A new type of dimensional analysis is used to develop expressions relating the heat capacity and thermal conductivity to elastic-mechanical macroscopic physical properties. The approach is based on the invariance properties of tensors as applied to continua and although the particular application of the paper is in the field of "heat," the methods and techniques are general and can be applied to all phenomena related to continuum mechanics.
