In this study, a novel fluorescent nanoprobe (ZIF-90@FSS) was constructed using a zeolite imidazolium ester skeleton (ZIF-90) incorporating sodium fluorescein within its porous structure. Notably, this nanoprobe exhibited regular fluorescence "off" detection performance of Fe 3+ in actual samples and living cells. The concentration range of 0-150 ng/mL exhibited a lowest detection limit of 0.26 ng/mL. A nanofiber paper-based platform (VL78/ZIF-90@FSS) was further developed by coupling the prepared nanoprobe to a multi-dimensional fiber paper via CN bonds, enabling rapid visual white light colorimetric and fluorescence imaging of Fe 3+ within 2 min. The constructed nanoprobe and its paper-based detection platforms demonstrated a stable recovery range in tap water, beer, and soy sauce samples during spiking-recovery assessments. The recovery rates ranged from 98.46 % to 108.24 % for the nanoprobe and from 91.75 % to 108.71 % for the nanofiber paper-based platform. Screen-printed copper electrodes have the potential to replace silver and lithium electrodes in printed batteries and sensors owing to the abundance of copper, its competitive electrical properties, and the low cost of raw materials. Herein, copper microparticle-glycerol-based inks were screen-printed onto paper to develop highly conductive electrodes. The conductivity and particle connectivity enhancement of screen-printed electrodes are the main research topics. These parameters translate to usability including increased sensitivity for sensor applications and reduced resistivity for battery electrode applications. CuO nanoparticles of 50 nm were deposited onto the electrodes at a concentration of 1 μl/cm2, which led to a 4-fold decrease in sheet resistivity from 200 to 50 Ω/m2. The increased connectivity and formation of new channels due to the addition of nanoparticles were visualised via field emission scanning electron microscopy. The CuO nanoparticles were developed via a hybrid approach incorporating wet chemistry for high yield and laser ablation for colloidal conductivity and Zeta potential enhancement which reached up to −45 mV. An optimal screen-printing viscosity of 62 mPa s was achieved through a precise 1.95:1 mass ratio of Cu microparticles to glycerol. Heat treatment at 100 °C after screen-printing enhanced particle connectivity by reducing glycerol content in the ink.

The nanomedicine system based on dual drug delivery systems (DDDs) can significantly enhance the efficacy of tumor treatment. Herein, a metal-organic framework, Zeolite imidazole salt frames 8 (ZIF-8), was successfully utilized as a carrier to load the dual chemotherapeutic drugs doxorubicin (DOX) and camptothecin (CPT), named DOX/CPT@ZIF-8 (denoted as DCZ), and their inhibitory effects on 4T1 breast cancer cells were evaluated. The study experimentally demonstrated the synergistic effects of the dual chemotherapeutic drugs within the ZIF-8 carrier and showed that the ZIF-8 nano-carrier loaded with the dual drugs exhibited stronger cytotoxicity and inhibitory effects on 4T1 breast cancer cells compared to single-drug treatment. Background: Adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) plays an important role in cell metabolism and has been regarded as an indicator of cell survival and damage. Golgi apparatus participates in the signal transduction processes of substance transport, ion homeostasis and stress when extracellular substances enter cells. Till now, there is no fluorescent probe for monitoring Golgi ATP level fluctuation and visualizing the configuration change of the Golgi apparatus during the inhibition of glycolysis., Results: Herein, we report the synthesis of a novel water-soluble cationic polythiophene derivative (PEMTEA) that can be employed as a fluorescent sensor for measuring ATP in the Golgi apparatus. PEMTEA self-assembles into PT-NP nanoparticles in aqueous solution with a diameter of approximately 2 nm. PT-NP displays high sensitivity and superb selectivity towards ATP with a detection limit of 90 nM and a linear detection range from 0 to 3.0 μM. The nanoparticles show low toxicity to HepG2 cells and good photostability in the Golgi apparatus. With the stimulation of Ca 2+ , PT-NP was practically applied to real-time monitor of endogenous ATP levels in the Golgi apparatus through fluorescence microscopy. Background: Vitamin