This article examines a case of Colorado Tick Fever on a boy with meningoencephalitis. Colorado Tick Fever is an acute febrile viral illness common throughout the Western and Northwestern U.S. and is transmitted by the tick, Dermacentor andersoni. General symptoms of this disease include fever, chills, headache, back pain, myalgia, nausea and vomiting occur during the initial phase of the illness and persist for two to four days. In the case, the diagnosis of Colorado Tick Fever was possible on clinical grounds alone. Confirmation was supplied by the laboratory.
