The article reports on the accomplishments of the American Fisheries Society regarding Fishery science, as covered by the society's journal "Transactions of the American Fisheries Society." Topics such as the sports fishery applications and commercial applications in terms of fishery management were also presented. The article also discusses the biological effects of dam construction, including nitrogen poisoning and mortality among migrating juvenile salmon. Also included are the symposium on Fish Cytogenetics sponsored by the American Fisheries Society, and the harmful effects of pesticides and herbicides on bluegill, as well as pond water, bottom sediments, and aquatic plants.
