Refluxing an ethanolic solution of r-2-chloro-t-4-methyl-c-3-morpholino-3-phenyl-(1) and r-2-chloro-c-4-methyl-t-3-morpholino-3-phenyl-thietan 1,1-dioxide (3) ultimately leads to the formation of 3-[2-(2-chloroethoxy)ethyl]-5-methyl-4-phenyl-Δ4-thiazoline 1,1-dioxide via some isomeric intermediates. An X-ray crystallo-graphic analysis of the structure of the Δ4-thiazoline dioxide (8) is reported.

Enamine, die sich von unsymmetrischen Ketonen ableiten, konnen in zwei tautomeren Formen vorliegen. Die Existenz und die Reaktionsfahigkeit dieser Formen werden bewiesen und durch Umsetzung mit 4-Nitro-phenylazid, Tosylazid. Phenylhydrazono-chloressigsaure-athylester sowie 4-Chlor-bzw. 4-Nitro-benzo-nitriloxyd untersucht.

Bei den Phenylazid-Addukten des 1-Methyl- und 1-Benzyl-4-morpholino-Δ3-piperideins beobachtet man verschiedene Saurereaktionen. Mit athanolischer Salzsaure entsteht unter Eliminierung von Morpholin das entsprechende Tetrahydro-pyrido-1.2.3-triazol, wahrend man mit Essigsaure unter Fragmentierung zu 5-[(Methyl- bzw. Benzyl-hydroxymethyl-amino)-athyl]-1-phenyl-1.2.3-triazol gelangt. Bei Verwendung von Ameisensaure wird die Hydroxymethylgruppe zur Methylgruppe reduziert. Reaktionsmechanismen werden vorgeschlagen.

In the reaction between acetone diethyl ketal and N-methylanilie the main products 2,2,8,8-tetramethyl-spiro-[5.5]-undecane-4,10-dione (I) and six by-products were isolated and identified. Of these the most interesting is 1-(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-oxo-cyclohexyl)-5,5-dimethylcyclohexene-3-one (IV) the structure of which was based on chemical and spectroscopic evidence. It was cyclized by alkali to 1-hydroxy-5,5,9,9,11,11-hexamethyltricyclo-[6,2,2,02, 7]-Δ2, 7-dodecene-3-one (VI). The structure of this compound was proved by spectroscopic methods and by reduction to the corresponding diol VIII.

The reaction between acetone diethyl ketal and N-methylaniline yields as the main product a cyclic diketone which has been assigned the structure of 2,2,8,8-tetramethyl-spiro-[5,5]-undecane-4,10-dione on chemical and spectroscopic evidence.

A series of 1-aryl-5-amino-4,5-dihydro-v-triazoles bearing at least one hydrogen atom at the C-4 position has been prepared. The NMR features of the above compounds have been studied with the purpose of differentiating the triazolines with a trans configuration from those with a cis configuration. It has been shown that the hydrogen atom at C-4 lying on the same side of the amine group at C-5 always resonates at lower field than the hydrogen atom on the opposite side. This rule can be applied for identifying the configuration of the 5-amino-v-triazolines.

Die Umsetzung von Enaminen aus Ketomethylenverbindungen mit Arylsulfonylaziden folgt, je nach dem Substitutionstyp, unterschiedlichen Reaktionsschemata, die beschrieben und erortert werden.

5-Amino-4-(α-aminoethyl)-1-aryl-v-triazolines have been obtained by treating but-1-ene-1,3-diamines with aryl azides. Mixtures of two diastereoisomeric triazolines were always formed. The diastereoisomers were separated in some cases and, on the basis of their n.m.r. spectra, configurations were assigned to the members of each diastereoisomeric pair. These triazolines were rapidly attacked by strong alkali, yielding the corresponding triazoles. The members of a pair of diastereoisomeric triazolines suffer deamination at different rates.

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the report of the committee for literary activities. In view of the fact that with the vertiginous development of science, technical translators predominate in all the countries of the world and considering as well the degree in which congresses, symposia, and international meetings multiply so that the number of interpreters is continually increasing, it is natural that FIT devotes its attention particularly to the interests of technical translators and interpreters. It is increasingly clearly seen how necessary it is for translators to have contact with publishers, with the original authors, with the members of the press, etc. As regards the work carried out by the Committee, one of the most important tasks undertaken was the launching of an inquiry in Italy and by the other societies of translators affiliated with FIT concerning relations between publishers and translators. Repeated attempts to obtain the cooperation of Italian publishers have had some success; a number of publishers do print the translator's name on the title-page and reproduce it in publicity, reviews, folders, etc.
