The article reports on the study about the admission and out-patient referral rates of individuals to psychiatric hospitals and day hospitals during the period of civil disturbance in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1969. It was carried out within the three areas in the country that was identified according to its level of disturbance. Tables were presented which compares the admission and out-patient referral rates to hospitals and prescription rates in August and September 1968 compared to the same months in 1969. The study reveals that an increase of out-patient referral rate for male psychotics was experienced in Area 2, where the disturbance was at an average level.
