An extensive set of programs for a large computer has been developed to process the magnetic tape output of a small on-line computer. The two computers together constitute a very versatile general purpose multiparameter pulse height analysis system. The programs are written in the Fortran IV and MAP programming languages for the University of Iowa's IBM 7044 digital computer. The on-line computer is a CDC 160A.

Considerable investigative interest has been given to the oxytocin-like effect of the prostaglandins for the induction of labor. However, in depth studies on the effects on the neonate have not appeared in the literature. The present study was designed to evaluate the possible clinical and biochemical alterations in the neonate subsequent to the use of prostaglandin F 2α for the induction of labor in a double blind study with oxytocin. No significant differences between the two groups of infants could be identified by the methods used.

In the course of a recent precision cross-section measurement utilizing solid-state detectors in a gaseous target scattering chamber, many effects which determine the shape and character of observed spectra were investigated experimentally. Data are presented on (1) slit edge scattering, (2) gas target scattering compensation processes, (3) detector efficiency, (4) gas scattering spectrum shape, (5) solid state detector response, and (6) incoming beam energy degradation.

An experiment to test time-reversal invariance by the principle of detailed balance in the reaction $^{16}\mathrm{O}(d,\ensuremath{\alpha})^{14}\mathrm{N}$ and its inverse has been performed. The experiment shows that detailed balance is satisfied with an uncertainty of \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.5%.
