The effect of short-range correlations on the cross section for the inelastic scattering of electrons on 3 He is investigated. Reasonable forms for the correlations show a 20% increase in the cross section near the maximum at ≈53° proton angle, over the value when no such correlations are included. The parameters in the ground state wave function are fixed by fitting the charge form factor of 3 He. With an exponential radial dependence of the correlations a reasonable fit to the absolute cross section can be achieved.
