The author dispels employer myths pertaining to employment of the physically handicapped and urges rehabilitation and retraining of present employees and additional employment of qualified handicapped individuals. Surveys in 1958 and 1973 of physically handicapped employees, including disabled veterans, found them to be very loyal, dependable, and able workers. (EA)

Abstract

The pattern of mitotic activity is related to form in the small coenocytic green alga Blastophysa rhizopus Reinke. Mitoses occur as a wave pattern within single nonspheroidal coenocytes, whereas within single spheroidal coenocytes, nuclear divisions are completely synchronous. The waves are uni- or bidirectional, depending on the region of mitotic wave initiation. Factors which may be influenced by the external microenvironmental of different coenocytic forms are suggested as possible mitotic initiators. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The physiological effects of crude oil on marine organisms has been investigated. Crude oil has not been found to be acutely toxic to organisms used in this study. Crude oil has been found to cause serious metabolic disorders in both plants and animals which can lead to a reduction in the net amount of carbon available for growth and reproduction. (Author)
