The changes of carbohydrate, nitrogen, auxin, gibberellin and nucleic acid metabolism associated with the transition of tomato plant from the vegetative to the reproductive state in response to the environmental and cultural treatments were investigated in this report, with the aim of finding the causal physiological factors for the flower formation.1. Relationships between nitrogen and carbohydrate metabolism and the flower formation.Carbohydrate and nitrogen compounds gradually increased with the progress of plant growth and reached to their peaks just before the flower bud differentiation of plant grown at each condition, and then decreased with the development of flower bud.2. Relationships between auxin metabolism and the flower formation.The content of auxin in the apical parts of plants grown under the natural conditions was large at the vegetative stage and temporarily decreased just before the flower induction, and then increased considerably after the flower induction.3. Relationships between gibberellin metabolism and the flower formation.Seasonal trend of gibberellin-like substances in the apical parts of plants grown under the natural conditions was the same as that of auxin.4. Relationships between nucleic acid metabolism and the flower formation.DNA content was fairly constant in the apical parts of plants grown at various conditions during the course of vegetative growth, but thereafter gradually increased following flower induction, while RNA content in the apical parts of plants grown at various conditions increased rapidly with the progress of the plant growth, reaching to a peak immediately before flower initiation, corresponding with the time of a temporary decline of auxin, and then decreased after flower induction.5. Relationships between the various constituents and the flower formation.From the previous papers and the present results it may be explained as follows:Auxin and gibberellin in the apical bud and/or the immature leaves exerted an effect to pull the stream of the flower forming substances from the mature leaves, and the amount of the flower forming substances supplied to the meristematic tissues varied being controlled by the level of auxin and gibberellin in the apical bud and/or the immature leaves. The lower level of auxin and gibberellin in the apical bud and/or the immature leaves affected to promote the accumulation of the flower forming substances in the meristematic tissues. The reproductive DNA (gene for flower formation) in the meristematic tissues had to duplicate and was activated by the flower forming substances accumulated in the meristematic tissues, and the activated reproductive DNA transcribed the genetic code to the reproductive RNA, and the specific reproductive protein was produced in the meristematic tissues under the guiding auspices of the messenger RNA, and the cell division in the meristematic tissues caused by the action of the reproductive protein and induced the flower formation.

2 : 1 complexes of trimethylstibine sulfide (TMSS) with zinc(II), cadmium(II), mercury(II) and cobalt(II) halides were prepared. 1 : 1 complexes were also obtained with cadmium bromide and mercuric iodide. On the basis of infrared spectra, it was found that TMSS coordinates to the metal through the sulfur atom and that Hg(TMSS)I2 has a sulfur-bridged structure. The electronic spectral parameters of the tetrahedral Co(TMSS)2X2 (X=Cl, Br and I) complexes are quite close to those of trimethyl-phosphine and -arsine sulfide complexes. These results indicate that for Co–S interactions, polarizability of the thioxo ligand is more important than polarity.

1. The deficiency symptoms and requirement for vitamin A of young carp have been studied, using the synthetic vitamin A acetate and the basal diet devised by HALVER et al. 2. The deficiency symptoms were characterized by anorexia, retarded growth, faded body color, hemorrhage in the fins and skin, warped gill opercula, and exophthalmia. These symptoms could not be alleviated by administration of vitamin A, except anorexia, retarded growth, and faded body color. 3. Under the experimental conditions adopted, the requirement of young carp was estimated to be 400 ?? 2, 000 I.U. per 100g of diet, or 100 ?? 500 I.U. per kg of body weight per day, on the basis of the deficiency symptoms and vitamin A concentration of the hepatopancreas.

By repeated feeding experiments, amino acid test diets after the formulae both for salmonoid fishes and for channel catfish were found to be unable to sustain the growth of young carp. The hydrolyzates of casein after treatment with trypsin could not replace casein itself. A higher level of cellulose flour or agar-agar was effective in controlling the retention time of amino acid test diet in the intestine to the extent of that of the casein-gelatin test diet, but the growth of young carp was improved not at all. These results suggest that there is a specific aspect in the protein nutrition of young carp.

コンピューターによる情報処理の一分野として発達している, 主として言語情報の蓄積と検索を目的とする情報検索 (IR) システムの現状について, アプリケーションの理論とプログラム言語およびハードウエアシステムの観点で展望した.

