Abstract

Some effects of urea solutions on cellulose fibres have been studied. Swelling of native and regenerated cellulose fibres, loss of strength of the latter and the ease of stripping acid dyes all increase with the concentration of the urea solutions.

Summary 1 Fabric temperatures and rates of drying have been investigated using “infra-red” heating. 2 Fabrics show two steady temperatures during drying.
