The article discusses the composition of portland cement concrete. Portland are made of lime containing materials such as limestone, shell or chalk and a claylike materials like shale, slate or clay. When portland cement is mixed with water, cement paste will be produced. Concrete is created when cement paste is mixed with fine aggregate and course aggregate. Tricalcium silicate, dicalcium silicate, tricalcium aluminate and tetracalcium aluminoferrite make up 90 percent of cement by weight.
