The article discusses the relevance of the pig as a servant of science. The likeness of the pig's anatomy to men make it an excellent experimental animal. The successful breeding of miniature pigs contributed to their usefulness in science. The pig as an experimental animal was used by Leonardo da Vinci, who studied the cyclic motion of its heart. Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov also tried experimenting with pigs.
