Research indicates that public concern about pollution is either passive or nonexistent. Concern with pollution correlated substantially with concern with other socioeconomic issues. Environmental activists were found to not think of themselves as working class, to not feel politically alienated, and to prefer liberal political party identification. (Author/MR)
