1. 1. Evidence of the presence of a pyridoxal-5-phosphatc-dependcnt omithinc decarboxylase in human prostate gland is reported. 2. 2. Thiols are required for enzyme activity, which is inhibited by sulphydryl reagents. 3. 3. The p H curve exhibits an optimum p 7.0 and a reproducible shoulder at pH 8.o. 4. 4. The apparent Km for the substrate is o-13 mM. Putrcscine is a competitive inhibitor, with an apparent K t of 4-3 mM.
