Cucurbitacins-D, -F, -H, and the new member 23,24-dihydrocucurbitacin F have been isolated from Crinodendron hookeranium . This is the first report of cucurbitacins in the Elaeocarpaceae. Other components isolated included gallic and ellagic acids, methyl 3- O -methylgallate and an ellagitannin.

Hentriacontane, friedelan-3-one, epi -friedelinol, hexacosanol, stigmasterol, a new diterpenic acid and its monomethyl ester are amongst the constituents of Haplopappus foliosus and H. angustifoliosus . The new acid has been called haplopappic acid.

From the leaves and stems of Podocarpus nubigena Lindl. have been isolated rimuene, nagilactone-C, a new norditerpene. nubilactone-A (IV), daucosterin, sitosterol and cyanidin.

Extracts from the stems and leaves of Pitavia punctata Mol. were examined. The neutral fraction yielded β-sitosterol, daucosterin, quercetin, avicularin, and the previously undescribed quercetin 3-rhamnosylarabinoside. Braylin was co-extracted with the basic constituents, dictamnine, skimmianine and γ-fagarine. Acid hydrolysis of the leaves yielded cyanidin and delphinidin.

The neutral components from the stems of Colletia spinosissima Gmel. include lupenone, sitosterol lupeol, daucosterine. Acid hydrolysis of the glycoside fraction afforded ethyl sinapate and two homologous degradation products from the corresponding sapogenins. Mild hydrolysis of the glycoside fraction afforded the intact sapogenins, which have been tentatively assigned the structures (VIIb) and (VIIIb). The chemistry of the latter compounds has been explored.

The title plant has been shown to contain the sesquiterpene lactones erioflorin methacrylate (I), erioflorin (III), erioflorin acetate (VIII) and a new lactone, ovatifolin (X).

The structure of a new peptide alkaloid, crenatine A isolated from Discaria crenata, has been elucidated.

The structure of nubigenol, a new chalcone from Podocarpus nubigena , has been identified as α,2,4,6,4′-pentahydroxydihydrochalcone (I).

Betulinic acid was isolated and identified from Lepechinia chamaedryoides collected in the summer, and ursolic acid was found in plant material collected in the spring.

Oleanolic acid was isolated and identified as a sapogenin of a glycosidic fraction from Lardizabala biternata. By means of an alcoholic extraction of the dried and pulverized plant an extract was obtained which yielded a water-soluble glycosidic fraction. Acid hydrolysis of this material gave oleanolic acid which was purified and identified.

From flowers of Helenium plantagineum four compounds were isolated—a polymethylenic alcohol, β-sitosterol, linifolin A, and deacetoxylinifolin A.
