This paper contains a brief resumé of the ideas inherent in the utilization of digital electronic computers in medical data processing Concepts associated with the application of a sequential decision theory applied to the analysis of medical diagnosis, and with the accumulation and recall of individual medical records, are discussed The conclusion is reached that the great significance of a national health computer network cannot be overestimated, both as an aid to increasing individual good health and longevity, and as a vast new source of medical information concerning mankind Present day computer technology indicates that such a health computer network is entirely feasible [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