D3 (VD3) deficiency among children in Saudi Arabia remains a pressing concern due to its poor bioavailability and the limitations of current pediatric formulations. To address this challenge, we developed a groundbreaking pediatric self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (Bio-SNEDDS) for VD3, fortified with black seed oil and moringa seed oil for dual therapeutic benefits. Through meticulous formulation optimization using ternary phase diagrams and comprehensive testing, our Bio-SNEDDS demonstrated exceptional performance., Methods: Bio-SNEDDS were manufactured by incorporating Black seed oil and moringa seed oil as bioactive nutraceutical excipients along with various cosurfactant and surfactants. Bio-SNEDDS were systematically optimized through ternary phase diagrams, visual tests, droplet size analysis, drug solubilization studies, dispersion assessments, and pharmacokinetic testing in rats compared to Vi-De 3®., Results: Pseudoternary phase diagrams identified oil blends producing large nanoemulsion regions optimal for SNEDDS formation. The optimized F1 Bio-SNEDDS showed a mean droplet diameter of 33.7 nm, solubilized 154.46 mg/g VD3 with no metabolite formation, and maintained >88% VD3 in solution during 24 h dispersion testing. Nanotechnology offers a promising and innovative approach to mitigate biotic and abiotic stress in crop production. In this study, the beneficial role and potential detoxification mechanism of biogenic selenium nanoparticles (Bio-SeNPs) prepared from Psidium guajava extracts in alleviating antimony (Sb) toxicity in rice seedlings (Oryza sativa L.) were investigated. The results revealed that exogenous addition of Bio-SeNPs (0.05 g/L) into the hydroponic-cultured system led to a substantial enhancement in rice shoot height (73.3%), shoot fresh weight (38.7%) and dry weight (28.8%) under 50 μM Sb(III) stress conditions. Compared to Sb exposure alone, hydroponic application of Bio-SeNPs also greatly promoted rice photosynthesis, improved cell viability and membrane integrity, reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, and increased antioxidant activities. Meanwhile, exogenous Bio-SeNPs application significantly lowered the Sb accumulation in rice roots (77.1%) and shoots (35.1%), and reduced its root to shoot translocation (55.3%). Additionally, Bio-SeNPs addition were found to modulate the subcellular distribution of Sb and the expression of genes associated with Sb detoxification in rice, such as OsCuZnSOD2, OsCATA, OsGSH1, OsABCC1, and OsWAK11. The transport of nanoplastics (NPs) in porous media has received a lot of attention, but the studies on the long-term release of NPs retained in porous media and the particle fracture during this process are seriously lacking. For filling this deficiency, we examined the individual or synergistic effects of surfactants, natural organic matters (NOMs), antibiotics, and bacteria on the desorption, long-term release, and particle fracture behaviors of polystyrene NPs (PS-NPs) retained in porous media. It was found that the change in hydrophilicity of PS-NPs dominated the long-term release of PS-NPs retained in porous media when surfactants were present. In the single system of surfactants and the dual system of surfactants and NOMs, the release of PS-NPs were improved owing to the increasing hydrophilicity of PS-NPs, although cationic surfactants also reduced the electrostatic repulsion between PS-NPs and porous media. Increasing antibiotic concentration reduced the electrostatic repulsion between PS-NPs and porous media to inhibit the release of PS-NPs. When bacteria were present whether containing antibiotics or not, the effects on roughness of PS-NPs dominated the release of PS-NPs. The effects of surfactants and NOMs on the PS-NP desorption were similar with the long-term release, with changes in hydrophilicity dominating the process. Whereas the effects of antibiotics and bacteria on the PS-NP desorption were different with the long-term release. Surfactants and NOMs in the presence of surfactants inhibited the fracture of PS-NPs by increasing the hydrophilicity of PS-NPs brought about the coating of water molecules on PS-NPs for protection. Antibiotics had no significant effects on the fracture of PS-NPs due to unaltered vertical forces on PS-NPs and no protective effect. Soil salinization significantly