This article informs that a questionnaire presented to the student body of Stanford University, California, by the "Daily," a student newspaper, in April 1928 and answered by slightly over 800 students, approximately one-fourth of the student body, made possible an analytical estimate of certain aspects of student opinion. The data was presented graphically, as in that form it is more easily interpretable than in tables. The graduate did not appear to differ markedly from his younger associates. The slight differences that did occur appear to reflect an increased disillusionment and a normal selection of graduates for professional training. The freshman also showed no marked differences. The differences appeared to be wholly desirable as a greater degree of conservatism. However, men were much more affected as to their religious views by the progressive exposure to college than the women. Also, the freshman men were more impressed by the views of a candidate on prohibition than the women; more freshman men than women wanted the U.S. to stay out of the League of Nations.

The shift in perception within psychology is primarily due to the growing recognition of what one might call the projective nature of perception. But author is unlikely to infer that he is independent, unfriendly, or inflexible. Similarly, if someone agrees with our unvoiced views, we probably avoid inferring that he is therefore a dependent, friendly, or flexible person. On the other hand, the fact that an individual agrees or disagrees with the judgments he has heard us express may readily be construed as evidence concerning his dispositional characteristics. To test these contentions, each of 80 male college students was paired with an accomplice and asked to supply oral answers to a series of 26 multiple-choice questions dealing with factual matters.

There is a committee at work on the problem, under the chairmanship of the editor of the journal. The editorial team would like to know from its readers if it should continue its present policy.
