The article reports on the plan of the Australian Mutual Provident Society to turn out a 1,000-acre farm as part of the Ninety-Mile Desert southeast of Adelaide, South Australia. According to the article, the area was covered with unhealthy scrub and received 20 inches of rainfall a year. Scientists have discovered that sheep disease in the desert was caused by lack of cobalt in the soil. Additionally, lack of zinc in soil also sickened the plants.