affects crop production by reducing crop quality and decreasing yields. Climate change can intensify salinity-related challenges, making the task of achieving global food security more complex. To address the problem of elevated salinity stress in crops, nanoparticles (NPs) have emerged as a promising solution. NPs, characterized by their small size and extensive surface area, exhibit remarkable functionality and reactivity. Various types of NPs, including metal and metal oxide NPs, carbon-based NPs, polymer-based NPs, and modified NPs, have displayed potential for mitigating salinity stress in plants. However, the effectiveness of NPs application in alleviating plant stress is dependent upon multiple factors, such as NPs size, exposure duration, plant species, particle composition, and prevailing environmental conditions. Moreover, alterations to NPs surfaces through functionalization and coating also play a role in influencing plant tolerance to salinity stress. NPs can influence cellular processes by impacting signal transduction and gene expression. They counteract reactive oxygen species (ROS), regulate the water balance, enhance photosynthesis and nutrient uptake and promote plant growth and yield. The objective of this review is to discuss the positive impacts of diverse NPs on alleviating salinity stress within plants. The intricate mechanisms through which NPs accomplish this mitigation are also discussed. Moving towards green chemistry to minimize the diverse effect of chemicals on human health and environment has become a great issue in chemistry. On the other hand, determination of pharmaceuticals is an important issue for both human health and environment. In this regard two natural and benign compounds such as quercetin a polyphenolic flavonoid and Arabic Gum (AG) a polysaccharide were used to construct a sensor for meropenem. Herein, a new method was established for the synthesis of AG and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite decorated by quercetin nanoparticles (QUENPs) as a fluorimetric film sensor to measure meropenem. In order to embed QUENPs in the polymer composite substrate, first QUENPs were synthesized and then added to the prepared composite solution under optimal conditions. The characteristics of AG and PVA composite (AG-PVA) and AG-PVA composite decorated by QUENPs films (QUENPs-AG-PVA), before and after the addition of meropenem was studied by TEM, FT-IR and EDX-Mapping. The developed film sensor was placed in a holder made with 3D printer. The difference in the fluorescence intensity of the fabricated film before and after the addition of meropenem was taken as the signal for measuring meropenem. The effect of different parameters on the fabrication of film fluorimetric sensor such as the concentration of polymer solutions, the volume of QUENPs and the volume of glycerol were investigated. Factors affecting the measurement of meropenem such as pH, type of buffer, volume of meropenem solution added on the sensor and time were also investigated. Under the obtained optimum conditions, the calibration graph was linear in the concentration range of 50-800 ng mL -1 with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9976 and the detection limit was 42.6 ng mL -1 . The relative standard deviation was 3.5% and 1.4%, for eight replicate determinations of 100 ng mL -1 and 400 ng mL -1 of meropenem, respectively. NAD(P)H: quinine oxidoreductase (NQO1) is overexpressed in many types of cancer cells, and have been used as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis and targeted therapy. The development of activatable theranostic agents is highly desirable for precise cancer diagnosis and therapy. Herein, a NQO1-activated near-infrared multifunctional theranostic probe I-HCy-Q is successfully developed for imaging guided photodynamic therapy. The NIR fluorescence (λ ex/em  = 685/703 nm) and capacity of reactive oxygen species generation are sensitive controllable by the level of NQO1, the linear detection range of NQO1 and limit of detection are 0.05-1.5 μg/mL and 5.66 ng/mL, respectively. On the one hand, I-HCy-Q can monitor the activity of NQO1 and distinguish the NQO1 positive cancer cells; on the other hand, the capacity of mitochondria-targeted photodynamic therapy makes I-HCy-Q an effective inducer of apoptosis and immunogenic cell death.
