An approximate expression is derived for a shift of a main-beam direction due to its element pattern in a uniformly illuminated, scanning planar array for a sin^{p} \theta \cdotp sin^{q} \phi element pattern. Furthermore, the integral of the radiation power pattern of the array is approximately evaluated, and discussions are given about the effect of the element pattern on the scanned directivity of the array. Numerical results are presented for several cases.

We studied significance of ascorbic acid content in unshiu oranges in three layout between ones grown in southern and northern districts in Chita-gun, Aichi-ken divided by the line, where the mean lowest temperature during January was 1°C, between ones grown south-and north-side of trees in the two districts, and between ones in the two districts thinning out in November and December, and obtained the following results:(1) We admitted significance of ascorbic acid content in 1% level between unshiu oranges grown in the two districts, thinning out in both November and December.(2) We admitted significance of ascorbic acid content in 1% level between unshiu oranges grown in north-side of trees in the two districts thinning out in November, but no significance of ascorbic acid content even in 5% level between ones grown in north-side of trees in the two districts thinning out in December. We admitted significance of ascorbic acid content in 1% level between unshiu oranges grown in south-side of trees in the two districts thinning out in both November and December.(3) We admitted significance of ascorbic acid content in 1% level between unshiu oranges grown in the two sides of trees in the southern district thinning out in December, but no significance even in 5% level between ones in the remaining three cases.

To compose a telephone network with low transmission loss without cumulative increase of quantizing noise, it is desirable to accomplish both transmission and switching with PCM modulation. Such a system, called an integrated telephone network, requires synchronization of incoming signals arriving at each exchange to the local timing pulse generator controlling a time division switch of the exchange. In the synchronization method described in this paper-the equational timing system a local oscillator of controllable frequency that drives the local timing pulse generator in each exchange is controlled by making reference to the phase differences between incoming signals arriving at the exchange from the other exchanges and incoming signals arriving at the other exchanges from the exchange. This synchronization method permits the minimun storage capacity of the buffer memory indispensable for compensation of the junction-delay variation, indefinite enlargement of the network and multiplication of its complexity, and invulnerability to the consequence of failure of one or more junctions or timing pulse generators in the network. The phase differences between the local timing pulse generators of exchanges in the network, the stability of the network applied with this synchronization method, and an example of the equational timing system are discussed.

Bacterial count and vitamin B1 content of boild noodle which were frequently utilized in home cooking and recent mass meal service were investigated.The same storage examination were carried out on the noodle which was boiled and packed after hydrogen peroxide treatment in the laboratory. We thus get the following three results;(1) In the noodle without packing, 104 counts of bacterias were found just after purchase and they increased to 108-109 counts after 24 hours storage at 37°C. The packed samples did not show any bacterial contamination even after 3 days storage except one sample.(2) The vitamin B1 contents of the boiled noodle with and without packing were 17μg% (standard deviation, 4.47) on an average respectively. These values were extremely low.(3) During 9 days storage at 37°C, any bacterial growth was not found in the boiled noodle which was packed after hydrogen peroxide treatment. The loss of enriched vitamin B1 depended on the concentration of hydrogen peroxide adapted in the treatment.

The thermal transfer process takes place at high temperatures, and the temperature which freezes the magnetization is distributed in some wide range depending upon the signal field strength, but most magnetization is frozen between 115°C and 120°C. The time constant of the changing magnetization and demagnetization field from frozen magnetization are very significant in the thermal transfer process. Because of the demagnetization field, thermoremanent magnetization becomes small and is limited to only the tape surface. The computed magnetization pattern of the slave tape indicates that the transfer characteristics of thermoremanent magnetization are similar to that of the anhysteretic method. In the thermoremanent magnetization process the magnetization recovers about 3 times the high temperature magnitude when it is cooled to room temperature. Consequently, a high output can be obtained by thermoremanent magnetization.

Magnetic tape duplication by the contact printing method was first developed in 1949, but there were still many difficulties in the way of successful duplication at short wavelength signals of a few micrometers. The bifilar tape winding system has been newly developed for successful duplication of signals as short as 2 μm. The optimum strength of the transfer field for maximum output of the duplicated slave tape is exactly the same value even at very short wavelengths. The optimum coercivity of the master tape is about two and half times that of the slave tape. The decrease of the recorded master tape at 2-μm wavelength is within 2 dB for the first duplication with no further decrease after more than hundreds duplications. This system is applied to a video tape duplicator and can transfer automatically a 1-hour program within 2 minutes. The duplicated picture quality is almost undiscernible from the master. This system is also adaptable to the duplication of audio, digital, and any other magnetic tapes or sheet information.

