Angular correlations between $L$ and $M$ x rays in $^{239}\mathrm{Pu}$ obtained from a radioactive source of 32-yr $^{243}\mathrm{Cm}$ were measured using Si(Li) and Ge(Li) detectors. The measured angular-correlation coefficients ${A}_{22}=(8.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.5)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$ for the $L{\ensuremath{\beta}}_{1}\ensuremath{-}M$ cascade and ${A}_{22}=(7.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.0)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$ for the $L{\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{1+2}\ensuremath{-}M$ cascade are both significantly higher than theoretical predictions. The intensity of the Pu ${L}_{1}\ensuremath{-}{L}_{3}$ x ray per ${L}_{1}$ vacancy was found to be $\frac{I({L}_{1}\ensuremath{-}{L}_{3})}{\ensuremath{\Gamma}(L1)}=(6.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.8)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$. The angular correlation coefficient of the $L\ensuremath{\alpha}\ensuremath{-}({L}_{1}\ensuremath{-}{L}_{3})$ x-ray cascade was measured and found to be ${A}_{22}=(3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}7)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$ and is in agreement with theoretical predictions.

The angular correlation between Lβ 1 and several M 4 X-rays of plutonium has been measured with semiconductor detectors. The angular correlation coefficient obtained is A 22 = (8.5 ± 1.5) × 10 −2 . This value is compared with theory.
