Hazard ratios (HRs) for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), as well as the relative risk of grade 3 or higher adverse events, were pooled using randomeffects models. Results: Patients receiving PD-1 inhibitors had better OS (HR, 0.65, 95% CI, 0.59-0.72; P<.001) and PFS (HR, 0.59, 95% CI, 0.49-0.70; P<.001) than those receiving variable non-PD-1 inhibitor therapies among 3452 uterine cancer patients. The leave-one-out meta-analysis of the HR of OS showed no individual study impact on the estimation of the overall effect size. Subgroup analysis revealed better OS in the PD-1 inhibitors use than the controls in cervical cancer (HR, 0.68, 95% CI, 0.59-0.79), endometrial cancer (HR, 0.62, 95% CI, 0.54-0.72), and pembrolizumab use (HR, 0.66, 95% CI, 0.57-0.75) subgroups. Patients with advanced cervical cancer, who had CPS > 1, receiving PD-1 inhibitors have statistically significant benefits in OS compared to controls (HR, 0.65, 95% CI, 0.53-0.80). The pooled HR for overall survival was 0.71 (95% CI, 0.60-0.82; P<.001) in patients who received PD-1 inhibitors as compared to those who did not receive PD-1 inhibitors in proficient mismatch repair (MMR) endometrial cancer patients. However, in deficient MMR patients, the HR was 0.30 (95% CI, 0.13-0.70). The relative risk of grade 3 or higher adverse events was not higher in the PD-1 inhibitor group (relative risk, 1.12, 95% CI, 0.98-1.27). Conclusion: Survival was significantly better using PD-1 inhibitor therapy than variable non-PD-1 inhibitor chemotherapies among patients with advanced or recurrent uterine cancers. Liver cancer remains as the third leading cause of cancer-related death globally as of 2020. Despite the significant progress made in the field of liver cancer treatment, there is still a lack of effective therapies in patients with advanced cancer and the molecular mechanisms underlying liver cancer progression remain largely elusive. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification, as the most prevalent and abundant internal RNA modification in eukaryotic RNAs, plays an essential role in regulating RNA metabolism including RNA splicing, stability, translation, degradation. To date, there is mounting evidence showing that m6A dysregulation is closely associated with the onset and development of many tumors including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and hepatoblastoma (HB). In this review, we summarize the last research progress regarding the functions of m6A-related regulators in liver cancer and its underlying mechanisms. Purpose: Patients with advanced prostate cancer (PCa) often develop castration-resistant PCa (CRPC) with poor prognosis. Prognostic information obtained from multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and histopathology specimens can be effectively utilized through artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. The objective of this study is to construct an AI-based CRPC progress prediction model by integrating multimodal data. Methods and materials: Data from 399 patients diagnosed with PCa at three medical centers between January 2018 and January 2021 were collected retrospectively. We delineated regions of interest (ROIs) from 3 MRI sequences viz, T2WI, DWI, and ADC and utilized a cropping tool to extract the largest section of each ROI. We selected representative pathological hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) slides for deep-learning model training. A joint combined model nomogram was constructed. ROC curves and calibration curves were plotted to assess the predictive performance and goodness of fit of the model. We generated decision curve analysis (DCA) curves and Kaplan-Meier (KM) survival curves to evaluate the clinical net benefit of the model and its association with progression-free survival (PFS). Results: The AUC of the machine learning (ML) model was 0.755. The best deep learning (DL) model for radiomics and pathomics was the ResNet-50 model, with an AUC of 0.768 and 0.752, respectively. The nomogram graph showed that DL model contributed the most, and the AUC for the combined model was 0.86. The calibration curves and DCA indicate that the combined model had a good calibration ability and net clinical benefit. The KM curve indicated that the model integrating multimodal data can guide patient prognosis and management strategies. Background: Systemic inflammation and glucose metabolism have been closely related to the survival of cancer patients. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate whether preoperative glucose-to-lymphocyte ratio (GLR) can be used to predict the survival of cancer patients. Methods: We retrospectively examined 2172 cancer patients who underwent surgery from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2016. There were 240 patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), 378 patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), 221 patients with breast cancer (BC), 335 patients with gastric cancer (GC), 270 patients with liver cancer, 233 patients with esophageal cancer (EC), 295 patients with renal cancer, and 200 patients with melanoma. The formula for preoperative GLR calculation was as follows: GLR=glucose/lymphocyte count. The overall survival (OS) was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. The predictive factors for OS were determined using multivariate analysis. Results: The Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the median survival time in the high-GLR group was much shorter than that of those in the low-GLR group for different cancers. Cox multivariate regression analysis reveals that preoperative GLR was an independent factor for predicting overall survival in different tumor types. Conclusion: Elevated preoperative GLR was remarkably associated with a poorer prognosis in patients with NSCLC, CRC, breast cancer, gastric cancer, kidney cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer, and melanoma. Objective: This study aimed to assess the extent of access to healthcare services, perception and associated factors among patients with cervical cancer in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Methods: A facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted from 01 July through 30 August 2023 at two tertiary hospitals. Cases with histopathologic and clinical confirmation of cervical cancer were enrolled using a consecutive sampling technique. Data was collected through a validated questionnaire administered by interviewers using the KoboCollect application. Subsequently, the collected data underwent analysis using Statistical Sciences for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0. Bivariable and multivariable regression models were performed at p ≤ 0.2 and p<0.05 statistical significance, respectively. Results: A total of 391 patients were enrolled in the study. Health facilities were accessible for obtaining general medical services (56.5%), drugs (57.3%), laboratory diagnosis services (57.0%), imaging diagnosis services (56.8%), and radiotherapy services (55.8%) of the patients. Cost of services was affordable only in 11.5% of the cases. Essential anticancer medicines were out of stock for 229 (58.6%) of the patients during the past three months. About two-thirds of the patients have a good perception of access to healthcare services. In multivariable binary logistic regression, admission to the inpatient (AOR: 0.20, 95% CI: 0.06- 0.67), joblessness (AOR: 0.19, 95% CI: 0.08-0.46), lower level of income to the extreme poverty line (3567ETB)(64.9 USD) (AOR: 0.19, 95% CI: 0.10-0.35), no CBHI coverage (AOR: 4.16, 95% CI: 1.76-9.85), having social support (AOR: 3.80; 95% CI: 1.96-7.41), and poor dietary practice (AOR: 2.36, 95% CI: 1.28-4.35) were found to have a statistically significant association with perceived good access to healthcare services. Conclusion: Only close to a half of the patients with cervical cancer, in Addis Ababa, have adequate access to healthcare services. Nearly two-thirds of the patients reported perceived good access to the services. Many factors were found to show a statistically significant association with patients' perceived access to healthcare services. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
