The stem bark of Aspidospermaalbum (Vahl) R. Ben. is shown to contain at least eight more alkaloids than had been reported previously. The new alkaloids have been separated from the extract by a combination of countercurrent distribution and preparative scale thin-layer chromatography. Of these eight alkaloids, five have been definitely characterized and their structure determined. They are the previously known aspidolimidine, together with N-propionyl-N-deacetylaspidolimidine, N-acetyl-N-depropionyllimaspermine, N-acetyl-N-depropionylaspidoalbinol, and aspidolimidinol. The natural occurrence of the last four alkaloids had not been reported previously.

The activity of Italian alienists during the year 1913 has not been very extensive in range, but it is nevertheless considerable, especially in view of the complexity of the subjects which have been selected, and of the antecedent fitness which the different authors showed they possessed for their thorough treatment.

Il paraǐt que le meilleur remede est de donner a ces enfants l'occasion de faire sortir les tendances naturelles sous la direction, pleine de tact, d'un certain type de personnalite dont la comprehension, la bonte, et une foi intelligente sont les qualites essentielles.

Verf. untersucht das Problem des Einflusses der Prandtlschen Zahl auf die turbulenten Warmeubergange in Stromungen mit hoher Geschwindigkeit fur eine beliebige Wandtemperatur. Es wird der Einflus der Prandtlschen Zahl auf den Ruckgewinnfaktor bestimmt; dann erhalt man, unter Berucksichtigung einer laminarturbulenten Ubergangsschicht, die Formeln, die die Nusseltsche Zahl ergeben und die als eine Erweiterung der Formeln von Prandtl-Taylor und von von Karman betrachtet werden konnen. Die experimentellen Ergebnisse stehen in gutem Einklang zu den rechnerischen Ergebnissen. The Author puts forth the problem of the influence of Prandtl's number on the heat transmission in a turbulent boundary layer at high speeds, when the wall-temperature distribution is arbitrarily assigned. The influence of Prandtl's number on the recovery factor is determined; then the formulas giving Nusselt's number are derived, considering the existence of a buffer zone between the laminar sub-layer and the truly turbulent layer, and which can be considered as an extention of Prandtl-Taylor's and Von Karman's formulas. The experimental results agree with the calculated ones.

Explicit gasdynamic equations for unsteady, rectilinear motion are deduced for an ionizing and radiating gas, when both of these processes are out of equilibrium. An estimate is then given of the degree of ionization produced upstream of a strong normal shock wave by radiation from the hot nonequilibrium region downstream of the shock.