「傾向面分析」という統計的地質解折の新しい手法は, 10年余り前から,おもに米国の地質家によって利用されている。この種の分析技法は,とかく地質家には馴みの薄いものであったが,探鉱開発の実務に有効な役割を果してきた。最近,計算機応用の技術向上と相俟って,一段と数理的なものにする努力が払われている。本論文の目的は,この「傾向面分析」という新しい解析手法の「概念」と「方法論」と「応用法の実際」を,日本の石油地質データを使って紹介することである。データとして,山形県庄内平野の坑井のIsocoreデータを使用した。計算機が描いた図の解釈については,それが何を意味するかについてなお研究の必要があるが,地層の発達状況との相関はきわめて合理的に表現されている。これら数理的な解析の効用を理解し,探鉱開発技術の一助とする必要がある。

1. The requirement of young carp for thiamine was studied by using the test diet devised by HALVER et al., and the short-necked clam diet which was made thiamine-free by autolysis.2. In the feeding experiment with the HALVER diet for 13 weeks, no deficiency symptoms were demonstrated. This was also true for the short-necked clam diet for 8 weeks, which caused the typical deficiency symptoms in rainbow trout in 4 weeks.

The cathodic polarization characteristics of the electrode consisting of poly (4-vinylpyridine) bromine complex and graphite powder were investigated. The electrolyte was propylene carbonate containing 1 M LiBr. The rest potential of the electrode was approx. 0.5 V (versus SCE). The coulometric efficiency of the continuous discharge was 52–53%.

亜鉛の投与によって,カドミウムの特異な精巣障害作用を防ぎうることが知られているが,その拮抗部位については明らかでない。今回の実験は,カドミウムの精巣内血管壁に対する障害作用に亜鉛が拮抗的に働きうるか否かを,精巣間質への出血(warfarinによるanti-coagulant bleeding)の有無を示標として検討した。動物はすべてWistar系の雄ネズミが用いられた。カドミウムの投与は1例当り塩化カドミウム1.5mgを皮下に,また亜鉛は塩化亜鉛として1例当り100mgをカドミウム投与の24時間前に経皮的に与えられた。示標とするanti•coagulant bleedingを見るために,カドミウム投与の1日前から屠殺までの4日間,全例にwarfarinsodium(10 mg/l)が飲水として与えられた。結果はカドミウム単独投与群の精巣•精巣上体頭部頭端には顕著な出血性腫脹が認められたのに対し,予め亜鉛を与えられた動物では,いずれの部位にも出血•腫脹などの変化は認められず,組織学的にも障害像は見出し得なかった。これは,カドミウムの障害効果に対する亜鉛の拮抗部位が精巣内血管壁にあることを思わしめるものであって,同時にまたカドミウムの直接の作用部位が精巣内血管壁にあるとする著者らの考え方を支持するものである。

The preventive effects of four tocol homologues on muscular dystrophy in young carp were compared with the casein-gelatin diet containing oxidized mackerel body oil. From the appearance of muscular dystrophy, growth, feed conversion, and histopathological observations it was concluded that α-tocopherol is far more effective than β-, γ-, and δ-tocopherols, in order of decreasing potency.

The present studies were carried out to ascertain the influence of the application of nucleic acid and antimetabolites of nucleic acid on the growth and the flower formation of tomato plants.Spraying with nucleic acid and antimetabolites of nucleic acid was begun when the cotyledon expanded fully and repeated 10 times at 3-day-intervals.1. Effect of application of DNA and RNA on the vegetative and reproductive processes.Plants were sprayed with 200, 1, 000 and 3, 000 ppm solution of DNA and RNA decomposed by autoclaving.All concentrations of DNA and the lower concentrations of RNA sprays failed to induce any effect on the plant growth and the flower formation. High concentration of RNA spray increased the number of flowers.2. Effect of application of guanine, uracil, uridine and uridylic acid on the vegetative and reproductive processes.Plants were sprayed with solution of guanine, uracil, uridine and uridylic acid at 200, 1, 000 and 3, 000ppm.All concentrations of guanine, uridine and uridylic acid sprays failed to induce any effect on the plant growth and the flower formation. High concentration of uracil spray increased the number of flowers.3. Effect of application of 8-azaguanine and thiouracil on the vegetative and reproductive processes.Plants were sprayed with solution of 8-azaguanine at 5×10-4 and 2×10-3M and thiouracil at 5×10-5, 2×10-4, 4×10-4 and 6×10-4M.High concentration of 8-azaguanine and thiouracil spray restricted the plant growth, being follwed by the retardation of the flower bud differentiation, the increase in the number of leaves to the first inflorescence and the decrease in the number of flowers with the retardation of their development.4. Effect of application of 5-bromouracil and ethionine on the vegetative and reproductive processes.Seedlings were sprayed with solution of 5-bromouracil at 5×10-4 and 2×10-3M and ethionine at 5×10-4 and 10-3M.High concentration of 5-bromouracil and ethionine spray restricted the plant growth, but failed to induce any effect on the flower formation.5. Effect of application of acriflavin, mitomycine and chloramphenicol on the vegetative and reproductive processes.Plants were sprayed with solution of acriflavin, mitomycine and chloramphenicol at 1, 10 and 50ppm.The higher the concentration of acriflavin, mitomycine and chloramphenicol solution, the weaker the plant growth, the later the flower bud differentiation, resulting in the increase in the number of leaves to the first inflorescence, and in the less number of flowers.6. Role of nucleic acid on the flower formation.Applications of nucleic acid increased the number of flowers, and applications of antimetabolites of nucleic acid retarded the flower formation.From the present results it may be suggested that the increase of nucleic acid in the apical part was an important factor for the induction of flower bud in the tomato plant.

