The article considers the results of a study conducted by J.A.F. Stoner that found that group decision making is riskier than individual decision making. Addressing the study, the author argues that the test used in the study results in misleading data and the scale used to measure the data results in a bias towards risk and is of limited use. The article presents the methodology of the previous test and recreates the test using four different test groups, a similar Wallach-Kogan dilemmas-of-choice instrument, and a different, discrete scale. The findings are reported and analyzed, with the author concluding that the there is a general conservative tendency of groups and that situation has a significant influence on decision making.
