plants. Taxonomically, this study is limited to six species: Ocimum basilicum L. (sweet basil), 0. sanctum L. (holy basil), 0. canum Sims., 0. citriodorum Vis. (lemon basil), 0. kilimandscharicum Guerke (camphor basil), and 0. suave Willd. Only two of these species have produced numerous cultivars: 0. basilicum and 0. sanctum and only those of 0. basilicum present complex confusion