昭和基地からrocketを打ち上げてsubstormの機構を研究する場合,rocket到達高度が現状程度でも有効で,且つmagnetospheric substormの本質に係わりがある様な研究課題を,主としてgeomagnetic pulsation substormの角度から議論し,提起した.まずsubstorm性や地磁気脈動が観測される領域が,極を回って移動していく様子を総合的に示し,この事はあたかも地震と津波の関係の如く,substormの発生に伴って生じた高energy粒子が,内部磁気圏を回って夜側から昼側にdriftしながら,粒子あるいは波として次次に極域電離層に降り注ぐためであるとの解釈を与えた.これら脈動の中,Pid型脈動をrocket観測すると,Pidそのものの,機構を検証し得ると同時に,"磁気圏津波"の研究に深く関与するはずであり,一方Ps6型脈動をrocket観測すれば,最近問題になっているmultiple field-aligned currentの構造及び運動も研究する上に極めて有用であろう.Pid,Ps6共に予報時刻まで充分待機し,現象発生と共にrocketを打ち上げる事が出来るという利点がある.

In the previous report, the authors investigated the influence of night temperature, light intensity and fertility of bed soil upon the morphological and physiological development of the tomato flowers and the flower drop.The present studies were carried out to ascertain the influence of watering, defoliation and application of gibberellin upon the morphological and physiological development of the tomato flowers and the flower drop.1. Effects of early environmental conditions and cultural treatments on the morphological development and the premature drop of the flowers.Tomato seedlings (Variety: Fukuju No. 2) were grown and supplied 50-100ml, 300ml and 500ml irrigation water per pot every day. The less became the water supply, the smaller became the flowers, with smaller sepals, petals, anthers and ovaries. The water supply, however, did not influence the flower drop.The mature leaves of tomato seedlings were removed alternately or successively at the nodes from 1 to 8 when they reached to about 10cm in length. Tomato seedlings were sprayed with solution of gibberellin A3 at 100ppm when the cotyledon expanded fully and repeated eight times at 5-day-intervals. The defoliation of mature leaves and/or the application of gibberellin A3 retarded the morphological development of flowers and hence resulted in forming smaller flowers with smaller sepals, petals, ovaries and especially smaller anthers and heavy flower drop ensued.2. Relations between the morphological and physiological development of the tomato flowers.The seedlings grown under the less water supply contained the higher levels of nitrogenous constituents and the lower levels of carbohydrates in the flowers, stems and leaves and had smaller flowers.The seedlings, defoliated the mature leaves, and/or supplied with gibberellin A3 contained the lower levels of total sugars, starch and polysaccharides in the flowers, stems and leaves. The seedlings had smaller flowers and especially smaller anthers. with mostly abortive pollens and lower auxin content.3. Relations between the flower drop and the morphological and physiological development of the flowers.The flower drop of the seedlings defoliated the mature leaves and/or supplied gibberellin A3 were not effectively controlled by the auxin application at full bloom.The results of the previous and present experiments show that the deficiency of carbohydrates and/or nitrogenous constituents in the flowers, stems and leaves increased the flower drop, however the flower drop were modified by the auxin application at full bloom, and the flower drop of the seedlings grown at the high night temperature and/or under the low light intensity were effectively controlled by the auxin application at full bloom.

1. p-Aminobenzoic acid and inositol were eliminated individually from the basal diet used by HALVER et al., and the requirements of young carp for the vitamins were studied. 2. In feeding trials for 16 weeks, no deficiency symptom of p-aminobenzoic acid was observed. Moreover, addition of sulfanilamide to the diet revealed no effect on growth and numbers of erythrocytes. From these results p-aminobenzoic acid is concluded to be nonessential for young carp under the experimental conditions. 3. The deficiency symptoms of inositol were characterized by skin lesions, loss of appetite and retarded growth. The younger carp indicated the deficiency symptoms at a higher rate than the elder ones. There were some distinct indications of supply of the vitamin by biosynthesis. 4. Under the experimental conditions adopted, the requirement for inositol was found to be 7 ?? 10mg per kg of body weight per day (44mg per 100g of diet) on the basis of body weight gain.

