The creep of plain concrete was compared with that of concrete containing two water-reducing and set-retarding admixtures. Four cements of dif-ferent tricalcium aluminate content were used and specimens were loaded in compression at 7 and 28 days to a stress/strength ratio of 0.3. Admixtures modified the rate of creep. The change in total creep over the test period varied from a decrease of 30 percent to an increase of 30 percent depending on the age at which the load was applied and the admixture and cement used. Although creep is affected by varying the C3A content, other factors in cement composition ap-pear to be influential since no definite trends could be observed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