"矢作川の各流域で,それぞれ調査してきた栄養・食品摂取状況について職業別に層化して検討を行なった.その結果,常用勤労世帯が全般的によい摂取状況であり,漁業世帯,日雇労働世帯が特に不足がみられた.専業農業世帯の栄養摂取量よりみた地域の特徴をしらべた.その結果,上流地域(根羽村・稲武町)は熱量が他地域より多く,中流地域(猿投町)はビタミンCの多いことが証明された.また下流地域(一色町)はビタミンB_2が他地域よりも少ないことがあげられる."

"著者らは,飛騨・奥美濃地方における山菜の種類およびその利用状況を調べたところ,次の成果を得た.1 地区の別なく最も多く利用されている山菜の種類は,ぜんまい,わらび,ふき,わさび,さんしょう,なつめ,うど,いたどり,やまのいも,あまな,とちのき,たらのき,みずな,おやまぼくち,ぎぼうしの15種類であった.2 特異的に利用されていた山菜は,飛騨地方では,ねまがりだけ(すずたけを含む),ずみ,くさそてつ,のがんぞう,まゆみ,しおで,はないかだの7種類であった.奥美濃地方においては,ささゆり,またたび,うこぎ,あざみ類,にがいちご,おたからこうの6種類であった.3 山菜の利用状況の地域的関連性からみると,Iブロックは,7・10・11・13・14・15・16地区,IIブロックは,2・3・5・6・8・9地区,IIIブロックは,1地区,IVブロックは,4地区,Vブロックは12地区の5つのブロックに分けることができた.終りにのぞみ,本調査研究に対し,ご指導とご援助を賜わった本学生活科学研究所広正義所長,南川幸教授および調査対象地区の小・中学校の教職員の方々をはじめ,ご父兄に対し貴重な資料の提供とご協力をいただき深く感謝いたします.本研究結果の大要は,第15回日本家政学会中部支部総会(於名古屋女子大学・1969)において発表した."

The average of ascorbic acid of samples of Citrus unshiu grown in Chita county, Aichi prefecture in the end of January was 34.3mg% in large size and 29.7mg% in small size.In order to observe the change of ascorbic acid content of the samples, we took up the following four factors: (a) places of cultivation, Chita county, Aichi prefecture and Mikkabi-town, Shizuoka prefecture, (b) size, large and small, (c) stored in heated room or not, and (d) kept during 0 days, 20 days, 40 days.By the method of analysis of variance by four way layout with replication, we found difference of ascorbic acid content of edible part of the samples significant only in the factor of keeping days in the level of significance 1%.We also found difference of the weight ratio of edible part/peel of the samples significant only in both factors of keeping days and size in the level of significance 1%.Thus we confirmed that the ascorbic acid content of Citrus unshiu bought in the end of January weight ratio of edible part to the whole, and weight ratio of peel to the whole are to change by the days, during which they are kept.

The Number of out-patients having gastric symptoms has in recent years remarkably increased. Many of them, though free from pathological findings when examined by upper 'G-I X-ray series including the biliary tract and by gastrofiberscope, were found, on illness, to have abnormal habit of defecation, full sensation of the lower abdomen, or other various :subjective symptoms all of long duration.A total of 1335 such cases have been subjected to barium enema examination of the colon (Aoyama's method). With the exception of 27 cases having organic diseases of the colon, organic in the narrow sense of the word such as its tumors. 1308 cases were further investigated.As a result, a close correlation has been found between the X-ray findings such as abnormal location, course and so-called membraneous lifting-up of the colon, together withits traction or stenosis due to mesocolitis, and the patient's subjective symptoms and defecation habits. Based on this study, the authors attempted to designate those symptoms and radiological sighs, including kinking of the splenic flexure or the descending colon, the socalled detour sign, cicatric mesocolitis of the splenic flexure or cicatric mesosigmoiditis, as"colon syndrome" for the purpose of differentiatiating it from the" irritable colon."One of the authors, Hayashida, attempted to remedy this syndrome by surgical intervention: one stage modification of abnormal course kinking, cicatrices and so no of the colon together with left hemi-colectomy. In 150 cases thus treated, 84.9 percent have been free from any subjective symptoms six months after operation.