Avifauna of four areas in Shimokita Peninsula, the northern extrimity of Honshu, Japan, was surveyed during 1964-1965.In all 101 species were recorded which comprised 75 species in summer and early autumn 1964, and 69 in winter 1965.The Long-tailed Rose-Finch (Uragus sibiricus), only once found breeding in Shimokita, was recorded in summer for the second time, and the Glaucous-winged Gull (Larus glaucescens), the rare northern gull only recorded from Miyako Bay, was observed in Mutsu Bay, February 1965.List of the species recorded are given in tables shown by observation area and habitat division, with a diagramic figure of ecological distribution of birds.

The lower became the soil fertility, the smaller became the flowers, with smaller sepals, petals, anthers and especially smaller ovaries and ensued the increased flower drop.2. Relations between the morphological and the physiological development of the tomato flowers.The seedlings grown at the higher night temperature and/or under the lower light intensity contained the lower level of total sugars and polysaccharides (including starch) in the flowers, stems and leaves.These seedlings had smaller flowers and especially smaller anthers, with mostly abortive pollens and lower auxin content.The seedlings grown in the soil of lower fertility contained the lower levels of nitrogenous constituents in the flowers, stems and leaves and had smaller flowers and especially smaller ovaries.3. Relations between the flower drop and the morphological and physiological development of the flowers.The flower drop of the seedlings grown at the higher night temperature and/or under the lower light intensity were effectively controlled by the auxin application at full bloom.The flower drop of the seedlings grown in the soil of lower fertility were not effectively controlled by the auxin application at full bloom.

According to the regulation of the Pneumoconiosis Act (1960), roentgenological classification of the type of pneumoconiosis, Maximum Breathing Capacity, and Exercise Index were studied in 824 workers exposed to dust and 222 healthy adults. There were not so significant correlations between X-ray findings and pulmonary function disterbances. Most of PR1 and PR2 showed normal or slight disorder in functional tests. As to % MBC, PR1 and PR2 showed normal while PR3 was mostly under 90%. As to Exercise Index, PR2 was above 25%. Comparison of alveolar gas exchange during the step-up exercise tests were made among three groups (69 cases in total), i.e. silicosis (48 cases), tuberculosis (11 cases) and healthy adults (11 men). In these cases, exercise ventilation (ventilation during the third minute of exercise), oxygen uptake, oxygen removal, presence of oxygen debt at the fifth minute after exercise, rate of arterial blood oxygen saturation, carbondioxide tension of arterial blood, and intrapulmonary distribution of inspired gas were measured. 48 cases of silicosis were classified in four groups and the progress of the disease was discussed. First Group … Emphysematous changes advanced, alveolar hypoventilation and uneveness of intrapulmonary distribution of gas appeared. Exercise Index showed normal value while % MBC decreased. This group was often under estimated in the screening test practice as prescribed by the Pneumoconiosis Act. Second Group … Fibrotic changes advanced, disturbance of oxygen uptake was greater than ventilatory disturbance. Rate of oxygen saturation in arterial blood decreased. In this group, % MBC decreased and Exercise Index increased. Third Group … Insufficiency of gas exchanges were compensated by hyperventilaton. This group was divided in two subgroups, adequately compensated (sub-A) and inadequately compensated (sub-B). Both sub-groups showed normal level of oxygen saturation during exercise but oxygen debt exsisted in sub-A and not in sub-B. In sub-B group, Exercise Index showed relatively high value while % MBC was normal. This group was often overestimated in the practice of the screening tests. Fourth Group … Normal gas exchange level was maintained.

Free radicals formed from (1- and 2-chloroethyl) benzene in γ-irradiated organic matrices were studied with a fluroescence spectrophotometer. The observed spectra suggest the transformation of phenetyl radical primarily formed from (2-chloroethyl)benzene to α-methyl-benzyl radical and indicate interaction between the α-methylbenzyl radical, formed from both (1- and 2-chloroethyl)benzene, and chloride anion before complete dissociation.

A measurement of the spin correlation parameters A xx (90° cm) and A yy (90° cm) of 47.5 MeV proton-proton scattering has been performed by means of polarized beam and a polarized target.

A configuration of an efficient time-division switching network to be adapted to a p.c.m. integrated telephone network is described. The traffic efficiency and blocking probability of the system are compared with those of the conventional network.
