Results are given for tangential injection into ATC of two 15-keV neutral beams with net power up to 100 kW. The ion temperature rise exceeds 100 eV, consistent with theoretical expectations. Fast-ion drag rates and pitch- angle scattering have been measured, the latter to determine Z/sub eff/. Injection was also made at 83 and 97$sup 0$ to the plasma current. At 83$sup 0$ some ion heating is observed; at 97$sup 0$ the heating is negligible. The fast- ion energy distributions, observed tangentially, show the severity of the ''loss- region'' for counter-circulating particles. (auth)
